The museum is small and mostly dated, but theyve updated a few things lately, which is great. My daughter spent an hour building a car on the main floor, took a lot of time playing with the magnetic tiles downstairs and would have stayed another hour if they hadnt been closing. Good way to spend a cold Friday.
I have been going here since I was a little girl and now I get to take my kiddos! They offer a playgroup two times a month and a family fun night once a month both FREE for Muskegon County residents. It’s fun exploring the body works area, the science center, the history of Muskegon, the mastodons and the new STEM area. Great for an afternoon of fun.
Through my company Tours Around Michigan, I brought a family here from Minnesota who is considering moving to West Michigan. I was hired by an employer as a recruiting helper to show the family the area in ways tailored to their personal needs and interests to encourage them to move here. It went great and the museums STEM room especially was a massive hit. The kids (21-months and 7-yrs) and the parents LOVED it!
We discovered the museum a couple years ago and my 5 year old LOVES going there. Its her favorite place to go! My 2.5 yr old also has started to love it too. The Saturday activities are fun and the staff is great with kids!!!
We took our boys for Sensory Saturday and had a blast. The kids really enjoyed the hands on activities and being able to touch certain things. The staff was very friendly and immediately jumped in to help if they seen our boys were overstimulated.
Looks great easy to navigate
Perfect place to bring your kids!
Really fun museum, took us about an hour to go through it with our children. They really liked that many of the exhibits were interactive. We enjoyed that it was something we could do that was free. They have a really excellent collection and the displays are interesting for the whole family, we will visit again!
My third grade class LOVED this museum! It has so much Michigan History. The STEM activities are fascinating!
They have awesome exhibits! The events they host are always fun and educational. The staff is super friendly.
Brought the kids 2, 4, & 6. We spent most of our time in the science room looking at the tornado, weights, magnets, mirrors, and instruments. We spent about an hour their, mostly in the hands on areas. They also liked to learn about the areas logging history.
Husband and I had a date night a drove out here to check this place out. We had a lot of fun
We parked on Clay Ave and we walked to the Lakeshore Museum Center, Fire Barn Museum and Scolnik House of the Depression Era. They are ok and they are all free so its worth stopping by. We did the Hackley & Hume houses before which are only 2 blocks away and i highly recommend visiting.
Great place for kids. Hands on, educational, and FUN! Oh and its FREE!!!
