I went to school at Old Bradley when I was in the 4th grade. My classroom was to the right of the front door in the corner. Miss. Livingston was my teacher. This was where students went that had problems in school. The cafeteria was on the top floor in the back. This was the 1970-71 year. Was a great school with great teachers. The next year everybody was transferred to the New Bradley school on Mercury Blvd.

I went here for a lock in and it was okay. I felt it could have been scheduled better (we did a tour at FOUR am!) and more free time. Over all an interesting museum, but i dont know if I would visit again.

When I was young, this school was the only place for the African Americans in Murfreesboro to get a public education. It and Holloway HS were for the black students in our area. With integration, they were shut down but luckily, local citizens had the foresight to preserve the building and some artifacts. James K Polk also attended a school there prior to it becoming a school for African Americans. Please support this sight and lets all remember that it was not that long ago that we had unbelievable inequality in our town and many others.
