We accidentally found Cannonsburgh Village near downtown Murfreesboro, TN on a greenway bike ride over the thanksgiving holiday and it was really cool! That is, if you like historic places. There were so many cool buildings from so long ago that represented the middle Tennessee area from the turn of the century and before. Doctors office, a grain mill, a town hall, a school building, a church, a general store. So cool. Our 3yr old even loved it!

Very interesting exhibits. You can donut at your own pace, and its small enough to do in a couple of hours. We had a really nice afternoon learning about life in early Tennessee, and thew grounds are well maintained, and its very easy to get to. Also, no entrance fee! Donations are appreciated.

Ive been here many times before and always enjoyed it. Today I brought my young kids mainly to take pictures, but my kids loved seeing the old buildings and exploring the area in general. As an added bonus there was a craft going on in the gazebo today so they got to paint and assemble wooden tops to take home. We spent several hours there just enjoying the day.

This pioneer village tucked in the heart of Murfreesboro is such a hidden gem! It was refreshing and a great place to slow down. Cannonsburgh village is great free activity to do and a wonderful place to take pictures! Also located here is the world’s largest cedar bucket, which is a cool bonus! Make sure to wear comfortable shoes for walking around, and check the weather before you go because it is outdoors. The gift shop had some great souvenirs and you can see the occasional blacksmith at work from time to time. I throughly enjoyed my experience, and will be taking my all my future visitors here!

Loved coming here for years and now I get to bring my babies here to learn the history of the area they were born and raised... Even at 3&4 they thouroughly enjoyed it... It is a community treasure and I am so happy they take care of it! It is a bit hard as a disabled person, but I was able to see most of it!

I loved the place, however I would of liked to see more accessible for either handicapped or ones like me that cannot do stairs, even if only one or two. I didnt get to see everything so it will be another trip down.

The gentleman that was working the gift shop was super knowledgeable and a great story teller. The property itself was interesting and informative. The stained glass in the church was beautiful, Im sure it makes for a perfectly sweet place to have a small wedding. We also loved that it was pup friendly, including the gift shop when our poor pup overheated.

This is a very cute little village that sort of reminds me of going back to Mayberry with Andy Griffith. Cannonsburgh offers history, a small town feel and a lovely setting for a small wedding or even a corporate event. The staff there is very inviting and helpful. I recommend Cannonsburgh for those who would like to experience a little bit of history and as well as to couples considering marriage that dont want to break the bank in the process of getting married.

This place is amazing it brings history back and you can see what it was like in the 1800s. A lot of people take photos for Christmas cards and other holidays. There are old farm tractors to see and read about. There is also a school house, mill, doctor office library and a lot of interesting things to see. Its a must visit at least once to walk back in time you might learn something you never knew. They have a gift shop there that you can buy stuff at. The greenway is right there that you can also take a walk on. There is parking and it is free so stop by and enjoy your day you will be glad you did.

Cannonsburgh is the re-creation of a pioneer village and is the original name for Murfreesboro. It has a gristmill, one-room schoolhouse, town hall, log home, church, general store and a working blacksmiths shop to visit. We found it also has a very large (supposedly the worlds largest) cedar bucket. It is a fun place to take the children and there is room on the grounds for a picnic lunch. Although it is not very interactive, and it doesnt begin to match larger early American village settings such as Williamsburg or the Jamestown Settlement, it does offer a small scale view of what some of the local pioneer businesses, one-room school, an early American home, and town hall might appear to be like--all in a quaint setting.

Awesome little place with a ton of historical information. Nestled among the old buildings that describe life in the early days of the city is a blacksmith and working forge that offers classes in the art! Truly amazing little village that has, what I believe, is the largest wooden bucket on display, as well as a plethora of antique tractors on display which is truly awesome!

Hours need to be updated. Says on the web that the grounds are open until 7:30 on Saturday and closed Sunday. We arrived at 5:00 on a Saturday and the grounds were closed and locked with signs saying they are only open till 4pm and that they do have Sunday hours. Would be nice to have known the actual hours.
