Miss Wanda was an absolute delight!!! We hadnt planned on a tour but she met outside the church. I, for one, never knew that Martin Luther wasnt allowed on the steps of the capital and gave his speech on the back of a trailer. So much history. So much love. Thank you Miss Wanda!!! (2017)

I arrived late in the evening and was only there for one day. I was able to walk around the area and take some photos. It was right down the street from the state capitol and the other government buildings. It is a beautiful church!

Martin Luther King inspired me at a young age to treat my fellow man equally. People are people. That is why we stop making distinctions and go color blind. To actually visit the beloved church he once preached from was a dream come true. May we all go back to that love of God that reaches out to all, especially the downtrodden.

If you go to Montgomery, Alabama and do not stop here you are denying yourself the chance to experience American History. The two ladies who help run the museum side of the Church, epitomize Southern Hospitality. I was greeted with a hug from each and their knowledge of Dr. King and the Church was deep. This Church is an absolute much visit, I found myself moved by the simplistic beauty of the Church and personally impacted by being able to touch the lectures Dr. King used and humbled to stand in his office. I recommend visiting the Church and the Civil Rights Memorial in an afternoon. You can see the Church thoroughly in 90 minutes or less but you better be sure to give those ladies a hug when you come in and before you leave they were a delight to converse with.Admission is free but they run on sales from their gift shop and donations.

What an incredible experience I had at the church, due to a wonderful tour guide named Wanda. She was closely connected to Dr. King and other great leaders from this community, and she channeled their love and open heartedness in a beautiful way. I have a deep connection to Dr. King, so for me, being there was a kind of holy pilgrimage. I feel uplifted and inspired to do more to make the world a kinder place.

My wife and my kids visited Dr. Kings church during our annual road trip which included many civil rights stops. Wanda was our guide. It was wonderful to walk in a place where so much history was made that still matters today. The basement where local residents met back in the day to organize the bus boycotts after Rosa Parks made her stand to Dr. Kings office to the church itself. All that being said, Wanda is the best part of the visit. Her spirit her good energy just uplifts you. She had our family and another family from Texas join her in a prayer of thanks before we left that hallowed place where every day peoples courageous deeds still resonate and matter today.
