I took a friend, Brad Carter, here looking for work! This he maintenance area was clean and well organized. The people were friendly, helpful and accommodating. The lodge was not yet open, but appeared to be large and quaint and inviting. Seems like a very nice added attraction for Missoulas and Montanas winter tourism season.
There isnt a resort like this one in the country. As soon as you drive under the arch on the way in, you are greeted with a smile and a wave from the parking lot staff who will then direct you to the closet parking spot. The authentic lodges, the classic two-seat chairs, and the variety of options will never disappoint. When you come down to the lodge for lunch, the cafeterias burgers are fantastic and the pizza from the bar is debatablely the best pizza you will ever eat. Once you reach to top of grizzly chair, ski down to the Lavelle chair and ski some of the tasty tree runs, ski down to the base, or go over to the new snow park chair which is great for beginner skiers. There is truly something special about this small resort, but it may take a season or two to figure it out.
We went up to ride these Diglers down the ski trails and had a GREAT time! Please note that they only have 6 max to rent (my bro had to run back home to get a mountain bike so the 7 of us could all stay together). Quality helmets are included with rentals if needed. We rode up on the ski lift which was fun (watch for the trees decorated with mardi gras beads!). We stopped & picked lots of ripe huckleberries on our way down too (in mid August). We took either trail 3 or 5 and it was about 7 miles to the bottom. We also saw zip-lines there and what looked like a good restaurant with nice outdoor deck seating.
This is by far my favorite place to snowboard in Montana. It has reasonable prices on daily lift tickets as well as full season passes.Three lifts take you to diverse terrain whether you want something slow and relaxing or steep and advanced, they have it all.The lodge has exquisite pizza, egg rolls and quesadillas and the bartender, Hannah, makes the best margaritas on this side of the Mississippi.
Good drinks and fun ride up to top with great views. Sons rode bikes down the trails and had a blast
Summertime folf course... love the views and the huckleberries... being a disc golfer... i love the course.... big shots and some very interesting tight shots... very forgiving course if you are worried about your score.... still very fun to play and bloody marys are great... when youre done of course!
Great place for summer fun too!Zip lining was a lot of fun and the ski lift makes for some incredible views.Staff was friendly and fun.
Great ski hill in the winter. This was my first trip up in the summer. It is absolutely beautiful up there. Great views and nice trails. They even have a zipline tour with at least three different ziplines.
Awesome zip-line experience! My only gripe would be the 1/2 mile hike from the 1st to the 2nd point. It was fine for me, but I had people in my party who struggle greatly with hiking. There was a road leading up to the 2nd point; they should utilize that for people who struggle with hiking by loading them up into a vehicle instead of requiring that they climb the somewhat steep trail.
The Lodge at the snowbowl is amazing. The staff is wonderful and super friendly. Couple of things you should know when you are going to stay at the Lodge. First carry your own coffee and supplies. They have a common kitchen with all the works because the cafe and bar closes around 4:30ish and you cant get anything unless you want to drive back to town. And after a day of skiing you dont want to do anything. Plus you might not be able to make it down the mountain. The staff works really hard and long hours. The owner starts about 1in the morning cleaning the road and making sure people are able to get there. If you are looking for a quiet place to stay this is the place.
It was closed for now..nice drive up though.
We have a 3 kids all under 6 years old. We had a blast on the tow rope. For only 5 dollars we had 6 hours of fun. When we needed a break the drinks were strong and the staff was friendly. Thanks snow bowl we will be back
Classic local vibe Montana ski resort. Features two chairs, two tows and decent range of Black runs (powder forest skiing) all on Big Sky Mountain.Skiing “village” at the bottom has one cafe and a bar-restaurant that’s open till late serving pizza and craft beer.Everything you could want in a ski resort and very accessible from Missoula.
Sister Sue and I zipped down the zip line and then enjoyed lunch on the deck watching the next group do the same. We had a great time, the food was delicious (especially recommend the Brie, yum!), but what impressed us most was the kindness of the staff. They went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and well cared for every moment. Thanks Snowbowl for our excellent summer adventure.
Really good Bloody Mary and solid pizza. Oh, and there’s mountain biking and skiing too!
Really bad yuppie skiers running there mouth about snowboarding.
Decent skiing, newly opened terrain. Ski lifts are far from great, but get you to the top of the hill. Decent food, and a fun place to hang out with friends
Tried repeatedly to get zipline reservations and no one ever calls back
It’s a Missoula historic landmark. Or should be. Yes the chairs are old and slow, and the snow is hit or miss, and the ticket prices are getting high. Nevertheless, if you haven’t skied The Bowl, you are missing an iconic piece of Missoula. It looks as beautiful up close as it does from the valley floor. The bar is awesome and serves tasty pizza (and other things). Great runs and lots of terrain to explore. It’s definitely a hard mountain but there are options for those still learning.
I enjoy Snowbowl. That being said, if you are a beginner it won’t be an easy day. The runs on the front side, accessed by the Grizzly lift, are either black diamond or green (green here means narrow cat-tracks). The second chair lift, LaVelle Creek, gives you access to a much better mix of runs with better snow than the main lift Grizzly (and I avoid Grizzly because it takes forever). I honestly only use Grizzly so I can get to LaVelle and explore all of the runs up there. It rarely feels crowded, and the trees almost always have powder. The lifts aren’t anything fancy, but they get the job done. I personally wouldn’t want to bring a young kid on the LaVelle chairlift because the bar divides the middle of the seats, and I’ve seen a lot of parents struggle with their kids getting on and off. The lodge has amazing pizza, and their prices on food and drinks is definitely less than other resorts. The bar staff is super friendly and are willing to make off menu drinks. Their patio is amazing on a sunny day. I love the convenience of getting to the slopes in 20 min. Check on their website for events if you want to avoid the busier days. If you snowboard they require a leash, but will allow you to use your boot lace if you loop your binding strap through.
Beautiful place to throw some discs
Not a bad hill, but as short of snow as they are, they should have had more runs closed than they did. Or even delayed opening. I didnt know if I would have any edges left on my skis!
Overpriced tickets for the quality of runs. Staff was rude. Only thing this place has going for it is how close to Missoula it is. Honestly though I would rather drive a couple hours to Discovery, Lost Trail, or Lookout for better runs, better snow, and better customer service than go to Snowbowl.
Summer: great views hiking on the mountain but tons of knapweed and other weeds. Winter: used to ski here a lot but there are very few groomed runs so a full day becomes boring for an advanced intermediate skier. There are lots of steep, deep mogul runs so if you like that its a great place for you. They are adding more terrain however so Ill report back.
Yes 5 star locals willing to rumble for fresh. Lifties have the hookups. Pow pow yeeowww
Its a great local resort with friendly staff. The ski school is great! Overall a very good value. The mountain is tricky for absolute beginners. There is a decent green run with rope tow at the bottom but the rest of the mountain is fairly challenging with only few green runs. If you can ski Snowbowl you can ski anywhere!
The hype around it is super great for just adults. Its not Kid friendly, so if youre thinking of bringing kids along, just know that theres just a couple of stairs for them to run up and down. Otherwise. Pretty cool!
Love this place! Go every weekend! Great ski terrain!
Beautiful, staff is awesome! What more could I ask for.
Amazing staff! I went zip lining for the first time here. Great instruction and beautiful scenery.
Beautiful scenery, winter/summer activities. Rentals, lessons, lodge with bar and food. Somewhat handicap accessible, doable into lodge w/wheelchair.
Snow was not grwat. Lefts were slow and it is not clear how to get lift tickets etc
Great day skiing and friendly lift operators. Thank you!
It’s close to town, which is a huge plus; however, it is not always well maintained both facilities and grooming. Parking is a bit of a cluster. Does not cater to beginner skiers at all. I would highly reccomend not taking any beginners to Snowbowl. Best option is a forest road that is narrow and gets congested easily. If you are a comfortable skier or looking to get on the hill for a half day it’s good to go otherwise.
Its a pretty good place to ski. But, their website sucks and there isnt a real person on the other end of the phone. The half day starts at 12:30 PM. Its here because you cant find it anywhere from them.
Good local spot when powder is flying, great bar, close to town. 2 slow main old lifts and prices keep going up but really no lift improvements in decades. Great trees, off course a must.
Close activites for both summer and winter
Nice little ski resort with summer biking and zip lining too! No true maintained single track for mountain biking like some resorts, mostly roads and one relatively nice forested single track (about 5 miles long so thats nice). As far as skiing goes, I find this place to be quite steep so try not to bring beginners here, but I like it. Some kicking for snowboards. Overall, nice local place.
We had pizza and beers at the bar. Sat outside and ate/drank before riding the chair lifts up. It was a great day/perfect weather with awesome views. The lift ride was very inexpensive.... And very well worth the time to get to the resort, about 30 minutes outside Missoula.
It was a great first zip lining experience! Amazing instructors!!
Fun and affordable, they make a great bloody mary!
Ski patrol was friendly and fast
Snow Bowl is the best place to take your family for a vacation!
So happy to have a beautiful location to help the traumatic brain injury family have a place to hike.
I learned to ski at Snowbowl so Im certainly a little biased but I love this little mountain. For an experienced skier, its got everything the big resorts have minus the crowds and the price tags. I come back every chance I get.
Went here for the ziplining tour. It was really fun!!
This little hill has a bunch of easily accessible, advanced terrain to ski. its my favorite honestly!
Great terrain great snow
Great skiing and good terrain
I have competed in mogul compititions there and I love it. Staff is kind. The old chairlifts I love, and I would reccomend going there if you get a chance
Be great when it is all open
So I am a total beginner and I dropped into town for work and decided to take a ride up to the Snow bowl. I decided to drop the cash for some snow skiing lessons because I have wanted to snow ski my entire life but just never had the chance. Gary gave me a two hour private lesson for a very affordable price and he is really the BEST!!!! I have never skied before and within two hours he had me up and skiing with confidence. He also rode up the lift with me so that I could catch some views from the top. Snow bowl is not necessarily a run for beginners, but I really did feel welcome there and I had a great experience. Thanks GARY for the time on the mountain!!!!
Looked like the same old run down ski area I worked at 50 years ago. Not a thing has changed except the chair lift bottom had moved.
Little outdated, otherwise nice place.
Best of both seasons! Local best ! Great pizza, BBQ, staff...best bloody Marys
Great for skiers not to bad for snowboarders. This mountain is low in elevation and lack of snow can be a problem.Good backside runs though!
Love Snowbowl. I may be biased since I still think of it as my home ski area but it is great. Not pretentious at all, just great terrain with great folks.
Unless you have a deathwish do not take a 2wd vehicle onto this horrible mountain road. We had 4wd and still had trouble and it’s nearly impossible to tell where the edge of the road is until your teetering on the edge of the drop off. We considered turning around but there were no barriers to protect you from falling off the mountain if you slide while turning around so we were forced to go the whole way. We got there but soon found out this place has really no accommodations for beginners. And if you make it in remember you have to get out... good luck!
Amazing time doing the ziplines
This place is terrible, stay away haha. A Hidden Gem in Western Montana. Not a place for beginners! intermediate and expert skiers will love the Steep Terrain and tree skiing. finished the day with a slice of oven fired pizza and one of the best Bloody Marys in America.
They really have ya by the balls here
The state traumatic brain injury group had the yearly get together hike at Snow Bowl skii hill. A great facility and a great help. Very beautiful.
Great area for experienced skiers, cant beat the convenience. I wish they has more deals on passes but also appreciate that they dont gouge you on food and drinks.
Montana Snowbowl was a huge disappointment. We brought our 5 year old son there after he had been skiing well at Discovery for a day of skiing while visiting family. Unfortunately how the runs are set up to ski green you have to go to the second lift chair that brings you to the top. Thats lift is a 2 seater with a bar in the middle. It becomes downright dangerous for kids who cant reach to touch since I couldnt help my son on and off because of the bar in the middle. He had an unfortunate fall because the chair lift attendant was also not paying attention even though I was shouting for him to help my son get off. Worse ski experience ever. No easy runs all the way to the bottom also left me skiing with my son piggy back to get him down the mountain after he fell so many times. The bunny hill is also not great with just a rope tow. We will never go back. Discovery however has great chair lifts for kids, helpful staff, and great runs.
Great family fun close to town and the pizza is great.
When they have the snow its some of the best riding Ive ever done. Rocks, great tree runs and steep everywhere.
Love the terrain, no matter how full the lot is the mountain never feels crowded! Always tend to be above those great clouds of winter that hang in the valley. The Last Run Inn really skies have the best wood-fired pizza and Bloody Marias!
Best terrain around. Not much easy stuff though
Such fun runs, hardly any wait to get on lifts, lots of steep terrain and great views! Not all runs are well marked so this can be a tough spot for beginners who want to avoid diamonds.
Love snow bowl. I just got a job here. This is the place I spend most of my time. I have yet to see winter hours but Im sure it will be poppin. SNOWBOWL is just replace to be!
Snowbowl is awesome! Been getting plenty snow.
Snowbowl is the best place to go! For beginners it isnt the best, but for more experienced skiers, its the place to go. Amazing runs and very social lift attendants are a plus! The pizza they have is rare. You couldnt get it anywhere else. When they get snow... its heaven. A foot of snow in a day! Thats crazy. Keep up the good work, Snowbowl:).
Awesome place to ski really good pizza
Snowbowl is amazing, honestly I loved going there with my family.
Nice lodge,not to fancy,very pleasant,friendly staff
Beautiful views from the top. Skiing on top was nice. The weather and the snow were great. I suggest you bring lunch to the top because the trip down is a lot of work. Base area is ok but undersized on a busy ski day. It was fairly crowded on a weekday in January. It was icy and steep and dark on the way back to the lodge at the end of the day. Still a nice area to ski,
The snowbowl rocks! Great skiing, really long runs, not too crowded, and some of the best woodfired pizzas I ever had!! Had an awesome time.
Best bloody Marys in the Missoula area and their pizza for a ski mountain so yummy
Close to Missoula. Dirt road to the ski hill. Locals mountain. I highly recommend this ski area.
Thumbs up for the staff!
Excellent day and the soup at the bar was delicious
It was far a.f.
Convenient. If you learn here, you can ski anywhere. Needs faster lifts.
Great steeps
Lib Tech demo was dope
Awesome atmosphere, great skiing!
Imagine the best dive bar in your home town and thats what this ski hill is.
Good runs cool atmosphere but seems to be a very icy mountain not great snow conditions
Incredible! Love the lifties, the steeps (West Bowl is fantastic), and you cant beat the wood-fired pizza!
Rule of thumb at snowbowl, if u dont like the hill its probably because youre not good enough to ski its amazing terrain.
Old style, down home ski hill. No pretenses are this area.
Good hill when the snow hits. not great for beginners.
Its a ski hill close to Missoula, but it is not that great. There are several flat spots where you need to skate arround on your skis. Also when I was there the place was just a sheet of ice. I had a hard time stoping, turning, or doing anything where you needed traction. I also ran across spots where there were streaks of bare ground with no snow
