Had a false advertisement for “free Friday” night and made people pay $15 to get in. Wack. Waste of time.

Monarch is one of my favorite clubs downtown Minneapolis. I always have a great time when I’m there. Music is always fun! Drinks are pretty good and the service is pretty fast. Charlie the front door guy has always made me feel so welcome. He is a professional at what he does and manages the crowd outside club so well.

Monarch is a go-to for friends I entertain both locally and nationwide, because the brand is not confusing and I know what to expect every time I frequent it; fun! Also, its neither intimidating nor pretentious. While I have a favorite bartender, Tom, I am equally impressed by the Security Team at Monarch. For example, the Head Door Person is beyond polite, he personally ushered me from our car to the front door of Monarch b/c there was a snow bank. Thanks again!

The owner mistook us for another group of people that cut the line and refused us entry (even though we had already paid $60 and waited 10-15 minutes in line in 3 degree weather). He refused to have any discussion with us when we asked where he saw us get into line. And when someone behind us moved the fence (as a fence holding in 50 freezing cold people would) he sprayed MACE into the crowd and was completely apathetic to the young woman who he wrongfully accused and got MACE in her eye which did not come out for 20+ minutes. If you want to enjoy your night and deal with actual business professionalism and people with actual customer service relations skills go to Goldroom, Union or Crave rooftop.

Great first experience! Great dance music and the crowd was great! will be attending again! its is always 18 + for women!

Was here last saturday, they did not follow social distance restrictions, they did not limit there capacity,it was very very crowded, it was hard to walk around with everybody packed inside, plus nobody had on mask . Wont be coming back for awhile .

Im seeing some negative reviews about this place, I’m bothered because when our party walked up told the door man we had reservations he was super nice checked the ID and within seconds we were escorted to the booth. The owners were genuine and cool

Great place to go dance but the fact that it’s 21+ for guys is suspect. The front door service was rude, and when told that we have been in here 5 times with the same dudes they called us names. There aren’t many 18+ overall clubs and the gender bias here is weird. Also expect to pay $20 without it being on the website. Thanks for coming to my ted talk.

If I could give a half a star or give a review with no stars I would. Going here has got to be the worse experience I have ever had at a club. Someone who presented himself as an owner tried to mace my friends and I for no reason and ended up macing this random girl who was behind us in the eye.

I was new to the area and a friend told me about Monarch. The first time I went I enjoyed every minute of it. Now it is one of my top places to go! Always has great music, awesome vibes and wonderful staff!

Tom is the best bartender I have ever had the pleasure of being served by. He was attentive and quick dispite the large crowd. He remembered my drink throughout the evening and was so pleasant to speak to.I will surely be back the evenings he is working!!!

This is my absolute favorite club to go to!Pretty cheap drinks, great vibes, upbeat music and atmosphere. The staff is awesome and friendly.I would recommend this place to most!

This is an extremely awful place with some really disrespectful bouncers. My boyfriend went this past Saturday with a group that had VIP access. He had a VIP wristband on the whole time. Later in the night he went out to bring a few more of us in, but the bouncers said he couldnt. Then, when my boyfriend tried to go back inside by himself, one of the bouncers tackled him face first to the floor and ripped his brand new shirt in the process. He now has a bruised jaw and a ripped shirt. There is absolutely no reason for the bouncers to have been so aggressive and impulsive. A group of 6-7 of us saw this happen from outside and we are still in shock. Had I not been dealing with the situation in the moment, I would have recorded the whole thing and posted it directly on here.My boyfriend also tried to voice that he still had his jacket and wallet inside the club, but they would not let him go in. With the help of some of our VIP friends who were still inside, my boyfriend was able to at least get his belongings back. Basically, none of us will ever be returning again and we have told everyone we know to do the same. Although I cannot comment on the rest of the staff members of Monarch, I do know that we felt anything but safe and respected that night.

Monarch isnt an exception from most nightclubs around here, the people working there are on a power high and have no concept of customer service or just plain decency. The place was freezing. People were moving out of the bar area into the dance area just to get warm. No one asked me to check my leather jacket while we got patted down, showed ids, paid a $10 cover, had our purses checked...until I got into the bathroom. One of the (male) workers came into the womens restroom to tell me to check my coat. Other people were wearing coats, vests, fur hats! But I was singled out. I wont be back. Do better Monarch, its not difficult.

Overpriced drinks,, abysmal service.

Horrible experience. Not classy at all. Rude bartender who walks around like hes all that, extremely full of himself. Disrespectful staff. Bottle service girls also very rude, better than everyone attitude. If you want to have a successful nightclub, try hiring people with more character and just plain genuine people. Not self absorbed and straight up rude and passive. Wanted to like the place, but just couldnt. Only person I can say who made my night was the friendly bouncer outside. I have traveled all over the world and some of the best clubs are actually the ones that are in smaller cities sometimes. This one has got to take the cake for worst nightclub. Dont waste your time people, save your time and money . Better off drinking at home!

My girlfriends and I go to Monarch on Thursdays and Saturdays and when I say we have a great time, we have a great time! The drink prices and bottle prices are practical and the bottle girls make VIP worth every penny. Its easy to get super wavy here a good spot to meet some decent looking women. Monarch can take my money all day lol

There is definitely nothing but shady activity going on here at this club. Ladies, if you have one shred of class, you dont belong here. I went to dance and have a good time, but unfortunately left after my first drink. The staff was very disrespectful and the female employees are nothing short of hookers. I had high hopes for this place, but it was a huge let down. The bartender was also very insulting ignoring me when it was dead and after he opened the wrong beer, he kept harassing my friend to order that drink because he had already opened it. At first he refused to even get her the beverage she was ordering. I have never experienced such disrespect. I will absolutely never be back and I will be sure to warn my friends. WARNING: If you try to RSVP online it will always say SOLD OUT and then you will have to pay top dollar at the door. The only way to get in with no cover, ladies, is to RSVP ahead of time but its a trap, because you cant. Loose loose.

Music is good. Club is small, booths are tiny. Bouncer let’s family members into your section even though they didn’t pay making the area smaller. Thumbs down to bottle service at this club.

When visiting Minneapolis, i had many recommendations to go to Monarch. Fun atmosphere and great music all evening long!

SCAMMERS. NOT WORTH IT AT ALL. The security manager could use a few managing classes. Also if you get bottle service they will not regulate the people in VIP, meaning a crowd stands in VIP and you cant see the stage dance floor or anything for that matter. When you pay hundreds of dollars you would expect to finish youre bottles, we were not given the chance. BE AWARE

Okay, so I’ll preface this review by saying I have been to Monarch MULTIPLE times, for years even when it was called Spades and tonight is where I draw the line on unacceptable service. It’s a Friday and Polo Scott and his team ran the venue. My friend from out of town was visiting and I was hoping to show her what Minnesota hip hop clubs had to offer and I’m truly embarrassed by the experience we had. 1) we waited for far too long in line in the cold 2) the security inside became upset when we inquired why were still being charged cover when the place was closing in less than 30 minutes despite it being “free Friday”, so much so that he began to shove a young women forcefully and called a young women who was attending coach check to come and attack her. If you’re looking for violence and disrespect, this is the place for you. But a low-stress fun night out is NOT what you’ll find here.

I think its FUNNY how generally all the woman enjoy the experience, but men are the ones who complain. Hmmmmm.... I saw one woman comment that her drink was spilled and the bartender replaced with another. Of course! Youre a woman. Less likely to happen to a man.

Bouncers are rude and very aggressive. Y’all will loose a lot of business if they aren’t replaced.

This place is shady...let say me that is a lot of illegal activity going on in there... underage kids in there... but I’m sure the owner supports it bcuz they should do let them host a lot of events.... but whatever you do.. don’t go here.. spend your time and money somewhere else

Great Atomsphere and late night spot! Fantastic Dj and Staff. I would highly recommend this place!! My drink was spilled on accident and the bartender replaced it free of charge. Was very nice and respectful.

The worst nightlife experience. The bouncers behaved absurdly at the door, did not feel safe in there. The place is so small and almost suffocating. While coming in and going out I saw bouncers in fist fight. Would not recommend this place. Other clubs in downtown have cheaper cover and better service.

Make sure you have a good health insurance plan. It can get rowdy in there. Very sketchy place. Avoid it.

Every time I come to Monarch I have THE BEST time! I love the bottle girls. They’re are always twerking with guests and super nice. Jonna and Katie are by far the cutest and most professional bartenders I’ve had In Minneapolis. I’m from Chicago and club a lottttt so having a good time when I visit any club is really important to me. I will continue to come here and recommend all my friends to grab a table and do it big when they visit the twin cities

Best club in Minneapolis! From the best DJs to the hottest bartenders.....THIS is where you wanna be on the weekends downtown!

The DJ was pretty good but the staff was a bit abrupt. They could have been more welcoming since we were paying for VIP and bottle service.

The dance floor and the VIP areas are a little small and crowded. otherwise, the music was good and $10 cover charge. #notbad!

Monarch is DEFINITELY a club you can go to for fun, dancing and great drinks!

Typical black oriented club. They charge $10 until God knows what time. Overcharge for incorrectly made mix drink, then act petty over tables and knowschairs. Im convinced that black-owned or black oriented clubs dont want you to enjoy yourself wherever you go
