Found some really unique tarot decks when I was here to add to my collection. I enjoy the different styles of art included in the decks as well as the twist on the standard tarot to include things like more mythology an astrology.
The Light Grey Art Lab is an art gallery that hosts exhibits from artists all over the world. You can contribute a piece simply by mailing it to them. The exhibit I saw when I was there dealt with wildlife. There was a nice variety of pieces. Some of which you could purchase, (some as cheap as 50$!)The atmosphere of the gallery was pleasing as well. It was well lit and quiet. Many of the pieces had an Artists comment to them as well. This made each piece more interesting to view given that you could know more about it.There was also a section of the gallery that had a shop. It sold various items, mostly art books. They were nice gifts to buy as souvenirs.
Great exhibits which are regularly updated. Light Grey Art Lab is fun to peruse and has polite and helpful staff. The location is near Eat Street, so its a great opportunity to grab a coffee or bite to eat before or after checking out whats new in the lineup at Light Grey Art Lab.
This place is fun. Ive gotten a couple pieces from their exhibits. Many of the prints are done by progressive artists, but sell for pretty cheap, generally under $100. That makes it a very approachable gallery for most people. The overall vibe is younger than a typical gallery and they do fun things like craft night and I think they even host potlucks. Its a neat little community that theyve built and my go to place for art presents for others.
Wasn’t open during posted hours (Wed afternoon) had friends in town and wanted stop by to check out an exhibit. No change of hours posted on site, on building, or their voicemail. Might be good, but was unable visit.
Hands down one of my favorite small galleries. They swap out the shows fairly often, and the work on display is always a wonderful blend of artists from around the world.Everybody who works there is incredibly friendly, and you should try stopping by on one of their game nights.
A wonderful addition to the Twin Cities art community, Light Grey Art Lab sets itself apart from other galleries by being a collaborative, supportive, and collective space with a friendly staff and open atmosphere. This gallery primarily shows illustration work, featuring illustrators on the local, national, and international level. However, I have been to a few shows where Ive seen media and design based pieces, and I believe artists of all mediums are encouraged to submit to their calls for art. They also occasionally host artists workshops, which I have found to be not only reasonably priced, but also beneficial to artists of all disciplines.
Wonderful exhibits, great atmosphere!
Friendly staff. Small venue for a great display of local student artists. Loved the music they had.We attended the robot exhibition and my 5 year old had a great time drawing and Journaling.
Ive enjoyed the exhibitions theyve presented & the events Ive attended have been so much fun! Highly recommended in the Twin Cities!
