BEWARE, DAN BUTTERY, War Memorial Director gave me a tour (and others) with his mask hanging off his face and speaking loudly with visible spit exiting his mouth while facing everyone in the group he was giving a tour to, disgracefully, disrespectful and selfish. To add to it all a friend or staff member walked by during our tour without a mask speaking loudly and shouting at each other. If you want this to be your last tour ever of anything visit the War Memorial.
My husband and I were very impressed with our initial visit to the property and decided to sign immediately. We loved the esthetic of the reception space and the added feature of the built-in uplighting. Jennifer was the event planner we worked with and she was very helpful throughout the process. Planning a wedding during COVID was very stressful and she worked to keep us informed of any changes as they came about. I would note that this venue is one of the most affordable options in the downtown Milwaukee area based on the research I completed. We paid $3,700 plus tax for a Saturday evening rental. We did not take the option to buy parking for our guests.
I have been a DJ for 39 years now, and I’ve never been treated as badly as I was tonight at the War Memorial Hall in Milwaukee. I am a friend of the family doing the DJing as part of my gift to the family. The set up was fine, but as soon as “my family” started coming into the room, a woman in charge came up to me with an assistant at her side to tell me without any tact or manors that I was a vendor and needed to wear a mask. When I tried to explain that I had health problems when it came to air constraint, and that I was with the family (masks optional) she ignored me. I understand masks are important, but when I’m at a family gathering and made to feel like the hired help from the people in charge of the hall, I can’t except the ignorance. Do not have your event at the War Memorial in Milwaukee. Very rude people that will go on a power trip to ruin your day.
Great place to remember the high price paid for the freedoms we too often take for granted. Beautiful view of the lake also.
Im an architect so loved the structure.
Had my wedding here in June. The staff is amazing and helpful! They answered any and all questions. They are super knowledgeable about the wedding vendors in Milwaukee and even helped us find our other vendors. They were so flexible the day of our wedding and made everything seem effortless! The event space itself is beautiful. The newly renovated ballroom is perfect. Fitch plaza has a great view of Lake Michigan and is perfect in the summer!Would recommend to anyone getting married in Milwaukee!
Great place to reflect on sacrifice. Great view of downtown and Lake Michigan. Go to the third floor and see vintage war posters on the walls, and if you enter from the ground floor theres a great display of hand carved soldiers in period uniforms. You can read about Douglas McArthur and his ties to Milwaukee, as well as view a large model of a PT 105. Its worth the trip downtown and its free!
Beautiful setting and architecture. Nice place to hold a memorial for military reunions. Eternal flame. 3rd & 4th floor has many of the posters from WWII.
I attended a wedding at this facility, it was a really nice setting. Ill be coming in some other time to check out the history of the place.
Its just an interesting place to stop at. Havent been there for a really long time.
Had such a great turn out and nice ceremony to pay tribute to WWII veterans.
Nice place all in ak and a great museum. Nice connection of contemporary art work. Strong permanent collection ansd goods traveling exhibits. Interesting building design.
Great place to check out some of the history at the war memorial and also the role Milwaukee played in it all. The environment is quiet, which is perfect for being able to read up on some of the history in peace and quiet. There are multiple levels as well. Then when youre done, you can also check out the art museum and also walk outside for some awesome sites of Milwaukee I dont know water and some of the other architecture thats incredible to look at.This is definitely a must-see when visiting Milwaukee!
Gems line the walls here of Americas history told through propaganda posters. An American History teachers lesson plan hangs on these walls.
Nice place for a white wedding. Billy might of thought differently. Since its a war memorial. On the lake front and Milwaukee is a hidden gem . Go CUBS. CIAO
This is where my wife and I got married. The plaza is amazing overlooking the lake. The reception hall was recently remodeled and exceeded our expectations. There is all sorts of military posters, models, history, etc. throughout the building. Nothing overwhelming, just done in a nice artistic way that gets you interested in what they have on display. I Would highly recommend checking this out for a wedding venue.
The War Memorial Center is dedicated in honoring the men and women who have given their lives since WWII. It is a beautiful building along Milwaukees Lakefront which also includes an outside memorial to Vietnam and an Eternal Flame to honor all.
This place is a well respected monument as well as a beautiful place to have events. The prices are very reasonable for this location.
Lovely..located next to the Milwaukee art museum which shoud not be missed!
Foggy tonight! Couldnt see the fireworks for the thick fog. Ran out of wine a d beer. We Ubered it home.
I am so happy my wife and I got married here. It was affordable and the view is breath taking. Also, you can easily have your service, cocktail hour, and dinner all at one site.
Book it before the date is gone!Jennifer is amazing! She was extremely easy to get a hold of and answered all of my questions. When we met for our final run through of everything she had questions for me on things I hadn’t even thought of. She helped us get everything together with the other vendors and I can not thank her enough for everything she did. Our day ran perfectly and it was because of her. Plus lets not forget the beautiful backdrops of the lake and Art Museum we had for our ceremony and family pictures. The beautiful location and fantastic staff make this the perfect spot to have any wedding!!
History and honor amazing staff!
Great memorial, museum and information center focusing on people from Milwaukee and other wisconsinites who served during the wars.
Great wedding venue for outdoor wedding. Nice inside for the reception.
Had my wedding here on 7/22/16 and it was MAGICAL. Jennifer was so helpful every step of the way and even helped with set up. The venue is gorgeous, we had the ceremony outside and the reception inside. The price is also reasonable and they (of course) give a military discount.
Honoring the dead by serving the living. Went to the 9/11 Memorial ceremony. Never forget. Wish more had attended.
During Doors Open Milwaukee, experience was fantastic.
Lovely place. Appetizers were delicious and plentiful. Cocktails were way overpriced.
What an awesome organization. Scouts had an excellent experience.
Well worth a visit
Great place to visit, even for a family.
Beautifully constructed, overlooks the city.
Milwaukees public art museum + Civic rooms, job fairs and Rotary club meetings, right on the Lake front!
We visited 12/30/17. Filthy, & poorly maintained. Bathroom sinks not functioning. No toilet paper. Full of graffiti. Employees not knowledgeable or helpful. Our county officials should be ashamed of this outhouse smelling facility. My father & brother were war vets. I dont think they would be proud.
Great conference venue. Really impressive views made it hard to concentrate!
Beautiful building and plaques!!!
Great view of the Calatrava.
I volunteered here
Ive never actually visited the Memorial, but my family and I have driven past it. Its beautiful! And God Bless the men and women who have served in our countrys military! A few of my relatives have served in the military, and thankfully they all returned home unharmed and healthy! I want all of our surviving military vets to have an enjoyable Veterans Day!
Beautiful
