I went here back in 97 while the fence still sort of blocked your way in. It was a creepy feeling being there. Im not sure if I was just kidding myself or if it had something to do with the paranormal activity that supposedly is there. I went back some years later and encountered a deer following me in the graveyard. The place itself is interesting alone because of the semi seclusion of it. Yes there is a loud road right next to it but you would never know that when youre in there. I wouldnt suggest that its fun for the whole family but if you like spooky places or are just curious about the history of it all then this is the place for you.
Very peaceful and quite beautiful in a bittersweet way. Apparently the cemetery is haunted, but I did not experience any activity of such sorts. The trails into the forest are very wild and it felt like a wonderful adventure.
So if you follow Google maps to the location it will take you into the woods not the actual cemetery. So you need to park across from the two giant cellphone towers cross the street you see a path with a rope fence go pass it and follow the path to the end of the road . Cemetery is on your right and the lake just beyond the cemetery point . Across to the left is the entrance to the woods which are super creepy follow the orange paint on trees to get though the woods to the open fields you want to experience true terror
I went to the cemetery around Halloween to pay my respects and the park wasn’t even closed yet but when I was walking down the path to the road, 6 police officers shined their lights into my eyes walked me to my car and gave me a 50$ parking ticket and said that I was “Trespassing” even though the park was going to close in a hour and a half.
Its not as creepy and interesting as it was - now maintained and landscaped, grass cut weekly, no more wildflowers or vines. Some very rude tour companies have tours on many weekends and act like they own the place. Park across in Rubio Woods. The path to the cemetery is West of the big cell towers.
Amazing place! Went there once, no paranormal activity though. Please respect the place it’s sad people tear graves down, after sunset you can get a ticket, probably best to go at night to try to see a ghost. (Go on a full moon night)
This place is great! Definitely bring the whole family along for this wholesome experience
This place is definitely haunted. I went with a group of people who were attending a seminar about the history of bachelors grove. While there, all of our charged phones died. When I got home, I saw a hooded dark figure in the corner. Very cool if.you would like to experience something, I wont be returning though. We were clearly unwelcomed.
If you’re looking for a scary spot in the middle of the woods, where you can search for spirits, visit Bachelor’s Grove Cemetery. It’s the most haunted cemetery in the world.
This place is great if you need to hide a dead body
Very interesting place to visit
Great place but heavily guarded by police. Theyre very strict about closing at sunset and cost $75 for being there after sunset. Ask me how I know lol Can go there throughout the day with no problems though. Not many graves though.
Neat history. Would love to see more defined walking trails.
We went today. Place was peaceful, nothing creepy or haunting, but one interesting thing happened when we were driving to the place. No sound came from car stereo when playing a cd but voice from maps app (through car audio) was loud even after the volume was made to zero (never had any problem with my car audio before)...Tried few times but no luck but magically everything was working fine when we started back from the location..Also, plz note that you have to park opposite (Rubio Woods parking lot) as there is no parking available for this place. From there you have to walk a bit, cross the road and get into a small trail... Thought of sharing as we were clueless on where to park when we visited the place today.
I was just going for a walk in a forest preserve, and all of a sudden I found myself surrounded by gravestones. At that time there was no fence. I was surprised being in the middle of the graves, and I went back several times just to see them. I had no idea about Bacherol’s Grove Cemetery!
Was taking pictures with my phone. When I was scrolling though the pics., there was one that was blacked out, with a small digital looking upper border. Hard to explain, but never had a problem with the phones pics. Before or after.( like something didn’t want me to take that pic.)
Very popular and what a great place to have in Illinois, haunted sites are awesome. This place isn’t very scary but it does have a mysterious past.. place is quiet and small, but if you take your time and explore the place it’s really fun. Take some fun company with you. Take pictures and just make some cool memories.
Definitely scary. Had orbs show up in pics and weird noises and RBI’s was during the day!
This place is actually haunted. Last summer I went here with my friend in the daytime and there was nobody there really. It was actually kinda peaceful. That same day, me and my friend waited around till it was kinda dark outside and then we went in again. This time there were four other people in there telling my friend and I what they had saw. Then one of the four other people pointed to a house that he saw and at first, I couldnt see the house because it was transparent. Then I started to stare and I actually saw the phantom disappearing house. It was transparent and ghostly looking with a very real looking yellowish orange light that looked kinda like a lantern. The light looked more real than the rest of the house and it appeared to be on the second floor of the house because there was a window on the first and second floor. So yeah. . .this place is definitely haunted and I wanna go back again. : D
We where walking though the trail and my nose started bleeding randomly then we heard a bark
Bachelors Grove Cemetery is a cemetery in Bremen Township, Cook County, Illinois, in Chicagos southwest suburbs, known for its alleged ghost sightings. The cemetery has also been called Bachelor Grove, Batchelor Grove, Batchelders Grove, and Everden (or Everdon).LocationBachelors Grove Cemetery is just northwest of Midlothian and Oak Forest, near the Rubio Woods Forest Preserve on the Midlothian Turnpike (near its intersection with Central Avenue), in the southwest Chicago suburbs.[1][2]BackgroundThe land surrounding Bachelors Grove Cemetery was originally settled by English homesteaders who relocated to the area from New England, including Stephen Rexford, arguably the most well known of the first wave of Anglo settlers, around 1833.[3] Ursula Bielski, author of Chicago Haunts, asserts the actual cemetery was originally named the Everdon Cemetery after the original holder of the property title, Samuel Everdon. The site saw its first official burials around 1840 and contains 82 plots, many of which were never sold or used.[4] Burials, however, possibly go back as far as 1834, when German immigrant workers killed while working on the Illinois and Michigan Canal were reportedly laid to rest at the site.[5] The site is often reported to have been a dumping ground for victims of Chicagos organized crime families of the 1920s and 1930s (including Al Capone), but no evidence of this has been proven.[5]The most common of the reported phenomena at the site typically involves floating orbs of light over tombstones and near collisions with a phantom vehicle.[
Famous for being haunted. Rumors are Capone would have bodies tossed into the swamp. The cemetery belongs to some of the areas founding families. If you go, please be respectful and dont cause any further damage
Peaceful and small. Theres a beautiful shrine for an infant girl. Bring bug spray because they will drive you crazy. Great place to see a little bit of the past. Nothing scary here
Well went in tonight to enjoy one of the many historical sites in the Illinois area. Drove all the way out there from the northside of Chicago, got to the parking lot across the street and when exiting our vechiles, were bombarded by the Forest Preserve Security telling us the lot was closed. Which was fine, I have no issues with following the forest preserve rules. What I do have an issue with is the rude and completely unprofessional way these Security personal spoke to my aunt. We were hit with You need to leave!, We ticket people like you!, and Even if you had relatives dead in there, its pretty late to see them!. If youre half-assed security team new any type of respect for the dead, comments like that wouldnt have been made. Next time Ill watch an episode of Ghost Hunters and save my self the gas money.
The forest preserve police gave me a ticket for being there after hours and the Sheriff gave me a ticket for parking on the street.$75 for a haunted cemetery and a parking ticket ...definitely not worth it.Dont go after sunset.
Relaxing like the creek and the lake saw some ducks
A genuinely creepy place. Having ventured into the Forests Graveyard in the late afternoon, nothing Paranormal could be found except for several withered Marble Graves and lots of Mosquitoes. Not to say that this place ISNT haunted, for we had not gone at night where there was reportedly more activity, but the majority of our experience was lots of Mosquito bites. Ghosts or not, bring lots of repellent!
Interesting little cemetery tucked back in the woods across from the nature preserve park. Walk is pleasant aside from having to run across 4 lanes of traffic like a Frogger game. Old abandoned blacktop road leading to the cemetery is treeimed and presents with an eerie feeling. Old headstones are cool. Make shift shrine to an infant child with visitors leaving coins, trinkets, and small toys is cool but odd for people to have done. Pond behind the cemetery appears to be the run off spot for rains to avoid flooding. As for an hauntings or scariest anything in Illinois or America, well all I have to say is boo squat. Another myth filled cemetery of ghosts and spirits just like Aux Able in Minooka. Truth is theyre old and small in size with BG being completely fenced in like someones yard. But theres no anything other than a wasted trip to both. Nonsense and folklore but lazy internet bloggers and writers. Dont waste the time..
Great history set this site. A must visit if youve never been. Very peaceful and serene.
I went here Summer, 2016 with my dad and friend. I saw nothing, heard nothing, and felt nothing besides all these gnats bugs.. I took a few pics of the cemetery and decided to look at them when i got home. When i got home, i immediately saw that half of the pics i took, were grey.. I imported the pictures to my computer and zoomed all the way in on the 3rd picture. There was a blue orb. I am still freak out till this day, but i am going back next week...
I went there, it was beautiful and quiet exsept the cars in the background, I didnt see. hear or feel anything though.
Been there many times over the years. Day and night. Always a great experience bringing those who have never been there.
Walked around the lake, with the blue haze just light enough to see. On the good nights the mist would settle and you could see the other shore.always muddy
I loved exploring this area!!! Very sad to see all the vandalism though...
Really cool place, lots of history, lots of mystery. Have been here several times, always finding something new.
Very cool will go back again. Met a expert Carl very cool Guy new the history and shared info. This place is across the street from Rubio woods parking lot. Cant miss it right by the com ed generators.
Bachelor grove cemetary is really cool due to the fact it is haunted. as someone interested in the paranormal i loved the fact i could feel the history that was there.
Great place to go. The best part is avoiding the cops at night =)
Do you know about the strange picture from 1991? On the picture was a white lady. I saw this picture in the internet... very spooky!
Went on Friday feb 27 2016. As soon as I walked on the trail something whispered in my ear either hi or die. I got the sensation in my ear of the whisper. I put a quarter on the infinite child grave out of respect. Two friend then under the tree users ouija board. We all got super cold and I heard really loud footsteps in the snow turned around and saw a man in a gray suit walking towards the grave I put the quarter on. I freaked out and they said goodbye and we left.
I was there on Halloween, 1974, at midnight, and quite frankly I would never do that again. Too spooky and creepy. Last time there was in 1976 and I am in no hurry to go back.
Went there in the afternoon and walked around - nothing special to see or hear. I decided to take a few pictures. After the first picture of a headstone I was swarmed over by thousands of mosquitos, gnats and flies. There were so many I had to stop taking pictures and run out of the cemetery. Fifty yards down the road the insects left me alone. I guess somebody didnt want me there.
There is a house that pops up and if you go on to you will never come out I live never it and I go all the time and sometimes I go at night with my mom and dad and the lake in the back of the semester glow. On one of the toomb stones I saw a cras upsidoun with a lighter and 100 penny. After we go to acumen.
Its really spooky but its a nice cemetery to go to .
Been there never went in tho
Se abla de que es el cementerio mas espantoso con apariciones busquenlo en Google/it says that is the crepiest cementery in the World if you dont belive lool for it in internet
I got awesome pictures of ghosts
Done didnt beleve the hype at first look, but when maself and saw all sort of ungodly sights. Ghosts was swoopin ever which way over the road when I drove pas the gate. Once I got in was a sight, wish I woulda rembred to bring film for my camera. A pack of wild ghouls was havin a party on the tombstones, a mummy poked his hed right outta a tomb. Scared me outta my witts so is perled away an saw Count Dracula his self paddlin a boat in the crik. Next trip back Im a comin wit the boys, packed lunch, and a whole mess of ammunition!
Haunted! Ghost adventures went there! I awesome!! (: spooky!
I wish I saw more paranormal activity. But we did hear voices and get some glitching on our camera.
Been there a few times. One night with a full moon. Have not seen anything but a very interesting place. Still need to respect the ones that are buried there.
Instead of letting it be this overgrown ghost attraction there should be a movement to restore the poor place. To allow its poor treatment to continue is just irresponsible.
Ive been there so many times mostly when it was dark and spooky I cant say I seen a ghost but I actually saw something idk what it was I plan on going on Halloween
I. Love. To Go. And. See. Old. Cemetarys. And. Just. Go. In. Side. And. Just. Look
My friend was pinned to a head stone and actually had scratches on his back with bite marks on him as well......once freed we also made the gruesome discovery that he really did mess his pants genuine. Throw away the pants and shorts !!!!
Haunted graveyard

This Is Ghost Adventures...
Dope
I heard you should NEVER come in a full moon night!!!
I enjoyed myself there when I first when there. Being from Chicago, I believe people need to hear more about places like this.
Be careful during Halloween, cops will be hiding along the path to catch any trespassers.
Awesome,very peaceful
There wasnt much to see here... Very anticlimactic. Im going to take a leap here and say not so haunted.
Spent many nights here. Never seen anything!
Very spooky
After dark the cops will nab you
