Decent pond for fishing and great hiking trails (not too strenuous) with stunning views of Meriden, Wallingford and Southington. You can even see New Haven on a clear day.

Great spot, even in a downpour! Trails themselves are beautiful with great views but the parking lot is frequently littered with trash.

A great hiking spot! I parked at the boat launch, where a trail meets the Mattabesset Trail (blue blazed) quickly. There are plenty of impressive overlooks to see the pond and Meriden landmarks within a mile from the parking lot, and you can choose to turn around whenever you want.

It was a rainy day. I was there alone. Sky was beautiful and a heron skimmed the pond. It was a perfect place to be.
