Very interesting and awesome experience. Got to do a self guided tour around the mansion was giving a brief history of the Manor and the families that lived and built it. Was definitely worth the money. Time well spent on our road trip

Staff were fun, knowledgeable, and just provided a wonderful time for the family! The history of the house was thorough and interesting tidbits were also provided, to include the history of furniture, why rooms were used a certain way, and why architectural designs were in place. Certainly worth the time!

We didn’t tour the museum but we attended a wedding on the lawn and spent some time in adjacent buildings that were used for the wedding party getting dressed and hanging out. A very nice place for a unique wedding experience. Beautiful location.

My friends and I did a nighttime tour and it was amazing! The guides were knowledgeable, the house is gorgeous. It was decked out for Victorian mourning when we were there which was fun. I cannot wait to go back and see them set up for Victorian Christmas

Really enjoyed their open house this week. The first Friday of the month, they have a free open house to the public that I believe runs from 5pm to 8pm. This month, they have beautiful Christmas decorations put up throughout the mansion. It looked absolutely beautiful! I would recommend making a visit!

Imperative for the history lover or those seeking a foundational understanding of Memphis. Immersive history - ever changing and well-preserved - they have many historical artifacts and a story for each piece that they rotate depending on season/occasion, but the home itself is the true treasure. Im grateful for those who saw its value and rescued it - down to the original 150 year old ceiling fresco. This was a treat to be a part of for the afternoon.

Beautiful house, friendly and informative guides. Took my mom and aunt here on their visit to Memphis and they loved it. There are a number of stairs (the house has two upper floors plus additional two flights of stairs to see the look out area if you’d like) so keep that in mind if any mobility challenges.Definitely worth a visit if you love older homes, Victorian architecture and insider information about families that helped shape the history of Memphis.

The house is a definite must see!!!!! Beautiful architecture, unique antiques, and breath taking landscape. However the ghost tour guide left much to be desired. Ran her mouth entirely too much, only allowed us into a total of 5 rooms, was extremely rude when any of the group had a question, wore a pig ring in her nose and had the personality of wet mop. As a paranormal investigator for the last 30yrs I was more than disappointed with the ghost tour of this home as it was highly promoted.

Walking into the house was like walking into the 18th century. And on the 3rd floor of the house as I walked past a bedroom I saw a woman standing in the corner by the armoire. I stepped back for a second look and she was gone. Cant wait to visit again!

This was the best wedding venue! We did our wedding ceremony in the ballroom and held the reception in the carriage house. Jennifer, the event director, was so helpful and accommodating. It was really a great value for the money because they only do one wedding per weekend so the can devote their total attention to the event. We rented The James Lee House, the bed and breakfast next door, which really helped things go smoothly. I highly recommend doing a wedding this way. My groom and I are fairly type-a, and we did not have one meltdown. It was my perfect princess wedding!

This was a great experience. The volunteer guide Rosemary did an excellent job and knew every detail about the house and the antiques featured there. The restoration is beautiful and it is an amazing experience to walk through and think about how people might have lived 150 years ago. I am very glad we made the time to visit.

Simply amazing home built on Millionaires Row in Memphis in the late 1800s... It was phenomenal and the restoration has been exceptional... Georgia and all the other people that work there sincerely have their hearts in this project and they are wonderful to talk with and have incredibly deep knowledge of the area and the people... Well worth the money and exceptional value

The Woodruff Fontaine House Museum is a must-see for visitors and life-long Memphians. This glorious Victorian mansion has been home to two families that helped shape the city of Memphis, as well as both an art school and the current museum that are continuing to help shape the city of Memphis. The Woodruff Fontaine House has something amazing to offer everyone: those interested in historical properties, those interested in historical textiles (dresses) or furniture, those interested in beautiful grounds and landscaping, for those interested in the paranormal (the house is believed to be the home to many family spirits), and to those just looking to learn more about Memphis. I encourage everyone to take the time to visit . The staff is always amazing and very knowledgeable.

Gorgeous! One can go on a self guided or group tour. Currently the theme is about Mourning perhaps it is because we are near Halloween, or just a learning experience. Therefore the house is having a Victorian Funeral, teaching the customs of that Victorian Era of how a widow would & family would respond when their is a death to a family member. From family customs to social customs to morning fashion. It was not grimm, but very educational. The details in the home, from the architect to the interior decor to the grounds, all are stunning. If you love this era, and enjoy historical sites, this is a must see. Give yourself 2-2.5 hours to enjoy. Then grab the walking tour guide for the neighborhood of beautiful homes, or drive it as well. This would be boring for children under the age if 10, & great even if you were a party if one, like me. Hope this helps,.

I have posted more than once about Woodruff- Fontaine House. I always learn something new when I tour it. Unique things to check out like: an actual chair owned by Charles Dickens, necklaces made out of human hair, the signatures (on a door that leads no where) of all the men who built the house, furniture created specifically for individuals who were courting each other/dating for marriage, a look out point at the very top of the house. You could easily spend a few hours here. The tour guides are ALL incredibly knowledgeable. ASK THEM ANYTHING ABOUT THE HOUSE, THE PERIOD, AND THE PEOPLE WHO LIVED AND WORKED IN THE HOUSE... even the spirits that remain in the house.

The Woodruff-Fontaine House is a fascinating testament to Memphis history! The staff there is incredibly knowledgeable about the history of the house and the impact of the Woodruffs and the Fontaines on the development of Memphis, as well the details of day-to-day life in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The house museum is decorated with furniture from relevant timeframes and features many interesting artifacts, including a few that belonged to well-known historical figures. The staff regularly host events and themed parties at the house, like the Speakeasy in April and Haunted Happenings near Halloween, as well as various other events throughout the year.Lastly, the house is available for weddings and rentals, and is home to a few other-worldly residents, whom you can meet on a ghost tour!
