We had such a good time! There is an informative video and many cool artifacts! The staff were very friendly, helpful, and kind. The outdoor area was fascinating! The trail is well maintained and so pretty! There are a few decent hills and some bridges to get across eroded areas. Will definitely be coming back! The only picture I have is this pretty leaf. I was too distracted enjoying it to take pictures.
What a great experience for children. Shilling Farms Elementary School extended the learning experience by visiting the Indian artifact museum. Long distance, but well worth the drive. There is a small gift shop. And a hands on exhibit for the children to touch and feel and create conversations. Also the scavenger hut had them reading exhibits, reading questions and searching for answers - great group cooperation. They were also able to hand make pottery bowls to take home. Great Field-Trip!
Good home- style lunch in an area where there are few restaurants.
Preserving First Peoples history takes a new level at this awesome place!
Very nice view of ancient Native American grounds. Great nature walk. Informative displays and a good video show.
Nicely laid out. Small but well done
We were able to partake in a craft, practice our skills with the atlatl and wander the grounds. Everyone was very helpful &answered all our questions. Small museum with great history.
Had a blast! Very informative on the Mississippi Valley Tribes, especially the Chactaw. The nature trails are great too. Cant wait to return.
It was Awesome! Havent been since I was a kid. I decided to take my boys. They enjoyed it. Lots of history. Worth the drive
Something for the hole family. Jung and oldVery educational
So much history. More than just the Indian village.
I was there in the late sixties, early seventies. There were skeletons and pottery displayed on raised ground. I was a child and remember being amazed and the smell of Earth. It made such an impression that I wanted to be an archaeologist. Ended up being a nurse.
Neat museum lots of hands on great for the kids.
A nice archeology museum. It had a small inside exhibit, a nature trail, a replica house, and of course the earthen mounds.
I think ordinarily, we would have given this place four stars. But today was a family fun day. There was a lot of activities to do. We had a lot of fun. I would recommend people coming here especially for a family fun day.
They have a great informational video. Also, ask to throw Atl-Atls.
A neat little museum to learn about native and black culture in the area that you don’t read about in textbooks. Make sure to do the nature trail and the activity room. It’s small but it’s a good place for a short morning or afternoon trip (two hours max). Just don’t go within 90 minutes of closing or they’ll remind you every ten minutes of when they close.
Outstanding job bringing the historcial past to the present.
We really enjoyed this place. Lots of information and great trails. Some need to be cleaned up though.
Pitiful! The indoor museum was ok, pretty much the standard collection of arrowheads and bead work. The outdoor part was a disgrace. The few educational beds with medical herbs, crops etc were totally neglected and overgrown. Grass was tall and unkempt. The one and only dwelling that used to demonstrate the inside of a house was locked. Considering the lengthy drive required to get to the museum, the experience was a total waste of time and gas.
Beautiful land, awesome staff, worth the hike.
The ONLY Museum I have ever visited where the exhibits are ALIVE.There are Living First Nation People working there. Therefore it is SURELY a Cultural Centre.?The First Nation People havent gone away you know? They are NOT history.Surreal.5 Stars for the Patience of the Stuff. They are wonderful.Inspirational to those of us in Ireland who need to Learn Patience.
Definitely a hidden but must see gem. The exhibits are small but interactive. There is also an African American exhibit inside as well. I highly recommend a visit!
Small, not much going on. Good learning experience for kids.
National Park Chucalissa village is a wonderful Native Indian site for 3,000 years, on the bluff overlooking the Mississippi River at Memphis
Had a great learning experience and service. A must if you come to Memphis, TN
Very interesting. Mound building and new culture
Fabulous exhibits inside, outside they have volunteer students teaching, garbology, gardening, spear throwing, etc. What a great place!
There was a very nicely assembled little museum part. I felt like they didnt push themselves very hard to make it VERY engaging or authentic at some points. The whole operation only took my family 35 or 40 min.
Go and learn . .. great place to take kids
The trail is grown and unsafe for children and steps are missing with met rods sticking out from the ground. The staff could have warned us or just mentioned it because we had a baby in a stroller. They showed real interest in each other and not in the only visitors they had at that time, I hope they get married soon!! It was out first time there and really looked forward to it. Won’t be back there!! It was awful. Hope they use the donations to buy a lawnmower
Wonderful little site just outside of Memphis. Friendly staff, nice educational little spot
Havent got to go yet. Looking forward to checking it ou tho.
