It’s very educational, the skeleton & dinosaurs were cool to see.But other than that it’s more for Adults, unless your child is a huge history fanatic. Worth the $15?My personal opinion, no.
We got invited here by an acquaintance so did not have to pay. This is a decent museum with a really eclectic collection of historical and scientific exhibits. The miniature 3 ring circus is incredible. The staff is very nice and the museum store carries a LOT of stuff including some older candy brands and sodas. Kids had a good time. Definitely worth a visit when in Memphis.
Museum is clean and beautiful palace. But if you go to museums frequently you might have seen a lot of the same things before. So it was kind of boring to my husband and I. But the planetarium was amazing, the shows were very informational and the manager who runs it showed us some amazing things at the end. I would highly recommend coming here for the planetarium.
Always an enjoyable experience. Took my 10yo grandson to see the Race to the End of the World exhibit about the Amundsen an Scott expeditions to Antarctica, which was extremely well done. But since he hadnt visited town in 4yrs, he really wanted to tour the Old Mansion as it was closed for renovation last time he was there. On the July 4 weekend, the museum was not crowded at all and masks worn by everyone. We stopped at gift shop as always and he got a toy and I bought a museum coffee mug for my daughters birthday which was matt black with hot pink logo of the museum. I only wished they had pp t shirts in stock but I understand they are working on an online site for the gift shop which may be up by Christmas 2020.
Friendly service! Taking extra steps to to help with safety of covid-19. The planetarium had a new part to it !It was lots of fun kiddo had a blast!
Pretty cool place to spend a few hours. The museum is nice and has some very cool specimens. Enjoyed the house and miniature circus as well. Definitely worth the time and price.
Weve been several times and mostly enjoyed it as usual. Unfortunately, we did not get to see some of our favorite exhibits as most of the mansion wing was closed for a private event. Wish we had been told that up front before we paid full price for half an experience. The planetarium show was fun, though. Probably our last time.
A history nerd walks into a museum of awesomeness the place was GREAT!
I couldnt highly recommend The Pink Palace enough as a wedding and reception venue. The teams communication couldnt be beat, as they responded quickly to all of my questions along the way. They even went above and beyond in the wedding planning process, helping me set my timeline for the day, offering advice, and recommending visitors. I didnt have to hire a wedding planner, because I felt like the Pink Palace team helped me fill in those gaps any way. They were all kind, friendly, patient, and so on the ball from the time we booked all the way through the end of the party. You wont find a better deal on a venue in town. Their very reasonable fee includes so much that other venues charge extra for or simply dont do. And after the fact, I had tons of wedding guests raving about the venue. They loved the multiple spaces, which was great for allowing the guests who want to chat to go into one area and the ones who want to dance be in another. Booking the Pink Palace for your big day should be a no brainer!
Let me start by saying the attendant at the ticket desk was short with us and acted as if we were bothering her when we asked questions. We went for the Laser Holidays light show in the planetarium. I didn’t have much as far as expectations, but the show did not meet my expectations (if that makes sense). It was very much geared towards kids. It would have been nice to know that before we bought the tickets. Also, there were loud kids in there that took away from the experience. We learned that the museum is free after 4pm and took advantage of that after the laser show. The museum was interesting. I enjoyed seeing the replica of an old Piggly Wiggly store. Also, the medical exhibits were intriguing. Since we went in December, there were many Christmas trees beautifully decorated on the 2nd floor. The museum stays open later on Friday nights and have what’s called Fab Fridays. It was slow on this particular Friday and not so fab. I definitely think the Pink Palace is worth visiting, but as a one time thing.
Worth a visit! Exhibits display everything from crystals & minerals to taxidermy and local history. Theres also a large cinema where you can watch educational films. Check with the front desk (or website) for film times & prices.Even the gardens at the Pink Palace are beautiful! When I last visited, there was a professional photographer taking pictures of a young lady in her quinceñera gown. If you are having a formal event, Pink Palace would be a really nice backdrop for your photos!
Ive been here many times over the years and throughout my childhood. I think every kid who was born and raised in Memphis has had at least one field trip here. Admission is free on Tuesday so definitely expect that to be a busy day. If youve never been, I highly recommend going especially if you have children. The museum has a large variety of interactive exhibits. There truly is something for everyone. You will without a doubt come across something that interests you. Prepare to easily spend 3-5hrs here.
Some of the exhibits and theater were closed due to covid-19 but overall a really nice museum and larger than expected.
John Mullikin was incredibly helpful and made the whole experience incredible!
They have made wonderful adjustments to get through the C19 time. We were happy to get to go.
Just amazing!!!
Little bit expensive for what it offers, planetarium has a quality screen but movies are too short ~25 min only. 3D theater was also kind of OK with limited 3D experience and somewhat blurry images, nice collection of artifacts if you are interested in those sort of things, I gave 2 stars only because they had a full Mammoth Skeleton and a moving Dinosaur.
I got married at the Pink Palace. I was promised renovations would be complete when I signed the contract to book the venue. They were nowhere near complete by my wedding. There was construction going on that they hid with curtains and tons of empty display cases. No one even apologized. They didn’t tell me until MY REHEARSAL that the renovations would not be complete. My wedding coordinator was extremely rude and probably the most lifeless person I’ve ever met, the opposite of what you want on your wedding day. I asked my coordinator for some information regarding music, which he never got back to me on. So, my ceremony music had to be changed just minutes before my wedding. This coordinator actually yelled at me on my wedding day regarding one of the guests, rather than handling the matter himself. The venue was absolutely stunning and the bride / groom quarters were great, but i was beyond disappointed in the staff. With no help to the Pink Palace staff, my wedding day actually turned out great, thanks to my other vendors.
Such a beautiful stately place of learning and entertainment.
Its Free on Tuesdays. It was nice to walk through and see their displays, the dinosaurs and elephants were awesome to look at. The space center showed us the stars as of that day and it was fun pointing them out. A nice collection of fossils and rocks as well. This was a great experience for my little guy! Its a sunny yet breezy day out so I decided to make the Pink Palace apart of our day out. I had a voucher to use for the museum entry- my little one was free and the 3D Big Dream was $10
Most of it was closed and no cell service to get an uber when we left.
Was a nice place, fun to explore and be amazed! The gift shop was full of all kinds of wonders at affordable prices, the restrooms were clean, and the employees were very nice! Its a very unique place to explore Memphis history! Definitely coming back here soon!
Hours of entertainment. A little warm, but they had a lovely collection, and wonderful displays. More history than science, and the food court wasnt wonderful.
Whimsical beauty nestled in a posh midtown location. Historical charm, five star elegance in a central location to accommodate the convenience of most Bluff City patrons!
This place is a lot of fun. They have a wide variety of exhibits to explore. Give yourself at least an hour and half if not 2 hours to get thru all of the exhibits. So much of the displays are something Ive never seen before, very informative and educational. After the exhibits we went to the planetarium to watch We are Aliens. Wow it was so cool, you can get a little dizzy, but it was very awesome to watch and the man running the video was very knowledgeable and funny. He even took extra time to show us some constellations of the current nights sky. The whole experience was very fun and would go back!
Nice museum with interesting and fun exhibits. Takes at least a few hours to casually explore. Highly recommend visiting.
Wonderful culture and history there. I enjoy my time there with my aunt and my grandma.
Interesting hodge podge of history but hard to be impressed if youve been to larger museums like HMNS or Smithsonian. Circus was down for maintenance and lobby/adjacent rooms were being set up for a wedding. Could easily be walked in less than an hour. And definitely not worth the price of admission ($30 for two adults). Free parking.
Excellent place with free summer admission for families. Lots of antiques and historical art and information. I love the member only events.
The pink palace is a beautiful building made with pink stones. Ask the security guards for the history of the mansion. The staff is very nice and helpful. We got a coupon from our hotel that gave us a free entrance along with a purchase. There is plenty of free parking. We started with the natural history exhibits and enjoyed the gems collection as well as the dinosaurs. They have a history about piggly wiggly and the circus detail with its intricate carving by Mr Parker. We enjoyed the history of Memphis as well and its medical history. We purchased extra tickets for the enchanted forest and saw holiday village and Christmas city with trains. You can also take a pic with Santa. The best part was the Christmas trees decorated with different themes we loved the Harry Potter tree. It took us about 2 hours to complete the museum. A must visit in Memphis.
Nice place to visit as family, as of right now theres a lot of renovations going on, its expected to be all done in june
I havent been to the museum as an adult and it was wonderful walking through and seeing all of the exhibits. It was very enlightening to see the evolution of humans and walking through the mock Piggly Wiggly. Loved it.
My family and I are visiting from Texas and came here to learn about Memphis. The outside was beautiful... the exhibits inside were very informational and told a lot about the history. If you are new to the area, I would suggest going here as they give information about the history of Memphis. If you have children then they would enjoy the circus exhibit. Overall a very cool place to go and helped us learn about the area.
I love the huge museum, bring everyone to this amazing place
A great place to see history and teach our children
Could use a bit of updating, but the building and exhibits are well taken care pfnfornthe most part.My family and I had a great time and learned some interesting things.
I love the history of the Pink Palace. The way the man who created it is honoured. The way the Memphis history is displayed.I learned about Polar Bear hair there. I liked just everything about the place. I was in a planetarium for the first time in my life. If I lived closer I would go again, and again, and again, and again. It was a wonderful glimpse into a culture I never really understood. The caring and the strength of the Memphis Society were very visible in every aspect of the Pink Palace Museum.
Great times @ an amazing location!
If you are in Memphis on Tuesday, this is one of several museums that offers free admission. I didnt initially understand that this is a whole complex, owned by the city of Memphis. It grew from the acquisition of the partially completed mansion that was commissioned in the 1920s by Clarence Saunders, the Piggly Wiggly magnate who lost it in bankruptcy. It is now part of a very large campus that houses a planetarium, IMAX 3D theatre and the museum. It is possible to go to just one of the attractions or all of them. We only did the museums which include natural history, cultural history specific to Memphis and the South and an eclectic collection inside the Pink Palace. The latter includes mansions history and that of Saunders. It also houses the Clyde Parke Circus upstairs - a miniature mechanical circus created by a famed modeler. There are interactive circus themed games for children, as well.
Quite nice, we stumbled upon this place and it had free admission for Tuesday. Interesting to walk around
Awesome place to take the kids. Great Memphis history exhibits!
Worth a few hours to go through the exhibits, there is some interesting stuff to be seen. The staff was friendly and the museum clean. Im not sure it is worth buying a year pass for, but paying for a single visit is well worth the money.
Cool little museum. We just did the main history museum part. Didnt take very long but the displays are really well done.
I Have visited The Pink Palace Museum countless times over many years. As a child, and then to take my children here, it is a Beautiful Place to enjoy. The History of the building it self, could be enough, but there is so much more, with The changing Events and Exhibits, the IMax, and the Planetarium.
A great place for a family outing! The mechanical circus is wonderful!. Interesting history about the founder of Piggly Wiggly. The T-Tex is one of the highlights of the visit. This is a great educational place for kids, of all ages. This will take about an hour and a half to tour the whole facility. So go out and learn all you can, about the Pink Palace!
A lot of historical information here, presented in a way that I believe makes learning fun for all. Went in with my daughter today and we had a great time. She needed to do a review on one gallery and one museum and we both enjoyed the trip. Will definitely be back for another visit soon.
Awesome educational experience!
Extremely educational and enjoyable.
Very small amount of exhibits and not terribly kid friendly. If you have gone once dont bother going for another ten years. Which to me is forgivable as long as that one time is enjoyable. Unfortunately because of some extremely rude staff it was not. I cannot endorse a busines that treats there customers as rudely as the treated me and my son.
I am here from Dallas to see a nephews wedding. This is an extremely well kept historical building, with a great and helpful staff.I would be crazy not to mention a great place for outdoor and indoor weddings.Keep up the great work Pink Palace.Ask for Christine & Conner with Drapers Catering
Great place for the family. Awesome museum and imax. Kinda pricy tho
Great experience. Be sure to check out the scheduled miniature circus displays. We started with a show at the planetarium. It was amazing. Slightly disorienting at times. Then we saw the natural history exhibits. Much more extensive than I expected. The local history exhibit is so extensive you could read stories all day. The museum exhibit has lots of cool historical items. Its not as pink as you may think.
This is a wonderful example of a museum that blends local history with cultural, natural, and science history as well. The recent renovations were made with care and consideration which is palpable as you walk through the halls of the mansion. The charm of this place has not changed since I was a kid and now Im sharing that magic with my child and will for years to come. Do yourself and your family a favor and step back in time to the historic Pink Palace Mansion and Museum. I promise youll learn something new and get a sense of why Memphis is such a unique place!
Havent been in a long time. Its always been interesting and enjoyable.
Went to my cousins wedding here. Having the pink museum/mansion in the background made for some great pics. It was memorable.
Friendly staff. Fun 3d theatre and great exhibits.
Great museum
This is the perfect place to bring high energy on a rainy day. There are so many interactive exhibits for children of all ages, ( although they cater to 10 and under ). Those who have inquisitive children will appreciate the learning opportunities. For those were younger children just let them play and be kids. Hours of operation are good: Everyday, ( excluding holidays ), from 9-5. In addition, to inside activities there are also things to interest your kids outside as well. It can be pretty crowded but strollers are allowed. There is a vending machine and you can also pack your own lunch and have a picnic outside. Admission is $15.00 but you can stay all day if you really want to be frazzled.Parking is $4.00
A museum my nephew actually enjoyed.
This is a really nice and fun place!!! I love coming here every time I visit family in Memphis! There is even a REAL SHRUNKIN HEAD!!! It’s sooo cool!!!!! Definitely a good place to take your kids. Very educational! They will have lots of fun while learning all about many things!!!
The Enchanted Village remains so.
Great family friendly museum. Imax theater is definitely a must.
Marvelous exhibits and great staff and food. Thanks! The IMAX was amazing watching Apollo 11.
As always a great place to take a family or go visit by yourself
The mansion was very nice and had lots of interesting facts. Enjoyed the exhibits.. however the lady at customer service was not helpful. Told her it was our first time and asked questione regarding the movies and she kept typing the whole time and was not helpful.... as soon as my husband came to help me out she was full of info that she had never said before. Also my kids were bored with the movie so we left early. Should have gone to the childrens museum.... wanted to try something new...
Awesome! Tickets are worth the price. This museum is one of the best places to visit in Memphis, besides Graceland. The museum is decent sized and has many interesting exhibits. You can learn lots of science and history from this museum. The Piggly Wiggly inside the museum is the best part. Highly recommend you go here it you are visiting Memphis.
Every summer, we go to the Pink Palace for the children to enjoy. The museum was great. The exhibits are well done. We went last before the current renovations. One thing is that we will only use cash at the cafe and such, as last time, my credit card was scammed and the police traced it to the cafe in the museum. However, the overall environment is good and getting better. One criminal will not ruin the good museum.
Enjoyable place to spend day seeing 1700 Memphis history. 3D movies interesting, but not worth cost. Planetarium intersection but very elementary and expensive for such show.
Had a great time with Santa.
Pink Palace is a two story museum with a planetarium, 3D theater, and lots of exhibits. The planetarium was neat and informational. Adults and children both enjoyed it. The 3D movie about the ocean which held your attention. The sea was beautiful. It is worth a visit.
Not worth going to anymore. Theyve gone up in prices, and they now rent the mansion out. Save you money. Full price for only 2 exhabits. Go to the zoo or the mall. They are more interesting. I grew up going here and they NEVER rented the mansion out before.
Wonderful experience
We go once a year during the summer and this year my 3 kids and I could only spend 1 hour in the Museum and that was pushing it because there just isn’t a lot of engaging exhibits. It’s in desperate need of some updates. Best part was the gift shop!
Absolutely love this place. Wife loves this place. Between my little girl, preteen son, and teenager. They have different exhibits to make us all love the pink palace museum.
Ive been visiting this museum all my life and Ive always loved it! The permanent exhibits are beautiful and informative enough on their own but they also have temporary exhibits that are always fascinating. There are several interactive exhibits. A new projection dome was added recently for planetarium shows and the like. And the imax is wonderful: the glasses fit over prescription well enough and there is a concessions stand.I cant wait to see the mechanical circus display is finished being repaired~!
I work there its a great place to visit.
This place is both grand and immaculate. The staff did an amazing job to help ensure the Kindle Awards Gala was awesome.
The Pink Palace Museum is a great place to visit. They have one floor dedicated to mostly earth science and another that covers mostly history. The planetarium is impressive. They are in the process of undertaking a huge remodel and giving the entire place a facelift. I can hardly wait to see the results.
Interesting, eclectic collection of natural and cultural history. The mansion was off limits during our visit, which was disappointing, but the two exhibits that were open were pretty neat.Parking was spacious and the grounds were well kept. Looking forward to another visit to see the palace.
Unique museum ! The circus exhibit is amazing (:
Love it my wife work there my lil girl love it also
They have a faux IMAX theater, but is NOT a real Imax.
Today was a lot of fun. The whole family enjoyed our time walking through the musium and eating at the musium eatery. Also spent time going through the shops. Didnt get a chance to see a movie at the 3D theatre but I hear its great too. We will go next time for sure.
It’s a really great for families! Also field trips as well!
This is an interesting place to take the kids for an afternoon. I strongly recommend the CTI Big Screen due to their interesting documentaries and you have to try the Planetarium at least once for the experience. Try to go when they are not doing construction on the museum/house section for a more thorough experience. It is one of my more favorite parts of the place and unfortunately I had to miss out on my last visit due to this. They have a shrunken head that I always like to go see.
This is always been a great place to go. The ilex its definitely a really cool experience especially as a kid and continues on as an adult. I like that they play The Polar Express and other Christmas themed things at Christmas time. You wouldnt think saying something on a big big screen would make much of a difference but it really does. My favorite is the original Piggly Wiggly store replica. It was a nice try continuing on the Enchanted Forest but quite honestly it was a disappointment this year. If they would just cut out the scavenger hunt allowing lets kids to run around and be loud and just Braddy it might have been a little better experience. The Festival of trees is always cool to see. Wasnt as good this year but it changes every year it wasnt bad though its hard to mess up Christmas lights and decorating trees everyone is creative and different
I really didnt think that my 3 year old would enjoy this but she and my older 2 (9 & 11) LOVED it. They had an awesome living dinosaur display. My son who hates pictures was going to every single exhibit saying, get a picture of me. We also went into the planetarium and 3D movie here. And, again, my kids loved it
So much to see in the museum. Really enjoyed it. Free on Tuesday! Wasnt to excited about 3D Extreme Weather and Planetarium about Sun. Too bad Pink Palace is under renovation but Im sure it would of been amazing too. Kids enjoyed experience!
The Pink Palace is a fun and educational place. There are exhibits that go for a few months and then switch out, but they are always unique. I have to admit though, most of them consist of dinosaurs or relate to them.
Great place and great price. Adults and kids alike will enjoy. The planetarium was special.
Great place to visit
Very interesting experience. Eclectic mix of items. Good place to spend 2-4 hours (or longer if do one of the movies). The mock-up of the first Piggly Wiggly is really cool.
Love the place. You must see the shows in the planetarium, the best part of it all.
The planetarium is amazing. The gift store is a great place to by cool gifts for kids in elementary school. Lots of Memphis history and other great exhibits. Closer to Midtown than it might seem.
Have a lot of cool stuff for the kids!
Loved the whole experience. The staff were friendly and helpful. The Enchanted Forest is amazing!!!
I was there just to pick up some of the solar eclipse sunglasses. The line was long, but moved fairly fast. The only place in Memphis, TN I could find that had them.
Loved the planetarium and 3D theaters. The exhibits were OK, many of my friends and then including myself, felt that most of the exhibits focused way to much on Race. All the exhibits had something on how one race was oppressed by the other and to be quite honest, its completely pointless. The museum gave focus only on the role of blacks in Memphis, not giving credit for others that have accomplished things too. In the WW1 part they only pointed out the race difference in the officers. Why cant they talk about the trenches instead?
The Science of Beer was AWESOME! One of a kind Memphis treasure. Been going here since I was a kid in grade school. You gotta see the famous Shrunken Head!
