A fantastic hike through shaded woods :) this was my first time here and it was beautiful. It was a hot day out but with all the shade during your adventure you dont really notice the heat. There are nice streams to walk along and youll see lots of fish and turtles. Plenty of places to sit, relax, and or to take in the sights of many different plant species. Being inside the garden removes the outside noise and allows one to thoroughly enjoy a beautiful space. Enjoy!
Definitely a must see when visiting Melbourne. There are several short scenic trails, paths, and small streams that feed into Crane Creek. A wide variety of colorful plants. Great place to take small children, to have a lunch date, or take pictures. Finding parking was difficult. All of the spots in Parking lot 16 were taken. Had to drive around to find visitor parking elsewhere on the campus.
Although we were only able to see a very little of the garden due to most being closed off, the little that we did see was amazing. It felt like we were in Hawaii or some other tropical place. Cant wait to come back and see the rest of the garden. Parking can be confusing as signs state that only cars with stickers can park there. How can this be a public garden of only students and staff can park there?
It wasnt fully open to the public but from what I could see very nice scenery and great place to visit with kids.
One of my favorite places to take a relaxing walk. The waterscapes are a great compliment to the botanicals
Beautiful place. Just did professional photographs there and was amazing
Im not a natural person but it was okay~! I think because of covid or maybe its not the right time of year but is not as bright and pretty as these pictures however I did see cute turtles and huge spider webs~♡ will go back but not right now.
The sunlight is filtered and not completely blocked out. It makes for great afternoon walks. The paths are maintained well and marked where nature has taken its course. Options for dirt or man made paths. The stream running through the garden is soothing.
Quiet and lush on-campus garden. Lots of shade but, on the same token, not a lot of opportunity for breezes. There are several arched foot bridges over the quaint creeks running throughout. As of my visit, paved path has heaved or been broken in spots.
This garden is beautiful. There was only one down fall - all the trash that disrespectful, rude humans leave behind! It wasnt a lot but enough that we noticed and was sad to see. Other than that this park was quiet, Zen feeling, peaceful, beautiful and was so nice to finally visit.
What a gem, loved exploring this garden. Lovely fauna that was sometimes labeled
Its was closed but it was nice trails.would like to go back.
This is a beautiful and FREE asset for a town. I really liked the walk. The interesting thing was that there was a bunch of ancillary paths as well. It was cool sort of exploring although it felt kind of rogue at times. It’s a good place for a walk but isn’t really a place to learn much about a species of flowers or trees
Easy walking paths. Beautiful waterways, filled with fish and turtles. Takes about an hour to go through. Old historic 1863 Melbourne school on path.
Nice to walk through but easily get lost. A few paths lead to dead ends. Very pretty and open tho! Water has lots of turtles in them. A bit busy due to it being in the middle of the school but still a great, free place to go walk around!
What a gem! A great place for a Sunday afternoon stroll, especially when youve been cooped up in your place for three months. A wonderful little respite in Floridas natural environment. Nicely played, @FloridaTech.
Most of the paths were closed. Looks like it would be a nice place
An excellent place to go spend some time on a day off for something to do if youre a nature lover.
Fun for family. Beautiful and well kept up.
I always enjoy my daily walk through the beautiful gardens! Great place for family photos
Perfect for small kids. Its not huge and it has clear pathways. And a little pond area with fish and turtles. I do wish they had bathrooms and signs for plants but my kids loved it
Beautiful place. Love the butterfly garden.
A very nice place for a leisurely stroll or to take advantage of the seats to enjoy the lush environment. A wonderful variety of palms and other plants with the trail following a stream.
Hidden gem! Ive lived here for decades but only visited recently. I will definitely return!
Very beautiful Florida nature at its best. Florida Institute of Technology however needs to have visitor parking so visitors can enjoy the park and make that parking visible and easy to find. Otherwise than that a great adventure.
This is a nice Botanical park with paved trails. It is small but is also convenient. It is just a nice little place to get away from the noise of everyday life. Since it is on the FIT campus, there are usually students around. Having said that, it may still be best to leave the park at dusk.
Beautiful place. My friends and family love it here.
I was disappointed there were not more flowers & signs stating what the plants are. But, school is closed due to covid 19, so maybe when they reopen it will be different?
Been there done that. Not worth a detour. Nice palm park. Just found some few flower plants.
This was a nice place to walk around and experience a little tropical tranquility. There is free parking on the west side. There is also a nice cafe nearby on campus with reasonable prices and good food.
Great first date spot. Wish the walk ways were paved better Im clumsy and almost fell.
WOW this is one of the best botanical garden. This is a must see an the experience is will never be forgotten. Have fun
A nice lovely walk.
Normally I love walking through these gardens. However, today a majority of it was locked and inaccessible. There were no signs anywhere stating that the majority of the gardens were closed. I was there with my one month old, so it really wasnt worth getting him, the stroller and the diaper bag out of the car. Really wish there had been some kind of notice.
Very cool atmosphere with lots of plants, but not much wildlife besides raccoons and squirrels. Most paths are paved well, but some are not and get very muddy. Some of it feels very run down. It is a cool feature Florida Institute of Technology.
Great place to relax and chill...read a book
Beautiful...a must see...
It’s so beautiful and my 8 year old loved it!
Very pretty, but very hot in July.
Small garden. Relaxing. Narrow smooth pathways. Its kept trimmed. Picturesque places to take nice nature photos. I enjoy this Garden best in the morning or late afternoon
Lovely bridge, trails, turtle pond. Beautiful and relaxing. Great place to take portraits. Limited parking but I have always found a spot.
I feel like these could be taken care of way better by the university, but still brought back some times from college, which was nice. Love that the turtles are still going strong
Be careful, when there is a rain, there will be a flood. The road will become a river, lol
A hidden gem. Well taken care of. My children loved all the turtles.
Nice shady walk during the Summers heat.
Awsome gardens to visit. The people FIT were very friendly. If you are not a student there it may be difficult to find parking.
Beautiful, lush, and colorful, even in December. It can be hard to figure out where to find this place and where to park. Google Maps doesnt help! Park in the parking lot at the northwest corner of Babcock and University. The entrance to the gardens is right off that parking lot, marked with signs.
It was really nice . Grear quiet place to unwind
Nice place to go for a calm and peaceful walk
Nice, relaxing gardens with a little pond that runs through the area. I didnt know that it was on a university campus though, and its A LOT smaller than I anticipated. Regardless, it appears well kept and beautiful
Very cool look at the way some of Florida looked like before civilization moved in. Another spot also is the Erna Nixin Hammock.
The botanical gardens is a great place for photo shoots. Very serene and peaceful, all the plants and walkways beat all others in brevard!
Tranquility for a nice stroll. I love this place.
Beautiful tropical sanctuary; quiet and peaceful. Great for a photo shoot.
Great place to walk and have a moment of peace.
Beautiful a must see
Can be a little tough to find but its a lovely place to go for a calming stroll.
Beautiful place to relax and enjoy the calm.
This is at the florida tech on back in Melbourne. Great scenery for picturesWear comfortable shoes.
Such a nice place for a leisurely stroll through beautiful foliage.
Closed to public. No reason why?
Beautiful Oasis in the middle of a very busy collegiate campus! I loved it here. :)
Very cool
Great trails to walk with a peaceful stream flowing near most trails. Excellent place for nature photography!
Nice little trail, saw some birds, fish, and cool plants.
I absolutely love this place. Its beautiful. I moved out of state but everytime Im back home for a visit I make sure to make time to visit the gardens.
Nice for a walk and pokemon
Love this place!
Such a beautiful area to walk through. Great for a romantic stroll :)
A little hard to find. Very nice for getting out for a walk
Beautiful location. we took family photos here and it was gorgeous!
Its a great place to kill stress for students. Dont come at night. Lots of mosquitoes
As I was going for picture taking with the family. The trail paths has needed to be more clear, make the trail path clean. Some dead trees with no leaves or branches need to be cut down because there are other bugs like beehives or wasps nest are living in it could be dangerous for people who are passing by. It just need to be heavily maintained. Other than that it is good place to go and hangout.
Beautiful place to get professional pics done!
If you are a student at Florida Tech and need some time to decompress and relax look no further. Sit on a bench, close your eyes, and let the sound of a running stream help you forget about your failing classes, overdue assignments, and/or failed group projects. If you are feeling extra brave bring a hammock. There is plenty of trees and space for everyone. Also, if you ever need a lemon, there is a lemon tree hidden in the garden. The lemons are 3/5 stars, but dont tell the tree that because its doing its best.
Brought my toddlers to look at the plans and animals in the garden. We had fun looking at the fish and turtles in the pond and walking around on the paths. They like following the creek around the winding paths and crossing the bridges. A good place to unwind and take in some greenery.
A quiet attractive place that people often go to take pictures or eat a relaxing lunch with some turtles. Just dont go too soon after a big storm because it will have overflown and put sand everywhere.
Nice to check out if you are already on campus, because it is small. Nice shade and turtle pond.
I would recommend changing the name to a nature walk. The tiny mossy fountain is beautiful and very peaceful to read beside.
In a city of concrete urban sprawl, I loved walking through these dense jungle woods back in the nineties when I was attending the exorbitantly priced FIT. There was something Zen-magical about this lonely place and it seemed to erase my stress as I passed through the thicket and palm reeds. I explored every square inch of this special space.I have so many happy memories sitting silently by the slowly meandering stream and quieting my mind as the jungle surrounding me seemed to rustle softly, oxygenate the air and made me feel so peacefully alive.Im grateful it still exists despite the fact they carved some of it up in the last decade to put up some spec formula multi resident units.
Very nice for a free garden to walk around. Only knock would be that the trails are not marked.
First time there, was very good, lots of exercise, interesting fauna and fish. We saw a small alligator in the brook. Lots of water, more than I thought there would be. Highly recommend.
This pace is great. Honestly. Enjoy it. Lots of nature.
Very rustic and peaceful
Beautiful place
Beautifully maintained natural Florida landscape and gardens with walk ways for easy access. The best access is from the Babcock Street entrance
Very nice
Small but very peaceful place. The water pool in the middle is tranquil, with fish and turtles. During term time and the day it can get busy.
Absolutely gorgeous and peaceful setting. A must visit!
Its interesting, a beautiful spot and its FREE, whats not to like??
Great place to read and meditate
Water runs though the tall palms and elephant ears
Never expected such a place amidst the city. Its such an awesome place that you wouldnt have expected. I felt like walking in a tropical rainforest.Very beautiful and pleasant during the evenings.
For a free venture, the gardens are very nice. The map can be downloaded, but its close to useless as we couldnt find any markers or signs. It is a pleasant walk, among many varities of palm trees, a butterfly garden and a turtle pond. There are many benches and pagodas enabling you to sit and relax and it took us a little more than an hour c plete our self made tour.
Wayyy better than I thought. Only down side is its small but they do a good job keeping the immersion from the City.
Vey calm and relaxing. Great for early morning walks.
Nice quiet tropical garden filled some beautiful plants and flowers. A very nice free garden!
