Good place for a walk run or bike ride. Part of the Erie to Ohio trail. This section of trail is decent. Packed earth and Sandy gravel path mostly. There are a few sections that are really old asphalt which are rough to ride on. Good asphalt pavement starts about 40 mins bike ride north along the trail. There are some quaint little towns you go through. There is a port-a-john here, looks like its taken care of regularly (it can never be often enough). The lot is never too busy so unless theres an event youll have free parking. Decent access to the river, plenty of people fishing when its nice out.
A nice peaceful place to walk or have a lunch
I love to go here and play in the rocks, but today the river is too high.
Nice for walking your dog.
The trailhead is easy to find. This time of the year at early afternoon there is some shade in the parking lot. And the main reason to go here is the Towpath. So, hopefully thats self-explanatory
Not long ago, on a bright Saturday morning I pulled into the parking lot, past a small group of people who were almost standing in the middle of the parking lot. They appeared to be a group of hikers, or swinging seniors? A lady with a clip board was trying to take roll call.I eased passed the group and we smiled at each other. I was dressed in blue Jeans and a tshirt, not hiking gear and so that is prob why they were staring at me while I performed a series of stretching exercises outside my car, out of the way of the parking lot.Other heads of gray and white, not yet retired joined the group, and were all now looking my way.Of course, they all locked there car doors and blew there horns several times as they walked away, towards the towpath trail. I stopped stretching a few minutes later and got back in my car. I was relaxing, taking in the smell of the country air, but it was twinged with a sharp smell of suspicion also.Everyone, it seemed was suspicious of everyone else. The parking lot began to fill up. Another series of horn blast, then a motorcyclist wrapped in ugly red and black leather rolled in.He seemed to be angry, adjusting his gear he removed his helmet and glared at a lady who almost hit him, put his helmet back on and started to speed away. I though about leaving also, adjusted my mirror, and, there they were! The Swank Hills Hiking Group was back behind me, on the towpath as it runs parralel to the lot, separate by about 50 yards of brush, but were writing down my license plate number! Incredible!I laughed out loud. There would be other times to see the quiet milk-brown water of the Tuscaraws. But not today. This was their trail, and I conceded it to them for if I would have stayed and looked around the grounds who knows what they might have done?
Great parking spot
Needs a new grilling area and INFO on the trails other than that nice shaded area
Love the trails!
Well maintained and pleasant trail. Flat and easy for beginners.
It just a parking lot with a trail and some picnic tables it was winter but I love it in the spring
Hiking at the Tow Path along the Tuscarawas River is one of my favorite places. There are plenty of parking areas to access the trail and port a johns at every other parking area
