Excellent hike. Brought a great Dane and a German Shepherd. Difficult at time but still an amazing journey with a beautiful view.

Beautiful hiking trail. When you make it to the top, the views are breathtaking. Be warned though, there is some serious rock-climbing involved. Do not go if it’s been raining, the rocks could be too slippery to climb on when wet. Otherwise, bring you camera, it’s beautiful!

A go-to location to hike through whenever I am in town. Whether you are running or walking your way up the trails to reach Hogback, itll challenge you. Making the view from the top that much more worth it. I will say, once you get closer to the peak, the trail does become hard to trek up. Some of the path has been washed away or worn down from all of the foot traffic it receives. So, you may have to use caution.

Had a great hike up hogsback! Sometimes trails could be marked a little better. We lost the trail but got to the top by climbing next to a little waterfall. Because of this the hike was hard with plenty of climbing. The normal trail is pretty easy but still a decent hike. Bring a compass or GPS and a backpack with simple gear just in case. People have gotten lost and have had to be rescued.

Challenging in parts, definitely worth the effort...

This mountain has some spectacular views at the top! The trail is a little hard to follow, it had a fork that was unmarked, but luckily a local pointed us in the right direction. The hike itself is slow but steady uphill. Take extra water on hot days. The end of the climb supposedly requires four points of contact but it really isnt too bad. You are just walking up a rock face which is rather flat. Some sturdy shoes will get you through just fine. The way back was very quick. In total we probably spent 1.5 hours here, that is with a long rest at the top.

There are 2 main trails that lead to the top of hogback as I know - north and south. I have hiked both and I think south side is generally easier however i would say it is an intermediate level. North side requires more of near vertical climbing, and harder to find way back down. Use alltrail app and you will have some peace of mind hiking this as the trial marking can be improved Once you reach the top, oh my. The view is spectacular especially with the fall color! Need to come to see yourself. As other folks tell, it will be very super slippery when wet so must be very careful. And summer time will have so much bug that i would recommend mosquito net, spray will just do nothing.

Love the hike and the view!! Ive done it twice now, in the summer and winter. I love seeing a trail already marked in knee-deep snow! I will say there isnt a bathroom in the parking lot, just so you know!

Intermediate difficulty. Lots of flat ending in a very steep climb. Great views from the top.

Challenging but totally worth the effort. If your lucky you will catch a wisp.

3 hours up and back at a walking pace. Fantastic view from the top. Pay attention to markers though because you can get lost by walking in old trails.

A longer, more difficult hike, but the best view in Marquette.

Its quite the hike, but worth the gorgeous view.

Great hike. Lots of challenging terrain. Only real complaint is that there are a lot more trails that have been added but the markings arent as clear. Tons of blazes but somewhat confusing after doing this route for years. The view at the top is unmatched and if youre daring, you can mountain bike up and down. All said, its a fantastic place.

Allot of fun and was like an hour ish hike but remember to bring water and some emergency food just to be safe

It was a good climb

One of the best hikes Ive been on. Extremly difficult rugged terrain and a maze of paths going through wooded groves, exposed rock, streams, marshes, and at the end a mountain top with a great view of lake superior and marquette. Be very careful navigating later in the day, we got lost in the dark on our way back to the car. 5/5 stars even after getting lost there

Get to the summit, its so worth the hike. View is stunning
