This theater is fantastic. It is small so every single seat is a good one. Everyone working there makes you feel like you are welcome. The alley by the box office is breathtaking for photos. The lobby area is comfortable with great decor and memories of past shows. Bathrooms always clean. GO!You will LOVE it!
I spent 15hrs at this theatre working with film festival due to them booking me. However I was there under no contract for pay, every now and then I voluntarily support projects and boost them on my platform. In these unprecedented times more importantly I have been more than open to doing free work under black owned businesses in hopes to put them on the map with my influence . Everyone there including myself paid their own gas to get there, worked through hunger or had to go and buy their own food because none was provided and most didn’t even know there was water there. Also being that this was a film we worked in full heat with no ac or rooms with separate ac. We were scheduled for a two hour break which was cut down to an hour . I explained how that wasn’t enough time to eat and for me to go home and check on my dog who had now been alone at home from 9am until 6pm. I let them know I would have to leave to walk him and take care of him and I would be back . It was then suggested to me by staff to bring my dog to the property . As skeptical as I was, I was also thrilled . I brought my dog to the theatre and began rehearsal . In a matter of an hour I heard my dog barking . My dog does not bark . He is 8 years old with no record of aggression. He has been with me since I was 18 . A huge part of my life, so I’m sure you can imagine the overwhelming feeling I had hearing that. When I arrived outside I was presented with information that disturbed me very much. I was told by other actors they were accused of smoking weed in a place that is supposed to be a safe haven to express your art . I was also told my dog was called out his name (BIT**)and demanded to be tied to a pole. Never in my life have I experienced this level of unprofessionalism in a business. I was deeply hurt by these actions. the fact that the owners sonntold me to my face he doesn’t care if anyone was disrespected and that I couldn’t speak to the owner that allegedly said these things I was appalled. I let him know I didn’t feel like my dog is safe there if the person owning the place doesn’t want him there . No matter what was said I was never given an opportunity to ask if I needed to remove my dog. I need to know things like this so legal action cannot be used against me if someone truly has an issue. He let me know since I didn’t feel safe I could leave. A complete twist of my words. This treatment is inhuman and disrespectful to the people that come to work on a project . Especially free, I just charged 10k in 3 days with a similar type of company and less hours total. So I would think my time would be super meaningful and appreciated there considering all payment was waved due to the support I felt in my spirit to show. Unfortunately it wasn’t and I was treated very bad and my pet was mistreated. 70k people watched my live broadcast that day and I got so many messages on how disgusting it is . Please do not work here or count on being appreciated.
Took my wife to see Moonlight and Magnolias. The theater is warm and intimate. The actors were exceptional. We are considering getting season tickets. Extremely accessible to a variety of local restaurants. Great overall experience.
We saw several shows here and leave impressed and ready to return. Top-notch performances, (even to a critics eye) excellent directing, casting, singing, lighting and sound. Great seating!
This was a really great experience. I saw an amazing performance of The Heights. It was a very professional, lively show that was exciting to watch. The proprietor of the venue was there and welcomed the audience in a very authentic way. All in all it was a really wonderful evening and I would highly encourage anyone to check this out.
The theater is so intimate, friendly and relaxed. The play was marvelously acted and fun! We had such a great experience that these first timers are looking into season tickets.
Have seen several performances at the New Theatre in the Square and was very entertaining. Great seating and acting. I highly recommend. First class entertainment.
Excellent place to go see shows. They house shows with kids and the kids are professional. The theatre may be small but the shows are BIG and perfect for the square. Love what they are doing!
A very cozy and comfortable, yet spacious venue. The play, Othello was thoroughly entertaining. The actors and actresses were excellently cast and their performances were second to none. My wife, myself and my grandchildren were completely overwhelmed by everyone involved and they even got autographs from the actors. We will definitely be going back!!!
Its a great place to come on the weekends if you just want to watch it fun play or a comedy show. Actors are pretty talented.
DO NOT PIRCHASE TICKETS FROM HERE. I purchased tockets to see a show and it was cancelled due to corona and not only will they NOT GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK. These people just places me in a show that is a year In some month away. When asking for a refund I was told sorry thats it and have to now file a fraud claims just to GET MY MONEY BACK.
A gem just off the square and many restaurants in Marietta. Great live theater and caring knowledgeable management. Highly recommended for live theater in an intimate space .
Wow, such a fantastic show. The passion that the owners have for the arts was truly evident in all the love they pour into the production. Run to the next performance, you will not be disappointed.
Saw In the Heights. Beautifully done show with fantastic acting and a truly welcoming space. Concessions was even turned into a bodega! Loved every second before, during, and after the show.
Very nice public theater. Extremely intimate and accommodating. There is a Bodaga that services Latin treats that is a nice touch. The performance In The Heights was well casted and the performance was high quality. This will be my go to theater in the future.
Funny, witty, excellent portrayals of the characters, in Sunday matinee play, Moonlight and Magnolias. Especially impressed by our hometown GWTW Director, Connie Sutherland.
Excellent presentation of In the Heights.Great ambiance, great performance. Best whishes to the cast and theater management. The only thing they can improve a little bit is the microphone system.
What a terrific place! What an incredible production we saw of The Cotton Club the other day! And its a great venue, small, intimate, up close and personal! If you havent been here, youre missing out, be sure to check it out soon!
Wonderful experience!!! We saw In The Heights and we were exhilarated! The young cast was amazing!!! The atmosphere was celebratory and the Latin influenced food offerings were wonderful. We loved it!
Always great productions in the heart of Marietta square. Wish they had dinner theatre packages with local establishments
Wonderful talented cast! Every show has been great. Looking forward to the 2020 season!
Its a nice theater thats close to many restaurants. Ive been there three times and the shows have been good. My only complaint is that each time Ive been there theyve had audio problems which distracted from the show. Its difficult to find free parking near the theater, but there are pay lots and garages.
Just saw the monologue Hecho en Puelto Rico and it was amazing. It was refreshing, educational, funny and even made some weep with pride. Please support this theater. This was the last of the Hispanic month production, but all their productions are great. Affordable tickets for plays and musicals.
An awesome experience. A great theatre for close up production. You can feel the emotions of the actors and actresses.
Excellent in every way! Show, owner and staff....all amazing.
Wow, my friend and I had a wonderful time experiencing cotton club, the play. Wonderful!! Small theatre, pleasant, well done. Loved the play, really appreciate what they are doing at that theatre.
Great plays in an intimate setting w easy parking, plenty of reasonable restaurants nearby and oh, the Tix are always very reasonable. Luv it!
This theater is amazing so many fun things to do I love it !!
Cozy theater right off the Square. Ir the Square is busy, parking is difficult but municipal garages are not too far away. Acting has Bern God at the plays weve seen.
Enjoyed Raisin in the Sun... Nice intimate theater... The actors were very good and the food for sale was a nice added plus.. Looking forward to the next play...
Saw some delightful acting, singing, and dancing in The Cotton Club at this playhouse. The enthusiasm by the staff and management was heart lifting. The play itself was some of the best entertainment I have seen in a long time--All expertly and genuinely done. Congrats to everyone in The Cotton Club. I enjoyed it immensely!
Small space but in the best way; saw Clybourne Park which is a heavy show that the space made very intimate and in your face; support this local theatre. You wont regret it.
Enjoyed my quick walkthru and tour and my empanadas treat.will go back soon.
The Theater on the Square has not disappointed. In the last two months Ive seen two fantastic stage plays: The Meeting and In the Red and Brown Water. Both were wonderfully presented and thought provoking. Im looking forward to the next production and will definitely get my tickets for the rest of the trilogy! Keep up the awesome work!
Loved it the stage actors were awesome.
We saw the play, Fences, at the theater on 5-25-18. The staff was warm and inviting. The theater itself was the right size to truly feel the engery of the actors - there isnt a bad seat in the house. The play itself was excellent. I saw the play on Broadway many years ago with James Earl Jones in the lead role. There was no disappointment in the delivery of this story from our own local actors. Thank you for providing quality entertainment here in Marietta!
Good show. Huge company. Bonus warm up set with fun young thesbians. Six show season passes available. Lots of great eateries on the square for dinner or after show libations. Well done...A Christmas Carole.
The New Theater on the Square is on the the best kept secrets in Marietta. My husband and I just attended one of their productions and it was awesome! The cast & staff are incredibly talented and they roll out the red carpet to make you feel at home! I would highly recommend that you take the time to spend an evening at the Theater! Perfect date night or girls night out! We will be back! Thank you for an awesome experience!
What a great community theater! I enjoyed the performance and there are lots of parking options around the square.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time there! And, The Cotton Club was by far one of the best performances I have ever attended!! (And, I have attended many.)
My husband and I visited the theatre 11/26 to view the The Gift of the Magi 2.0. The presentation was excellent! Job well done by the entire cast. Great job Emil Thomas! Keep up the good work! The atmosphere was comfy and no bad seats in the theatre.
Awesome! What a great experience. Ill be back to see another one.
Everything that I have attended at the Marietta new theater has been excellent and we love attending The plays there the owner and staff are the best and very friendly
I love the theater! It’s quaint and all of the seats are good. The actors are fantastic! My favorite play so far was Fences! I saw Fences on Broadway in New York when Lawrence Fishburne was the star and was pleasantly impressed by the performance at Theater in the Square! The show was just as good as the Broadway show! The Theater is set in a lovely location with the nice garden area outside. The inside lobby area is very nice and then the play area is nice and small and old school! It reminds me of sitting watching a school play. Raul and Emil are very nice. I’ve met them both! Keep up the good work! I’m so proud of you guys. Your theater is in a prime location and the plays are showcasing talent of people of color! This is our Theater!!!!
We. Seen 4 old Broads and it was the best play! And the people who were running the Theater were amazing people! They were so nice. I will go back soon to view another play!
The Cotton Club Review was two hours of history, culture, and artistry presented by professional performers in an intimate, engaging venue. A true GEM for the city of Mariettas square. In anticipation of picking our next show.
Went to see a play called The eve of Jackie its a live replay of the last performance of the late great Jackie Wilson. The gentleman that plays Jackie has a voice thats out of this world. He did a great job. The show was amazing! If you get a chance while its still here go check the show out.
This theater is hosting multiple events every month. They have music, comedy, drama, plays and Musical Theater, and many other events. There is always something for everyone. The space is very comfortable and classic
Great Local Company ;Does fabulous productions!

I saw the opening night of the Chistmas Carol. It was great. Its a small intamate theater with no bad seats so no need to pay more for a seat up front. Great place to support local theater.
The most intimate Main Stage in the Metro Atlanta Area! Perfect for that special night out, surrounded by all the fine eateries of Mariettas Square! Newly renovated, with a staff that aim to please! Then lets talk about the Artistic Director, Mr. Emil Thomas!!! Soon the world will know his name...
Outstanding Performance! Just saw The Glass Menagerie Sunday matinee. 1st class performance & very nice theatre. This is the 1st show Ive seen with the new owners/management & they were very accommodating. I definitely plan to attend future shows!
This place is awesome! I met the General Manager, the Director of all the shows (Emil himself) the backstage helpers, the box office workers, they were all so friendly and very funny! I most definitely will return. The theatre is so freaking beautiful! This place is worth investing in. Go see the shows, I highly recommend it!!!

Marietta New Theatre in the square is a breath of fresh air. There is nothing more satisfying than seeing our youth giving back to the community and this is exactly what these young people do with every play and event that they open up to the public. I traveled with my family from Orlando to see the play La Gringa and I was left with the satisfaction of knowing that my drive was not for nothing. The play hit home for me and I have heard great things from all the other plays. I just wish I lived closer to see all the plays.
Everything and everyone was wonderful.
Love this theater house! Great plays!
Relatively small venue provides comfortable seating and good visibility and audio quality. Very pleased with the quality of the performance.
Small venue and the show was great.
Small, intimate venue. Excellent customer service! Great show
Close up and personal intimate seating excellent sound good location!
Great local theatre to watch performances. The box office was insanely slow to process ticket sales and will call for the show we went to see. And the seating/ticket numbers were confusing, lots of people were sitting in the wrong seats and we had to sit somewhere different than where wed paid for.
The theater is a small and intimate venue which makes you feel like a participant in the play. The plays that Ive attended have been very enjoyable and the cast personable.
This venue is the new hidden treasure of Atlanta. I enjoyed watching La Gringa production with my co- workers this past Thursday, the adaptation was spot on and we could relate very well to the contents. It was both entertaining and thought provoking. Great job Emil and the crew!
Awesome place. The director Emil is a wonderful person that interacts with everyone. Very inviting atmosphere and the shows are stupendous. The show that is on now La Gringa is a must see! Thank you Emil and staff for such a great experience.
