My family took advantage of the free admission (as part of the Second Sunday program) and went to the William Root house. There’s a lot to see even though the ground and houses are not very large. If you are into Marietta or Civil War era history, then this is a great little place to visit. The museum has recently been updated with a lot of nice improvements. They have touch screens in most of the exhibits and a few small things for little kids to enjoy. Their gift shop was also very cute. I would definitely recommend a visit!FYI:-They do have a ramp and an outside elevator to get into the main levels of the buildings, but I did not see anything to help those with wheelchairs or strollers get to the second stories of these historic buildings.-there is a parking lot, but it is rather small
This house was really neat! It is set up well and has lots of interesting information on historic Marietta. We will be returning soon!
Our tour guide was amazing. She was soooo knowledgeable and fun to listen to. Cannot wait to go back and see the other building and gift shop in a few weeks!!! 5 stars!
Very nice information, great helpers, interactive displays. Great for all ages.
Passionate volunteers tell the history in this newly renovated piece of Marietta history. Really enjoyed the tour.
Hello travelers.. If you love history like myself and my family when you are in ATL check out William Root House Museum. Most times when we visit antebellum homes its as always a plantation. This time it was an urban home that only had 2-4 slaves. The setting was 1850 and because its October the house was staged for mourning. I learned so much about death during the 1850 and some of the traditions that we have gotten away from.
Great experience, highly recommend. Well worth coming to see.
Fascinating historic home - one of the few that provide a middle class perspective. Excellent staff provided a very interesting and informative tour with lots of time for questions. Both we and our 11 year old kids really enjoyed it.
Great peak at the early life a Cobb county resident. Worth the trip for sure.
Isaac did a great job showing us around.
Always a wonderful visit. Local history comes alive! Dont miss out!!
My husband and I really enjoyed our Root House tour. The guides were very knowledgeable and willing to answers questions. Even questions that may be uncomfortable to answer. They do a lovely job. Do yourself a favor and check it out.
It is a beautiful museum highlighting the life of a middle class family in Marietta during the mid 1800s around the Civil War!
Guide had a lot of knowledge of the home and the family who owned it.
Glad to see a little piece of history saved.
