Never knew it was a fishing spot.. by the name I thought it was a golf course.. kinda busy from the bank, but a great place to float tube... wish more people would throw the nice ones back though...
Beautiful gem hidden along the San Joaquin River accessible from the Madera County side. Fishing, kayaking, picnicing, walking and bird watching may be enjoyed. Friendly Staff. Please check into the Bait Shop to buy you daily pass: Per car load $9, Veterans $6. Typically Open Friday to Sunday.
First time heading to this spot tomorrow..anyone know a good spot for me Nd my kid to fish at..
Parasites in most ponds, you can find them in the soil around where the water meets dryland... so be careful if you take any children fishing. I didnt believe it till I went and seen them myself.
Great place to go fishing and u can catch just about anything here. I do feel $9 a day is a bit much but great employees n they carry live bait n water!!!
Always an amazing staff that helps you find what to fish for, and the ponds are always full of fish! Great place for family and very peaceful!
Very peaceful and picturesque surroundings.Anglers :Bass were biting on nightcrawlers on a rubber worm rig. Stick to the shaded areas in the morning. Watch out for the shallow areas and high pond vegetation, it’s best to use a kayak or light boat.Boaters:If you have a boat trailer and only a two wheel drive vehicle there’s a good chance you’ll get stuck in what seems to be a very steep boat ramp made of soft sand.
Will return to canoe.
Great day, great people... Thanks
Interesting place, at first glance I wasnt impressed with the place, but after exploring the area, I feel it has some good things to offer. It has a lot of potential. Im just one of those people that is torn about a well taken care off open area to enjoy and free public access to nature areas near the concrete jungle. I think wider access is better for community as a whole. On the other hand, if you look at places like pine flat damn, those free areas are littered with trash, mostly unfortunately from fishermen. Despite the trash here its far cleaner than other spots Ive seen around. Perhaps a free weekend once a month would do the place and community some good.
Great fishing if you can hook one. No mermaids
This is a great place to go fishing. My one complaint is they charge $10. It is my belief that the San Joaquin Parkway Trust should be dedicated to offering free access to the river in the Fresno area.Fresno itself has a bad habit of charging people to use open space. Unfortunately this practice has crossed the river and this supposed non-profit charges for river access on dirt roads. It seems like they could raise money through other means.
Nice little spot close by for trophy size fish.
Relaxing peace of mind amazing tranquility
Love the spot. I just wish people would pick up after there selfs. I grew up going there now i get to take my kids.
Definitely not what it used to be. Quality fish were plenty in years past; and finding 3 to 5 lb keepers were very easy to look for. There are still some good fish in there these days if you travel (canoe or yak) up or down the river arm... but much fewer and far between as area as a whole is just getting fished out. Bank fishing for quality fish is not even worth it. There is no one regulating those who dont practice catch and release. I often see people stringing up fish (bass) well under 10 inches and well under a pound. So growth and developement of bass is severely compromised. This will be my last year I pay for an annual pass.
Took my grandkids there to fish. They need more access to the water, theres very few places to fish from.
Great place to take your young boys. Many great bank fishing spots.
Not what it used to be for fishing. Bass and blue gills fished out. Entry road not well maintained. Lots of holes in entry road ways. You can see lots of wild life here. We once saw a mountain lion near the road leading to the catfish pond.
Some work done on the entry road. Other roads remain rough. Boat ramps are made of deep sand and not well maintained. Fishing can be good but is tough from the shore.
No bass, trout nor strippers found anywhere, the girl at the counter didnt even know what are the rules of the park
My favorite place to spend my weekends fishing.
Great place but closes to early and is open on weekends only I work weekends so I can never go there I wish they were open more often and later!
Too many people need more bathrooms
Nice if you brought a kiack, they close really early
People keeping bass ruined this place!
Came for family fishing, not too many bites but lots of little spots to park and fish!
This place sucks, no fish what so ever!!!!
