In a good way, it wasnt what I was expecting. If you havent had exposure to the struggles or contributions of African Americans in Georgia, specifically Macon, this is the place to go. Displays are a minute reflection of the larger experiences Black Americans have had to endure. Their stories are portrayed through talented individuals and brave representatives who strove for equality. Exhibits also showcase current artist who skills are unbelievably good. Although larger cities house nationally recognizable collections you cant forget the local people who works quietly fight for equality. Admission discounts apply. COVID-19 protocols are enforced. Staff members are super friendly.

Our company decided to visit the Tubman as a group so we could social distance and still do something together, it was great. I had never been but I was impressed, very informative and I will be back with my family. My one negative was the introduction that was done by one of the employees, not very informative. Stop and read, great pieces of information about history.

So much information preserved and spectacularly presented. Everyone will learn something. I will be processing information for months. The staff are knowledgeable, professional and courteous. Allow yourself at least three hours!

Excellent, beautiful museum. The Tubman museum is a true gem. It includes fabric art, sculptures, and more about the Black experience in the USA before the civil war up through the present. A special wing focusing on Harriet Tubman. Another room regarding famous musicians who are African American - Otis Redding, Little Richard (including a piano he played on), and so much more. Definitely worth visiting.

Awesome fun place we looked at all of the art and there was a detailed sign telling the story of each piece of art. Would definitely come again.

Good portray of African American history ! With the name of the museum, I was hoping more about Tubman but is not the case.

We loved this museum. It was great. And it has a beautiful gift shop inside. And it is across the street from The Georgia Sports Hall of Fame.

I really enjoyed my first visit and was able to sign up for senior discounts.The ladies really are very knowledgeable of the history of our heroes which is a story often obscured from people.The buildings architecture is beautiful. The natural light from the roof top brightens up the whole building.I could spend hours engulfed in the deep history surrounding Macon.The novelty shop has lovely work displayed of local talent. There us something for everybody.A beautiful building like this should be packed everyday.

Great learning experience and wonderful museum pieces on display

The Tubman Museum is an excellent place for a family outing and an excellent source for Cultural Events and History. Ill definitely be getting a Family membership beginning in 2019. My son Loved the experience and so did I!

I visit the Tubman at least once a month! I love the staff. Ms. Patricia who works in the gift shop is so very nice and convinced me to become a member! They have great items, the museum has wonderful information about our history, and they sell handmade soaps that will make you feel amazing!!

The museum was beautiful. It was actually my first time there. I was the bartender for a birthday party held there.

History written on quilts was very fascinating. Downstairs history room was also intriguing. The gift shop was nice, although a bit pricey.

This is an outstanding museum...beautifully designed and laid out. The exhibits include much more than artifacts relating to Harriet Tubman (which is extensive and commanding. She is the reason we came to visit). The staff are friendly, helpful, and very knowledgeable.Please take your time and slowly walk the circular path through the historical displays and contemporary artworks. Laugh at the warning on Little Richards piano, and do join the museums membership roll.The gift shop is a destination unto itself! Look at those quilts! Sigh... Everything in that little shop is exquisite!

This museum carries the Tubman name as homage to a great woman. The museum is actually artwork and African American/Black history to include Macon, Ga history. This is very well done!

A well done museum. I recommend it to anyone interested in the history of the United States. The museum’s focus is black history which all Americans need to work to gain an accurate understanding of this marginalized group of Americans citizens.

Our Docent, Kathy, was outstanding in giving our small group the history of each exhibit room. The museum is beautiful and we enjoyed the day there.

What a beautiful tribute to this amazing lady. We were here to shoot a docudrama along with the Bricklers. The Bricklers are direct descendants of Harriet Tubman. The Tubman Museum is well worth a visit. I was lucky enough to meet the Founder the day I visited. the place is absolutely spotless. The exhibit on the first floor was incredibly moving and put a lot of things in perspective for me. The Harriet Tubman and Otis Redding exhibits upstairs were well done and informative. You only need about one hour to see the museum and really appreciate the exhibits. So happy I made the time.

This place is awesome and very much an eye-opening experience. Im very glad we were able to see it.

Im in love with the Mr. Imagine collection. This museum has an open, modern feel, and you can truly appreciate each piece of art. Exhibition space is nicely arranged, also easy to see & read. A must-see for out-of-towners AND local peeps. And yes, its the Tubman museum, but its a great stop for people of all races--you will not be disappointed. FYI, free parking on either side of the museum.

With a museum this large, there is so much to discover and learn. I love how it is a history and art museum. The changing exhibits are always interesting. Location is downtown, near other tourist spots. This museum is a hidden gem. Bring your kids on second Saturdays for family events!

Ive lived in this area most of my life, but I learned so much more about the people I have known who are featured in this museum. Its a wonderful place to share with family, friends, and coworkers. You may even find stories of your ancestors here.

An amazing experience, I was afraid it would be quite small but I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of exhibits. They also had a sections dedicated to Otis Redding and major African American inventors/patents. Overall a great experience for young and old!

Informative place nice history learned a few things

Great info and service. The only negative for me was that it was a self-guided tour and I would have loved to have a tour guide to get the extra info instead of reading everything. You need at least two hours to read all the info on both floors, but over all it is a great experience.

An American history museum named in honor of Harriet Tubman. While an alcove is dedicated to Harriet Tubman, the body of the museum features the contributions and sacrifices of people of color from the Macon area.I thoroughly enjoyed experiencing this museum, and I left feeling inspired.

I enjoyed my visit to the museum because of the friendly as well as helpful service. The artwork was fabulous and the collection pieces from various people in history was great. My nieces were able to get a glimpse of history up close and personal.

Very informative and well kept. Museum tour was guided, so that you understood the collection of artifacts. Took some high school kids and they enjoyed it as well. Able to ask questions which enhanced the experience.

My 5 year old daughter and I visited this museum while I was in Macon for business. I was afraid that the museum wouldnt be too exciting for her and that she would quickly lose interest. I took her anyway because I thought it would be a good way to introduce her to some historical figures and African American culture.The museum was not a disappointment! We both had a great time. In fact I believe she enjoyed the exhibition more than I did. Also to be noted was how polite, helpful, and informative the staff members were.I would definitely recommend the museum. Its inexpensive and AAA members receive admission at a discounted rate.
