This National Park is an interesting look back in time. The ceremonial earth mound is amazing to think it was created a basket of soil at a time. There are 8 miles worth of trails so this is an excellent destination for a long walk while learning some history. An audio tour is available on your phone.
A childhood favorite that I took my kids to and someday my grandkids.
Beautiful park with tons of history. During the pandemic, you cant get your stamp but we were happy to climb the mounds and do the trails. Only open 1-5 each day.
Great place filled with a mistical aura...
I think I must have missed the entrance to the chamber because I couldnt find it. It would have been nice. The history is fascinating. This must be a date spot because there were quite a few couples hanging out in top of the biggest mound.
Super cool! Thousands of years old.
We love the Ocmulgee National Monument and Muscogee/Creek Indian Mounds! The museum is very informative, incl short film history, & the park staff are wonderful people! Hike the trails, crouch down to enter the Temple Mound incl a recorded history of its use, and climb the 65+ stairs to the top of the largest mound which overlooks the Ocmulgee River and you can see the buildings of downtown Macon, GA.
Nice place to go for a walk but with a buddy. Sometimes there are creepers and Im not talking about bugs.
Very pretty. Love to hike here. The trails are clean and well landscaped. Just watch for snakes and other wildlife!!
Just drove through and read from the historical markers.
Great trails, well maintained
I thought the video presentations was good. I walked away with a better appreciation of the native American of the Mississippi River Valley and like other great cultures found in the middle East and Asia they have time of great influence and decline. The visitor center was good. Go early so you can walk the park. Closes at 5 pm sharp.
A great historical site to visit with the family. The visitors center has a small but informative museum including a video presentation on the natives who lived in the area and built the mounds. There are easy walking trails in the area, and visitors can even go inside the earth lodge and on top of some of the mounds, including the impressive Temple Mound.
I use to go here as a kid. Now I got to bring my kids to experience it. Had a great time. Would have put a 5 star but the information button inside the mound was broke and I couldn’t show my kids the full experience I had. I hope they fix it soon so others can hear it.
Its a nice place to see with some artifacts and a movie in the museum. Was happy there were roads & parking near the main areas.
Interesting history.
The gentleman at the visitor center was VERY enthusiastic and informative! Wish we had longer to stay and look at ALL the exhibits. Such a special and beautiful place.. Cannot wait to take our grandkids back and hopefully real soon!
Cool history, great for walks with the family.
Very nice..
Awesome to visit if you love history, quiet and beautiful area.
Pretty cool place. Nice spot to stretch the legs and get some history at the same time.
Very informative, learned a lot of history. Very nice film and museum.
Nice place to enjoy nature, clean and safe space.
Awesome piece of history and park. Well worth a visit!
Nice mix of nature history and archaeology. Good trails both paved and natural. Extensive visitors center.
Awesome. Will never forget. Make sure to duck down or you bump your head.
Best idea we have ever had to visit this park. If you love Indian history this is a must place to visit .
Great place, lot of interesting information, very friendly and helpful Rangers. Bit of a walk, worth it.
I was one with nature dressed as my past life being named Waatoochewa from 950 BC. Times were harder then without internet or StarBucks but I can meditate in the earthen lodge and commune with my ancestors. Sure wearing only a loin cloth does have its disadvantages in public but keeps me cool and wearing crocs as well helps me blend in with todays society. Great place to visit, see you soon.
Great history. Lots of trails.
Excellent moment, friendly staff. Terrific place for a hike.
Fascinating! 10000 years of history!
Been going here since I was in kindergarten, always a great experience!
