UPDATE: Spoke to owner (he was great and reached out to me) Went back and tried a different room....the baseball one and we had a completely different experience. The kids were each able to figure out a couple of the lock boxes, the puzzles were easier for kids, there was MORE for them to do in the room and each contribute to the game. We didnt find our way out or solve the full puzzle but we came closer. Maybe 20 puzzles and we probably figured 15 of them, but IDK we were having too much fun this time to count.Lost Professor: I called and asked if this was appropriate for 1 adult with, 13, 12 and 9 year old. I was assured that it would be a challenge but would be great fun. We picked the easiest room based on success rate/web page description. But at the end of an hour we were only able to open a couple boxes. Keeping everyone interested was difficult as this room was too tough for children. We spent at least 30 minutes trying to put together a puzzle in near darkness. Clue on cards was so hard to read....looked like numbers were backwards and upside down and very worn out. My first impression was not ideal for kids. (my kids are average intelligence for their ages)I got some inspiration for recreating at home and on a kid level for next Birthday party. But ours will be more like youtube channel *tic tock toy.***Due to COVID had to make reservation to enter the building.Thank you GERALD and the team there. Everyone was helpful, happy to help and very polite. Original response was based on difficulty for our particular needs not on anything that one person did.
We took our youth group and they had a blast. The associates were very friendly and helpful. Strongly recommend these Escape Rooms.
Would definitely recommend One Way Out Lynchburg. We did the Experiment. This was our first Escape adventure. Staff was excellent and the room was challenging! Would absolutely go back!
This was great! Clean, fun, and multiple levels of difficulties. We will be back to try them all!
Was our first experience for an escape room and it was great fun... we will be back!.. and maybe even escape next time!
Great time. Friendly. Escape themes are fun and challenging.
So much fun! We did the Lost Professor. Very creative and intriguing. Highly recommend this place.
We celebrated my sisters 30th birthday here and the staff was very friendly and helpful!
Courteous employees and great escape rooms. I hope they add more in the future!
So much fun! I plan to go back again.
I cant say enough good things about this place. I have been to many other escape rooms and they do it BEST. Its some of the most fun you can have in an hour! If you are looking for something to do with your friends this beats most outings.
Took our 15 year old granddaughter here to celebrate her birthday. She picked the room and chose the friend to bring along with us (her grandparents). She chose Paravail’s 3 keys . We all enjoyed it immensely! Thought provoking and engaging at all times! This was a wonderful adventure.
So much fun! I reserved a room for our family and we had the best time solving The Lost Professor room! There were lots of puzzles and we worked together to figure out what we needed to do.
Hand-dipped and softserve ice cream; mixers available; good milkshakes
Lots of fun with friends and family figuring out how to escape
Well thought out puzzles, fun for the family, reasonable prices, friendly staff. Would definitely go here again!
My husband and I have done several escape rooms here with friends and family, and weve loved ALL of them!! Its so fun to have a challenge and to practice your teamwork skills. I like that the rooms and difficult to win so it actually feels like a challenge. It also makes it so you really need to lean on everyones different ideas and ways of thinking to be able to win. The staff is always super nice and friendly, too.
This was our second time at One Way Out and both times have been simply incredible! We have done several escape rooms in multiple states and so far have not found one that quite measures up to One Way Out. The rooms themselves are fantastic and the way that the puzzles are set up is just top-notch. Whether you are a beginner or an expert I would highly recommend this place! We cant wait for our next visit!
Great fun for a group. Will definitely be back.
Careful--these rooms are addictive. Whenever I finish one room I just want to do another. If you like solving puzzles, riddles, and stretching your brain to think outside the box (although sometimes you can overthink when the answer is staring you in the face) then this place is for you. Im always amazed by the creativity of the room creators and the props/puzzles are professionally-done. The staff is friendly and you can tell they love what they do.
Expensive but really fun. We did the scientist one. It was challenging but we did it!
Ive now been to OneWayOut 3 times, every single time has been fantastic. In addition to the great escape rooms, I dont know if Ive ever spoken to a more accommodating local business. Great atmosphere, great staff, great experience all around.
We had a lot of fun as a middle school field trip. We did the Lost Professor room and we escaped with 10 minutes to spare. Our game hosts were very polite and helpful and the room was well-designed with fun, challenging puzzles and more than a couple surprises! Will definitely come back with a group of adults.
One Way Out has fun, creative puzzles that are simple to understand, but challenging to master. The staff are extremely helpful and courteous and the rooms are very well designed with plenty of variety.
So fun. Clever rooms. Great group bonding exercise. Love it.
What an awesome experience, thank you guys! So fun. We did the railway robbery - thanks to the new guy who helped us out!
Always a fun place to go with family and friends.
Lots of fun. Great time.
We had the chance to complete the Lost Professor. While the puzzles were challenging, the room was way too small. We had ten people in our group. We barely fit in the room. I think the max for this room should’ve been six. We had a decent time but it would’ve been much more enjoyable if we hadn’t been so crowded. We might visit again in the future.
My son went to a birthday party here and, while they didnt escape, they had a blast!
This place was great! The staff was really friendly, the room looked incredible, and the puzzles were a welcome challenge. My wife and I did the Baker Street room and had a blast. The decoration and layout built a deep sense of immersion while the puzzles did a surprisingly good job at tying into the character and lore. Cant wait for our next trip back and their next room to be unveiled.
My wife and I have done two escape rooms here (Lost Professor and Experiment). We would give both rooms an A+. The rooms are highly detailed and the puzzles are fun and challenging. Staff is super friendly. We cannot wait to go back and try the two hardest rooms.
Amazing! Nice staff and rooms were not obvious or too hard
Lots of fun. Top quality puzzles
What a fun experience. Cant wait to go back and try another room.
Our office staff did this together and had a great experience! The employee was very helpful and gave us a good orientation and the room we solved (The Lost Professor) was very detailed and had interesting and different puzzles. We had to work together but managed to get out with 14 minutes to spare. Would love to go back and do some of their other rooms!
We did the Easy level room and enjoyed it so much that we turned right around and completed the Hard level room. Both rooms were decorated really nicely and had some super cool clues to figure out. The staff was friendly and we cant wait to go back!
Weve been to several breakout rooms. This one wasnt great. Some of the clues were quite a stretch and not well-thought out.
Had such a great time having my birthday party there!! And amazing staff very friendly.
Fun and challenging. Loved the Archeology theme.
I had a great time! Definitely one of the best escape rooms Ive ever done!
Had a fun time but wasnt able to escape because the locks were placed on the wrong spots. One that was placed on a box locked its own combo in that box. We were then told we could have still escaped when we would have never been able to get into that box to get the combo to the door....*Update-. Spoke with the owner and he is a very nice guy! I wasnt expecting a response but he took time out of his day to listen to my story and actually cared! As stated before we had a fun time and will go back again! Thanks Gerald!
This place deserves 10 stars. So much fun! What a challenge!!
My 11 year old wanted to have her birthday party here. We invited 8 friends and they absolutely had a blast! The staff has great and the party room upstairs was perfect! I would definitely recommend One Way Out! My daughter said it was the “best party EV-ER!”
Amazing Staff. Amazing Rooms. I would definitely recommend One Way Out to ANYONE!!!
One Way Out continues to impress me with its puzzle variety and clever room design. My wife and I did Trapped in the Eighties (one of their first rooms) and The Lost Professor (their newest room at the time of this writing), and we enjoyed both of them. This bedroom in the 1980s had several clever puzzles that were simple in execution but were hidden well enough so that when we finally figured it out, we were genuinely amazed. Searching the ruins for the lost professor was also fun, with excellent set design and puzzles that fit the theme but were challenging and fun to figure out. Their customer service is excellent, providing help when you need it but never being obtrusive. Their goal is that their visitors have fun, and they succeeded with us this weekend!
The first experience we had wasnt the best. The person that contacted me thinks the room may have been reset incorrectly because the orders of the puzzles didnt make sense. They gave us a second shot to try another room and it was much better and we had a ton of fun doing it. The theme and decoration of the room was great. The puzzles were interesting and it was a lot clearer how we were supposed to follow them without being obvious or too easy.
Had fun with the group. Great for kids also its not scary and staff were nice. Made it out with 10 min to spare!
I love this place! I have done shuttered room and trapped in the 80s. And you bet that I will be back and do the other rooms. Trapped in the 80s was a really great room with a lot of cool puzzles to solve. This room had some of the coolest components that I have seen in an escape room. The Shuttered room also had some really interesting things to solve. If I had to choose between the 2 I would probably say trapped in the 80s but you cant go wrong with either of them, they both were amazing. I couldnt recommend this place more, I think this is such a great time for team-building, good times with friends, or date night. Cant wait to try the lost professor and escape detention
Been here a couple times and had a blast! The rooms are really creative and they make it fun.
The staff are professional and friendly. Since they opened Ive been to most of their rooms and while Ive rarely been disappointed, they have improved. The rooms have become more detailed and thoughtfully put together. We did The Shuttered Room. That room is best avoided. The decoration is meh and the puzzles dont fit the theme. Viking runes are completely out of place and felt thrown in. However, The Lost Professor is a must experience! Thematically all the puzzles make sense and I felt it was put together with care. There were a few times I lost myself in the excitement of it all.Two areas for improvement would be if they kept your waver on record so you didnt have to sign every visit. Also, it would be really cool if they kept record times and success rates for each room on display.
Booked a full room for a group, most of which had never done an escape room before. The staff was very friendly, helpful, and patient with people that are inexperienced with escape rooms. For the large number of first timers, we chose the easiest room (going by the success rate) and everyone enjoyed it. We had a group of 9 people; 3 middle age adults, 2 late teens, and 4 mid-teens. The room is not very large, so it was a little warm and cramped with this size group. The puzzles and decor were very well thought out with enough obscurity to keep challenging. There was a good mix of lock types; combination, keys, and puzzles. We really liked it and will probably be back for more.
A BLAST!!! We booked the room with the highest escape rate, 55%, took my family, and we couldnt escape! But we had a blast!!! And everyone is ready to go back and conquer! as long as we do that room, and already know some of the clues! MAYBE we could make it out!!! Lol
Super creative puzzles. Fun, engaging staff. I brought 15 guys with me, most of whom had never tried an escape room. We all left laughing and loud and excited, wanting to do it again.
Highly recommend. Room was challenging, but fair (we did not finish in the hour). Staff was extremely friendly.
We booked one room but ended up staying to do a second since we had so much fun!Our group had mixed levels of escape room experience, so Caleb advised we try the mid-level rooms. The puzzles were challenging but fun, not frustrating, and were a nice mix of high-tech and traditional. They all worked as they were supposed to, which wasnt the case with another escape room business we tried out.We had a fantastic time and will definitely be back for more!
A very entertaining experience. The staff was extremely friendly, attentive, and helpful when we asked for hints in the room. I was concerned at first that it would be too easy or way too hard. Not the case. I would say the room we chose was difficult enough to be challenging but not intimidating enough that we were discouraged. In full disclosure, we (3 adults and 2 teenagers) did not solve the room in time, but we got very close. It was so much fun we are going back for a different room.
Our teens from Heritage Baptist Church really enjoyed having a night at One Way Out! Even the leaders want to go back!
It was fun with our group
We were visiting the area, looking for an evening activity. One Way Out Escape rooms really made our trip. The room was challenging and kept us engaged for the entire time. The staff was friendly and shared various information about the rooms and background on the designs (without giving clues). You could tell they were involved and interested in escape rooms and not just hired to handle tickets. Thank you
Did the train robbery, could have been more difficult. Recommend smaller group if doing that one to increase difficulty
Such a fun experience! Make sure you make reservations on their website. Staff was very friendly and helpful.Went with a group of 6, definitely better with a full group! The hour flew by and we all had a great time! Fun for teenagers and college age!
As part of a group of six who did the Baker St. room, I can say we ALL had a blast! This is one of the most fun experiences Ive ever had! Cant wait to go back and try one of the other rooms. Highly recommend this activity for anyone who enjoys solving puzzles!
Room was challenging, and staff was easy to work with and extremely helpful.Thank you
Really great place! Friendly, helpful staff and a reasonable price! Having done a few other escape rooms, I appreciated that the answers to these puzzles (we did Escape from Detention) were exact and worked like a charm.Highly recommended!
One Way Out was awesome! Staff was super, and the room I did, Baker Street Mystery, was fantastic. Would definitely recommend for every day fun, and also people looking to work group skills. Perfect for parties, field trips, etc.
Ive visited three times and had a blast each time. The staff is friendly and engaging, and the rooms have great themes with challenging, but do-able puzzles (so long as you bring a crew of smart folks with you). My favorite so far is the Sherlock Holmes room.
The room we did as a family was incredibly detailed and fun to work through. Barely made it out in time! Definitely recommend giving this place a try if you’re wanting a fun outing.
Took the family here, first time for most of us, we had a blast! We were grinning hours later!
Super inventive rooms and friendly staff. If you are in the area and want a unique escape room experience come here! I did two rooms and both where amazing. My personal favorite is The Lost Professor.
Great, friendly staff, clean facility and great escape themes!
The puzzle we had was very challenging and a lot of fun! And the people there were very helpful when we asked for help, both taking the puzzle and finding nearby places to eat when we were done! Definitely planning on returning
Its a decent escape room no complaints
So much fun! I played all the three rooms in one day! It is my first time to play escape rooms, I was kind of confused at first, but got experienced after one play. The most interesting one is the shuttered room, l love it so much. Though we 7 people didnt escape from any room, it was a great night for us. Worthy to play and nice service!!!
So fun, challenging yet doable with a team
The girl who helped us was SO SWEET! She told us about the free water, where the restroom was, she was patient with our questions, and knew a lot about the business. She said she had worked there for almost two years and was blonde. The girl that was in the room with us was EXTREMELY rude. She was never pleased with anything and treated the workers awfully and unfortunately made our experience worse, which is not at any fault of the business. In fact, the worker was so polite back to the woman, despite the her rude behavior, and made the experience worth it. Give this girl a raise! She is the only reason we would ever come back and gave five stars!
Excellent and inexpensive entertainment!! I have done two of the rooms, Trapped in the 80s and Escape Detention, and they both were a blast! The puzzles combined with the countdown timer provided the perfect balance of fun and excitement. I will definitely be back!
The staff was very helpful and courteous during our evening of team building. A lot of fun was had by all! We will definitely add this to our list of must do again! Thank you One Way Out for providing a great experience for our Team!
Ive been to several Escape Rooms before, and I really enjoyed One Way Out. The puzzle makers really thought things out and have made some satisfying puzzles to solve. There was an obvious goal on the part of the owner not to be just another escape room, but to have puzzles that were fun to solve, felt good to solve, required teamwork but also enabled teams to split into groups to solve puzzles in parallel. We had a blast and I would highly recommend getting a group together (or tagging along with another group already there) and giving one of the rooms at One Way Out a try.
The details of the room and puzzles helped to genuinely suck you into the experience! It was amazing! Well planned, neat electronic effects, and pleasant accommodations. Id definitely go there again.
Had an WONDERFUL experience at One Way Out!! Ive tried both rooms they offer and am hooked! Cant wait until they come out with another room... I will absolutely be back!! Finally something fun to do in the area!!
We had our family of 10 ages 8 to 71 go and it was a blast. It was fun, challenging, and made us work together. Great experience. We did find the professor room.
Very fun experience. I do wish the room extended a lil further for more adventure. But overall I had fun with the crew I went with, and yes we did escape! Lol
We had a group of 10 family members ranging in ages 8-71 and we all had an awesome time! It was challenging, but still fun. We had never done an Escape Room of any kind before, but now were hooked. Cant wait to try another one!
We had a blast with both rooms. Cant wait to explore the next 2 rooms
Overall good time with friendly staff. Make sure you listen to all of the instructions so you dont waste a lot of time with a clue that isnt actually a clue.
Ok so we went the second time and guess what? It was great everyone was very very helpful and we had a great time!! Gerald you are awesome! Thank you again for the second chance at escaping lol! Once we got on a roll we were able to get out of the room. The new room The Experiment is one everyone should definitely try!
I had a mental breakdown and got free water
The most fun Ive had in a while. Great group activity.
Awesome! Tons of fun! I was really hesitant at first but completely in love with puzzle rooms now. I do wish there were rooms for smaller groups, there are typically too many puzzles for only two people.
Friendly staff and a fun time! If you enjoy solving puzzles and hanging with friends, this is the event for you!
We took our churches Mens Group there this past weekend. We tried out the trapped in the 80s room. We were able to get out in time! We really enjoyed ourselves and look forward to trying the other room the next time we are out this way. 5 stars!
Everyone should try this! An actual unique experience I hadnt had before. We participated in the Shuttered Room, which we were told was one of the more difficult puzzles. We got very close, but did not escape the room in time, they werent kidding about the difficulty. The other group we came with were in the Trapped in the 80s room and made it out with one minute on the clock and they said it was excellent, just the right amount of difficulty. I definitely recommend you give it a try! We will definitely be coming back to escape other rooms. :)
Me and my friends did the Baker Street Mystery. It was a ton of fun!! I can’t wait to come back and do more rooms!
