Really nice place. It has some really fun hiking trails that are well maintained. You do need a pass though, which can be a little difficult to find. The water was really nice for swimming, but the beach area was not very clean. We found quite a few pieces of broken glass and fish hooks laying around.

Pinewood Reservoir is nestled up at the top of a beautiful drive in the front range. There are approximately 5 miles of well maintained trail. The main loop was about 2.7 miles with 300 feet of elevation. I would rate it as easygoing hiking. There is plenty of fishing and kayak/paddle board opportunities as well. Unfortunately all of the gorgeous mountains in the area are privately owned it seems. Even the road has a hostile “stay out” sign on it where the county road ends. Hard for me to get used to all of these funny boundaries people have established.

Nice area, nice lake to get out on a paddle board. small fish to catch, so I release. but otherwise only 25min from the house, so its nice for an afternoon getaway. people are usually respectful. we get a few people every now and then that paddle over my fishing lines, and Im like, did you not see me here fishing on shore, or did you not care? but otherwise the family likes it

Awesome place! Not too busy. I think we met almost every single person camping there (albeit from a distance.) Everyone was sooo friendly. It was nice to interact with people again (physically distanced of course.) Did a little sunfish sailing on the lake! Caught some moments of good wind!Camp host was awesome and fun to talk with!So close but yet so far away!! Definitely going back!

Nice, quiet mountain lake. No motor boats allowed so the whole lake belongs to paddlers. Windy but gorgeous

My home away from home. I love to escape and camp for a night since I only have 1 day off a week, usually a weekday, and its not a far drive from me. Therefore, I cant say what its like during the weekends. Its never rowdy, mostly couples or families from my experience. Since I only tent camp, I have a favorite site I reserve every time, easily done online. The sites are level and each one has a picnic table and fire ring. I sometimes fall asleep in my hammock overlooking the reservior. You hear people laughing and having a great time across the water. Dogs are welcome too! There have been many times I woke up to 2 elk running along the shore and swimming across the reservior to the other side. This morning 2 hummingbirds woke me up outside my tent. They were probably curious of my bright yellow tent.Peaceful, serene, picturesque.. By far, my favorite place to camp.

It was pretty good. My cousin and I caught about 18 fish in total. I gave it 4 stars because it would be great if there was a dock so you can fish in deeper waters.

Im a huge fanatic of water and nature. beatiful lake there and a cute little 3 mile hike that gave me all the nature i could take in and then some. easy drive to get there and loads of almost free fun to be had. for a day pass at 9 dollars id rather go back than spend that 9 bucks elsewhere. lots of lakes as well. cant wait to go back and see the place again soon

Had a great time, beautiful lake. neighbors can always be a little loud, and the tent camp spots are a little close together. Although, it definitely doesnt take away that lively, peaceful feel. My family and I definitely plan on returning!

A good place for some easy camping with friends. Vault toilets only, they were tolerable for the most part. The host this year was great. Paddle across the water and go on a hike! No 4x4 roads close by.

Hard to get to, really steep curvy mountain road. 9$ for park pass, have a Larimer county park pass but it does not work at this lake park rangers are real quick to come in and write tickets too. Really beautiful place but not worth the 9 bucks plenty of other nice areas to visit.

We reserved our spot almost a month before we went, it was worth the wait, we brought out fishing gear and bikes and tent and had to home them in and out, great exercise...there was a built in grill you have to bring your own wood to use. Each of the camp spots had a picnic table it was do beautiful there, very peaceful.

We did tent camping and it’s a little ways in there to walk can’t pull up to the site to unload. Sites were small and if you bring a little one with you and they like to wonder not a good idea our site is on a cliff heel (P22)TONS Of bees we were suppose to stay two nights but left early. Not very kid friendly for my 15 month old.

We went hiking here and didnt see anyone else on the trail. The lake doesnt allow for motorized vehicles and had plenty of fishing holes. I told my family that they should camp there if they come up to visit.

Requires you to pay to park but doesn’t have anywhere for you to pay to park. Closest place to pay to park is about 15 mins down the mountain. Quite inconvenient.

Nice lake. Lots of people use it, unfortunately they dont pick up behind themselves. Not a safe shoreline for kids or dogsThe last two outings I have picked up two trash bags of tackle, abandoned lines, weights, spoons, and some decent plugs. I was also snagged by some in my boots. Also heads up for snakes.

This is a great, quick getaway. Almost feel like Im not in Lamerier county when Im up in this area. Teach your kids about the big Thompson water project which is where the water gets sucked out of the like to go down the pipe into the turbine. Thats why theres all those buoys. There is also a trail that goes around the lake that is perfect for a hike or a light mountain bike ride. All in all its a very quick getaway and its spaced out enough that it never feels crowded. Just make sure that you pay for your daily permit or your camping permit if you plan on camping.
