My friend and I visited on a Saturday walk-in night. We had to move canvases that were stacked in front of the front door. At first we thought we were entering through the wrong door. Once we picked out what we like to paint and our size we were then escorted to a smaller room upstairs by ourselves. We got a little advice that we should paint the canvases fully first and our paints were right outside the door. The lady that was helping us was not old enough to serve alcohol and the other adult in the building was having a class. We then ask for water that we never received. There was no music, the lighting was very poor and there was no guidance to help us paint. Im sure that is different if you book a class in advance. For myself I will never visit again.

The place gets a 4 out of 5. Great time, reasonable prices, and overall good experience. I highly suggest painting a Dazzlecorn. Theyre mostly impressive to some people I heard.

This house of art was the best experience I have had, we werent very confident going in but the instructor was simply amazing to say the least. The whole place had a genuine artist vibe and even as beginners we surprised ourselves with how our art turned out. This was also Paint Your Dog night- which they dont allow for Groupons on this specific night but they accommodated my friends and I as an exception since the previous class we chose had an emergency cancellation. They are truly gifted, kind and great teachers. We will be going back for sure also bringing more friends this time as we have yet to stop talking about it!! WONDERFUL PLACE!!

Had a great time. But would like to address the turtle please get him a bigger tank and a basking light. I have turtles brought back from Florida and they need room plus basking light and a dry dock for basking on. Thanks so much.

My kids went there this week for “Slime and Messy Art” week! They absolutely loved it and Sophie was a GREAT teacher. My son was mad at me for signing him up and said he hated art but as soon as he got there he was as happy as can be and was excited every day to go. My daughter loved it—but I knew she would! My kids will be back!

This was an exciting first time experience at Whet Your Pallet. The instructor was very nice and easy to understand. The group we were with was a pleasure as well. We laughed, we sang along to the music playing and we painted (we painted abstract hearts) and they came out wonderfully. Highly recommend!

Whet your Palette sent Madison to my house for my 11year old daughters birthday party. We had twelve girls and Madison had her hands full with this energetic bunch! She was calm and patient with them and it was a fun time for all! Awesome job Madison!

What a great date night! My boyfriend and I had so much fun and our instructor Kris made a difficult portrait painting easy peasy. She stayed late and helped us until we were happy with our paintings. Great for beginners and experienced painters. Laid back vibe. Cant wait to hang our masterpieces.

We had a great Groupon that made for the perfect date night. The instructor was good and the atmosphere was fun. The only downside is its cramped in there. But overall worth a trip there and I will definitely consider going back again.

This is the best place to spend an afternoon! I visit a few times a year and paint with my friend! The staff is amazing! They are very helpful and patient!! As a bonus kitties live here and they sometimes come brush up against your ankles to say hi.

Girls night in with Ava. What an awesome night. Ava was a spectacular painting instructor. Getting to know her was a treat. Our class was made up of the 4 of us, and 3 ladies that we met that evening plus Ava. Small yet beautiful. Loud but polite. I look forward to booking another class with my friends new and established. Im so thankful we went to Whet Your Palette. Great environment. Amazing people. I hope everyone gets the opportunity to make art there.

Absolutely Loved It !!! Went there with my grandkids during a weekday. I was pleased with the pricing, options, and specials. We each did a canvas portrait. The place is well stocked with supplies. I found the environment appropriate for the messy possibilities :-) of paint spills. Aprons are provided. Parking was adequate. There are a few snacks (not many) available. I changed phones and dont have the pics in this one, but, will encourage everyone to check it out. I had fun and the grandkids (age 6) had a blast. But kudoos to the staff for the assistance they provide. The history of the place is really cool.... Location was formerly a residential home that took forever to sell. Apparently, the current owners were able to buy it at some point and rezoned it to be commercial to open up this neat place. A true two thumbs up!!!

Cool place for a date... Paint your own picture with help.

My daughter and I went for the first time. Love that you can just drop in and paint with no appointment. I had not painted in 30 years. They had tons of cards with images to copy and the paint colors used listed on the back of them. Great idea for someone who doesnt know which colors they need. Also you could paint your own picture instead. I had found an image I liked online and she even had me email it to her and she printed it out in color for me so I didnt have to use my phone. Above and beyond! The lady was extremely nice and very helpful. For those who needed it she willingly sketched out the picture in chalk on the canvas so that they could paint having the general design already laid out. This is a great place for both children and adults. They offer painting classes if you want step by step instructions each evening but for me the walk-in option was wonderful! They are open late also. I was really pleased at how my painting came out even though parts could be better if I had more time. Didnt get the colors exactly the same but thats the best part of doing your own painting, it doesnt have to be the same, you can go your own direction . Plan to go back one day when I am off so I can paint again as long as I need to. Prices are easy, One Flat price depending on what size canvas you choose and it includes any paint you need and as long as you need plus assistance if needed. I think the 8 by 10 canvas was only $10. I chose an 11 by 14 for $20 if I remember correctly. GREAT PLACE!!!!!

So fun. It is such a laid back place. The employees are so funny and they were there to help with whatever we needed. You may walk around the beautiful building, and choose what you want to paint. You dont have to do exactly what they want you to. You can also choose whichever canvas you want. I want to go back every weekend. Not to mention the prices are the best. I would give 10 stars if I could

It was my first time there, we lucked in and got in on half price at 6pm, 4 of us and it was $52.. they provided all of the supplies needed and assistance from the young girls and itll definitely be back

I never got to go, as the customer service was terrible. My family had planned on going together, and I was very excited, as we rarely all get together. When my mom emailed the owner, the owner responded rudely once & did not respond again, even when asked a direct question about the class.Someone who treats paying customers with such little importance doesn’t deserve any business. There are other places to paint in Louisville. It is a shame.

Its a drop in style paint place. They have Canvases of all sizes and just have started carrying a couple door hangers. Pretty reasonable on prices as you can do a small canvas for 10 bucks. The shop is little though so dont go peak hours.

Took a class one night with my family. The teacher was awesome and made it a lot of fun! The only downside is you have to bring your own refreshments, but they provide space for them. I definitely recommend.

This is a really wonderful Paint Your Own experience! Really beautiful building with such a great atmosphere. The staff is friendly and very helpful and can show you how to make your painting just the way YOU want it, even down to special touches. It is perfect for all ages, even very young children. I have been to many of these businesses and others just dont measure up. Great place to have a party or even just drop in to have some time by yourself or with friends. I highly recommend it to everyone.

My family has been here twice its lots of fun.

Have been twice and it was fun- however... Both times i felt crammed into the room and like I was in the personal space of my neighbor painter. The 2nd time we visited, I put my coat and purse in the corner to give myself more room, and a cat fell asleep and shed all over my stuff. If Id have known there would be an animal around, I would have left my stuff in the car.

They were so great about getting my company a private room last minute and the owner stayed over to teach our class. We had a fantastic experience and can’t wait to come back!

Fun Place to take children, friendly and helpful staff. Restroom,could be cleaner and there was mo toilet paper. Still all in all a fun place.

Allowed me to book a party. I paid for it. Got there and they banished the party to a dark small bedroom upstairs! Upset is an understatement! If that is not bad enough the manager is an angry person and cannot alllow any one to finish a statement without becoming a vigilante! Asked to speak to the owner this manager calls the owner and demands that she drive to the location. I did not ask for this. The manager did! I asked to speak with the owner. I did not refuse to speak with her over the phone. We are in the dark bedroom the kids have arrived for the party and this mad owner shows up. I am blamed for her having to come there. I am then banished from the premises of the party I paid for and after parents have dropped their kids off in my care. I can tell you that the people in charge of this place are not equipped to handle anything! I would not wish what happened at my daughters birthday on anyone! With rational and competent people in charge it would not have. Even though other painting places are more expensive they are ran by rational individuals and will be my go to place from now on!

Great fun for someone who has NO experience painting! Every person there is super friendly and does a great job at explaining how to do the picture but how to also make it your own unique creation!

There were four of us attending, including 2 early teens. The instructor was too quiet. Every single painter who was crammed into the room needed more paint of every color, so clearly theyre being stingy on the paint distribution. When I asked the instructor to show us the finished product so we could see why we are painting a gigantic Z in the middle of our canvas, she said no. They dont allow you to see it while youre painting. The other painters were also annoyed and irritated w the instructor and having twice as many ppl as could fit comfortably into the room.I will not be returning.

Firstly, we were told to wait to go to the class room while it was being set up even though we got there early. They let other people go in and get seats so were seated behind them. I could barely see what the instructor was doing which I later realized was okay because it did not seem like she knew what she was doing. The class room was also very small. And a lot of chairs were cramped in.I had loved the painting I had chose to paint but my experience was horrible. The colors she had put out were odd, there was no space on the card to mix the colors and make new ones(which by the way the instructor never told us to). The amount of paint was not enough either. The paint brushes were old and brittle as well and the small paint brush was not small enough for the details in this particular painting. Im not sure if this place is for adults at all. (I have taken many classes at many different studios in Louisville and Cincinnati and never had an experience like this).They did not let me use my Groupon for this class and told me the class was over booked. Later I was told I could pay for it to book it as there were limited seats for Groupon users and those were over booked. It was six of us there and two were Groupon users and I did not get to use my Groupon?The instructor was quiet and did not know how to teach and her painting turned out very childish at the end. Even for half off I felt this was a waste of my money!Also we were never told we would need to/could bring our own refreshments. I was shocked to see that the couple next to me had brought their own bottle of wine. As far as I know KY law prohibits this. Nonetheless I wish I had known so I could have brought something to snack on and drink.Talking on the phone and rescheduling with them has always been easy. They are nice and helpful. I am just really disappointed in the class.In the end I did not finish my painting, and will be completing it at home.I have my Groupon still so I will return. I hope to have a better experience and I will update my review accordingly.
