Great place to visit while in Los Angeles! I have never been lucky finding a parking spot here. So, I have never yet set foot in Elysian Park Reservoir Grand View Dr. Hopefully, one of these days I will.I sometimes drive friends and/or family here to see the Painted Ladies. I am always reminded of the sitcom Full House whenever I go hereAn awesome touristy spot in the beautiful city of Los Angeles.

Go to see the Painted Ladies. But wait a little while (this is written mid June 2014) since a couple of the houses were wrapped in scaffolding when I went. Its worth the postcard photo op. One of these times Ill go at dusk for a better perspective.

If I had a nickel for every time Ive visited Golden Gate Park.... Id have a dime. Which is rather a shame. And I dont mean because coins are virtually useless, only good for chucking at pantomimes, but because this park is awesome!! My infrequent trips to San Francisco have been brief vacations, because even with how fast I drive, San Francisco is not a convenient weekend getaway! Its a good 5 hour drive, minimum. Sure, when I was young, no kid, no wife.... Hell, I used to make it from LA to Seattle in 18 hours. But, once again: young, no kid, no wife. But wives need to eat. Kids need to poop. Both get all grumpy otherwise. Wives and kids dont understand about making good time! Its all moot now anyway.... Im old. No way I drive 1,200 miles in 18 hours again! Maybe I should get back to the review.....

The grass is so green and everything is well maintained. The east/central part is where all the tourists are, but there arent many people on the west part. Its a huge park to cover, with a windmill and Ocean Beach at the end to cap off the long walk and amazing views.

This park used to be one of my favorite underrated spots one must visit while in LA, especially the Chinatown/Lincoln Heights side--not only for the gay cruising, but also for the peace you get from being in nature, and the great views of the Los Angeles City skyline. However, lately, I can say little I approve of the maintenance of this side of the park. While Vin Scully Drive is a main entrance to the park, and thus Dodger Stadium, its well maintained and manicured. On the other hand, the Broadway entrance is also a main artery into the park, but is so poorly maintained that someone should declare most of it a health hazard. It seems that the park employees are lackadaisical at best, as I have observed them napping in their City vehicles in various places in the park. Trash cans are a rarity here, as they have been systematically removing trash receptacles on this side and the nearby Radio Hill and Gardens. The Citys treatment of the homeless people there is disagreeable, too, because it seems, from my observation, that they do not clean the areas that there are encampments; they only destroy them so that people will not be able to occupy that site. Also, there are actually pools of used condoms in different areas of the park, and thats just disgusting. Add this to a lack of adequate and accessable bathrooms, necessitating people using nature instead, creates a level of unsanitary conditions that should be corrected immediately, for the sake of all those who frequent the park.

Great park. Lots of different environments. Plenty of picnic space and bbqs. Has bathroom facilities - not the best, but normal for a public park bathroom
