Fun place to see music. Has free shows sometimes. Have karaoke nights where you sing on the main stage. Drinks are ok. But a fun spot. Has a small back patio.
Very entertaining place. The musicians in the band were very versatile and knew a ton of songs. Some were played better than others. At times annoyingly loud and/or out of tune, while others they’d be right on the money. It was annoying to have the waitress making us close our already open tab at the bar, so we could open another one with her. Not what I call efficient. The drinks where really affordable.Oh! The place was freezing!
Went on a first date here and wasnt sure if we were going to eat dinner or not. I told the hostess this and she handled the situation like a pro. I was amazed at her ability to set up the situation to gracefully get the answer I needed and it made me look good too. 5 stars for this woman. While the date turned out to be a 1 star, the ambiance, drinks and service left a memorable impression.
Always fresh and delicious! Everything that Ive eaten has been delicious... highly recommend.. my fav is fish and grits.
I used to come here when it was owned by a different owner. This place is better in every category. Perfect tables perfect temperature great beer great music great TVs.
The atmosphere here is great. I love the brick wall and decor and the two level approach to the building--you can come here for dinner upstairs, or have a drink and hang out with a separate bar menu downstairs in the lounge.
Perhaps one of my favorite bars to visit downtown, Howl at the Moon Hollywood has become a space Ive visited on numerous occasions; work happy hours, meetings with friends, and even alone to do some writing. The staff are kind, and know a thing or two about the wine.
Very surprised I have to admit and so happy to finally have tried one more of our local hangouts. Food: fresh clean and not greasy so a big win in my book. The drinks : had the Apple pie mule and oh yessss def à winner. Jacqueline our server: a total cutie and so good sweet fast and on point so all I can say is glad
Ive come here a few times for brunch and am never disappointed. This morning I had the caramelized apricot pancakes that had a great crust around the edges- very tasty!
Love this place. Its become our regular Sunday brunch spot. Everyone who works there is soooo nice. Really like their steak salad & on their brunch menu, their hash.
This place has wonderful cover music being played. One of the players was multi-talented which was very impressive. The service was quick and efficient, however, the customer service was not the best. They do not present a friendly nor happy vibe except for one person, Ti. She was friendly and sweet, until we mentioned that our tab was at the bar, so her attention to cleaning our table was not her priority. Other than that, the music is great, great vibe and nice, and not to excessive place to be.
Fantastic place with lively bar with a party vibe featuring dueling piano shows & novelty bucket drinks.
Very friendly staff, competetive prices and super tables for pool. I enjoyed very much. Its my place for pool)
I went in to have a snack with my family. There was an awesome singer playing the guitar, Johnnie Ferro.Food was great and the atmosphere fantastic!
Great food. Awesome happy hour. Even better beer selection!!! Great place to meet up after work.
Incredible venue and night out! Performers were top notch and super entertaining. The servers, greeters, bartenders and event staff were welcoming, friendly, attentive, and great at their jobs. Safe to say the entire crowd had a blast. Will definitely be back!
Great live performance. Seating section was good. Location was good. Atmosphere was good.
Made a 30 minute trip to come here during business hours... closed with no mention online. Great communication with potential clients.
This place is always a blast! One of the best tiki bars in Los Angeles. The atmosphere is spot on and the drinks are delicious. They do not have food, but you can order Grub Hub delivered here and theyre ok with it. Little Tonys pizza is a block down and their pizza is amazing! I usually order from there over the phone, have a few more sips, then go pick it up. As long as you have a table youre all set. ;)
My friend and I traveled over to Oakland from San Francisco to see if we could figure out the Oakland nightlife scene and I am glad we did.
Its a pretty cool concept, but its sort of a mix between a bar and a nightclub. That could be good or bad depending on how you look at it. Loud bar or intimate nightclub.
Its a great place to chill with your girl in my opinion. My only complaint is that the drinks feel watered down with the sweet flavoring. Another thing I disliked was the restrooms. It was so lonely and seems sketchy.
Great atmosphere. If you arrive early it can seem extremely loud but as the time went by the guests came crowding through creating a community of regulars who seemed to know one another from the previous location and were reunited And excited to gather again.
Definitely a fun spot but make sure you get there early to get a table
Manager Alvin was belligerent with me for my surprise party bringing balloons for my birthday! I had so much fun but will NEVER go there again period!
Looking forward to Friday the 20th celebrating mine and three friends birthdays. Love the new location.
Reserved a table and bought the moonlight package for my wifes birthday. They went out of their way to make her night amazing and we will never forget that. Everyone who performed was incredibly talented and made it fun to sing along, even though we were surely out of tune. Can not recommend this place enough.
Great mixed drinks. Love the choice style of music.
Sunday night is 3 for 1 drink and the music was awesome.
Same place that was at Universal City Walk, they just moved to Hollywood. Great music, good drinks!
Great place for live music! Drinks are outstanding
Dam best place Ive been to.
All Katey Perry pop, and zero piano bar classics. Im a super lightweight, and two drinks and Im done. Four rum and cokes later... I dont have a buzz at all. Never tasted the rum. Most expensive cokes Ive had. Both of these probably explain the bland non responsive crowd.
I visited the venue on Friday and Saturday with some friends who invited me to come out, on top of having a real good time I was most impressed with the ladies bathroom attendant. She had an extensive variety of toiletries and everything in between. She was pleasant, courteous and very helpful. Just thought I would comment, because I have encountered numerous attendants and some of the attitude could use a little adjusting. Overall I had a great experience.
Fun engaging music artists and strong drinks
I’ve been to 5 or 6 different dueling piano bars across the country and it is by far the most impressive experience I’ve ever had. The muscians are talented to the point that I had a legitimate conversation of flying them across the country to do a wedding. Also had a girlfriend repeatedly requesting Lady Gaga and Country Roads and they made fun of her with me.
We had won a happy hour event and cut us off half way. Had also purchased drinks and requested reimbursement for not distributing drinks to designated purchaser, tried escalating with manager but just called more security. Was not professional whats so ever, would not recommend to anyone bad vibes the staff is very discriminative and does not do what right for its customer
This was my third time being at Howl At The Moon, twice with parties and each time it has been a top notch experience! This past time I was celebrating the acquisition of my Master’s degree so my guests were a mix of friends and family members. All of them kept repeatedly stating what a fun experience it was at this venue. It was truly an amazing experience and I can’t think of a single thing that could have been improved upon! The wait staff was timely and gracious, the manager Randi that booked our tables was very helpful throughout the process and arranged things so that when we arrived it went smoothly, and the performers were interactive and lively, pulling myself and my family members on stage multiple times to dance!I definitely intend to come back again in the near future!
This was one of my best experiences at a piano bar and Ive been to many. The players are very talented and they play as a band more often then most piano bars. It was a great night!
Great bar and club to go to. Really great atmosphere and Citywalk is perfect for a great night out. Cant say enough about this place. Great bartenders also. Please make sure to tip them good money. Must visit if you are a visitor from out of town. 5 stars.
For a place that advertises itself as a dueling piano bar I saw NO Pianos. When we entered the bar I asked the lady taking the cover charge, if there was table service and a place to sit as I was with my parents and they wanted to see some live music. She assured me that there was. So we paid the cover and went in. the place was deafening loud with a terrible cover band (no pianos). Not a single table inside. So we went outside to the patio. Security ensured me that there would be a waitress out and nothing for 15 minutes. So we left! I asked for a refund on the cover because the lady lied to me about the situation in the bar. She smirked and said we dont to refunds. I was looking for a nice night out with my folks and instead we were robbed.
Came to see the individual artists playing on Wednesday. Great music. Interesting bucket drinks. Staff is very welcoming. No food or appetizers. We brought in some pizza. Love the vibe here.
My husband and I have been going here since we were dating. Its always a lot of fun. The musicians are fun and friendly, the drinks are really good and reasonably priced. I only wish they served food.
Plane is great, the good songs play at 12 midnight til close. So show up at 10 or 11, get drunk then then at 12 start dancing!
New location, owner not present to give updates info.
Chill place. Reasonable prices for drinks. My 1st time here was good
Great place to come to on weekends specially on Sundays to have drinks and sing your night off with friends its not a karaoke bar dont get confused with sing your night off lol. Its a piano bar they play up to almost any song you can think of on the piano. This place is live and the staff there awesome. Definitely a unique experience.
Great venue!
Lively atmosphere, fun entertainment. There was a $10 cover on a Saturday night; standing room only by 8pm. This is one of those places with at least two bachelor/bachelorette parties in attendance at any given time. Recommend this place to folks from out of town who are trying to do the Hollywood thing and are looking for a good time. If you actually live in Los Angeles you would never come here on purpose.
Great place to get some drinks on the weekends. The crowd is usually mature, whish is good when alcohol is involved. Good staff and artists performing are really energetic.
Woooooo baby so much fun
This was my first time here, and I loved it!! It was nice that you could dance if you wanted, or just chill if you wanted. Super fun, great music, great drinks and atmosphere!
Came in on a weekend was a busy night the place was crowded standing room only. Was very fun to watch the singers and the crowd joining in to sing. Drink are typical of most bar places. The fun atmosphere is what makes this place awesome and good to come visit again
Super fun. Impressive musicians. Wide variety of music. Dance... Dont dance - audience is part of show. Love love love
Fantastic atmosphere and a hard working band. Oh yeah. Great time. Cant wait to go back.
Great place to party, cheap but great tasting drinks, live musicAble to set up happy hour partiesGreat place !
Cool place to hangout and drunk, good music is mixed in different ways making it even better, only problem that when it is peak hour you cant walk... too many people just standing around... and some tables are too close to the speakers... its a small place so this problems become apparent very quickly.
Fun place friendly n on week nights just nice place to relax n unwind in safety
First time at a piano bar... Came on a Friday. $10 cover. Live band played pop and top 40 type music. Some classic rock songs were also played which I liked. Drinks priced normal/ok. Had a good time, but nothing really hooked me on returning.
Always a great time to go
AWFUL. AWFUL!!! The general manager is a condescending jerk! Paid $175 for a table for 6. He ruined my daughters 21st birthday. We drove from San Diego to have this experience and it was the worst birthday ever. He looked like he was high, refused to give us a refund after not having enough seating for our small party. Why anyone would hire this guy to manage a bar is beyond me! His customer service skills are atrocious! Our evening was based around this place, NEVER AGAIN! Even the sheriff deputies were perplexed at this guy! Yes the sheriffs became involved because he refused to properly accommodate our party, and refused to refund our payment even though we received nothing for the $175 cover charge! Nasty attitude unless you are dressed like a skank! Our jump the line passes were out of the question and we were told to wait, even though corporate instructed me to not wait in the line! What a joke, shame on all of you!!!
Fun place to go with friends to sing along to Top 40 songs all night! Some dance space, but it gets super full!
Awesome first time experience there
I went to this place for the first time with a few friends this past Saturday. I was having a good time until close to midnight when I went to the Ladies room. I had been trying to get over a cold and I usually cough pretty bad. I was inside the bathroom doing my business and I started coughing very bad. All of a sudden, someone knocked on the bathroom door and yelled: “Are you ok in there?” When I came out, there was a female bouncer (didn’t catch her name) standing there and as I went to wash my hands, she told me that I needed to follow her that I can’t be in the club anymore. I didn’t understand why. She claimed that I was vomiting and I need to exit the premises. I kept telling her that I was not throwing up. I did have a little drink, but I was NOT vomiting. She didn’t listen and took me through a creepy hallway to exit from the back. My belongings, phone and jacket were with my friends inside the club and I was not given a chance to go and at least get my stuff before she kicked me out. There were two security officers standing outside and I explained the situation to them. One of them said: “You do look fine to me ma’am, but since you got kicked out, we are not allowed to let you back in”. He also asked if I had my phone with me to call my friends to bring my stuff. I said: “no”. Then, he laughed at me and told me with a sarcastic tone: “ha ha!! You don’t carry your phone??”. No! At that moment, I didn’t! I just left my stuff with my friends at our table and just went to use the bathroom. Little did I know, this place would actually kick people outfor doing their business INSIDE the bathroom!!So, I kept telling the same security officer that I was NOT vomiting and was just coughing inside the bathroom and that I am very cold, need my jacket and my phone. All he said that he couldn’t do anything about it and that I cannot even sit there on the stairway and have to go up by where elevators are right at the parking lot! I ended up sitting there for 30 min shivering from the cold weather and hoping someone would actually show mercy and let me back in the club. Finally, after a half hour, two of my friends got worried that I was gone for so long and after looking for me for a while, they came outside and saw me sitting up near the stairway. They found another security guard and explained the situation and he allowed me back in. I was shaking from the cold weather for while even though inside was warm. Then, a few min before the club starts to close down, I escorted one of my friends to the bathroom because after what happened to me, I didn’t want her to get kicked out and stranded by herself. As we were leaving the ladies room, the same bouncer lady who kicked me out earlier approached me and said in a very rude way: “What are you doing here?? I thought I kicked you out!!!” I said: “yes ma’am. You kicked me out for no reason, but the security guard decided that I was ok to come back inside”. She said: “You need to leave now!!!” I said: “We are leaving. Can I just take my stuff first???” So, we grabbed our stuff and left this God for Saken place. The next day, all the way through Tuesday, I got very sick, had very bad chills (In the 85 degree outside temperature), and was coughing very bad and had to take the two days off of work.Is this how they treat costumers?? First, they accuse me of vomiting inside a PRIVATE bathroom without any evidence. Then, they kick me out without giving me the right to grab my belongings! What if I got stranded and needed my phone??? What if I needed my jacket and ended up with pneumonia? Even if I was vomiting, I was INSIDE the bathroom, in my own privacy!!! Either way, I had the right to get my stuff before getting kicked out! I spent money there and deserved to be treated with respect! Rather, I feel very violated. I’m obviously not coming back here that’s for sure, but I will make sure to follow up with the owner of this place regarding this matter. This is absolutely NOT okay!!
Such a horrible place, save yourself the trouble and never go here.
The bartenders, the hostess, and waitress were all lovely individuals. When my friends and I came here last night the entertainment was amazing, but what was unacceptable was the aggressive security member and belittling manager. We were sitting at a table in which a waitress asked us to move for safety reasons and to make her job easier so she can weave through the crowed room. Totally understandable and we did that without complaint. What was baffling was after a few minutes was having one of the members from security walk up to the table and start aggressively demanding, without preamble, that the tables be moved again and state it was not the waitress job to tell you to move the tables. Obviously, there are some tensions and no comnunication that is going on between staff members that are being expressed on the floor and being projected onto customers. Unfortunately, one of the members of our group did get extremely drunk and as I am guiding her to the door to get her card and just take her out of the place I have the same aggressive staff member start yelling at us we need to leave. I stated calmly that we are and I understand her condition requires us to go, but I still need to grab her card from the bartender. The staff member would not let us grab it. He turned it into a scene in which he refused us the opportunity to close out a tab. When I finally managed to get the staff member out of my face and have my friend situated outside I asked to see the manager. I explained the situation in which I agreed with the decision that my friend needed to leave the bar, but I had issues with the fact we were denied the opportunity to close out her tab and that while I was being complacent and doing exactly what the staff member asked he still choose to tell in my face about my friend and how we couldnt get her credit card. The managers response was to attempt to not deal with me directly and make remarks that were meant to make my friend agitated, and to make blatant excuses for the staff member that blamed me for following directions. Unacceptable.
Way crowded bar. The pianos duel each other and they take request (tips get you your song faster). We made a little dance room on the floor but it sure was difficult to get a table and keep it.
The crowd here is always diverse, its a nice contrast to the strict dress codes and stereotypical crowd at other clubs. It does get crowded fast, so come early to pick your spot (or a table, but those are gone earlyyyy)!
Cheap drinks on Sunday. Fun piano bar. Entertaining place for tourists.
If youre looking for a different experience, this is the place. So many unique characteristics - 86oz buckets of booze, dueling pianos, jello shots in syringes! The ambiance is loud and lively, and the music compliments that. Come with friends, and try a jello shot.
Terrible bar service and the drinks were bad. Music wasnt terrible but wasnt great either.
Great ambience
They seriously need to reevaluate their security. I have nearly a decade of bar/club experience under my belt in everything from bartending, to security so Im not just blowing smoke. Though I understand that the guy up front had no say in the fact that they made me return to my car to put on a sweatshirt because they have an extremely strict No Tanktop policy. I was wearing a sleeveless T-shirt...In July in the San Fernando Valley. Apparently they didnt want me trashing up the place. Then after I had had literally ONE BEER I stepped out to the patio for a cigarette and security made a whole thing when I leaned on the rail. Like somehow that would be considered drunken disorderly. This place is as idiotic as it is pretentious. If you want to spend 8 dollars for a beer or 15 for a cocktail you could save your time dignity and go someplace else in Hollywood that at least wont harass you and knows what they are doing.
Love this place went with friends had a great time just dancing ang hangingnout if you like the quiet go during the week and hear the band duting the weekend its suoer loud and has more people . I sometimes enjoy the quiet. The bands are very lively and the people ate friendly. I love going around the holidays.
Birthday party here! Delicious drinks and very fun. They will always get to your songs.
Oscar was very nice and gave excellent customer service. Nice place, a little crowded but good ambiance.
Absolutely love this place! Awesome service, drinks, and entertainment!
I agree with the other reviews. This is one of the worst bars I have been to. Over priced, drinks are watered down, and the place was dead when I was there. It definitely caters to an older crowd and those that do not go out often. It took forever to get a drink and I was normally the only one at the bar. This place has some of the rudest wait staff of any venue I have been to. I was finally so disgusted I had to walk out despite the $15 parking and $10 cover I paid to buy rum & cokes at $15 a pop. The people at the door were really friendly though!!
Park with the citywalk valet and Sun-Thurs after 7pm the Howl at the Moon parking validation makes your parking $3.Fun experience. Very memorable. Byo food. Get drunk. Take a lyft home.Drinks are 3 for 1 on Sundays - ALL drinks. Its dueling pianos THURS-SUN, closed MON-Tues, local bands Wed.
Admittedly we came here on a holiday evening (it was still a Saturday Night), door staff/security were inhospitable and downright rude. Drinks outrageously overpriced (and I live in a tourist town/mecca). Server staff were good, washroom attendant was exceptional. Band was ok (some band members were much better than others). We stayed 2 hours and not one request was played by the Dueling Pianos, this was more of a cover band jam session - which on its own would have been fine, but they are advertising this place as a dueling piano bar (and taking our $ and requests). I would not have had an issue with this if it was maybe 30 minutes of jam session interlude, but after 2 hours (a full cover charge for each of us, with no notice that its not dueling pianos tonight) and 2x $35 buckets full of ice and a few splashes of bottom shelf booze, we gave up and left. Our server must have had some pity on us after taking our request and $ to the queue, as they gave us some free admission passes in case we ever decide to return.Enter with caution.
It was our first time coming here and we did not like it at all. First of Im mexican and my husband is black so as soon as we get to the entrance the security guard ask to see my husbands tattoos which are clearly visible. He has the nerve to ask do u have any area codes tattooed on him we told him does it look like he has any on him the security said its standard procedure I have to check and ask. Well then the rest of our party came in and I asked my best friends husband if they did the same to him and he said no. He clearly has a big tattoo on his arm so is it because he is mexican and my husband is black? Makes u wonder. Now I approached the man at the entrance and asked for his name he said for what I told him I would like ur name because I am going to speak with ur supervisor. The receptionist called the supervisor. As Im speaking to the supervisor I told him we felt as if his security guard was unprofessional and why did he look at and question the tattoos on my husbands body but did not even bother to look at my best friends husbands tattoos. The supervisor did not respond with any answers instead another employee got involved and this man was white and even had the nerve to say no u cant see any of the tattoos on ur arms like what are u serious. Clearly they have no control over their employees because if Im speaking to the supervisor and another employer gets involved why didnt he say anything why didnt he try to resolve the problem why did he just stand their like he was lost and did not know how to be a suoervisor?? Makes me so angry but never again will I come here they are a joke.I will not be contacting anyone from this facility as they are a joke. If the supervisor could not help me and was letting the employees speak for him what difference would it make if I spoke to the owner. I will spend my good earned money elsewhere.
We we went to check out the place So we can Celebrate our Daughters 21st in May and we had a great time . Hope we get called in to win a Happy Hour Party
Great place to have fun and act crazy.
Worst place ever !!! Dont pay them or give them your money !they lie to you right when you walk into the doorThe lady there told me we had guaranteed seats !! And that the dance floor was greatNo way !! Place was So small I could not even walk through the tablesThe dance floor was ridiculous smallMy restroom is bigger than that so called dance floorNot only that, the worst part is they talked down on saddle ranch saying they had bad serviceI mean it was only 10$I dont really mind the moneyI mind the lies and the service the 2 young ladys gave us when we walk inI dont believe people like that should be hired they are Just making this place look bad !
Great environment. Awesome musicians!
Drinks, music girls is great but switch up play list same songs every other weekend at times gets the people going but you know.
The worst experience ever, Waitresses and specially bouncers are freaking rude and racist. Unless they know you they will make sure to rip you off and if you complaint because they kept your money the bouncers will kick you out. DONT USE YOUR CREDIT CARD, they do a lot of bad activity there and God Forbid you complain!!!!
I loved the band that performed here! The place was great as well, but the bartender.. I went in to this club thinking i was gonna get decently great service with bartenders that know their drinks but nope, this woman didnt know how to make a classic martini which bothered me. From when i got my first i thought something was off but didnt care, i was enjoying my self, then when i got my second i noticed there was something different again so when i went for my third i kept my eye on her as she made it, turns out she was just pouring gin and adding two olives and that was it, no vermouth what so ever. I got charged $36 for gin and olives. I dont care to pay that for martinis, but the point was that my drink wasnt properly made. This upset me quite a bit. If they had knowledgeable bartenders last night then my rating would of been a 5 star. Its the little things that count.
Fun live entertainment with dueling pianos.Jello shot lady.Fun times.
Been here about 3 times but last was prolly the last. I feel the band used to be stronger before, some older blonde waiter was quite rude and its always super crowded, you cant really dance or move.
They use to have 3x1 drinks on Sundays but they changed the policy people dont go thinking they have that deal anymore. Youve been warned place is still cool though
Bar sucks ass..was having good time thn security say my wife nd her friends were to drunk to stay whn thy were not
Cheap drinks, good music, and an overall fun place to be
Nice place on a thursday night first time I steped foot in the bar and ended up getting kicked out due to a friends lack of control but overall a nice place lots pic goodlooking ladies especially the cute blonde pianist that night.
This place has a lot of angry midgets. They dont like people putting buckets on the piano and they dont like girls stumbling in restroom stalls.
Very fun environment
My husband and I LOVE coming here!
Small, decent music, good drinks.
