I was impressed with the modern decor. Think upscale Hollywood lounge. I like their red wine flights, but would prefer a larger selection to choose from. Prices are somewhat expensive, but they gotta pay for all that swanky furniture.
Ive amended my original review from a 4-star to a well-deserved 5 because they just keep getting better. Also, the purpose of my review is not only to praise but to inform.TIP 1: DOWNLOAD THE APP. Aside from making purchasing/cancelling EASY, it automatically enrolls you in their FREE Alamo Victory Rewards program AND makes scrolling the programming/offerings more pleasant. From mainstream blockbusters to MOVIE PARTIES, they have so much to offer.PARKING: They validate if you park in THE BLOC parking. $2.50 for under 2hrs and $4 for 3hrs. Sometimes at night I park on the street so that I can do a double-feature and not worry. And taking the Metro is even more convenient... as an exit in 7th (Red Line) is connected to the complex.FOOD: Im vegetarian so my faves are the: Crispy Cauliflower w/vegan ranch and their Beyond Burger. The french fries are great (more like potato slices curled) and the bottomless popcorn is never a bad idea. And VIDEO VORTEX!!! Free rentals (DVD) and an amazing bar/gift shop.
Nice wine lounge, tasting bars, and mingle space. The atmosphere is so warm and inviting. The staff at the Fritz Winery tasting bar was educated about their wine collection and selections. Next time, I would love more time to chat with the staff and try additional wines.
This establishment is a great place to hang out and have some drinks and play some pinball and old school arcade games. The bathrooms were clean i loved that the faucet was outside the bathroom. There was no line for the bathroom and i was shocked. Great idea for a bar setting and the place was clean as well. The bartender Alex Miller was the best ever. She Was helpful in making my drinks not so strong and i seemed to catch a nice buzz while playing pinball. Thank you Alex for making our eve great . We will be back next time we come to sf
Love this theater! It’s such a haven for film lovers.Great comfortable seats in smaller theaters with real movie lovers. Which means fewer rude and annoying people.Love the fact that you can order food and drinks right from your seat and the staff is extremely and helpful. And they will validate parking!!
Alamo Drafthouse Cinema Downtown Los Angeles! Very nice its a fancy spot with nice comfortable seating the food is okay the theater clean. It was pricey I mean it could use an upgraded menu, other than that its pretty nice.
Such a fun place for our group of friends! Tony the attendant was awesome! He unlocked a ton of games for us and taught me some of the secret moves on Street Fighter. Also a great selection of beverages and overall a great time. Thank you Brewcade and Tony for making my birthday party awesome.
Love this place!!! It changes how you want to watch movies. I cant wait until it opens back up after covid.
Wonderful theater home! I wasnt hoping this location could get my heart. Ill certainly be giving this location my cherished5 stars! They had their yummy snacks and enjoyed Fries which was really wonderful. A theater house enjoyed that was perfect to remain with your family and friends too. Trust me!
Much love and respect to this cinema house because this place really is on top when it comes to providing a great movie experience. It was these guys that managed to provide me great pop corns and comfortable seats during the movie, and it was nice because I really enjoyed. Indeed, a great place to bring your loved ones or friends. KUDOS!
Love the style of the cinema SO MUCH!! I didn’t know they serve food inside, but I actually don’t mind it and my experience was very nice. It’s a bit pricey compared with other places but totally worth it.Also, the mall is very chic and walkable. Metro has an entrance directly leads you into the mall which reminds me my Asian life very much.I highly recommended and will definitely come back, often.
After seeing this place on Buzzfeed worth it videos, I was set on coming here! The portion sizes are perfect, and each plate of pasta is customizable with the type of sauce and noodle. It also comes with a complementary side of bread. The only downside is that there are only a few tables to sit. It gets really crowded in this small restaurant.
It was such a great experience. They have great food and drink options. Staff is great and demonstrated mature patience, even while being bombarded with questions and trying to help everyone out they remained calm, assisted everyone and remained friendly while doing so.Had the oatmeal stout, highly recommend it and same goes for the truffle popcorn, a decent portion and a great experience but will most definitely be sticking to the classic flavor with just some buttery goodness on top :)Got to also look around and had some great merch along with some great arcade games next to the bar area But above all their collection of indie films was unimaginable. Happy to have something like this so near.
Its a little more than other theaters but well worth it. Seriously as comfy as sitting at home in your own space. Great selection of food on the menu and cant beat the big wine you can get. This place even does a season pass type of deal so you can go a ton. You wont regret checking this place out.
I went last night. The presentation of the movies is very good. It feels like a theater from the 70s. I liked the layout of the bathrooms. The trwater has table service. You write your order on a card and someone pulls it and completes your order. Theres a full compliment of beers and wines, too. There is a video store/lounge below to spend time at before or after the movie.Tickets are $18.
So happy to have this location open. If you have never experienced a movie watching experience at the Drafthouse, you are in for a treat. The building this cinema is in has a maze of elevators (seriously like 4 that dont go to all floors), but there is a side elevator that goes directly to the theater from the parking structure. I wish I lived closer to go more frequently, and I love the board game collection. Lighting could be a bit better for games though, especially during the day.
This place is really fun! FYI there is free parking with validation. They have cool themed drinks (we had a Gin & Sonic) and reasonably priced food options. I also loved the restored vintage movie posters and little section for movie rentals. There are gender neutral bathrooms, meaning one line for closed stalls and a room with urinals. Worth the trip downtown.
This place is only a month old but it already became my favorite Cinema in LA. Food is great, prices are on par to what youd pay for food and drinks in LA. Service is great and the couches are very comfy, not too comfy that youd fall asleep on them because they dont recline backward only the leg part comes up. The bar at the entrance is real cool with an arcade and projector amongst other things. I purchased my tickets online and just walked myself in up the escalator in to my seats. The waiters walking around try their best to not be intrusive during the movie and they do a great job at not ruining it. I had the torta thich was real tasty, the drinks were pretty strong as they should be and the King shake is whats going to get me coming back.
If you are a cinema fan who needs the quiet on your movie-viewing experience WHILE having dinner or a beer, then Alamo is the answer. Ive been to their locations in Texas and they never disappoint. Their extra clips of interviews, curated lists of movies you might like, their bar, video vortex rental and games is a great haven. Its always clean, fun and staff is super friendly. The only reason why its one star shy is the location. The Bloc is not the easiest place to get to by car when I first came here with my fiance. Its super convenient Metro rail-riders who can just stop right underneath the building. Thats a plus for me who uses the rail to and from work. Additionally I wish theres an easier way to get up 3-4 floors without doing partial stairs and partial elevators. One straight shot of an elevator would have been better. But dont let that deter you from visiting. I promise its super worth it!
Great place to watch a movie, have dinner and drinks. Vintage cozy atmosphere and services. Highly recommended.I watched VHYES excellent movie, filmed with a VHS 80s camera, produced by Tim Robbins and directed by his son Jack Henry Robbins, I laughed a lot, and got trapped in the tape as the kids characters. Highly recommended, I just learned that will leave Alamo Cinema soon. Dont miss!!
Awesome place. Im only ever coming here to see movies from now on. Full bar with a ton of beers to enjoy while you wait for your movie. Inside the theater, comfy recliners (though I do wish they went back further), and a huge food and drink menu at reasonable prices. The food was excellent.
This place just took the No. 1 spot to watch a movie in LA. Super comfy. The food and drinks are way better than they should be. Service is top notch. Quality of picture and sound is professional grade. The atmos is superb. I cant say anything bad about this place.
I hope this place stays in business for a while because downtown is just sorely lacking in anything compelling or innovative. Not to mention they will screen movies that you will see nowhere else in the city. And the bar is also refreshing for the culture that it adds with its trivia nights and casual environment and the fact that there are free board games if you want to bust out a game with some friends. The lighting could be a little better for that but then again I should start wearing my reading glasses. And the fact that they have free bubble bobble wow that just rules.
The most interesting moviegoing experience I have had in years! The decor was spectacular. The seats were comfortable. The service and servers were very engaging plus I had a good meal while watching a good movie. I love the fact that they discourage texting so you can enjoy the movie, like you should. Date night place for sure!
Im giving this place 3 stars. I didnt love my experience here. The seats are comfortable and the quality of image and sound are good. But the service is a bit odd. I ordered Popcorn and a beer before the movie began. It took 20 minutes to get the popcorn which was drenched in butter and I specifically asked for just a drop of butter. Then it took another 10 minutes to get my beer and a few minutes more for napkins. By this point we were well into the movie and I was distracted from the film because I was dealing with getting my order. I guess I prefer to just get my popcorn and drink and walk into the theater with it in place and not mess around with ordering, waiting, etc.
An independent movie I had been looking to see for some time popped up playing at the NEW ALAMO DRAFTHOUSE in Los Angeles, so the girl friend and I decided to check it out!Located in The BLOC Los Angeles is a movie lovers dream theater experience. The lobby is a bar mixed with arcade games, free movie rentals, board games, and movie merchandise. Up the escalator you find the theaters & more friendly staff than you know what to do with! I was stoked on the amazing classic movie poster art adorning the walls throughout this place!I have been to a few theaters that offer food & beverages in theater, and my biggest issue was always the waiters/waitresses/food runners obscuring the view of the movie itself or talking loudly while taking a food order... just the opposite here! Quiet & professional was the food service staff as the brought us Whiskey Banana Split Shakes (amazing) and pizza such a good set up that allows us to eat, drink, and watch a movie without killing the movie going experience Overall I am excited for any reason to return to this theater. The passion for movies is definitely felt here, and I can see myself visiting with friends in the not too distant future!
Love this theater. Very comfortable. Great service. Join the membership and get free rentals, free movies and other perks. Great to just hang out and drink at the bar while playing retro video games. They also host very cool events open to everyone.
Great service, clean area. Good selection of beer friendly employees, get to have anything delivered to your seat when watching a movie. Get to hangout at the bar if you just feel like having a drink. Has board games to play with friends too. My go to theater now.
Now this place hosts the best kind of movies. Lets just call them CERTIFIED BANGERS! Went for a CATS screening and had the time of my life. Food was good. Movie was GREAT! And the host knocked my paws off.
Continuing to visit every Alamo Drafthouse that I can. This is the newest addition to the family. While visiting LA I got to see two movies at this location. The beer selection was excellent and they had some special food not available at other locations (chipotle chicken burrito ).Ill definitely be back if Im ever in the area.
Always love coming to Alamo! I wish every theater experience was similar to the experience they give you.Great food. Strong drinks. All brought right to your seat - And a movie. Its as close to the at home experience as you can get - only NO TALKING! That is obviously the biggest pet peeve of any regular theater goer - but Alamo will toss you out for talking, and it makes movie going such an amazing experience.Unlike every other theater I go to, make sure you arrive EARLY. Not only do they shut the doors (and if youre late, too bad) but youll want time to grab a drink at the downstairs bar, check out the games available for play, shop their kitchy movie-related store, and get to your theater in time to peruse the menu with the lights on, get that first order in, and settle down. The previews start BEFORE the start time - so if your movie is at 7:30 - the movie itself starts at (or just past) 7:30. Dont - be - late!Overall, could not ask for a better experience. Alamo is one of the main reasons Im sad to be moving away from downtown. But Ill definitely still make it back here occasionally.
The MOVIE cinema place to go to! Better than Regal and AMC! Sell alcohol and have a great menu. Honestly everything is good to eat here! Free refills on popcorn. And you can do this all from your seat (which reclines too)
Where to start? The bad location? The rude staff? The overpriced tickets? I guess well go in order. It is VERY difficult to get to, and even find once youre there. Theres a sign in the BLOC complex that straight up points the opposite direction of where to go. Once wed actually found it after wasting almost ten minutes looking for it, we were one minute (thats right, literally sixty seconds) late...and they wouldnt let us in. Not only that but they were unbelievably rude about it, even laughing at us for not being able to find them.Long story short, this was our first time going to an Alamo Drafthouse. Wed heard good things - its for movie lovers! But after having our night ruined, theyve lost three customers for life. We went to Arclight, saw the same movie with the same luxuries for a lesser price and friendlier staff.
I really enjoyed watching the movie here with my family, while eating popcorn. want to visit again.
So Ive been here a few times now, as I avidly watch movies in my free time. I can whole heatedly say that I believe this to be one of, if not the best theatre in LA! It has everything that someone who enjoys movies will appreciate:Assigned seating (with recliners, which is basically the standard now but is always nice to see.)Good quality food(something that can ruin most dine-ins, this one gets this part done right!)Welcoming and friendly staff and a clean environment (surprisingly not all theatres have the best staff, let alone have a clean environment..)And to me the most important and defining trait about this theatre is its no tolerance policy on phones and noise!! Its strange(and sad..) how the human aspect of going to a movie theatre is the one that ruins it all more than anything else, so if youre tired of people who cant help but vomit any thought flowing from their heads or being blinded by those too distracted by the tiny screens they keep in their pockets to even bother to look up at the thing they paid $15 to look at!! Well boy is this the place for you! This place has a two strike policy; meaning if youre annoying enough to the point where people have to call you out TWICE, youre kicked out of the theatre, and no refunds either. Who would have thought that one simple rule is enough to keep the theatre experience from being ruined by others.I do apologise for all these run on sentences, this is a topic that I hold very strong opinions on.But to summarize this review, if youre an avid movie goer or just a person who enjoys good theatre going experiences. For the price, I dont think theres a better place to go except here..
Full bar and restaurant service at your seats without being super overpriced (Im looking at you iPic theaters). The place has a great vibe and they have fun movie screenings but the best part is their no cellphone and talking policy. They kick you out if you violate it which is exactly how it should be!
Great date place, excellent popcorn! Good service. Quality food selection. A bit pricey but on par with all the dine in theaters around LA. First time I have encountered unisex bathrooms. (One ding for no toilet seat covers, though!)
This is a place for people who love movies. Tickets are $17.50 per head, but you get a reclining chair in a small auditorium with seatside service for food and drinks! Everyone who works here was friendly and attentive. Great experience for a night at the cinema.
This was my first time here and boy was i impressed. The service was great, the food delicious, and the seating comfortable. Thanks Bobby Payne for turning me on to a great place. I will definitely go again.
Great Experience!. This is a unique, fun, artistic little theater with very comfortable seats. You can order food, drinks, alcohol (dinner theater), and prices are very fair as well. There is a bar on the first level with tables and chairs, good for small groups. There are free board games, free movie rental as well!. Definitely going back!
This place is amazing! Heard about it from Jensen on Kroq and let me tell you it didnt disappoint. We saw the joker but we had fun drinking and playing their games. They have a wonderful selection of old movies and Ill try and see them all. Im excited to learn more about services that they offer.
Bathroom situation is rough if youre in the further theatres (8 or 9). food and drinks are reasonable priced. love the vibe and location!
Unique selection of indie films matched with large, comfortable seating and an extensive menu. Includes rowdy screenings and Tuesday matinees for kids. A fabulous place to watch movies.
Such a great movie-going experience! Perfect for a date night! A server will get your order and deliver your meals and drinks directly to your seat. Very comfortable chairs that recline that make watching the movie so much better!
Great place for movie goers who hate people who talk and use their phones during the movies. I enjoyed the area outside the theater making it a great place to hang out while waiting. Staff are nice and food is delicious
Arclight prices with better seats - reclining with two tiny power buttons on the side of the armrest. Strange interior design - looks like amateur time.Other than the reclining seats (which are really good), the rest is just weird. Strange lobby like a mini General Store, a waiter who came up behind me after I got seated - startled me a bit asking if I wanted to order anything from the menu (it was sitting on a shelf under the mini table jutting out from the armrest). How do I call him if I want something during the show - elevate a piece of paper in the small box attached on the top of the mini table. How does he spot these in the dark - is he roaming every theater constantly? (an electronic way to call for him might be good for guest and waiter)Then of all the Pay-with-your-phone services they support at the ticket counter - Samsung Pay only. LIke I said weird - no Apple or Google Pay - yes you can still use your credit card.
Love Alamo. The layout is more cramped than their San Francisco location but it has a lot of spirit. Staff are friendly and it’s nice to be able to walk in and sit down no fuss.Parking is available in the Bloc, don’t forget to get validation at the front desk before leaving. Cinema is accessible from the parking garage in an elevator separate from the main ones. Look for the signs
I’ll give it 2 stars because, though the movie watching went smoothly without a problem, there was NO security. When we went into the theaters section there was nobody at the entrance to check our tickets/ make sure those that were supposed to be there were those that were walking into the theaters. Even when we took our seats in our theater, nobody checked our tickets. We could have not paid for them and it would have made no difference if we found empty chairs. It’s a bit nerve wrecking to think that anybody could just walk into the theaters section without being checked. Especially being in downtown LA. Though they had security guards, there would be nothing they could do if dangerous people are already inside. This business needs to invest in front of house employees to check tickets and make sure they are only letting in those who have tickets. They have gender neutral bathrooms as well, so it’s just not safe for anybody. Aside from that- the food was good, staff was friendly, and watching the movie went well.
Our first time here and we absolutely LOVED IT!!!! the whole atmosphere is so chill, the free boardgames at the bar, arcades and merch is the Cherry on top!!! Customer service? 5 stars! Food?? Delicious!!!! Reclining and Reserved seating make the experience much better ....and they validate your ticket. It is a bit pricey but its definitely worth it.
Amazing retro hipster vibe. Full bar with seating and shop for unique knick knacks. They have a full menu to serve before and during the movies in the theaters. Reclining seats. An amazing experience!
I love this place I would definitely go back, friendly and fast service, variety of cocktails, snacks and great food
This place is AMAZING. Its got such a cool throwback feel. Come early and enjoy the free table games and arcade games. Go into the movie theater 30 min before your showing so you can order your food and drinks first! Enjoy the vintage cartoons while you wait.
It was really great, the Margaritas and burgers are really good the bottomless butter so fresh... definitely gonna be back for many more premieres, highly recommend if you want to drink and have some good food while watching a movie
I first experienced Alamo in NYC and loved it, so my girlfriend and I had to try it out in DTLA. We went to go see Ad Astra so here’s my review:The pros:1. The service was really attentive2. Super close to the metro so not having to drive & park was a plus3. The interior is quirky, filled with old and obscure movie posters and something you only find at Alamo.4. Booking seats through the mobile app is quick & easy, highly suggest downloading it5. If you prebooked your tickets, no need to scan your ticket at the door. you go straight to the theatre and take your assigned seats. Only at that time does the server verify your tickets6. The variety of the menu seems awesome. Even though i wasnt a fan of the food I ordered (see below), I do want to try some of the other things on the menu next time. The cons:1. The food was so-so. I ordered the hot wings which were sub-par (barely any edible meat on them). My girlfriend ordered the beer-bacoa queso and loved it. We split the cookio trio / chocolate chip cookies and I wasn’t a fan.2. The seats didn’t recline back, which actually made it a bit uncomfortable when only the leg portion raised
The best movie theater I have been too. Saw the star wars last week and during the middle of the movie someone pulled fire alarm in the shopping center. The stuff responded quickly to assure us nothing serious was wrong and that it was a false alarm. Great customer services and amazing food selection.
Honestly, the best movie theater I have ever been to.My husband and I had an early flight and a lot of time to spare before our Airbnb check in so we decided to see a movie. Best. Decision. Ever.We saw Joker here. The staff was friendly, the chairs were comfy, the atmosphere was awesome. Plus, food and drinks right to your seat? You can’t beat that. I wish this place was where we live. We would probably have movie dates a lot more often.
Great service and amenities. The best way to watch a movie by far. The pre-roll featurettes are fantastic and worth the price of admission. The food is very reasonable.
I used to live in Texas, where this theater first opened. This location is wonderful! Great audio and video quality, wonderful food and service. Their events are really fun so dont just go for the movies, take advantage of their other programs!
Stupidly comfortable lounging recliners, only 50 folks to a theater, $4 downtown parking attached to the Bloc, food and drinks delivered to your seat. Great sound and projection. The food is actually good, the drinks are reasonably priced and they use top shelf liquor. Add an ecumenical selection of films, a free video store with 40k+ titles, and whats not to like?
Saw IT 2 here. This movie theater is #%$&n awesome. Cozy. The sound hits hard. Drinks are amazing, service top notch. The breaded cauliflower is killer. Even a cool little retro store inside. Yeah, this movie theater is wonderful.
An intriguing art movie house tucked in the far upper corner of the Bloc. It had a very interesting atmosphere, seatside service with a full menu and comfy seats which reclined! I deducted a star because it was tough to figure out how to get to the theater from the street. I dont know if thats really their fault but getting to my seat felt like finding my way through a maze. The seat and row numbers didnt correspond to what was on the ticket so I was kind of guessing if I was in the correct assigned seat. Its definitely worth checking out though.
It was a good experience and the service was amazing. The seats were just right. Even for a big guy, the seats were fine. The food was good and the presentation was amazing.
Alamo Drafthouse is the greatest movie theater me and my brother have ever seen. We ordered burgers and french fries while watching The Lion King (2019),the first time we came to this movie theater. And our third time we came, I have tasted Chocolate Chocolate Chocolate, a milkshake that has cinnamon spice. I will come back to watch another movie with my brother.
I really, really want to give this Alamo a good rating, but I cant. After a good first experience at this location seeing Midsommar (Ive also been to their theaters in Austin and NY), I tried seeing One Cut of the Dead on a Friday. I went for the matinee show, and after arriving 20 minutes early was told the show was canceled. No big deal I figured, its Friday, Ill come back for the 6:30 showing. Come back, 10 minutes early, ask for a ticket. Im told that its been canceled again! The times are still listed on the board, and were on the website up until showtime. Clearly staff needs to work out some kinks at this theater.
Ive heard great things about the Alamo Drafthouse from family and friends in Texas. When I was told that one would be opening up soon in downtown Los Angeles, i was very much looking forward to it. When i first arrived at this location, i was somewhat intimated by the style and decor. It was eye catching but was confused on where to go. Since i had bought tickets online, was told by one of the patrons i was free to head on in and someone would check me in once seated into the theater. I had caught a glimpse ofnwhat seemed like a bar and lounge area with a large projection screen. Looked neat and would have enjoyed a beer or two but wanted to be early to my viewing and get comfortable. Walking to the second and around corridors was amazed at the ambience of the theater and all the classic movie posters feature down the long corridors. Once I arrived at the theater room and sat down, i was greeted by a hostess and she checked us in and welcomed us for being first time attendees. She explaing the ordering process and how the service was delivered. Overall, i was impressed and enjoyed my movie theater experience here. The projection and sound quality was top notch. The leg room and comfortness of our seats was a relief from a long day of work. The selection and quality of food was very delicious. A bit pricey but overall i believe it was well worth the service. Definitely a great place to check out and i would definitely make it my go to theater.
Best place to see a movie. Great screenings of old movies, no pre-show ads, comfortable atmosphere, cool merchandise for sale and great beer selection.
Good food, great seats, and good drinks. I watched El Camino here and enjoyed every part of being in this theater. The food selection is large and many items based on movie foods. My only regret on the trip was not being able to try more food and drink. I dont watch movies much, but will think of this place when I do
Love the cinema look with food orders in the theater. Cinema design is a fusion of old theater style with the modern feel. I love walking through the hallway with large posters of 40s to 70s movies.
Best movie theatre experience Ive had in Los Angeles. Food & drinks are delicious. Love their no distraction policy for a majority of their showings.
This place is cool and different. Read the instructions and directions before you go and it will be easier. Everything is priced fairly with extra cool scenery.
Favorite place to go see a movie. They also have video Vortex where you can check out to movies a week for free! Excellence that great spot can sit Outdoors as well and enjoy the fresh air.
This is my new favorite movie theater. The ambiance, the great staff, the comfy seating, the dine in experience, the quality of sound and video. It made the movie experience as magical as it always should be. Bringing the best of the nostalgic eras to modern day advancement!
Your first time there? I recommend buying tickets online, if you drive park onsite (the BLOC) for $4 with validation, arrive early and hang out at lounge to enjoy the vibe and checkout the store, head straight to your seats 10 minutes before the movie start time ...theres no one checking tickets until you sit down, once seated someone comes over to take your order and check your tickets. Theres a small light under the table so that you can read the menu and order more food throughout the movie...just write what you want on the paper and place it at the edge on the holder standing up and a waiter will come over to take care of you. Theres one restroom inside upstairs and its for both genders, stalls are nice and private unlike most public restrooms. This theater does not skimp on anything... from the decor, service, menu options, reclining leather seats, and beer options it provides the best movie experience Ive had.
Alamo Drafthouse provides a superior movie going experience. I love their strict cell phone policy. I wish there was a location in the IE, but until they branch out, I will continue to visit the LA location about once a month.
So excited to have visited LA’s branch of the Alamo Drafthouse during the staff training weekend! Watching a movie in a new theatre is lovely but the Alamo Drafthouse was also comfortable, fun, and clean. My only complaint is that there were no toilet seat covers in the bathroom. I know most states do not have toilet seat covers and it’s not required by law here, but growing up in Los Angeles this is common to have in public toilets and it would be much appreciated to have them at the movie theatre since so many people are bound to be going in and out of the bathroom. Otherwise the staff was very welcoming and the service was as good as expected on their opening weekend. Making this my local theatre from now on!
Thanks for opening this theatre folks. It is a very good place. I will be back next time I’m in town. You have really put your hearts into it. I wish you success.
Great service from waiters. Good strong drinks, pizza was decent/good. Food was a bit on the small side so order up if you’re hungry.A great addition to the downtown area.
The Alamo Drafthouse is a very hip, interesting and very cool movie theater. I unfortunately was not able to make it to a showing during my visit, however I did eat and drink at the bar.As someone who loves film and going to the movies I was heavily entertained that it was a movie themed movie theater! The dinner menu was an old VHS tape- how cool! There was a great selection of beers on tap and very tasty as well. Delicious quinoa and vegetable salad,Cool, fun, and colorful atmosphere. Definitely a fit for a young adult crowd or older as well.Next time Ill see a movie and upgrade to 5 stars after trying the popcorn!
A movie house designed for people who really LOVE movies! Run by people who REALLY LOVE movies!! You can literally feel the difference. This is not your normal theater (meaning, good different). Im loving it, and told the owner tonight how Ive already been there twice in the 2 weeks theyve been open!!
Best cinema Ive ever been. Awesome movies screening, amazing place to hang out with your friends, most comfortable chairs ever, GREAT MENU.I love this place. Cant wait to come back.
Did not know I wanted a place like this to exist until I came here. Movie theatre, bar, arcade, blockbuster, theyve got it all. Retro vibes. A film fanatics paradise! They also have karaoke!!
Great theater with an old school feel. Did I mentioned their draft selection are amazing!
You really cant ask for much else here. They have tons of movies, great food and drink. They serve you at your chair. Got awesome merch and they validate parking in one of the pricier sections of Downtown LA. Tickets are not much more expensive than your average AMC. Really cool spot. If youre near the area and wanna watch a movie theres no excuse to not come here, you wont regret it. Best movie theatre Ive ever been to.
Such a different and cool movie theater. Definately reccomend it for the movie lovers. They often have special food based on the movies you are about to watch, which it makes it extra fun.
Love this place! Great vibe. Everyone is super nice. My favorite place to see a movie.
I was not sure about the concept but it is really cool. The food or drinks are brought to you during the movie screening but it is not intrusive ay all. I wish the backs of the seats would recline as well.
Aside from the incredible theatre quality and concept, this location is underwhelming and the prices are overwhelming. I’d recommend this only as a VERY special date night/celebration but even that seems like a stretch to me. Save a visit to the Alamo Drafthouse for when you visit Texas, in my opinion.
This place is absolutely amazing. Came here for the first time and it instantaneously became my favorite movie theater. Clean, fun, vintage, draught beers, games, friendly staff. What more could you want? ️️
Ive concluded that this theater is not the theater for me. I understand that a ton of people love this theater, including my friends, but its not my personal cup of tea.First off, it was difficult finding where to park. This theater is located in a shopping plaza/building called The Bloc, and so I had to circle a few times to find the entrance to The Bloc parking (which is $6 with theater validation, quite pricey). Once entering the parking structure, you have to drive up to level 4 up this extremely tight windy path and I got seriously motion sick and felt like it would never end.Finding the elevator to the theater was also difficult, so I think there should be just more branding and signage. There is only 1 small thing written on 1 wall of the level 4 elevator bank that told you where the theater-specific elevator is. And this elevator is the slowest elevator Ive ever encountered.Inside the theater-specific elevator, it is not specified which level to hit so I ended up going down to the first floor which spits you out to the ground level of the shopping center. Wrong. I went back in and went to 2R. There is a 2 and a 2R and its very unclear which is the theater entrance. I was further confused when I exited the elevator on 2R to enter a gift shop? No staff greeted me and it did not feel like the entrance to the theater. But, turns out, I was in the right place. The gift shop and seating area and bar area is all fine, not really my cup of tea. And the entrance to the theaters is up a big flight of escalators. Anyone can just go up these escalators, nobody acknowledges you or even checks your tickets. It was very very strange. They finally check your ticket AFTER you sit down in your seat. BTW if you buy your tickets off of Fandango you STILL have to go to the ticket-buying counter and they have to print new tickets out. Really?Inside the theater was fine. I personally dont like 80s or anything vintage so this was not my style at all. The recliner chairs sat way too low to properly utilize the little high-school classroom style tables to eat, and my feet didnt touch the floor so all of that was really annoying. What was more annoying was that you HAVE to write everything that you want to order down on the piece of paper and place it at the front of your little table. I was there early and the staff wasnt busy so I tried to order something by asking her, and she snapped at me and said I had to write it down, to which someone took my piece of paper 15 minutes later. Service was super slow. The food was distracting when you have to eat with a fork and knife in complete darkness. The man sitting next to me ordered 2 plates of chicken wings and all I smelled the entire movie was his chicken wings and his burps. It was awful. I ordered the strawberry cheesecake shake (way too sweet, tasted only like cheesecake and no strawberry, I barely drank it) and the french toast (super disappointing, it was just 2 hard pieces of regular sliced bread and some spread on top of it like toast, I barely ate any of it as well). Really disliked the food.Maybe Im not a fan of luxury theaters in general! But with the price of movie tickets costing $19.50 and my food came to $30. Super expensive and not worth it.
Fantastic cinema. Great movies, great seats, great food. Plus, they have this thing where if people talk or use their phone, they get kicked out.
Great spot! This is an awesome addition to the neighborhood. The food and drinks are above what you might expect, and the kitchen is efficient. The chairs recline, and overall a good experience.
Awesome experience...food and drinks delivered to you. Kids under a certain age are not allowed. Comfy reclining seats and great service. I will never go back to regal cinemas again. Thank you Alamo for making the movie experience a pleasure again
Free board and arcade games, awesome snacks, meals and beer selection, better previews before movies. The walls are filled with iconic pop and sub pop cultured themes, gender fluid bathrooms, comfy furniture.
A very unique movie going experience. If you think youve been to a place like this youre wrong! I dont want to post photos as thatll give the surprise away but it has very nice decor. The theatres are a good size but the menu prices add up fast. The food is quality though so no worries there. I had a pepperoni pizza, loaded f ries, and truffle and regular popcorn.
Always a great selection of films, delicious food, and awesome atmosphere
