This bar is like no other in LA (positively) and I guess I could say the same about the crowd that hangs out here. It somehow gives the vibe that youd not really expect from a dive bar in Hollywood. The bartenders here are very friendly and actually make an effort to know the regulars. The only request I would have for the bar is to add a pool table.Cant wait to visit again once the pandemic is behind us.
This place is the bees knees! Live music! Great food! Excellent cocktails! It’s my absolute go-to happy hour in LA. The whole staff is excellent! Happy hour from 5pm to 8pm! AND they just added etoufee fries! Can’t get any better. The bar it’s is a New Orleans themed saloon and every detail in the bar/restaurant is perfect!!!! When you go... ask about the haunted room ;)
This is my favorite bar in Los Angeles. Im not ashamed to admit that ive been to several bars (actually... many, many bars) and this is the bar that I consistently have an outstanding time at.Maybe its the great prices. Maybe its the fantastic staff. Maybe its the amazing tunes. Or maybe... its the magic that this little bar is imbued with inside and out. Let your hair down, the water is fine!
My friends and I were visiting for a bachelorette and had such a fun night out at this club. The reps for the night were always easy to find and made the whole night go so smooth there were never any lines. We got to visit four awesome spots, met some great people, and couldnt get over how nice everyone was. A fantastic experience!
By far the best local sushi spot in the area & quite possibly the best sushi spot that wont cost you an arm and a leg.My girlfriend and I get takeout every Friday ever since the pandemic started and we have yet to be disappointed. We used to go every 2 weeks to dine in so it is amazing that they made such a quick transition to takeout service! All the fish is fresh and high quality. If you are a fan of raw sushi, this spot will definitely not disappoint! Try the salmon roe, yellowtail belly, and red snapper. If you are more of a fan of rolls, I highly recommend the Paradise roll. By far my favorite!
Solid bar on Friday nights, was kind of pack but not hard to order some drinks. Its got a fun atmosphere and neat set up with a pool table/darts upstairs. A beer was $5 compared to $6 at most bars in the city. Theres a $10 minimum for credit card users, which might make you open a tab, but the drinks are worth it. On Wednesday its kind of relaxed and not as crowded compared to Friday nights. The social scene wasnt bad either mainly people in their twenties.
Came here for cocktails only the day after Valentines day and was not let down. Expensive at $13 a drink, but the atmosphere, quality, and flavor of the drinks were awesome. It is a nice romantic place that was fun for my girlfriend and I. Will be back again, just not for a few months. The have a set menu and dont serve food at the bar untill the weekend...
Five stars. We were able to get a table on short notice, quickly. Great ambiance. Staff is on point and extremely friendly. Recommend the braised pork entree and the roasted fig & prosciutto 1st course. Balanced cocktails and excellent wine selection. Top shelf across the board.Well be back!
I love this place! Even when its crowded there is still more than enough standing room or room outside. The bartenders are incredible. Dante Andrew and Brian are the absolute best! So accommodating and so fun!
When I go to a restaurant, I love when they have a nice bar/ lounge. This place has a great lounge downstairs with awesome bartenders. Brian is my favorite, makes killer drinks!!! The food is definitely 5 stars in my opinion. We had the risotto and fried chicken. Amazing!!!! Will definitely come back.
If you are not at Sassafras Saloon, you are not no where at all. A bar that is located in the middle of down town Los Angeles, my girl Olivia takes care of all your needs. Humble. Caring. Down to Earth. Her boss needs to give her a raise! She makes you feel like your at home. Shoutout to the bar tender David who is doing a great job with the amount of people tonight. Definitely a place to be.
Swanky upscale wine bar in downtown LA. The entire place is modeled to look like a wine cellar. Even the entrance is only a small place modeled to look like a library then you have to go downstairs where the action is.
Great ambiance but food was mediocre for the hefty price tag. We went on a semi slow Tuesday evening and the meat servers were very slow coming to the table, especially with the finer cuts of meats. We literally had to ask them for the meat. Like I said, not a bad experience but I expected more when we are dishing out almost $100 per head. Dont think I will return.
If youve lived in SF long enough, hopefully you know this is THE place for trivia within the citys limits. Its like the Michigan Stadium of Irish bars as they seem to pack 100,000 enthusiasts in there every Tuesday night without overwhelming you. Its quite remarkable. As for the bar itself - its your standard pub grub fare with everything youd expect from a locals bar and the drinks are sufficiently inexpensive. If youre lucky enough to score a parking spot just outside the bar on Clement - even better.
Super chill place to head to if you want to play a cheap game of pool that gets even cheaper during happy hour (show up as soon as they open for that though).Great selection of beers thatll have your favorites and new ones to try out. Props to the bartender Tony too for being one of the coolest bartenders Ive met so far.Definitely gonna make it out to this place more often when out with a group of friends or on a date.
This is a great Italian resturant with tons of options. After ordering at the counter, you take a number and choose your own seat, but there are generally plenty of options both inside and outside. A waiter will bring you bread and then your food when it is ready!
The Bradys warned not to touch the idol but we tried this place anyways!!!!Cool as spot to celebrate with a group of friends! It is so far away from the crowds that your can easily bring in a group of 8 and feel comfortable and get your drinks quickly. It is the typical corny tiki bar with all the decorations but the drinks are strong, tasty and reasonable. We will definitely come back!
Ive been here a few times already and I must say I love the vibes here! Great energy and awesome decorations. A bar tender here Love ena is really helpful always attentive and such a inviting personality! Big ups to this place! Found a gem here!
Randomly/spontaneously decided to check this place out when we drove past it. Pretty cool, small place. Most games are at least $0.50. Beer only bar, but I just found out through Yelp that this place has wine slushy?! WHAAAT!! I need to come back for that. Maybe if I drank one, two, or ten of those, I wouldve had more fun haha... but the popular games were usually occupied. I wish there were more arcade games that I knew.
Came to this place to watch the Dodgers game in the playoffs.. they ended up losing that night to the nationals. HOWEVER, I love the vibe and patrons of this place. You can feel everyone getting involved and watching the game. The noise level was not too loud. There was plenty of seating varying from bar seating to booths and tables.
I added one more star to this lounge because I really enjoyed my last visit. My best friend threw a small birthday celebration here. I didnt know you can reserve a table without having to buy bottles.. that was a mistake I made before.Recap of my first review: bottle service was terrible because the place isnt the right place for that. You are basically paying club bottle prices for 1/2.. maybe even 1/4 the VIP experience.
My favorite bar in the Richmond. The music can be a little loud sometimes, but if youre looking for a friendly place in the neighborhood to just relax and have a drink or two, this is the place. The patrons and bartenders are all very welcoming.
Quite generous with the hard stuff, and easy on the eyes, if you find yourself on a Tenderloin bar crawl (OK, WHEN you find yourself on a Tenderloin bar crawl), Rye is a must-stop.
Best fried chicken Ive had... in probably all time. The sauce is quite good, but what really sets it apart is the lightness. Youd never think fried and light would be used to describe the same dish, but San Tung pulls it off. How? I have no idea.
Connie and I ended up here after dinner. Place lives up to its name. Barrista was quick. Not too many tables but we managed to find a place to sit at. Big crowd that night. Not much else to say. Its a good spot to grab some drinks. My Cuba Libre did its job and got me feeling good. Street parking available. Out of our way but will return here if in the area.
Worth the hype and the dollars! We shared a number of appetizers, all of which were tremendous but the one Id write home about and would order time and time again is the CAULIFLOWER CREME BRULEE. Wow, all cauliflower should be served in this fashion.
Great service! Love the different juice selections for mimosas. Not too pricey and the food is amazing!
Steph was very friendly and provided excellent service,Recommend amazing drinksWill be back soonThank you
Described as contemporary California cuisine ~ you usually wont catch me at swanky restaurants unless Im celebrating a special occasion ~ but I came here on a very sweet exception, for work. We had a partner fly out from AZ to participate in a trade show with us, so we wanted to treat her out, and I think we chose the perfect place.
Was blown away! Loved all the beers and the vegan wings were amazing. Prices are pretty good too and loved the playlist.
Much as in The Fountain or The Time Travelers Wife, I find myself looking back temporally at a previous existence. But where there mightve been one of two beautiful Rachels, I am met instead by Paper Boy and Donkey Kong, Jr.
The few times I have been here were for after work happy hour with co-workers. The whole downstairs area is open to anyone dropping in for drinks or bar bites. The ambiance is very trendy, modern, chic, frou frou, bougie, etc...reminds me of a spot that youd hit up in the meatpacking district of NYC. You wouldnt expect this place when going down the alleyway to find the entrance.
This is the second time we have come here.. food is great! White Fish Piccata was delicious! Service is great...Doni is very Sweet and fun!
Decent food and reasonably priced food and drinks. The chicken and waffles and the chicken sliders were my favorite. Sliders are easy to share. Chic and waffles was a ton of food.Quaint atmosphere, definitely sit in the bar area and not the dining room.B+ overall
I really like the old look of the shop with dim lights, on top of that awesome drinks.
Sassafras Saloon is the kind of place that makes you repeatedly ask yourself - where am I? Am I on set? Am I having a bad dream after watching one two many episodes of West World? Am I drunk off whiskey and ginger beer and dancing to rap music?! Yes. Yes you are. Come here to get loose and have a good ole time.
As both a San Francisco native and Yelp enthusiast coming home to SF for a mini vacation.. I searched and searched for a good place for NYE weekend that my boyfriend and I could spend a great evening at.
It was really awesome and chill, cool bartenders and drinks. Very nice to hang. Then they cranked the music to 11(not in the good way). So you couldnt even talk to the person next to you. The theme and atmosphere are better than the obnoxiously loud music
I had a blast! I loved how it looked like a cozy room in your home! Drinks were great! The only thing that was missing was the live music I was told they sometimes have!
Such a cool bar! Great atmosphere. The staff was decent and they take care of the customers need.
This place is consistently great, especially during happy hour. Friendly server, good crowd and various spaces to be an introvert. Go between 5 and 8 for happy hour - four cocktail options for $8 and another four or five drafts for $6. They also have deviled eggs for $1. A solid recommend.
Such a cool bar! Great atmosphere. The staff was decent and they take care of the customers need.
I had a blast! I loved how it looked like a cozy room in your home! Drinks were great!
Very chill bar and I love to old timely look. Love coming here with friends for some good cocktails
Love this place! So atmospheric as if walking through a time machine. Vintage classy.
Went to Sassafras Saloon over the weekend and had so much fun. This bar in K-Town is nice and intimate and a great place to relax with your friends with some drinks.
Its got nothing but New Orleans drinks on the menu. No food, so eat before coming here and enjoy great atmosphere in the heart of Hollywood. I came to Los Angeles by way of New Orleans, so I stopped in here hoping it would be a home away from home. It didnt dissapoint!
They will not try to oversell you but will find the right match in terms of wine for your dinner. All in all, its one of my top three choices for bar in LA!
Amazing experience and bartender service is quick and good pricing. Also great crowd to be out
The live bands are insane! Amazing experience and bartender service is quick and good pricing. Also great crowd to be out
It is a clean restaurant/arcade/bar with a great vibe. There are two floors and many, many games. The food is pretty good, but they just got rid of the Duck Quesadilla recently and that was the best thing on the menu, but everything else is okay too.
A great place to hang out with friends. Good music, cool drinks and foods.
Wow what can I say I havent been there in about 1 year or 2 and last time in was not good, however this time it was Very Good . The staff was Friendly, nice and Helpful. The Food Was Cooked perfectly is teased Yummy . The ribs and Chicken came out again Prefect . The drinks where spot on and they kept a them coming ...
Feel like New Orleans and the manager is a fox with a great crew under her
Great drinks. Great music. Mardi gras vibes
Small inside but very popular for drinks and some food.
Im excited to come back here any time Im in Los Angeles to see whats on Sassafras Saloon. There is a fabulous vibe in this bar.
Happy hour is amazing and the vibe is always fun. Super fun to dance and drink your night away. This place is always a good time so when deciding where to go for a few drinks when we have no plans on the weekend, we need to come here more. Love it and you will too.
Im only giving this place stars because I saw a lot of amazing horn players and a Black lady with the big afro blasting and dancing from balcony when we showed up. If those guys are playing again than I would definitely go again
Its about the band and the booze. Pay no attention to faux funky attitudes.
Love the rustic saloon decor. nice staff, laidback unpretentious vibe
Really wanted to like this place and even though the New Orleans styled atmosphere is a pretty cool, the bartender put me off. It wasnt busy at all when I came with my friends. I ordered a round, and the guy basically told me I was wrong to want to ruin the nice mezcal I wanted with a ginger beer so he gave them to me both separately. Without ice. Then I ordered my wifes drink, with a lemon twist. He kept forgetting it and eventually he gave me a slice of lemon because he said thats what Id asked for, even when I told him it wasnt. Strangely he wouldnt add ice to our drinks till I put my card down and even still he didnt add any ice to one of mine. Such a strangely confrontational experience and I didnt want to make a thing of it so we went to sit somewhere away from the bar. On a side note, there was a strange high pitched noise that was subtlety driving me crazy so we left after 2 drinks. The door guy was super cool though. My first time here and I feel like this place has a lot of potential, so Ill give it another try another time.
Cool 1 of a kind New Orleans style bar/lounge with music some nites. Good upper scale drink selection & friendly bartenders.
Good spot for New Orleans style food and a good drink. The atmosphere is great. This is really a cool find!
Take an old West saloon, sprinkling some steam punk and you get this place. A long time personal favorite of mine thats absolutely worth a visit.
Great drinks. Interesting crowd but great drinks
Cool Louisiana themed bar in Hollywood. Ambiance is perfect for a cozy evening. They have a limited food menu and full bar with specialty cocktails. Some nights offer live music or tastings (RSVP through the Museum of the American Cocktail). We found free street parking right in front, although Im sure we just got lucky. Decent block for walking at night.
Drinks and service were on point. Had to dock them for not having a band or live music, like the advertise. Bartenders said they are trying to get band. Call a heads a make sure they have music if thats what youre hoping for.
Cool western saloon theme inspired bar. Drinks/bartender are good. Nice place to get a drink if you are in the area.
Beautiful atmosphere and delicious drinks
Cool wild west themed bar
This place has a great atmosphere and their drinks are delicious (although a little pricey). They also have food and AMAZING curly fries
Realy good place
Good to see Damon Wayans and his Jr for some laughs.
Take an old West saloon, sprinkling some steam punk and you get this place. A long time personal favorite of mine thats absolutely worth a visit.
ILL HAVE NO PROBLEM THERE
Fun, reasonable price and good food and drink
Looking for a good time to have some drinks with a fun atmosphere? This is the place! Just come early to avoid the lines to get in.
Came here on the third night of our speakeasy/bar-hopping trip in Hollywood and Im so thankful we did. The atmosphere here is incredible. It feels just like New Orleans! Reminds of a Pirates of the Caribbean vibe, except its a full bar with delicious cocktails and no children. Everything inside is beautiful, I loved sitting on the benches and just looking around. Truly a treasure in Los Angeles, so unique and fun. You must come see this wonderful place!
Awesome decor and great happy hour menu
Went there for new years eve and there was no cover (rare for NYE in LA) the drinks were well made and strong and the staff was friendly and fun.
A very-very nice speakeasy bar with outstanding interior and cool vibe. They even host grammy award winning musicians on Saturday night!
One of my favorite bars! Great atmosphere and sometimes live music.
They had a brass band playing from the balcony! Good selection of drinks and good vibes
I wish the bar tenders were nicer otherwise a very unique experience. Strongly recommend.
Cool pub. Play silent films on the wall and have homemade root beer (sassafras that is haha)
Good place to hang around for a few hours. Trendy crowd with live music and most importantly, with lots of different types of cocktails. Even though the place looks less bright with candle lighting, the old contemporary looks is what you appreciate. We enjoyed a lot in there.
Love this place. Its like being transported back in time to the coolest bar in New Orleans. JUST GO
Best nightspot in Hollywood. Great music stiff drinks. A+!
Great live music! This was a fun stop while I was visiting LA
This place is so awesome and unique! Been there for a lot of events and its a great place! The drinks are strong, the music is great and they have lots of room to sit and chill. The bottles all over the ceiling are super cool! Great date place too!
Recommend the old fashioned. Friendly, knowledgeable bartenders. Exactly what you should expect from a NOLA inspired cocktail bar.
Great Bar Staff, creative drinks, and nice ambiance. Definitely going back.
Fun, fun. This place was PACKED almost no room to dance. But fun people and everyone was in a great mood and the decor was cute. Very vintage looking. And a nice mix of old school music.
