I went in with very low expectations, but boy was I surprised. First off, the service was fantastic; everyone was so nice & accommodating, especially with my mom who is on a medically restricted diet. The food was really good: everyone at our table loved their meal and finished everything. The wine menu was decent.
The brunch was $50 w/tip & tax per person. And, we received it for $35 because the food was cold and was not pleasant. The shrimp & grits had no flavor/seasoning. The cocktails were decent in strength. The reason even for a 2 star is that the ambiance was nice and the service. But, other than that I would not have been able to rate them with a star.
We had brunch here over the weekend and it was amazing. The service was a little slow and no one greeted us for about 10 minutes at our table but the food was so good it made up for it. The owner mike took our order and recommended the French toast so I went with that. You have to try this French toast. Its like the softest piece of bread ever (I think it was sourdough) and the sasauge was also good. Didnt try the salmon eggs Benedict but my friend seemed to like it. Oh - I also tried the pancakes and they were pretty tasty too. So happy to have found a nearby brunch spot without lines around the block!
Fantastic food. Great service. We enjoyed the smoked chicken salad sandwich, meatloaf, beet salad and the beef dip - the last few times weve been for dinner. They do only serve beer - so if you want a glass of wine or to bring your own wine, you cant. The patio is so nice but would be so much nicer with a glass of rose....with that chicken salad sandwich...
My first time here and everything was excellent. Live jazz, I loved it. The food was supreme. The personnel were inviting and professional starting with curbside valet parking, they helped us take pictures and were very friendly. The staff on the inside took over from there, courteous and helpful. They go out of their way to make you feel special. The live music was top notch. This was a very memorable evening. Thank you Pips On Labrea!
This is a very classy wine and beer lounge in the downtown area. Its in the little plaza that you walk through on the way to the old MOMA location.
Listening to smooth jazz by The David Leech Trio while sipping on a Tom Collins or an Amaretto sour. Enjoying time with the family- who could ask for more? Our foursome ordered a meal of, whitefish, lobster, steak and a rack of lamb for one of our few remaining evenings in LA. The David Leech Trio played all my favorites. It was lovely.Ill tell my friends and return the next time Im in town.
Pips did an outstanding job making my friends birthday special. Our reservations were confirmed and I had numerous questions which they replied in a timely manner. I was extremely pleased and impressed with the care and thoughtful gestures. Our service was exceptional and food was delicious!! Thank you Pips for having us. We will be seeing you again very soon!!
Had a awesome time. Great place to ride into if your on your Harley. And listen to some good music.

Beautiful ambiance & city views but way too over priced and very rude staff! Hire friendly and professional employees and then youll get better reviews.
Comfortable, breezy outdoor patio eating. Great entertainment, delicious, refreshing beverages, ample appetizer platters, Sunday brunch with flowing Mimosas. Good fun, dancing space, grooves from rock to blues, R&B and jazz!
Black owned restaurant, bar & jazz club. Very quaint, with nice patio seating. All staff are very friendly & helpful. Great Sunday brunch for $39 each.
Atmosphere. Amazing cuisine. Stephen the Bartender and Chef extraordinaire. The outside patio is amazing and brings in patrons from all walks of life with a common love for jazz, a friendly crowd and attentive staff. Valet parking is available. Come meet the owner. His warm smile will make you a regular.
Very cozy place for a (Sun)Branch./Dinner....watch Sports &Babara Morris on (Tues) for Birthday Celebrations. Thank You Steve Bartender...DELICIOUS Martini
Fun atmosphere... great live music. Food is tasty too. I love Friday nights. Great for a Girls night out... or a nice date.
Fantastic food, great service and stunning atmosphere!
Entertainment was, I guess entertaining. Small and intimate atmosphere. Called prior to going inquiring about non-alcoholic beer, which they stated they had and went as soon as they open and they were out. Kinda pricey, but overall I can see myself going again
We came when they were preparing for 2 large parties & Band set up. So, staff were a little distracted. I will NOT recommend Lasagna! Ground beef & mixed vegetables ( corn, peas broccoli?) No flavor & strange texture.
Thoroughly enjoyed our experience for Sunday Brunch! Spotlight on the service, led by our server Ariel. She was attentive, personable, helpful, and knowledgeable. Suggestions were on point, service was outstanding. The meals were all tasty and filling. Perfect Sunday Afternoon!
Best food, welcoming employees, constantly great vibes. They charge reasonable prices and the food quality is awesome. I recommend this place.
The rack of lamb was delicious! Live entertainment was a soulful mix of 70s Marvin Gaye to Stevie Wonder hits. And yes, Mr. Stevie Wonder made a surprise visit.
This was my first time at Pips an l loved it! The atmosphere was hyped! The crowd was friendly, the live entertainment was the Bomb!!! The food was excellent. I would recommend this place to everyone its live! I love the fact that its Black Owned an l a big supporter of Black own businesses. Please check this place out an the drinks are awsome!
Beautiful ambiance I mean it was like MAGICAL. They give good portion sizes and the food is reasonably priced. Its tight in there though so make sure you make a reservation in advance. Great for datenight and it is NOT FOR KIDS
A little small. Its cozy. Nice patio area. Food was good. The chicken anpanas were delicious. Little pricey. Live jazz. I will be back!
Love this place! Went there for a little get together for a friends birthday and she got to sing with the great Barbara Morrison! The food is okay but the ambience is fantastic! If you love jazz and blues, this is the place to go for it! Note: they charge an entertainment fee and 18% gratuity is included in check. Not sure if the fee was for general entertainment or because we brought our own birthday cake and asked for plates. All in all, they are very accommodating and I had a great time!
It was nice quaint spot with great drinks and nice music and they have a nice little Patio with a bar outside and trees and table and chairs!
Maybe a better method of fresher food.. but nice people and ambiance
Interesting little bar. Its specialities- digestifs. Amaro and Fernet, all kinds of, literally. Smells and feels like an herbal garden, friendly agreeable crowd, music is loud but tasteful. Bartenders are friendly, they do take their time, its not the place to get hammered in succession, nor a sleazy pick up joint, feels more like a low-down hangout neighborhood joint. Like.
The most amazing place I have found in LA in years. The ambiance quaint and original. The owner charming and hands on. The patrons friendly and welcoming. The drinks reasonably priced. The staff accommodating. The cheese cake to die for. Even the bathroom tile was beautiful. I thoroughly enjoyed myself to the fullest. A++++, 10/10, 5 stars. Can not encourage you enough to check this jazz club out. Thanks guys for a truly amazing night.
Good food. Great oldies show on Tuesday. Dancing!
Had a great time last night (Friday, 2-1-2019.)Made reservations. Pips was packed and a happy, lively crowd! Felt good! Comfortable! Staff, helpful. Mia, Lead Greeter, very accommodating. A problem solver. The owners, Another problem solver. Rating A. One draw back. As I stated, I made reservations for 2 on the voice mail. Upon arrival, no reservations! Hint: Call after 5 PM to make reservations. Additionally, go on line to make reservation!! Entertainment: A+. Food and Entertainment make Pips a go to place, a destination in Los Angeles. Go!! Why; Don Owens said it is a GO!!!!
Great music, great people more mature crowd. The owner down to earth.. Our spot now when in Killa Cali!
I visited Pips to attend a b-day celebration . I had no idea there was live jazz there also. I honestly enjoyed everything. The service wad was incredibly attentive, the food was delicious and the musicians presented some fine jazz standards as well as original pieces. Its an intimate and warm atmosphere, just perfect for small party or simply two. The drinks were well prepared also. Simply put, Im going back!
The food & drinks were good & reasonable. The entertainment was excellent.
I really like it there. I had so much fun. With friends and family. I would recommend that if your in the area you would put stopping at pips on labrea and pico on your to do list.
Wonderful vibe. Great bartender. Band could be a littleore upbeat
The place was relaxing and the food was delicious and the jazz band wasright
Me and my husband had a WONDERFUL time on 10/10/19 Friday night at Pip On Labrea we enjoyed the music we tipped the musicians all night to sing & play several songs and those REMYTINI COCKTAILS are thee BEST I was tipsy feeling myself and lets not forget about those BEEF EMPANADAS make sure you order them my husband and I had 3 orders of them mmmmGOOD. Oh what a FABULOUS night we had our waiter was on point with our food and drinks and just making sure we were okay and we did not have reservations but the young later later fit us right on in and we had a good table so I give five them 5 stars hands down we were very pleased and recommend anyone to come to PIPS ON LABREA and have a good time . WE WILL BE BACK AGAIN
It was my Birthday Party, I had 15 people that came, we all ordered food and drinks and all said there food was great, and there Jazz band was awesome, great food, great service, great Jazz.
Was looking for a restroom in the area and decided to stop in for a drink, I ended up staying for 3 hours, the staff was incredibly nice and the drinks were amazing. The atmosphere outside is just priceless.
We loved the ambiance, the awesome jazz band, good hot wings and great drinks.
Mr. Robinson can sing! Had a great time with friends. Good vibes.
Live entertainment is great. A bit crowded but other than that its a cool little spot with great atmosphere.
Great place and great service!
The entrance was full of trash, they should sweep and ensure the front is presentable and clean. The food was ok however, sitting outside among the flies and crawling critters was a hassle. We had to swat at flies to keep them off of our food and it was not the best outdoor experience for us ESPECIALLY since it was our first time. The only PLUS was that the service was excellent.
Great atmosphere.and ambiance. Was great. Music was good. I had a great time.
Ok place and music was great, but ownership sucks. We had something fall from a tree or the parking structure onto our table on the patio. One of our guests was cut by glass, food was ruined and drinks (including a botte of champagne) was all ruined due to glass shards going ever. The owner did not come over to check the wellbeing of anyone until we made a big deal out of it. He was arrogant and dismissive not to mention expected payment for the ruined food and drinks. Ok place, but very poor ownership and management. Id never go back.
Love It! BEAUTIFUL ATMOSPHERE! FOOD IS DELICIOUS! DRINKS ARE GOOD..
Very good service excellent place to enjoy a evening of Jazz and good food.
Omg we love love this place with there live music band. Great music service and food. We cant wait to visit here again real soon
Great atmosphere.and ambiance. Was great. Music was good. I had a great time.
The food is good and the music is great
My first time. Okay, not impressed. Staff nice, but neglectful, but it was free admittance. Dont want to trash it. Really nice, but small. Intimate, young and hip. Guess I was expecting more. Would probably go back
Super Great music just need to charge a cover at the door if your not buying dinner. The music is to good and the drink are strong.
Pips On Labrea vibes is awesome! Love the staffs and the music
Disappointed first brunch hot food was cold mens restroom had urimic order. This place needs a makeover staff is nice and over priced.
Nice music,. Nice buffet brunch and very service
Dined alone however, the check did not reflect that... Still, I returned for the cozy ambiance & more live music. Was treated to a performance by Barbara Morrison herself *definitely worth it!
Great live jazz and outdoors patio.
Like the flyer says...its one of the best places to see live jazz, blues and r & b. Tuesday nights...youll see legendary jazz singers like Barbara Morrison. Im told the salmon croquettes were the best ever had. I cant speak on the food as I was full from earlier eats but any place that has gumbo, Red Stripe beer and tiramisu on the menu has to be all good. The atmosphere reminds me of the juke joints in Oakland once upon a time. Fun music loving diverse group of attendees. Everyones welcomed. You can see and hear the band from the star lit patio. The drinks are average but priced accordingly. No cover and 10 percent is added to the bill to help pay the legendary performers. Stop being a cheap scape homebody and get out and listen to some great music!! Yesssss!!
The owner came to greet us at the table. The food and service were wonderful!
I havent been here in a long time and I dont think I will be back. When we walked in no one greeted us which is still an important part of any business that should not be overlooked. The service although friendly was slow, it took 5 mins before someone seated us and another 10 mins before someone came over to greet our table. I had the salmon lasagna which was just ok and it was cold in the middle. My friend had the spicy cajun spaghetti which was not spicy at all. The drinks are watery and overpriced. We actually left and went down the street to get better drinks. I love supporting our local businesses but this place leaves a lot to be desired.
Beautiful cozy restuarant with nice music and great tasting food. Pips On Labrea service is fantastic!
Sunday Brunch was Good nice place service good drinks
Wonderful!I listened to Debbie Joyce singing at Pips. What an amazing band! The people are kind. The acoustics are amazing!
Had brunch this afternoon, unfortunately live jazz as advertised, turned out to be a DJ, at least ten menu items were omitted . San Gria without fruit, a missing touch to show some effort was made. Food was average. Too pricey for limited selection of food and a DJ.
Great music. Menu needs improvement. Great servers
We were there for a birthday celebration. Had a great time with my friends once the DJ got started. Nice atmosphere.
Went to dinner with my family here and I really enjoyed it
Very nice place. My daughters boyfriend found us this place and read the reviews as a great place to bring me, from Sacramento, and his mother. The owner came out and introduced himself-says a lot about his place. Great jazz music! Food was good, food choices varied but loved the bread pudding!
Old school celebrity spot. I saw 2 people whom I hadnt seen in years.Celebrities included two Lakers from the 80s, RnB music producer, Actress Angie Bloom and the Price is Right Lady from the 80s.Awesome evening.
Get place to hang out, plentiful food and great jazz.
Great place to chill out to jazz
Cool, friendly people, great music. food is pretty good, but that’s not why we go there.
Very nice place. Cozy and with a great live band. Valet parking. Pretty good food. An indoor and outdoor seating area. Valet parking. Tues-Thurs, 5-7, happy hour.Worth checking out!
The return of class and jazz.
Good ambience, good music, and the food is amazing
Great food, service, and entertainment. If you are in LA its a must visit
Nice atmosphere! Great food. Great service and best of all the music is amazing! Must go once if u like jazz!
Bad customer service and tired bartenders I wont ever go back to this place
Ive been to Pips on three occasions now. Its honestly one of the last places in LA that still gives you a bang for your buck. The live music is first and foremost the thing that sets Pips apart. On any given night you can hear the greats alongside the up-and-comers. NOTE: the guests who come to Pips take their music seriously. If you have a large group, and want to talk during dinner, I recommend sitting on the patio outside, to avoid a stern reprimand. On that note, the patio is definitely the most beautiful place to sit. You will dine beneath twinkling lights, and they also have outdoor heat lamps, on the nights is brisk. Call ahead to reserve the upper patio for the best view ;) As I mentioned, Pips one of the last remaining places in LA that won’t gauge you on drinks. They have a decent wine selection, with several under $10/glass and heavy pours! (I am a bit of a klutz and spilled my glass, and they even replaced it for free without my even asking.) As for food, the prices are fair, and while its mostly standard dishes, they wont be over-charging you for a meal. Some seafood, some pasta, a mix of everything, as I recall. The service is very good while you are eating, and they will allow you to stay and listen to the music after your table is done. On one occasion, it took 20mim to get our check, so if youre in a hurry, be assertive! All in all, Pips is absolutely worth going to!!
I had a 7pm reservation on a Tuesday. Nice crowd and the band had a nice groove. It was birthday night for celebrating for the morning th of November. I had a great evening!
Absolutely love this place. Great food, service and atmosphere!! Thanks Pips!
The food was delicious and the service was prompt. They had two different bands playing during the night. Overall it was a positive dining experience.
Excellent music, Classy people. Definitely doing this again
Great spot for a dinner with friends or just a night out on the town. The owner was friendly and attentive as were the rest of the workers. Definitely going back
We had a Great Couple of Birthdays there
Pips on La Brea what a gem, great place to have drinks, dinner and live music without breaking the bank. The staff is very attentive and personable. I ordered the fresh salmon lasagna with alfredo sauce. it was cook to perfection delicious. I gave it 5 stars.
Wonderful brunch. Chef should be on site all day. Good service crew. Minor concerns, but that comes with eating outdoors. The Jazz man was superb, enjoyed him immensely.
Great food, good music. Crowd on a Saturday night. You need a reservation.
Love Barbara Morrison! Great bar and great community.
