Wow its a big place which unfortunately we were not prepared to fully enjoy with our lightweight jackets and thin pants...but nonetheless the drove around it made us aware of how close and accessible it is to us. A must return to enjoy kind of place.

A great park! Highlight of Longmont where bald eagles are often spotted in the trees and prairie dogs inhabit the fields. A 3.3 mile walk around McIntosh Lake can begin from here, and is a must for any first time visitor to the Boulder County area. The lake walk is a local favorite that many people do daily or weekly. The Dawson Park itself contains kids play equipment and further down the path, dont miss the iconic statue with Longs Peak as a backdrop. The area is gorgeous in all seasons!

Peaceful place to walk, run, kayak or enjoy the park. Great views of the mountains. Once no motor boats are allowed on the water you have nice smooth water to kayak. The lake has several places to launch and picnic tables to eat. A few restrooms are available.

Great park in one of the most beautiful place in Longmont. The playground has a pirate ship kind of structure, a few swings, including one for disabled children and two for babies. Theres also a structure for older children. They also have a sand box. Its very nice to combine with a walk around the lake. Its very unfortunate that it has no shade though, they should pant a few trees...

Great park with a foam play area that stays dry and mud-free in winter. The only drawback is people who dont clean up after their dogs. Watch where you walk on the grass, especially near the street or walkways!

Macintosh Lake has a number of attractions, but Dawson park is great for kids. It would be a really good park for families with several children, because they have a ton of big kid climbing equipment and a sandbox for little ones. They also have a swing for special needs children, which is great! The pirate ship is fine for supervised play with younger children.
