What a great park. There is a small playground for younger children to play next to the parking lot. It is a short walk, under the train tracks, to the entrance to the beach. There is a bench to sit to take off/put on your shoes. The walk, over the dunes, to the beach is a moderate walk if you arent used to walking in sand. You might want to stay closer to the water on the right, as the sand is more compacted and easier to walk on. Once you get to the beach you are in for a great time. Kenty of room and its all sand, no rocks. Enjoy the feeling of sand between your toes and the smell of the ocean.
The beach at the park used to be fenced off. Now, the fence has been opened and there is access to the beach. My daughter and I have been going almost every day! There is tons of sea shells and the beach is beautiful!
My favorite beach. It’s a hike over the dunes and closed through the summer but when you do go it’s beautiful
Beautiful estuary. Nice hiking, but no bike routes. Unfortunately no swimming or boating allowed.
A jewel of the Central Coast, never crowded, freshest air in the world.
I love this beach. Came here as a kid. Recently went to celebrate a memorial. It was beautiful and clean.
Cool but closed and dont lose your phone because you will never see it again...one of the only places to go in Lompoc...its limited but its close to home
I went early Sunday. The magnificent views of the Pacific Ocean are one of a kind. There is plenty of parking and lots of tables with barbecued grills.
It was taped off because of covid. We could drive down to the parking lot and walk just to the water and just past the bridge - which is a train track which desperately needs an inspection from a certified engineer- but no beach access.
It is a wonderful bird preserve. PlansBy lompocs politicos to open the estuaryTo boating Will make this a one star.Have you seen how Lompoc looks? Omg
The beach is closed during the only time of year that its actually desirable to go, someone kill the plovers please.
Nice park to have a picnic.
Lots of stickers so wear shoes in the sand.
Great local park. Picnic area with BBQs. Great nature postings on bird, animal area ecology. Do not miss beach access but please follow posted directions on protected areas.
Absolute hidden jewel! Shhhhh! Peaceful, lots of wildlife. Restrooms, play ground, BBQ pits.
Really relaxing and enjoyable
The estuary looks like a good place to kayak. Some wind. The surf breaking on the sand dunes blocking the estuary is spectacular. Boom, big splash.
Free access, tide pools, lovely ocean
Great for the family and amazing view
Nice place to relax
Super fun with a nice chill in the air
Awesome place for a sunset. Im from Florida and ist a nice different kind of beach to visit
Very quiet and secluded.
Local beach way cooler then surf. Always windy and good place to take a kite and doggos
Nice breezy day.
Although its closed most of the year, its still a beautiful sight to see. Very peaceful and refreshing.
Nice and clean area for an outdoor lunch. The two speed bumps almost destroy the peacefulness of the place, but I suppose without them, somone would act up.
Its always so beautiful out here!
It is always peaceful and calming
Surf used to be louder. Sucks you cant fish anymore and you are limited to the beach and surrounding dunes because of the snowy plover which is a protected species. Did like the parking area and the types of habitat surrounding the swamp area. The walkway is beautifully designed.
Love taking Miss Molly to the beach, we always have fun.
Beautiful views, clean wonderful smelling air, and plenty of information on local wildlife. Theres even a bathroom and a play area for the little ones!!
Dont fish here. We sure got a ticket today. Dont turst the Rangers they want you to get a ticket $130. And if you have fish $$$$$$
We were promised fields of blossoming wild flowers, and travelled hours just to find jack squat. Otherwise, its a park by the ocean with little distinction. I suppose its a nice place to spend an afternoon to relax, listen to the surf, and do some birdwatching. Thats about it.
Worth the trek out Ocean Ave if you are in the area. The sand dunes along the beach are definitely worth exploring. Be aware, the plover nest along the dunes making the beach side of the park off limits in spring and summer.
Its nice that its open.
So nice and relaxing. It was windy but it wasa beautiful view. Cant wait to go back.
Great place to relax and kick back.
Beautiful views and a true hidden gem!
Beautiful and a great spot to watch local wildlife. Road in is narrow so advise driving slow...nowhere to pull over. Also, high tide blocks access under the railroad bridge to the beach side.
A beautiful place to take your family and bbq and have fun with your kids
Love this place to take the dogs
A beautiful beach and park
The park itself is kind of quaint. Small, with a playground suitable for toddlers to maybe 7 years. The birds and squirrels are pests; they are bold and will approach to steal your food. Picnic tables and bathrooms available. The beach access is a total joke...about 100 sf sand only. Very cool to watch trains pass through.
Beautiful!
Nice place to visit and cool off during a hot day in Lompoc
Is close no fun
Come and get in touch with nature. A must visit place if you are by Lompoc CA area.
New and improved....Bird watchers observation deck.Enjoy the local wildlife from an observation deck located in the parking lot area.Visit the memorial bench for Rocky Candell located on the beach side of Ocean Park. Just under the bridge overlooking the beautiful coastline.
A nice place to have a picnic. Birdwatching, charcoal grills, tables, bathrooms, and running water. Unfortunately theres no beach access.
This little park is a great place for a rest and for watching the surf. Beach access is restricted during snowy plover season which sucks but there are still picnic tables and BBQs for gatherings. Theres also a nice little boardwalk to look out over the river.
Beautiful sunset
Lots of birds and ducks to see but due to military base the ocean part was closed that was the worst part. Kids area to play, benches and a bbq areas was nice
Beautiful
Loved it. Nice and fun for small kids.
Loved it
Beautiful place to visit
3 star because the accessible beach area is very limited from March 1 through September 30.
If it wasnt closed so much, it is a natural wonder. Especially the other side of the Santa Ynez River. Because the snowy plover is endangered, the government closes major portions of the beaches to protect their nesting season. Between March and September.
Little unkept but nice spot to relax away from people also the beach was closed.
Beautiful views. Restrooms at the train station parking lot. Stroll on surf beach or in the park.
Small, but unique!
Park for the kids, rest rooms, beautiful scenery, and a variety of things to take pictures of
Free Public telescopes, informative posts, quiet, meditative, playground for the kids, BBQing for the family, clean restrooms and beautiful sunsets on the beach alone blessing my awareness of God or with my sweetheart wife Love it
Very serene beach/park. It has a slight creepy feel due to its isolation and some of the graphitti, but it has its own beauty.
Surprisingly I like this park. Restrooms are maintained, clean. I dont mind coming here at all.
Free access to park, on the way to Surf Beach
My year and a half old loved the play area. Bring charcoal for burgers!
It was a beautiful sunny day. A wonderful place to visit..
Love this Park it is so nice and natural with animals in there normal habitat.
This was so quiet and beautiful, great for family fun. Squirrels will eat food right from your hand
Nice view of nature
Beautiful area, nice place to have a picnic or grill.
Interesting place to have a picnic, not sure how to get to the beach.
Cant beat the solitude.
Open from 8 to sunset!! Very well kept. Is a nice little walk, sad that the beach is closed but the view is nice and peaceful. Lots of birds! The little park and i mean little for the kids is quite cute. It seemed like there are trying to plant some flowers and make it more appealing. Also some picnic tables tuck in from the wind. I did have a nice short walk with my dog.
Their was tar everywhere. It got all over us
Park is very beautiful and theres a lot of beautiful birds. So beautiful and relaxing.
Nice place to relax
Beautiful day for a picnic today!
I live in lompoc and am so tired of surf beach always being closed. Went there today, Aug 2018 and again it was closed. Why are we even allowed to drive out there and not know its closed. Maybe post a sign at V and Ocen letting ppl know.
Go sometime but that this point you cant go down to the beach because of an endanger to the wild life occurring at this time, beach closed till September, no fun in that!
A good place to go for fishing... if they allowed it. Caught 2 big perch off the beach and had them for lunch, yumm. after eating the rangers and air base people showed up and told us its illegal to fish there. something to do with air base regulations and chances of catching bull sharks apparently, didnt get a ticket though. All in all it was a good trip but if youre fishing prepare to be bothered, license or not.
Beautiful view
