Beautiful campground, picnic and hiking spot. There are lots of picnic tables and shelters, plus a big bonfire pit. A nice bridge connects to an island you can explore. Great nature spot to take the kids or pets or a date!

The park definitely is NOT kept up like it used to be! There are huge trees uprooted and down everywhere. Nothing has been picked up. You cant walk to the back and cross the river like you used to as everything is so overgrown. You cant walk on the tiered rocks by the water that is all overgrown too. Sad that its not being kept up like it used to be as everyone is outdoors these days and would enjoy walking around.

Another lovely forest preserve. Our group reserved the picnic shelter. A little pricey, but worth it because it did rain but our group could still meet. Plenty of space under the shelter (we had about 20 but more could have easily fit, they say capacity is 100, 50 during COVID).

A small taste of beautiful nature close to busy highways. An unexpected opportunity to see egrets, muskrats, deer, turtles, rare heron within a small natural setting. Special because it is unique in a suburban setting.

Great park for a quick walk...be sure to walk out on the little island.

Gorgeous walk but stay on the trail. We each had a tick on us within 2 minutes of going off the trail

This is a lovely place to explore.There is plenty of sunshine spots and plenty of shady spots. You can stay on a trail or go off into a grassy meadow. We followed a narrow path to the stream and saw fishermen actually catch a fish! There is plenty of parking, half in the shade when we were there. Porta potty available. We had a great time!

Went here for a hike with my sons boy scout troop. Everyone we encountered along the way was very nice and respectful.

Beautiful. There are turtles, egrets and blue herons set against large trees and islands. Theres a beautiful little bridge over the East branch of the DuPage River

Its not much to look at in the winter. Plus the trail gets soggy pretty easily.

I love what they have done to help restore the the habitat and preserve the natural surroundings while placing bike/waking trail that is not over intrusive to the habitat. Great job.

Love this place i grew up in this area and used these woods often for camping.

We must have picked a bad weekend. We got rain a few times, but the water didnt drain. Under good conditions, this could be a lush place. (We were in the youth campground only.)

So Well preserved

This forest preserve used to be beautiful, now its an over-grown mess. My daughter and I tried to kayak through there because I wanted to show her this beautiful forest preserve where her dad proposed to me and instead was very disappointed in what I was actually showing her. The entire streams banks used to be covered in these big gorgeous flat rocks, but now you cant even see the rocks because its so overgrown with weeds. They put in a nice iron bridge instead of the walkway. The entire stream is about a foot deep and very mossy. I was extremely saddened by what used to be a beautiful retreat and now is a true disappointment.

Great park for a picnic. It is open untill sunset however during dusk the insects are untolerable. Bug spray is a must otherwise you will be eaten alive. Has large open spaces and plenty of picnic tables in the shade and sun. The water looks nice for most of the spring and summer great for taking pictures.

Cant walk in a circle here, but it sure is a pretty place.

I live nearby and frequently walk my dog to the east branch of the dupage river off crescent. its always fairly clean with pretty nice sunsets for the area, and is home to migrating herons. the portion of the park off swift road is vastly different, a mile-ish loop (also accessible from the great western trail) thats 50/50 mowed path in restored prairie and crushed limestone path in wood. animals not allowed, but a nice hike nonetheless.

Theres not much here, which is exactly why I like it so much. One porta John, a few picnic tables, waste can and a large grassy area to picnic. Other than that its just you and the herons.

This forest preserve has wonderful fall leaves, water, and is not too populated! Perhaps my favorite in the county!
