We had an excellent time at the zoo today. My father-in-law was in town and him along with my wife and I and our daughter went and spent a couple hours and had a great time. A lot of the animals were out playing which was shocking but was really neat to see. The safari shop was closed which was a bummer. All of the eating places were closed because of covid-19 but there was a funnel cake and corn dog stand!!
Amazing places for toddlers! We loved it and hope to come back again... we saw the bold eagles getting fed... that was so cool (and little nasty but cool)Also they have a giraffe ... we didnt get that tour but got to see it from far... also a zebra! Really cool place!
The Little Rock Zoo may not be the biggest Zoo around, I can see it all in an afternoon, its quite enjoyable. I got to oggle at otters, look at lions, and peer at penguins. Thats one of the LR Zoos best attractions. There were cute signs through out (Give the graphic designer a raise), and the Zoo staff was extremely helpful. The zoo also has many social distancing measures in place, allowing all to enjoy the Zoo, while staying safe. Overall, a great experience, and a good use of an afternoon.
Great little zoo with lots to see and do. Our kids really enjoyed the new playground area with the rope bridge and slack-line balance course. The tigers and lions were also family favorites.
A modest zoo but fun and very uncrowded now. Masks required. It is safe
The LR Zoo has been part of raising our daughter since she was teeny tiny. They are taking good COVID measures; you can feel safe here. Our Zoo has never been about seeing ALL the animals that are a draw at a bigger zoo. For us, its the perfect sized park with play areas and, bonus, theres animals! The membership price is a bargain just to have an outdoor place to go whenever we like. We dont feel any pressure there. Its easy, relaxing, and fun.
Reservations are required to enter. Fairly priced. We are from out of town. Came on a Wednesday afternoon and there were maybe 15 cars in parking lot. Signs state that masks need to be worn at all time. We had no issue. But they dont enforce it at all inside the park. Everyone we ran into had their mask off their face. Made us feel a tad uncomfortable.Nice little zoo! The gorillas, chimps and orangutans were all putting on a show when we arrived. Some of the park is under construction so it made it hard to get around. If we visit Little Rock again wed be back!
Bigger zoo than I thought! There were a great variety of animals, I just wish there were more of each.COVID forced a lot of the cafés and animal shows to shut down, but luckily almost all of the exhibits are outside. They had food trucks set up that sold shaved ice, frozen lemonade, and fried dough for about $4 each.We captured great footage of the animals. Unfortunately, about 5 or 6 of the approximately 20 animals we visited were hiding, so we couldn’t see them. Will definitely go next year, hopefully without COVID ruining things.
Best adventure for me my wife an children, we had a blast an want to return over an over again, ty little Rock zoo!
My son was in summer camp at the center and loved it. Nicely kept up space and great for kids who love animals.
I was really excited about going. But for the money we paid to get in. There wasnt hardly any animals out and what few animals there were you couldnt hardly get close to them. But I guess all in all it was kind of awesome.
A lot of the exhibits were empty. The animals that were there were great! Giving it 4 stars because the new wooden playground by the front was awesome!
Great place! Love the elephants and wish the Pandemic was over so I could go back!
All the animals look miserable. It was sad. No penguins, giraffe, snake, lizard, alligator or crocs. But the barn area was full of animals. You know petting zoo animals. And NO you CANT pet them. What animals they do have are just left there. There is no animal/zookeeper bonding or playing going on. I will save my money and take my daughter to the Memphis zoo. Where she can have a REAL zoo experience!!
Staggering visitors, so we hardly ran into anyone! It was really nice to feel like we had the place to ourselves. There are not any food places open, so the only option was nachos at one stand. There were quite a few exhibits closed and not many animals out, but the animals that were out were pretty close.
Zoo was definitely doing the right measures for covid-19 but it only took us an hour and a half to go through the zoo. Didn’t see much of the animals.
Loved it! Havent been in years....areas were shut off quite a bit cause of Covid-19 but overall a great time!
We love the zoo, our family of four have been members for over a decade. They do a nice job updating the enclosures and putting enrichment items out for the animals. My biggest concern is the lack of new animals, the giraffes are gone no hippos to be seen. Not to say they never get new ones (like the Ringtails and Alpacas). It is a small zoo that is land locked, similar to the fair grounds, so they have to be attentive to figure out new exhibits. I would love to see more animals and less playground equipment personally. Still a solid 4 star for me and worth a visit especially if you have young children.
Super enjoyable. Even during the pandemic they were super safe and still an experience.
Due to COVID-19 our prices are reduced!!! Dont look for that but youll get a sad, depressing outing. Even the animals are depressed. It was not what i was expecting. A lot of empty exhibits but charging full price. I was disappointed in the Arkansas zoo. Im a veteran and that was still disappointing even with my minimal discount. What happened to understanding??? If the zoo is having a hard time staying afloat think about the people trying to take their familiies there. I hope the world gets better but Ill never visit the Arkansas zoo again even if they have free admission.
A great zoo for a smaller city. A membership is the best value if you have a kid or children or if you just really love animals. The staff is very friendly.
I love this zoo. My wife and I have been here at least 40 times throughout the last 5 years and have always had a good time!
Just returned from a visit to the Little Rock, AR zoo and I was quite impressed. The zoo is undergoing some construction (not intrusive), with improvements for the animal area and visitors. Completed areas are quite nice and it’s obvious there are additional area that will open soon, which are also creative and well thought out.Despite being hesitant to visit the zoo because of Covid, I was impressed they have done such a great job continually disinfecting all areas. Patrons of the zoo all wore masks and were thoughtful to maintain a safe distance. Worth a visit and a donation, so the zoo can continually improve itself.
I love the Zoo! I am disappointed though that there were no giraffes, the water displays were all empty inside the exhibits. And I feel you could find use for some empty spaces around the zoo. I think you have plenty of places where elephant ear plants, tulips, gladiolus and hyacinths could be planted to beautify the zoo. And feel that what water exhibits you do have need to have grass carps placed in them to help clean up some of them. And by all means more Koi fish.
All the animals look depressed, perhaps it’s because of the electric fences in every enclosure. There were almost no staff in the zoo. Maybe one or two but there were Definitely none with any of the animals. Also, state law says masks must be worn outdoors but the zoo makes you wear them inside the park even though 90% of it is outdoors. Overall, a terrible value and probably will not return.
Great zoo, open @ 11/8/2020.
Large and well maintained. Not sure why, but when we went on a Thursday in July it was mostly empty, so we didnt run into much if anyone, so the animals were active and not hiding from noise etc.The only downside is most enclosures use a chain link fence or net with not a lot of glass windows, so it makes it hard to take good photos, especially on a phone with no manual focus.
A truly wonderful resource for the community. It may not be the Bronx or San Diego Zoo, but the work the Little Rock Zoo is doing to provide activities for our region and their conservation efforts worldwide is incredible. With the growth theyve experienced over the past few years Im very excited about the bright future ahead for the Zoo and our town.
Fun times for the family, lots to see and do wish the gift shop were better though.
A little more shade wouldve made our day in the zoo more pleasant. The farm fascinated my toddler a lot but obviously no petting allowed these days. Elephants, gorillas were nice
I love the animals! There were so many out playing today and my family and I had a great time.
Cute little zoo. Loved the baby Orangutan! So cute. Kind of disappointed- a lot of animal sanctuaries were under construction.
I wouldnt go again, it was almost 80 dollars for my family of 5. You see very very few animals. Looks like the zoo is under construction or just unkept. If you do decide to go take my advice and bring water. They enforce no outside food or drinks but bring it anyway. Hide it if you have to. Nothing is open. Soda machines dont work, all inside animals habitats, all food venders, gift shop, carousel, train etc, all closed. There is no place to buy anything to drink. There were kids telling their parents they were thirsty. My kids were bored and wanted to leave.
- A lot of water supplies to refresh yourself were broken or turned off.- Seems to always have construction and (half of) the exhibits are empty because of it- a lot of shops and other areas were closed too although they say they were open according to the website or entrance.- pricey for what it is if you want to compare to the Memphis Zoo or St Louis Zoo.+ It is a zoo... Its great to be able to visit one and the people that take care of the animals.
The animals were actually out, and about. They were doing more work to the zoo though, so some paths were blocked & we had to back track to come around another way. All in all it was a great day!
Drive-in laser show was a great addition...
I’ll have to say it’s definitely improved from the last time I went. Large variety of animals that all looked clean and healthy. I would highly recommend going even tho the price is pretty steep. But if it goes to improving and upgrading I’m all for it! Our granddaughter had a BLAST!!
This is a good place to take your little kids. Not the best but way closer than memphis
The Little Rock Zoo is somewhat smaller than the better-known zoos in Memphis and St. Louis, but they have a wide variety of animal exhibits. Over the last 20 years, the Little Rock Zoo has been renovating the exhibits to provide more humane homes for its animals. Like at most zoos, prices at the gift shop and cafe are steep, but thats one of the ways that all zoos pay for their upkeep.
Lots of animals, beautiful exhibits. They are making room for more animals currently.
Need more food and water access. Me and family about died looking for a place to buy water.
Pretty good zoo with plenty of playground but the amount of construction and animals off exhibit or being moved was a bit much for something we had to make reservations for.
Very clean! Beautiful exhibits. Were able to see animals and another of them up close. Would recommend to go see.
I swear most of the animals needs pshyc referral/Anti depressant .. no joke! They are so depressed and down and barely moving, not worth it made my day down.
A complete waste of$40! MY daughter and I decided to take my granddaughter. Most of the exhibits were closed and of course they dont tell you before you spend all that money. We only saw like 6 animals and most of those were monkeys. Wow has it went down hill from what it use to be. It was like throwing money right in the trash!
This wasnt a bad zoo, but there was a lot of construction and a ton of exhibits were closed! But, I understand theyre trying to improve things. I do recommend they update their signs, there were several times we were walking around in circles trying to determine where we should be.
It was fun but a lot of the exhibits where empty or under construction. also couldnt pet the animals in tue petting zoo due to corona.
The animals were very active and appeared to be well maintained. One of the better smaller zoos I have been too.
Wish they had more animals but they take amazing care of the ones they do have and its a great place and they keep it well sanitized during this pandemic
Really great zoo
Love this zoo. Very pleasant.
Good for a small zoo. Not too expensive (except the train ride was $3/adult and lasted about 3 minutes.) Some exhibits are empty from time to time but its well laid out and additions and upgrades are in the works (May 2019.) Much better than it was a decade ago.
This is one of the best zoos Ive visited. Easy flat walk and lots of exhibits and really fairly priced compared to some. We spent a surprising amount of time in the bird aviary (same building as reptiles). We went there for our daughters Kindergarten Field Trip and had a great time. The Africa Cafe has a really cute jungle gym play area that the kids almost preferred over the animals. Go in the Spring! The weather was perfect.
Had a great time at this zoo. We went just after storms and the animals were very active. Only took one star away because several exhibits did not have animals nor signs stating that the exhibit was temporarily closed.
Nice little zoo. Takes about 3-4 hours to walk the whole thing with a 9 and 3 year old. Lots of shaded areas for talking a break in the sun. Unfortunately, while we were there quite a few of the animals either werent on display or were hiding because of the heat. There is a nice little petting area for the kids with goats and other animals to pet though.
I was actually having lunch at the park across the street. It’s always peaceful
Several exhibits are shut down. Definitely not what it use to be but good enough for small kids visiting their first zoo
Highly recommend getting a year pass if having a family because its a great place to bring kids. Always appreciate staff who show kids snakes or other animals up close. Food truck food can be a bit overpriced, but tasty - cant say the same for the cafeteria food. Kids loved the penguins, but dont get fooled by penguin parties held outside the zoo. Trust me, its no party. Anyway, the zoo is great!!
Great fun! Enjoyed Cafe Africa. Employees all nice and friendly. Farm train was fun --nice engineer! Beautiful animals.
Nice zoo with lots to see. A 4 probably because so much was unavailable at the moment.
A little zoo in a small capital city. I am sure budget is an issue, but I wish some of the enclosures were bigger. With that said, it is well kept and I am sure they are following guidelines.
I Love this zoo because of all the newer, more environmentally correct enclosures that have been built 4 each animal type. Especially love and adore the penguin enclosure. Lets U get super up close and personal with them and apparently they love it as well. They are drawn 2 their, glass window into our world as we are drawn 2 the same into theirs. Mostly clean zoo. Animals all look as happy as they could be in captivity. Dont see any signs of mistreatment or of being malnourished in any way. The price has gone up over the years, but I can see & understand the need 2 help get these animals into more natural environments as they have built/still are building. But, as a grandparent of 4, the annual price tag is awesome. Pays more than for itself in 2 visits a year. So I definately suggest joining the members of the Little Rock Zoo, 2 reap all the extra m, rewards offered 2 its members throughout the year.
I took my family to this zoo. It was a total waste of my money and time.yes they had a lot of construction going on but they also had a bunch of the animals put up for there habitat to get cleaned I guess. More than what was needed was closed up and it was due to covid 19. (They claimed). So what was to be seen.lol not much besides people working and places closed.also still full price go figure. I hope everyone read the reviews before going to this place to waste your money and time. Take it from a father that has a daughter with a rare eye disease and wants to show her the world before she is not able to see the world any longer and I made the mistake to waste her time here. To me her time to see is more important than any amount of money
Very nice zoo.. The monkey exhibits had better visibility of the monkeys than most zoos I have been to. The girlfriend normally gets a little depressed at zoos due to enclosure sizes and she mentioned that this zoo did not give her that feeling. Would certainly go again if I were in town.
We liked it but needs maintenance and more life! Like open places to buy food, drinks! Needs life besides the animals. Staff were very kind and friendly
The new path layout is great! Wish there was more animals. 6 pens were for the sloth bear it seemed.
At a time when coronavirus cases are at their highest this zoo was full of people without masks. No one bothered to enforce the mandatory masking mandate ... even when zoo staff was notified of the issue. In fact, they were allegedly told by upper management that they could not enforce this mandate.
Was there yesterday... beautiful day. . Probably half the animals werent there or enclosures werent open, so why pay full price for half of animals??? RIP off..
It was very good I sawll lots of animals that I had never seen before
There werent a lot of animals visible, due to heat, but it was well maintained and nicely laid out for social distancing.
Nice zoo... new exhibits are being added. You can spend most of the day here. Fun for all ages. Scooters are available to rent for those in need.
Seemed decent. Not all stalls were open. Could use more water fountains. Animals have decent habitats.
Gave 3 stars ONLY because of the minimalistic viewing due to Covid-19. REALLY NOT convenient for WHEELCHAIRS EITHER!
Amazing job with disinfecting, social distancing, and still keeping it fun for young and old alike. Thanks for all of your hard work.
I havent been here in some years, so since it was my Moms birthday I took her!! They have so many new exhibits and its just amazing!! We went on a day where it was chilly so we were able to see a lot of the big cats that usually dont come out unless its cooler. Will definitely be returning!!
Some things were closed down due to maintenance, but it was clean and friendly. Worth the trip and money.
Fantastic zoo! Great staff and beautiful animals! This park is easy to navigate. There is a great restaurant to eat lunch and cool off! Very kid friendly with a little kid zone, which contains slides and other play equipment. There is a train that runs through the zoo as well. The animals are close enough to see easily and take great pictures!
So much fun need a better map the map did not help us
Because of the animals they had. But super hot when I went and I went in the morning time. They need more shade for the gest.
It was a horrible experience No animals were out and the grounds looked un kept. If this zoo is going to stay operational it needs to be revamped with new ideas and plenty more animals. This is the worst that I have ever seen it before.I hate I waisted my money, time and energy on today.Hope this comment helps someone else.
The kids enjoyed the staff was nice and friendly.
It could be my fault for visiting during Carona, but we had less than stellar time. Id say a good 75% of animals we didnt even see. The few animals that we see were sad looking. I cant even blame them. It was hot with no opportunity to cool down. The only upsides were it was not busy and the staff was really. If your thinking about going Id hold off for now.
For Little Rock not being a big city (Im from San Diego where the zoo is world renowned), I am very impressed by this zoo. They are always making it better. We got the annual pass this year and it is a great value! Lots to see, clean and fun environment. The kids love it!
It was so much more exciting when the kids were smaller. The girls (now teens) thought it would be fun . Instead it turned them into Animal Activists. It broke their hearts to see all the animals distressed due to confinement. Beware of the Parrot display that youre able to walk into. One but the fire out of me. By the end of the day we were hot and cranky. Next time Ill bring the grandkids on a cooler day.
Not worth the price. Empty animal attractions, animals not out that were on exhibit, poorly manicured landscaping, weeds and over grown tree limbs. I can go on and on. Looks like a facility with poor leadership, financial decline, and no corporate sponsors. Being new to the area and avid zoo visitors we were extremely dissapointed. The leadership should visit the Memphis Zoo.
Its a really fun place for the whole family lots of animals to look at and even great food to eat, train ride also, cheep to get in
I grew up going to this zoo, because its really the only zoo in Arkansas. They have so many animals from each continent. One of their recent additions is the penguin habitat. The zoo of course seems smaller than when I was a child, but last time I went was still really enjoyable. The zoo charged only a dollar for admission on a Saturday and my whole family went for the occasion.A lot of the animals are the exact same ones that have been there my whole life. They seem to be treated fairly well for a zoo, which means a lot to me.
We enjoyed visiting the zoo with our grandbabies. Just sad that life is still weird because of the pandemic so could see all the animals.
So impressed with the updating and expansion of the Little Rock Zoo! This was our first visit in 2 years and we were not disappointed. So much for the kids to see and do, i would not waste the money at zoo cafe. We spent $33 on burgers and the food was NOT good! Not worth the money AT ALL!Everything else was amazing!
To many closed events no animals waste of money
Its a zoo lol animals are awesome
I’ve been to my fair share of zoos and this zoo is amazing!! I was so surprised going for there for the first time. They have so much there, it is very nice, and the staff is friendly. We ended up buying a season pass on our first visit. A great place to take kids of all ages in Little Rock!
Loved it. But wish it had more animals
The zoo is awesome and seems to always be renovating to make life for the animals the best as possible. One interesting thing about the Little Rock Zoo is that a lot of the animals they have are geriatric and the staff takes awesome care of them. The staff is also great about educating guests on the various animals located at the zoo and answering any questions you may have.
The zoo is wonderful. The admission prices are comparable to most zoos Ive visited. The rentals are a bit to high. Their gift shop has a nice mix of high and low cost items and even sells ice cream. The vendor stands are comparable to faire costs and have funnel cakes! Save money and buy drinks from the vending machines. This zoo is special needs friendly.
A lot of exhibits are not open right now, there werent very many animals out to see. The grass is too tall in many exhibits, makes it hard to see the animals that were out.
Great zoo in the heart of Little Rock. Love the new farm exhibit and the old standbys like the big cats and bears. Amazing to see the gorillas and fun reptiles too!
Great for family fun
We had a great day at the zoo.
