They have made a great effort to display Davidson County historic artifacts and make interesting exhibits. This museum wont keep you occupied for hours, but it will be very educational for you and your kids while you walk through! Great place to stop in while checking out the other places to visit uptown!
Its ok went while I was at the barbecue festival learned a lot about the history of barbecue in Davidson County. Been eating BBQ for years and it was a learning experience for me lot of other stuff to see to ok
Located inside the original Davidson County Courthouse on Main Street, this museum presents an in-depth history of Davidson County and its involvement in other parts of history. The staff were very friendly and helpful as well.

Very interesting place about lexington in the 1940s had no tour guide when i went. Kinda boring
Great little museum downtown, across from a coffee shop. Nice place to stop on a road trip. We saw the court room up stairs and saw nice exhibits on local history on the first floor. Staff is very welcoming.
Took two of our grandsonsWe all loved it!
The right balance of city and country living.
This was such a great place to visit. My 10 year old loved interacting with the exibits.
It was really interesting, we enjoyed it
This is by far the best small town museum. With knowledgeable staff that will answer any question you have.I stopped by while visiting family in Lexington, NC. I was more than surprised to learn about the local history, as well as how Lexington has changed the face of the nation. There are so many interesting exhibits, and absolutely unique artifacts that you would only expect in a national gallery. The building itself is a fantastic piece of history that will transport you to a bygone era. You can almost hear the footsteps of the townsfolk hurrying into a packed courtroom, as you walk past the burn marks in the hardwood floors, where men stamped out their cigarettes before entering the room.I will absolutely recommend this museum to everyone passing through Lexington, or even to the locals that live in this “diamond in the rough” town. I myself stop by every time I’m in town, and always discover something new. This is a perfect outing and best part it’s free.
A lot of history in Davidson County and surrounding towns, which lead to the making of our country what it is today.
Great local history. Took my kids (10 and 5 years old) and we had a great time.
