It was a great look at the General Marshalls life and how he lived. The tour guide Bob Photos was very knowledgeable and made the tour of the house very interesting. A must see for an insight into the most influential man in WWII and winner of the Nobel peace prize.

The Marshall House has been beautifully preserved so you can see how one of the most important leaders of the 20th century lived. Marshalls leadership and intelligence were central not only to the Allied victory in World War II, but also to the post-war reconstruction of Europe. Despite his major role in world affairs, he was a humble man who tended to his own vegetable garden that is still active on his property today. The excellent 1.5 hour tour was led by a very knowledgable and friendly docent. Parking was free. And to top it off, you can relax and discuss the magnitude of Marshalls contributions right next door at Loudoun Brewing Companys tasting room.

A wonderful home and history I was mostly unfamiliar with. The docents guiding the tour were excellent and seemed to really share their knowledge and respect for George C. Marshall. Made me want to read and learn more about this incredible man and the influence he had on history. The home was like taking a step back in time. Well worth the visit.

For the student of World War 2, of modern U.S. history, or of the Cold War, the well-preserved home of George C. Marshall is definitely worth a visit. Anyone with a fondness for the household decorating of the 1950s will also enjoy the house and furnishings. Churchill called Marshall the organizer of victory for his role in managing the Allied war effort. His home provides a look at the life choices of a plain man dedicated to his country. Overshadowed by figures like Eisenhower, McAuthur, and Patton, Marshall is probably one of the least appreciated but most important leaders in our nations history.

I personally used to work at the Fort in high school and still love it there. History comes to life in this house, and all around the Fort. The Marshall House has so many fun aspects (the ceiling frescos, the to-the-floor windows, the gold-dust and ruby-flake painting in the dining room). Best of all is that tours are always free....

Gen. George C. Marshall helped shepherd the U.S. through World War II, was Secretary of State and Secretary of Defense, and served as the father of the Marshall Plan, rebuilding Europe from the ruins of war. The Marshall House in Leesburg, Virginia, his former home, is distinguished most of all for its modesty and its quintessential American-ness. A visit to the house is a small trip through a special slice of history.
