We went there for the purpose of barbecue. At the lakeside you can park your car on the grass right beside the shades and use the grill there. The only problem is you gotta go there all prepared, because there is no department stores available nearby for charcoal or any other accessories.

Its a small public lake that was built long before the larger reservoirs in the area. Great for swimming, fishing and kayaking.

Great lake to kayak, swim, fish. Always mowed and very well taken care. Very little boat traffic and the boats that are on the water are very courteous to paddlers.

Love this lake! Kind of a hidden jem. They really need to expand the swimming area and parking area! What a hike to get bake to the car not long just up hill the whole way.

This is a really clean and cute little lake with a nice swimming area. Its not too busy with boat traffic, so its a great place to swim, float, or paddle.

My favorite lake! Well kept!

Its one of the more hidden parts of Douglas county, but the hidden nature of it makes it more beautiful. It has local camping that isnt expensive ($5 often, prices sometimes fluctuate) coupled with a small lake vibe. also the shoreline is sprinkled with various benches and grills, good destination for a night or day in nature.

Some bites for fishing. Not a lot of action.

This place is magical. Peaceful lake, separated swimming area with beach and clear separation of shallow and deep swimming areas. We love it.

Nice place for camping, good shower (watch for spiders). When coming in to camp GSP says to go right over bridge, DO NOT do that go left. Saves a lot of time.

I ENJOYED WATCHING MY FAMILY HAVE FUN AT THE LAKE! AND THE FIRE WORKS WHERE BEAUTIFUL THAT EVERYONE WAS SHOOTING OFF, INCLUDING THE ONES MY FAMILY SHOT OFF.

Nice little quiet lake to hit when Clinton is busy, not a bunch of space, but great to relax in the sun for a day. 2 boat ramps.

While the water clarity is quite good, the crappie were not biting at all. I caught a 2 lb. Largemouth bass and released it. Hopefully with a few warm days in a row the crappie will start spawning that will yield good fishing results.

Great little lake not too far from Lawrence! It’s really cleaned up a lot. If you’re into kayaking, this is the best lake for it.

Go there often, its my home away from home. LOVE taking my wife up for a quiet night of campfire swimming and 9 times out of ten thunderstorms lol.

There was a dog we got to pet named Ace. Good place for a picnic and fire.

Quiet, clean, and a nice swimming beach!If you are looking for a place to take your dogs to swim this is a good choice. While they arent allowed on the actual swimming beach, you can let them swim in the areas near it (I believe there is a leash requirement listed in the parks official rules as well as some other guidelines).Its a small lake so there isnt a lot of traffic (land or water) which makes for a relaxed trip. Definitely worth checking out!

Nice park and lake, great for swimming, fishing, kayaking/canoeing and fishing. Camping area was clean, we just saw the tent area while we visited the Sunflower Cycle exhibit today. They had several styles of kayaks in various lengths as well as paddle boards for people to try out and learn about the differences.It was a great time had by all.

Lone Star is still one of our favorite stomping grounds and now home to a friends getaway cabin. We have been coming here for over 30 years and it has been able to maintain its appeal as a small and peaceful Lake.

I officiated a wedding here and it was beautiful...

Great place for having a relaxing time. People goes mostly during summer and like to enjoy the beach. It is a great place for fishing and swimming. It have a place for camp but it is usually packed and you must have to have your own RV

This is my favorite lake in the area. Quiet, fun to drive around. Easy to get to from Lawrence. One of the first places I bring friends when they come to town to visit.

Quiet lake with a few good picnic areas, and a designated swim area as well. Some of the picnic areas have a small fire pit, so you may want to bring your own grill!

Love this little Lake

Lone Star is one of the oldest lakes around here. Predates the much larger corps reservoirs. Built as a WPA project and county owned. Theres private frontage around half of the lake, but also public use areas and swim beach.

Absolutely perfect day for paddleboarding on lone star lake! So peaceful out here!

We just love it at Lone Star! The campground is nice and clean and the lake is clean and very relaxing!

Small and usually not very crowded which is good. Its a good place to take the kids to explore since there are always interesting things to see which makes great nature lessons.

The original weekend lake in Lawrence, this is where the University of Kansas Concrete Canoe team practices, of which I was a member for many years. The grass along the road beside the lake, especially near the North East edge, is always mowed. This is important as this is where most canoes and kayaks launch from, requiring cars and trailers to park in the grass besides the road.The house containing the restrooms has always been unlocked and clean during posted hours. Furthermore, the swimming pier is always removed within the week of swimming season ending and returned the week of opening, showing constant attention to the facilities. Furthermore, there is very little trash besides some unfortunate cans here and there, but the sand on the swimming beach appears to be cared for.Overall, this is a great place for swimming in the summer, and boating or picnicking year round. I do not have experience with camping here.
