A beautiful, sunny 62° December day in Lakewood. No trees in the trail which is great for getting sun on a cold day but could get today in the summer. There are nice views throughout the park and you can summit Green Mountain which is a very easy hike. You will get nice views of downtown denver, cacti, mountains, and maybe a rattlesnake if you are lucky. You can also mountain bike throughout the park. For mountain biking, it is easy terrain but a steep, strenuous ride that will definitely give you a workout. There were sections of mud and ice on each trail I explored in early December (20% of the trails). I would assume that there is mud and ice throughout most of the winter. It was still very rideable on a Mountain Bike and hikers didnt seem to mind it. I would recommend bringing some spikes just in case. There are multiple parking options around the park boundaries and if full, there is also Street parking available in certain spots.I will definitely be going back to mountain bike and would highly recommend it to anybody who doesnt mind a little mud and ice.
We wish there was more parking, overall, and trying to park in nearby neighborhoods/parks and getting across Alameda makes me feel like Im playing Frogger because theyre arent any crosswalks. However, you cant beat the views and youll get some great exercise.
Great place to challenge yourself to a strenuous but beautiful bike ride
Nice evening walk, not terribly exciting as we took the more frequented bicycle path. Should have walked the incline and got a better view!
Its a cool place to explore. There arent any trees or covering, so unless you go up on top of Green Mountain, it just kind of feels like youre roaming around in a desert
I love hiking this park. Its out of the city just enough to feel away and close enough that it doesnt take long to get there. Im also always thrilled about the amount of courtesy everyone shows at this park. Cyclists always announce their approach, and they do it far enough in advance to give me time to move off the trail to give them room to pass.
6ish green mountain loop is a perfect mid distance trail run with beautiful scenery on a well developed path with some good rolling hills. Fun workout for local runners, bikers and hikers
Beautiful place right outside the city in Lakewood, CO. Gorgeous views! Dog friendly! Dont miss this one!
Ill give the views a 5 and it gets points for being a short drive from Denver, but you have to share the trail with mountain bikers and trail runners, all of which are very polite but its not the same feel as less busy trails. But it seems really great for mountain biking heh!
Good mtn biking. Lots of traffic though. Plenty of room to add trails if they wanted to.
There were no masked marauders here, it was wonderful and rare since covid took over our lives.
Deer galore. I counted at least 3 whitetail bucks and a doe with her fawn. And tons of cottontail bunnies. Perfect for taking your or on the trail. Make sure to yeild to bikes. Bird watching was pretty good here. Meadow Larks, raptors, and Robins.
Great park if you dont mind not having trees around.
Great work out. Such a treat. Would do this again
Beautiful place to hike and get away from the city, even though its not far away at all. Its quiet, peaceful and a nice place to go and reflect on life or clear your mind. There were cyclists biking on the trails, which I wouldve believed impossible had I not seen it done with my own eyes, so kudos to those guys and gals. The trail options can be overwhelming, and might ens up out here longer than anticipated if you dont make note of where you started, but Id you have nothing but time on your hands then thats actually the beauty of it.Definitely recommend trying this park out!
I was smoking some fire spaghetti when I hear noises and see a black figure walking by so I basically saw Bigfoot would totally recommend a great spot for a tea party
Great hike and perfect if you are into mountains bikes. The top of the mountain gives you an entire view of the city. Really enjoyed seeing the front range from this angle
My favorite hike in the whole Denver area!! Did this trek many times...sunrise, sunset, super moons and fireworks. Absolutely stunning.
Really nice quick just outside of Denver place to hike. Views of the Denver Skyline. Dog Friendly.
Just an incredibly special place. Get off the road and it is more peaceful and beautiful than you would imagine!
Only a 15 minute drive from downtown Denver, Hayden Green makes you feel like youve transported yourself far away into the foothills. The rolling hills are great for a challenging run, a mountain bike or walking your pooch. Not usually very crowded, you dont need to compete for space on the trails.
Nice park with lots of sunlight so good for a cold day. Probably a boring hike but was great for trail running, despite some spots being a little wet. I think you can get up to 10-11 miles total if you loop through all the trails. Great views of the Rockies and of downtown Denver.
The fact that this park has limited parking but is as large as it is leads to a welcomed piece of solitude in the city. The trails were very well maintained, the hiking was enjoyable, the views were worth stopping for. Especially the views of downtown and the entire metro area spread out like a quilt at your feet. Will definitely become a regular stop in the future.
A beautiful park with amazing views and fun trails that anyone can do. The mountain itself isnt very high but is still very fun to hike up. Parking is fairly limited. Id recommend going around the evening, the views from the top at night is phenomenal. Definitely worth a visit.
I love the trails here. Theyre so many different levels of trails. The best part is that you dont have to drive 2 hours to get to them. Very open space. I dont think I have seen one tree on the mountainl. That being said, wear lots of sunscreen and bring lots of water.
My backyard! Beautiful grassy trails shared with a lot of mountain bikes. Really polite patrons and cyclists. Committed hiker with two Huskies have loved Green Mountain for quick getaways for years. Community loves this destination and it shows.
Great place for hiking and flying with ur drone .
Amazing park! Can’t believe that such an amazing expanse of trails and views is so close to the Lakewood / Arvada area. Great for families, leashed dogs, trail runners, and mountain bikes! There are a few folks who don’t pick up their dog’s presents, but for the most part, the trails are clean and well maintained. There are great trails for walking/running where the grade isn’t too crazy, but also some fun trails if you’re willing to climb. No matter which you select, the views are awesome! Easy access on the south/east side is pretty much available from anywhere in the Green Mountain set of neighborhoods.
Ive been coming here for years! It has great, easy hikes! I havent really come across anything truly difficult here, but it is very scenic! Great view of hogsback & red rocks amphitheater off of the John O. Trail! Pup approved as well
Short hills, narrow trails; a near complete view of Denver and the Rocky Mountains. Always better than a treadmill. On West Alameda Parkway, there are (2) parking and trail entrances. Expect doggos with people on leashes, runners, bicycle riders and trail walkers. Portable latrines are on site, in the parking area. Wear your Protective Equipment and ♡drink water!♡
Views at this park are great on nearly all the trails, and if your after wildflowers in spring this is one of the better places. Noise from traffic is high, and there is always a lot of people in the park. Sadly the trail signage in the park is very poor, but the chance of getting lost is very low.
Great hike on a well marked trail. Trail is rocky and there is no shade. Bit it is a beautiful hike.
Absolutely beautiful area but rattlesnakes are out seen one yesterday as it was only 1 foot off of hiking trail and gave a warning. It was very well camouflaged as I didnt see it until it gave a warning. Not a good spot to get around it.
Seeing bits of Colorado. The outside is open and there is plenty of room to avoid others.
Beautiful hike where mountains are on one side and the City of Denver on the other. Great time to go is around sunset. A nice easy to moderate hike
Beautiful trails for hikers and mountain bikers. There are enough parking spots and the whole area is well maintained and clean. At the top of the mountain you have an beautiful View. There are signs, so you know where to go.I really Love to ride my mountain Bike there.
I love this place always a challenge
This is a good trail to walk if you are looking for a challenge. It is an almost entirely uphill walk or run or bike to the top. Once you get to the top you are rewarded with a great view of Denver. It is also one of the few places that is open after dark. Night hikes are probably some of the best you could do.
Saw this up here thought itd be a subject of my camera. The view from here is incredible and i even found a chunk of wavellite that i polished up. Dogs on leash, a place that is a 30 min drive if you just want to decompress.
Looks like the Windows XP background in spring. So beautiful here and you can see as far as the eye can on top.
Morning sunrise was spectacular!
Great place for a quick walk.
Great hikes, both short and long, with spectacular views of the city and mountains. There are no trees, and the trails are exposed to winds. Bikers frequent these paths.
I recently discovered this open space while walking my dog. I absolutely love it. Its great because there are many trails and it can be peaceful or challenging, depending on the trail you pick. Its so cool to be able to hike green mountain and not need to get into my vehicle to go to a trailhead, because its close enough to walk to.
The trails are alright, but it was too over crowded as a walker. Had to pull over what it felt like every tenth of mile to let bikes pass. The scenary is nice but there are better, less crowded trails near by.
Certain parts of the roads leading to the park are closed to cars. So park in a nearby location and walk up. Its a stunning park on a mountain top. You can see the beautiful views of Lakewood and Denver, hike and bike around. They have public restrooms at the visitor center.
So relaxing to look out over the city and get lost in your own thoughts.
Lots of trails. Good place for trail running, mountain biking, or just a hike.
Great hiking so close to Denver metro. Great views of the city and the mountains.
Trails are very well maintained but not marked
Always a great hike!Lots of trails to choose from.
My backyard!!! I love all the trials. Great place to get out of the city without leaving the city. You definitely have a huge place to explore. It’s my favorite place to come clear my head.
One of my favorite walks.
Great hike with awesome 360 views! Access off of Alameda West of Kipling. Google maps takes you a crazy way and alternate entrance, no good.
Great mix of trails for all levels and maintained very well. Parking can be limited during heavy times.
Great hiking and biking trails
A great place to go but if youre a hiker you might want to watch out for the mountain bikers
If your the type of person who puts a one star review on a trail system we dont want you there anyways
Had a blast mid-lining with some friends. Unfortunately got arrested for trespassing. Went the wrong way into the park. Stay clear of the buffalo. Kid friendly.
Nice place to hike!!
This place is perfect for mountain biking and hiking. Bike trail are easy but a good level of stamina is required to make it to the top pedaling.
Beautiful views, not busy, and a great way to appreciate the outdoors.
My favorite Lakewood lookout spot with plenty of trails and vistas
Fun, but steep!
Very nice. No shade though so sunscreen and plenty of water
Great hike, with beautiful scenery towards the top!
Green and in the mountains. Would recommend.
Fun day, but man thats a long hill climb!!
Nice view. Easy walking
Excellent shakes and portion sizes for the price.
Decent place to mtn bike.
Awesome views. Good parking...
Great place for hiking and biking very close and convenient to my home.
I went on a kinda windy day but over experiance, it was relaxing. People walk up here on a regular and this was all new to me, it was peaceful and time reflecting ️
These trails will test your pulmonary function, thats for sure. Beware that there is no shade, so wear a hat and bring water. View is excellent at the top. In the summer, it gets very dry up on Green Mountain, so be mindful that this mountain catches fire easily. Very large mountain close to city, great views, hiking, biking, could have rattle snakes in the summer. Great walk up to the top. Be careful if you come with your dog that you keep them on the path. When it warms up there are rattlesnakes on and off the path.
Fantastic hiking place, great area to go to train for the larger mountains, and it has wonderful views of bith the city and some of the 14ers in the background
Its close to Denver, it has the elevation gain that I seek, and in the early morning it isnt very crowded. I love hiking the trail for weekend cardio!
Good views, good place for a quick hike close to the city but right on the edge foothills as well. Mountain bike trail. Free. Close to red rocks, golden and lakewood and I-70
Green mountain is a great place to venture
Great views once you ger far enough in to not hear the trafdic anymore.
Very long and hard initial climb.
Some of the best views of Colorado, moderate hike but absolutely amazing.
Been walking this park for nearly a year and took a huge hike that got me a little lost. This park/ mountain is massive with lots of bicyclists, hikers, dogs and very busy. I do love this area tremendously and enjoy living in the area. This park is amazing minus the occasion jerk who doesn’t understand he does not own the trail. There is always one!
Beautiful park with amazing views of the entire Denver area. A bit of a tough uphill and a small parking lot, but the views are well worth it!
Good spot for a quick hike or bike.
Fun trail system, grueling climb to the top but once up there its a lot of fun. Jefco parks allow class 1 pedal assist ebikes, which is a great initiative.
This trail has some amazing scenic views. Extremely beautiful and enjoyable hike. Will definitely come back here sometime in the future.
We love going on hikes here. The trails are effect for anyone. The lower trails are easy and we can bring our 2.5 year old with no problem. I also enjoy doing trail running here as well.
This park reminds me of Mission Peak in the Bay Area. The wide open grassland covered hills do not offer shelter. The park is accessible from north, south, east and west sides of the Green Mountain. I have a measly mile stroll to the south entrance, with network of trails of sufficient mileage for an avid hiker.
Watching the sunrise here is awesome
Trails for daze. You will be dazed from the workout. Very great on your soul and legs. A n amazing place for x-training or trail running or marathoning. Or if this is a Jr. than Chataqua is the big brother. Ah altitude! Smell it!
Review exclusive to mountain biking. This area has so many paths to take for many different riding levels. However, Id say endurance is a must as there is lots of climbing.Jefferson County, JeffCo, is pretty amazing at trail maintenance and trail closure notifications. You can even sign up for email and text alerts for trail closures and openings. Very impressed.
This is one of my favorite places to walk it has a pretty good uphill and fantastic views. One thing that may turn you off is it is also used by bicyclists. Theyre usually polite and willing to share the trail.
Spent 5 hours just hiking from summit to summit and it was so beautiful that I took over 80 pics!
A nice hike for cooler days
