A small but well curated museum. The current exhibition features Small Wonders including a thousand year old Greek vase, a portrait of Rodin by Renoir, a scene painted by Clementine Hunter, as well as more modern works by Louisiana artists. The permanent collection highlights the history of Lake Charles. Its easy to spend 45 minutes to an hour here for a patron of the arts.
I always believe we should support our local museums because it is our heratige, who we are. This museum is full of local history including the original settlers who first sighted Jean Lafitte the pirate. Many stories growing up in nearby SE Texas and now Im even more curious of the truth! Great place and a really old and beautiful Oak tree makes the visit even more worth while!
Very interesting little museum. Lots to see and read about here! Make sure you ask to go see the Exhibit next door. It’s not always unlocked and it’s worth the hassle.
I really enjoyed this museum. It had a lot of really cool exhibits and my six and three year old nieces loved it.
We enjoyed all of the displays. The staff is knowledgeable & very friendly. Our child took the art camp class given over the summer & she looks forward to it yearly.
Awesome!
Very adorable. Loved all the history in there
Great place to visit. Only a couple of dollars per person. Situated in historic area with a 350-420 year old oak tree. Worth the trip.
Great local history.
We just stopped by to see the tree wish it would have been like June or July
