We stopped because we heard the banana bread was good, but we werent prepared for the exceptional views.
A really beautiful and exciting point where jagged volcanic rock sits along the ocean and waves crash along the rocks making exciting spouts and explosions. Be careful close to the edge as the water. Ground is unstable so you have to be careful when you are walking. Definitely worth a quick visit it is not too far from the Ritz Carlton Hotel.
There was a light rain the day we visited here, which created a full rainbow from shore to sea. The walk takes you best a sacred Hawaiian burial ground and leads you out to the dragons teeth. As an added bonus, there is a labyrinth there that we walked in soulful meditation. A beautiful day off the beaten path.
The lava formations here are quite spectacular. Some of these are called Dragons Teeth, and youll certainly see why as you walk along the coast. There is no shade here, so the best time to visit is late in the afternoon, when the sun is low on the sky. You get spectacular views out to the sea, with some rugged cliffs. I would consider this one of the must see places on Maui, dont miss it.
Bring good hiking shoes! And a walking stick if you have trouble with steep incline and decline. Its a beautiful hike but its slippery in a lot of spots. I went during a drought and it was still slippery. I also wore the wrong shoes so thats on me. There are porta potties at the base of the trail, parking lot is small, bring water, rest/look out spot at the top, 4.5 miles round trip, go one a clear day if you want to see stuff at the top.
Amazing lava shaping by the wind long ago
Do NOT miss this wonder of the world. Im surprised its not better well known. Ive seen a lot of natural formations that are spectacular but this one might take the cake. I repeat. Do. Not. Miss!
Gorgeous, craggy rocks and views! Fun to walk out and climb around; Ive been sitting out here for hours whale watching. True that access to this spot is nestled between two resort properties, but there is a single row of public parking, at the head of the trail, if you know where to look. Easy to walk to from the Ritz Carlton.
Nice spot to observe the ocean and passing whales. Careful observation will allow you to spot a turtle in the rocky surf. The dinosaur teeth will be quite prominent when you are in the right place. Read the signage, be respectful of what it says and youll leave with a wonderful experience.
Great view, rocky path so wear good shoes, we saw many sea turtles, the rock formations were unique! You have to walk along a path on the right side of the golf course to get to the rocks.
Fascinating spot of land here in Maui. The rock formation that shape to call Dragons Tooth is worth checking out and you’ll certainly be able to spend some time taking pictures and videos of the landmark.
Beautiful coastline - something interesting and different in every direction! Park at the Public Car park, it’s a 3-5 minute walk down from there!
There’s a small (and free) parking lot at the beginning of Dragon’s Teeth Trail on google maps. From there it’s a easy 10min walk down to the rock formations which are pretty cool and you get nice views of Moloka’i island.
As a photographer - I love this spot. Blue hour is the best time to shoot. The waves can really splash so do bring a towel and cloths to keep your lens clean. Aside from the teeth themselves the whole rocky ledge has interesting features. You can get here by car or by bus.
A very unique and beautiful sight. A must see.
Gorgeous view! Great for hiking, just take your time on the sharp rocks!
Entry is discouraged. We have seen a lot of people reading this and leaving. Not sure is it because of warning or tremendous wind. There is a burial site also. Feels very spiritual. There is a public parking.
Great views and we saw turtles in the waters too. A must see.
One of my favorite short and easy hikes on west Maui!! Weather is always so different and ocean is usually so powerful and strong out at the point!! Ssshhh please keep a secret so tons of people dont show up! Only less then 20 parking spots.
Scenic view of high waves crashing on the rocks. The color of the rocks is a beautiful mix of rich black, brown, and white colors.
Breath taking spot a little tricky to get to you may see a rainbow :)
Interesting and beautiful landscape, awesome place to watch the ocean waves
Excellent views. Can be windy. Hold on to your hat.
A nice walk in the afternoon, shore break can be pretty big at times. Careful around wet rock can be slippery. There’s a variety of smaller trails so you can find your own spot to chill.
Fun area to explore if you are nearby! Just make sure to bring water and closed toe shoes, it can get hot out there and the walk up the hill after may be tiring for some.
We enjoyed the walk, looking at all the lava formations, the crashing surf, the tide pools, and especially watching turtles in the water down below. Windy. Wear sunblock, hat, shades & bring water. We spent more time there than we expected.
At the end of Office Rd turn right in parking lot. About 15 parking spaces. Entrance of trail is right side of golf course. Look for sign monument of Makaluapuna Point. Will take you straight to Dragons Teeth and the labyrinth
One of the best part of this part of the Pacific ocean is the rock formations...this is part of it..
Came here to walk the maze, leave my worries behind. Observe the beautiful point looking out at the ocean. Several sea turtles meandering. Old Hawaiian burial ground, very interesting. Set with the west Maui mountains as a backdrop. Beautiful. A must see. Lava flow created a interesting formation, area is called dragons teeth.
Walking along the coast. Lovely views.
We drove past the area 3 times before we finally located the trail head. There are no signs to tell you where Dragons Teeth is located exactly. Dont be deterred, the short hike is well worth the effort! Some folks wont follow the path worn in the grass next to the Kapalua Golf Course because of the no trespassing on sacred grounds signs, but those areas are clearly marked on the right as you go down the path. There seems to be plentiful parking, if its a sunny day, wear a hat and take water and DONT MISS this beautiful hike!
Cool spot for some nice pictures close to the west side of Maui
A physical space filled with spiritual abundance. The hike is easy and beautiful, the point is a fantastic geologic marvel and a quiet visit to the labyrinth will leave you peaceful and at ease with yourself.Major physical challenge, take your snorkel gear out to the point, jump in and swim the reef to the beach!
Great place to see where the lava flowed to the sea.
Magical place. Can see dolphins and whales nearby.
Spectacular place to see dragons teeth. Wind is very strong.
Dragons teeth, cool rugged and accesseble.
Unique rock formations. Ancient prayer maze. Whales jumping in the ocean. Giant turtles!
Very nice place
Waves break pretty near shore but the water was nice. You can walk out along the point and theres a cool grass labyrinth you can walk
Great place to check out on Maui
An interesting spot!
A fun little hike. The place is accessible through either ritz Carlton or the golf club. There is a public parking lot near the start of the trail. It’s a short 5m walk down towards the water and it is worth it.The view is breathtaking. The giant teeth shaped rock formation on the cliff over looks the crushing waves. There are times you can see large sea turtles hanging out, in the water not on shore. Walk around the place you will find more to explore including a labyrinth and a coastal trail to more adventures.Happy travels!
Easy hike to see some interesting geological features and nice views of how the other half lives. The maze is an odd feature. Who had time to make something like this? They must have been retired.
Wow! What a beautiful view!
Easy hike. Beautiful sights
Unique rock formations, great views of Kapalua Plantation and Bay Course #17
My family goes here every time we come to Maui, but this time it was stormy. The waves had grown so large, that large drops of ocean sprayed over the labyrynth. The wind that is usual for dragonsteeth kicked up, reaching what must have been 60 miles per hour. The ground reverted back to mud with the relentless rain and waves. The mud was the perfect concauctuon to stick to my shoes. With every step the mud clung more so my shoes, and my flip flops grew heavier and heavier. The weather was so bad that I wasnt able to complete the labyrynth, which had turned into a giant slippery puddle. I had never seen it like this before, but I appreciated the novelty of it.
Great walk down through the golf courses to an out of this world landscape next to the ocean with waves crashing against the shore.
Very beautiful place. Its a magic how the ocean made those rocks so beautiful. There was small parking lot, and about 3 min walk to the amazing view. Totally recommend this place for pictures and drone shoots.
It was worth the little hike to it. I wish the County would have a bigger parking lot.
Dragons Teeth is a fascinating rock formation from one of Mauis last big lava flows and is a West Maui must see. Easy accessible too. Its a few minutes walk from the park
Lovely place to watch turtle up close
Extremely scenic location to view Waves crashing into the rocks and showering water! Definitely worth the 5 min hike from Ritz Carlton!
The trial is along the famous Kapalua golf course. It’s very windy so don’t wear your hat unless you’re willing to lose it. Parking is a challenge. Walk is a bit challenging but manageable. Cool site of waves crashing the dragons teeth. Very cool.
Came her during a stormy rainy day and it was simply magnificent. Can be dangerous for the unexpected but you can get some great shots around the teeth and the waves slamming against the rocks.
Some decent views up and down the coast. On the North side you can watch the ocean crash into the point via a slowly forming cave mother nature is working on...for the next thousand years or so.
Great fun!
We seen a lot of wild life great viewing point.
Extraordinary lava formations. So glad we made the hike down to the point to explore.
Easy walk. Nice clean bathroom in nearby hotel. Easy parking
Super sweet spot. A little tough hike but worth it
Breathtaking and very chill to check out for a bit
Awesome Mother Nature.Loved the meditation ring. Felt the positive energy. The Hawaiian burial site was a great touch of reality.
Neat easy hike/walk. Can be done with kids. I would recommend shoes, but could be done with sandles
Of course its five stars, Maui is beautiful.
Dragons Teeth. This place is definitely worth a visit. Very beautiful. I recommend visiting early in the morning with the sun to the East. Youll be able to see the island of Molokai to your left, and the sun and the tip of Maui to your right!Make sure to stay off the grass, as the grass are historic burial grounds.
Great hiking location. Be careful of the surf though. Dont be the person that gets swept off the rocks to get a selfie for IG.
Great spot- short hike.
This is a great spot, especially if you are going to ancient energy. Very soulful.
Its a cool place... another name is Dragons Teeth.Good place for sunsets in the summer. There are alot of other places that are a much better use of your time though. Go here only if you happen to be a nearby beach.
Right in front or could be part of Ritz carlton hotel (with theres a public parking when you turn right of Office Road). Also, dont follow Google map saying turn left on Office Rd -- Turn right! And just follow the path to the beach. I saw a Maui bus pass by, so I guess they have service here.
This is a great place to visit that a lot of people dont know about. The area is really rocky, so make sure if you bring kids to make them really watch their steps. The scenery is amazing and the waves come right over the rocks in a lot of places, there is also an odd flat maze that kids will love. Photographers will also love the unique scenery. Would recommend coming here and then going to Sansei for happy hour on the same road to get to the trail head.
Amazing,Spiritual, Beautiful
Great snorkeling spotted a turtle
Dragons tooth trail is so so cool! We were so happy we decided to do this trail on our first day in Maui. I am sure you could do everything in about half an hour but we were so blown away by the beauty around us that we wandered about for close to 2 hours. Unfortunately we were a bit too early for sunset, I am sure that it would have been an incredible experience watching the sunset here.
Best part of our Maui trip. Its breathtaking.
Very impressive area, looks like you are standing on the moon.
Sweet spot. Made an awesome walk with beautiful views.
Absolutely stunning at high tide. Easy to park and easy to walk. No crowds!!!
Worth the trek from the Ritz for a nice and private sunset
Magical place to walk around definitely check out the labyrinth and volcanic rock pools next to the breaking waves, just breathtaking.
We came up here for sunset and the views were amazing! Definitely a must if you are staying at the Ritz Carlton Resort. Its just a walk down your room.
Definitely alot to see. Just a bit walking on some bumpy rocks allows you to see animals like hermit crabs, crabs, snails, and even a sea turtle. The dragons teeth are just the tip of the iceberg here for the Makaluapuna point. Great thing to do for all ages.
Beautiful place to hike around
Great hike! Gorgeous views! Movie ready
Great fishing and didnt even needed a fishing pole just some line, a hook, and some bait and your in business
Dragon teeth result from battle between lava and sea. Powerful wind and waves. If you go out to the end watch out for the ninth wave, quite surprising.
If you like lava- like shoot with breathtaking background pounding waves, the. This is the place to take your loved ones. If you walk up the hill, you will find a serene self reflecting moment walking on the circle made by the locals.
This is a beautiful, scenic area with a large labyrinth for walking meditation. It takes some attention to find the path without walking on the golf course. It offers stunning views and some amazing natural rock formations.
Beautiful place, you have to see the dragons teeth!
Great experience. And I am an old guy.
