We enjoyed the cultural presentation about the Museum and the New Year, with attractions for children, drumming and the Lion Dance. A happy event where the volunteers were enthusiastic and worked very hard to make everyone feel part of this inclusive celebration.

Chinese in Hawaii and how they immigrated to the US. The original cook house is now used as a theatre showing a film about the Chinese in Hawaii.History is fascinating and you can learn so much.Kamaaina special to visit 4 museums for a nominal price.

Really cool small museum. Check it out if you are into Asian history / history of the islands. The sweetLady working at the museum invited us to the Obon festival. Amazing! There is also a huge star fruit tree in the courtyard. We asked if we could have a star fruit - omg- best star fruit I’ve ever tasted.

Beautiful place to check out. We always come to Maui for the Humpback Whale season and often thats the same time of year as the Chinese Lunar New Year. They do a great celebration here complete with artists, red lanterns, food and entertainment. Its a great place to check out anytime of year, but especially around the Chinese holidays. We also caught the tail end of the costumed Lion Dance along Front Street.

Nice small museum in the middle of Lahaina. Worth a visit if you have a half hour or so to spend. $7 price tag might be little steep, but if you plan to visit another museum on their list $10 for the multiple-museum pass is worth it. Bailey House Museum is only a few blocks away and a visit to both is worth the $10 price. Some beautiful jade sculptures inside.

10/31/16: 3.5 out of 5 - Interesting little museum of the Chinese Immigrants to Maui. Some ordinary pieces, but there are some interesting pieces of the time. The video loop in the cook shed is fascinating since was a Thomas Edison Film footage.Worth checking out if ever in Lahaina.

A very sweet, extremely knowledgeable woman owns and operates this museum. The history of the Chinese people in Hawaii, particularly in Maui, and the contributions that theyve made to the island is fascinating. I definitely recommend taking the time to visit this little museum and watching the films by Thomas Edison that she has. She is more than happy to answer questions, provide you with a tour, and explain of everything that she has, the history behind those items and the Chinese people that first came to Hawaii.

Chinese history told with artifacts and a very congenital guide who answered all my questions enthusiastically. Two short movies made by Thomas Edison were especially informative.

Lots of Chinese keepsakes to learn about however the building is not much of the museum, more of just a place to learn about the Chinese who settled in Hawaii. All in all, was worth the visit. Be sure to watch the Edison videos, theyre wild!

Really cool history here! The relics and artifacts are beautiful, well maintained, and informative. We visited for the Chinese New Year celebration which was awesome. I learned a ton about Chinese history I never knew before. We also go to see a Lion Dance, something I never got to participate in. It was a beautiful experience.

Not a whole lot to see, mostly some videos from Thomas Edison showing life in Hawaii 100 years ago, which didnt seem to have much to do with the theme of the museum. Otherwise its pretty much a 5 minute walk through.

An old Chinese temple in downtown Lahaina. Fairly generic exhibits inside. The best part was an old film reel of the island made by Thomas Edison in 1898 (!) playing on loop in the cookhouse.
