This beach was the best thing after my hike at the morro hike trails. Its so separated from lousy people that visit the beaches and private in sense. It was relaxing to watch the waves and dolphins nearby with very little people near by. I came with my sister around 6 am and it was the lost peaceful location yet the trash cans need to be emptied out as they were so full of trash. Other than that I would love to come back soon. The wildlife and trails in this state park are one of a kind. Stumbled across squash and edible flowers, animals and luckily no rattlesnakes. Didnt know I could bring my bike but next time I will do that. Parking for entire day is 15 and you can pay with apple or Android pay, cash or card.
Its super nice especially the tunnel. The only downside for me would be when the tunnel gets flooded. However, the bathrooms are pretty close compared to other beaches and they have plenty of trash cans to through trash away. Also they have a life guard on patrol going around the beach so I can assure youre family will be safe.
Perfect too stay away from crowds at the beach! Super easy to stay far from people because its not as popar as other beaches but just as, if not more beautiful and picturesque! The end of the beach is more rocky but easy and fun to climb over and enjoy the water as it hits the rocks. Lots of little rocks in the water though so kind of rough on the feet to just wade through the water.
This was our familys first visit to the place. We parked in the visitor center parking lot (day pass is $15), did a 3 mile walk on the trail (the view is amazing), came back to the car, grabbed our stuff and headed to the beach. There is shower behind the restroom closest to the tunnel, (there isnt one in the upper parking lot near the trail), restrooms are clean..overall, nice place to spend the day :)
Much easier access to Crystal Cove State Park then others. The important note is that you cannot get to parking lot from the highway, you need to take the turn away from beach to get into park area. Then proceed to the day parking lot and a short walk through the tunnel and you are right at Crystal Cove beach. There is also a lifeguard post next to the tunnel, so you basically dont need to go far from there. The parking lot (the closest to the tunnel) is rather small, like ~30 cars, but there are additional parkings farther from tunnel. There are public restrooms and a shower to the right of the tunnel exit (when going from beach to parking).
One of the cleanest and least crowded beaches you will find. The water was surprisingly warm for the Pacific ocean. Walk left after passing through the tunnel travel all the way to the cliff if you want to find sea shells and bigger waves. Parking was $15 for the day. Also they have rinse showers and bathrooms right next to the parking lot.
Its a a beautiful spot, if you use the tunnel to get here make sure you are prepared to walk through water. Not sure how often its without water but its a short walk. Great views park fee was $15. They promote the Passport Parking app, makes it easy to add a vehicle and pay quickly for future visits. The beach was clean waves were frothy.
Very cool location! Beautiful, clean and quiet place. The rangers and lifeguards take their jobs serious and are very helpful and friendly. I discovered this Bay when searching for a local hiking spot that was near the beach; this location surpassed any expectation that I had. The hike ended on the beach, doesnt get better than that, especially after a moderate hike on the hottest day this year. Loved this beach and I will be enjoying many more experiences there.
You can only pay for parking through an app. But its clean, beautiful, and they have restrooms
Beautiful beach well-maintained...Except the the tunnel was flooded for beach access you had to trudge through 8 in of freezing water!!
The place was so beautiful. The water was blue and very nice. We even saw dolphins! The only thing about this place is that you have to climb down a hill which is very tiring on the way up. Its all very worth it when you reach the beach though.
Amazing park with great hiking trails and beautiful beaches that tend to be slightly less crowded than Newport or Huntington. Also make sure to stop at the Beachcomber restaurant on the beach when your there.
Love it water is perfect not to many people life guards friendly
Be prepared to get wet. During high tide, the tunnel usually gets flooded, pass ankle points
Sweet lil cove and camping combined, cant get any better than that. Oh ps get the dolphin loop. Best view of the ocean I think.
Fun times, but tunnel gets flooded a lot so you have to walk thru run-off water from the canyon to get to the beach.
Beautiful and perfect for a quiet beach day with the family.
The park and beach are beautiful, however they really need to manage parking better. They are now making people pre-pay for parking, which applies to all of the nearby state parks as well. Theres not a problem with that, but the issue comes when all of the parking lots here and the others are totally full and youve already paid for parking. But, ok, the system for payment doesnt account for number of sales. Fine. Still, none of the parks knew that their own lots were full and, to top it off, didnt communicate with the other parks that they were filling up. This led us to first go to Crystal Cove and be told to go up the road to another parking area. Getting there, they said they were full and to go to Pelican. Upon getting there, they said they were probably full and to check at the first place we went (which was still full). So, having paid for a day of parking, we were left to go to nearby Fashion Island until the lots cleared up.
Beautiful place to visit. Camp hike or just spent the day at the beach..
I love Crystal Cove! Whether you are visiting or a native California spending the day here is like spending a day in Paradise. Because it is a cove the weather is usually a little bit warmer here so even on an overcast day its comfortable to spend the day here walking the beaches, watching the surfers, or just laying out. During the summer youll want to get here early if youd like premium seating!!
Found another nice place to launch my kayak from. Plenty of parking, public restrooms friendly staff and its short walk to the beach. The price for the day is very reasonable ($15). Theres much more to see and do but i was only looking for locations to launch my kayak from.
Very clean safe plus not so crowded
Funky tunnel dirty water when tie is low.
Beautiful beach. Great family location. A wide variety of hiking trails.
Really calm and looks like a private beach. Beautiful place for a summer day to go to. Although you will have to pay to park, it is worth it.
I mean... Its a tunnel. What else can you say? Lol
Nice place, nice views, nice waters
Beautiful beach . Less crowd as well
Great beach and fun to see.
Great scenic hike before u enter the beach!
Awesome beach with awesome views that is not overly crowded. Staff was very helpful and nice.
Easy enough to walk thru..
Great beach to take your kids
Great beach and awesome bike trails and hiking trails
This is a tunnel unlike any other tunnel. Oh sure, youve been in tunnels... But if you havent been in THIS tunnel, you really need to check it out. This tunnel is AMAZING!!
Great place to spend the day entrance is through the campground and its 15 dollars for the day the beach is clean and not crowded very relaxing
So nice. Sand was great. The beach is flat so kids can play.
One of the best tunnels Ive ever been to. A little narrow for walking, but the atmosphere was excellent
Absolutely beautiful! Sunny, warm, beautiful blue skies with streaks of a few clouds. PERFECT day at a beautiful beach!
A little crowded near the tunnel but more space to the south.
The only down side is that there is a lot of tart
Great place to hang and catch some sun rays.
Beautiful clean beach
I love this place nice and relaxing
Perfect place to go for a run
It was my first time at Crystal Cove state beach. The beach was clean and the ocean was a beautiful blue. Im definitely going back to that beautiful beach.
This tunnel is a very practical and safe passage to the beach, thus avoiding the risk of accidents if you had to cross the road.
Very beautiful state park! Only 2 minutes away from the beach and our campsite overlooked the beach!!
Beautiful beach
Loved the secluded beaches. Spotted whales, dolphins and sea lions from shore.
Going through the tunnel is in a trip itself!
It is a tunnel under the street. It didnt fall down and crush me to pudding. Thats good, right?
Great little getaway
Very nice and secluded beach. Read: very few people here. Probably because the costs for parking at this state park are pretty darn high compared to other parking in the area. I think they wanted $5/hour! There are also campgrounds here, so that may be part of the reason for the higher rates
Wonderful beach
We love Crystal Cove! All camping sites have an ocean view, and you are just a short walk from beautiful Laguna Beach! The restrooms are extraordinarily clean and there are lots of trails for hiking or riding. We like to go for a few days when we can, but its very hard to reserve a space when the reservations start. This is a very popular state park! Tent camping is easier to reserve than RV as there is more availability for tent camping. They have spaces for disabled campers as well! All camp spaces are very spacious so you do not feel cramped. Camp site is on a hillside, so its not a parking lot full of RVs. You will love it!
So much easier when you have little ones to come to this side of the beach! Absolutely love!
MY BROTHER LOVED THE WAVES!The water in the tunnel did not look clean to walk in.Otherwise fabulous beach spot.
Beautiful quiet beach, plus I got to feed a squirrel, not included with the beach, but I did name him Timothy
Tunnel was passable today. 1/2 was sand. (Wet sand from high tide)
I mean, heck! Its a tunnel. Then again, awesome way to get across Highway One with no blood spilled! :-)
Love this place. Great beach, nice life gaurds. And its Clean
Beautiful beach area.
Shhhhhhhh dont tellll :)
Had a great time there with the family, its a beautiful beach!
Great...beach
Beautiful, natural, real! What I imagine beaches looked like a hundred years ago!
It was great to hike the mountain and on the way down be able to be at the beach. Crossing the tunnel was fun!
Such a great place for an easy walk tip the beach and safe for your kids.
Watch for the high tide, tunnel floods but is accessible. Great beach area.
Wonderful location to visit
Love this place
Beautiful, not overly crowded, nice waves. I dont mind paying $15 or 20 to support our Park!
Our go to beach with the kids. Its never crowded and the water is so clean.
Love it.
Fun day the with friends
Easy to access and lots of parking in the fall.
Awesome and beautiful
Beautiful view
Flooded! Wear flipflops!
Dirty but easy to get to the beach. Dont walk through the water. Theres always gross sewage going through, def wear shoes when walking through. Its very crowded too fyi
There was water there, but was good throught the water to get in to the beach
One of the worst access points to Crystal cove. Especially if you have a stroller, the tunnel is always pooling with water. Plus very steep walk from the parking lot. Its much easier to get to this party of the best by parking at reef point instead
Fun, clean place!! Great for the family !
I saw lots of cool cars drive by!
The water isnt good for getting into here most if the time. The beach is low enough you need to pay attention to the tides. We not go often but when we do we get there early to park close enough we dont have to walk up and down the steep hill.
