We booked a sunset and Bioluminesence tour with Sam and loved it! He’s very knowledgeable and fun while also conscientious! He knows the area so well and so much about the PNW wildlife. We are already looking for another opportunity to book with him. This was a great COVID safe activity!

This was my second trip with Kayak Nisqually and did the biolum tour. It, again, was absolutely amazing and fun. Sam has extensive knowledge of the area, history, cultures and eras, not to mention the science and ecology of what we were experiencing. We were provided were equipped with safety info, lots of how-to and suggestions to make our time more enjoyable. You dont have to go far to experience serenity and beauty - its all right here.

Sam was amazing with our various aged, various ability group. We had a full group of 10 and we all came together after reading the novel The Highest Tide by Jim Lynch which was set in the Nisqually Delta. Sam tailored his marine biology knowledge (and his knowledge of the novel) to our group. We loved it and highly recommend kayaking with Sam!

Great experience with a personal touch very much above and beyond the typical “canned” tour. We got a lot of very cool information about the local ecology and history. Our guide took his time to get us up close to the wildlife; we saw lots of baby seals, eagles, and other cool birds. Our group had people of all different skill levels and our guide did a great job of accommodating everyone and making sure everyone had fun. Would definitely do a tour with them again.

We went on the longer day kayaking trip and saw some of the amazing wildlife around Nisqually, bald eagles, blue heron, and seals with their pups. Having binoculars was great as we could keep a good distance as not to disturb the animals, but could observe very well. Kayaking instructions were clear, highy recommended.

My boyfriend and I had an amazing time doing the bioluminescence kayak tour with Sam! He went out of his way to meet us and make sure we were comfortable. His passion for what he does and knowledge of the ecosystem shows and makes the tour even better! Thank you Sam, we hopefully get the chance to come back and do another tour with you!

Sam was an amazing tour guide. I think there is a misconception about bioluminescence only being seen in the summer months. We went September 30 not only was the weather on the water amazing the bioluminescence were bright and bountiful. This was a magical experience that words and photos can not do justice it’s just something you need to experience yourself. Go with Sam you will not be disappointed !!!!

A wonderful experience! We booked a bioluminescence tour for our family and friends visiting. Robin was an excellent tour guide. She gave us a thorough safety briefing, checked our equipment, got us safely into the kayaks, and ensured we stay together in the dark. She was a wealth of knowledge about the local area, geology, and even navigating using the stars. The bioluminescence was awe inspiring. We got a decent workout kayaking to secluded Gull Harbor where the phyotoplankton was amazing. We left from Boston Harbor Marina. They have a great little restaurant and recommend arriving early to check it out. This is our second trip with Kayak Nisqually, definitely will use them again.

Sam of Kayak Nisqually is amazing! He takes his work seriously and was extremely patient and thorough in guiding my son & I (we were part of a group) on our very first foray into kayaking. We all enjoyed ourselves immensely and were already talking about going out again on a full day adventure. He is an encyclopedia of knowledge of the area, history and wildlife, as well as important current topics facing our unique ecosystem. I cannot recommend him highly enough! Thank you Sam!

This tour was wonderful - the weather was perfect, watching sunset, moon rise, and moon set, and gradually becoming accustomed to the dark and the bioluminescent bloom. Wonderful experience with a great guide.

I took my partner here for their 25th birthday and it was an unforgettable experience! Sam was a professional and informative guide with answers to any questions about the local flora and fauna. The time on the water was safe and enjoyable, and once the sun set the bio-luminescence transformed the water into an astounding and magical realm. Would recommend this experience to anyone!

Sam (Kayak Nisquallys main employee) was great with communication, especially over email, and was thorough with his instructions to the group. He is so full of knowledge about the Puget Sound and Washington history, so that was interesting to listen to. I went on the Bioluminescent Tour and felt like a child again once the plankton appeared more visibly, like glitter. Great experience overall!
