This is a great theatre. The staff is very friendly and do a great job with the COVID / distancing requirements. We love the food. We always get a pretzel. For the mains we alternate between pizza, chicken sandwich, burger, and chicken strips. The cookies and milkshakes are good too. This is the only theatre we come to due to the no cell phones/talking policy during the movie. They have a nice selection of new and old movies which we appreciate. Thanks!
This is was our FAVORITE date night, but I’m gonna be real honest, it’s not really worth going to during covid. The menu is very trimmed down, the service is slow, the showings are very limited. It’s just not Alamo right now. I really hope they survive this pandemic and make it back to themselves, but for the price of an Alamo dinner and movie date, you’re probably better off going to dinner elsewhere and then watching your movie.
It was great. Very clean and a courteous staff. New covid policies didnt take away from the experience at all, actually liked it better with seats spaced between everyone not in my family group. They had a limited menu, but my go-to of loaded fries and chocolate shakes were still there.
We visited the new location in Cinco Ranch tonight. The older location on Mason had better food. The new location in Cinco just seems overpriced (12.99$) for a movie. I had the Thai sweet Asian wings (really good). The seats were comfy and reclined back. Overall I was pleased with the appearance of the theatre. The loaded fries was nasty. My husband said his pizza was okay.
This is the most amazing movie theater in Houston Texas. The only place to go see a movie!
Rented out a theater for a double feature with some friends. The folks here made the night simple, flexible, and covid safe. Had a wonderful experience.
Best. Fries. Ever. (Hatch green Chile queso.)Trust me.
Food is a little pricey but was ready quickly and the BBQ Chicken pizza was delicious The staff is friendly and polite. Not a huge selection of movies. Clean facility and large bathrooms.
Great trendy theater. The customer service is awesome. These guys really care! They got us our food late last night and apologized by comping the food that was late and giving us two free tickets . We used to go to the Palladium all the time, but since they have been acquired, the service there has been terrible. Glad we have this awesome theater nearby! The only gripe was that the bathroom sinks were not all working when I tried to wash my hands. Hopefully they can get this small issue figured out.
Best food at a dine-in theatre in the area. Also has awesome special events with re-releases, older movies, documentaries, and musical events. Make sure to sign up for the rewards program because they have some decent rewards. We especially enjoy the Alamo for all program which is great for young children and their parents. The movie parties are great if you can find a movie you love, luckily theres a lot of variety.
This is a super awesome theater. I only wish they had a location in Spring still! Also, love the seats, but I really wish the table moved closer to you so you could actually use it to eat. I find it was good for holding things, but not helpful when actually eating, I still had to set my food in my lap. The food never disappoints and is always delicious too!Programming is awesome here, thank you Robert! Its super fun to meet the actors and directors and people involved in making the movies we enjoy so much. The shining carpet was an AMAZING touch!! Can we get this for our house? ;) Great place for movie nerds!!
Best place to watch a movie! Love the ease of buying my tickets through the app, except for the extra convenience fee, ridiculous. Food is delicious and the special menu items for the movies is a great special touch. Its nice to get their early, order, and enjoy the previews made just for the Alamo.
The food and employees were great. Highly recommend.
I enjoyed the vegetarian options. The food was great, good service and a decent craft beer selection. In fact I would say I had one of the most delicious meals Ive tasted in a long time here. Great place!
Its the only place I go! Incredible service and great times!
We live closer to the Regal Cinemas 24 (old Palladium) so visiting Alamo felt kind of sad to break ties with what used to be a great place but wow that wore off in the first visit! I am amazed by how sincerely nice and helpful the employees are, how good the food is and how comfortable the seats are! We arrived exactly at showing time and got great seats still (love you pick seating) and then love their menu ordering system: menu tucked under table, order on paper and available pens, stick note out and wait for pickup and delivery. So far weve tried the picked fries (good), loaded fries (great), some ham pizza (awesome), mr fancy pants burger (AMAZING). Great leather seats with reclining feature, dim light under, clean, I mean always someone there clean bathrooms... all great features!
We’ve been going to Alamo Drafthouse from the time it was located on Mason Rd. We really like the new theatre even better. One of my favorite things is the special showings like girlie night showings for Love Actually. I also LOVE that it’s for adults only, makes the movie much more enjoyable. My only complaint is that food service is hit or miss. One example would be that on several occasions we have ordered water and fountain drinks, the water never came and the fountain drinks came halfway through our meal, which was not enjoyable.
I used to love this place.Used to come for the food and service. The quality of the food have gone down significantly. Old popcorn and saggy fries. The staff (in theatre) really don’t care.I put a card up for drinks about 40 minutes in to the movie, the waitress look at the card about 20 minutes later and never bring the drinks..... it was a 2.5 hour long movie. The competition is getting strong in the area, management have to do something serious about these issues. To management: I really want to love you, you are close home, I love the new location, and the price is right. Do something about your food and service problem and I might come back and improve this review.
If I could rate a negative star I would! If youre looking for an enjoyable dinner served with a movie experience skip right over this place!!! Never been here before (to this location) and when we sat down we tried flagging down one of the 5 different waiters crossing by us for nearly 15 minutes! ( through the previews and into the beginning of the movie) I ended up getting up from my seat to walk out of the theater and hand our order to someone to even get acknowledged! So not a great 1st impression. It took a bit but after that we got our drinks (waters) and not too long after our appetizer. Then far later on we finally got our entries. The ranch and honey mustard we wrote on our order never came (even after trying to flag someone down yet again) so my husband got up this time to get it. We were never once checked on until right before our checks were handed out at the end of the movie... oh and you guessed it, they never came by for our card to pay for the check either.. we got up and waited in a short line to pay right outside the theater. Needless to say we will never be coming back. And also telling our movie loving friends about this experience.
My mother and I went to see Little Women and a girl from the wait staff came and told us to hold it down two times! We were just sitting there watching the movie - not even talking until she came up to tell us to keep it down. I didn’t hear anyone else in the theater being loud either. Very strange. Not sure if we’ll go back or not. We loved the movie but it would’ve been better if we weren’t interrupted so we could be told to hold it down. Should’ve tossed her out!
Its amazing how waiters/waitresses hide themselves while you are watching the movie. They could be taking the persons order right in front of you and it doesnt matter; it never disturbed me.Also, Alamo has a great character on how they do business. Come for the previews before the movie starts! Most times they aren’t just any previews, but they can be comical and entertaining in other ways.
First time to go. Went with the family. Went to a movie party event showing Phantom of the Opera. They provided props so the crowd could participate with the movie. Folks sang along. Overall, just a movie theater with table service but it was a fun time and the crowd was well behaved. Im not a movie person but would consider doing this again.
Went to soft opening this evening at the new location in La Centerra in Cinco Ranch, and have to say the place is exceptional. Seats are extremely comfortable, nothing at all like location on Mason Rd. Didn’t try any of the food, but servers seemed attentive. The place is very nice, complete with a bar and outdoor seating area. Thankfully, the theater screens are also larger than the older Katy location. I also thought the lobby carpeting from the Shining was great touch. Will definitely become a regular here.
Three time out of 6-7x that I’ve been at this particular location, I have been approached on my seat, “after the movie had already started”, to provide my ticket! And those have been times when I wasn’t planning to eat, so I did not want to be bothered. Each time they made me miss the opening! And it’s hard to look for your tix when you’re trying to watch a movie and have no idea what you did with them in the dark! But she would rudely await! Finally I had to say, hey I can’t find them now I’ll show them to you later. Then each time after the movie, we find her and complain, she says it’s our policy!!! We said if it’s your policy, do it before the movie not during! I’ve never experienced this interrogation in any other movie theaters, Regal, Star, and many more, not even at the Alamo’s other locations! I’m very upset and disappointed. They need to do something about that...!!!
Not for Left handed people! Comfy seats, great service, but if you are a lefty like me prepare to re-live your high school days with those wooden desks fixed on the right side only! So if you plan on eating their delicious food, either eat it in your lap, or turn your body to the right so you can reach the table, while making your neighbor think you are about to say something every time you lean in for a bite!
Alamo Drafthouse is the ONLY place to go to watch a movie. The strong no talking and texting policy is enough for me to rate 5 stars. Theres so much more! The staff is amazing, reclining seats, great food, and awesome special events! PLEASE ALAMO come to downtown Houston so I dont have to drive so far!
So sad this is the last one in Houston. Great food and beer selection. Minimal children to interrupt your movie going experience. Spacious seats and friendly staff.
Great place to watch a movie and have dinner. The chairs are comfortable and can recline some. The sound system is good as well. The decor with in the hallways are retro and give a great ambiance to the place.
5 stars the only place I enjoy watching movies. Friendly staff good food. Great seats, I have some of the fondest memories attending Alamo draft house with my friends.
Pretty cool Alamo Drafthouse location. Love the lobby and the bar. They had some amazing posters in there too. Like with all their locations, the service and food was great. Highly recommend. Still has that new-ish look!
Nice theater, love the special screenings that this theater does i.e. Graveyard Shift, Alamo Film Club and the various screening of various films in 4K and for that along they should get 5 stars. But Several times I’ve order refills on refillable drinks and either never got my refill by the end of the fill or it takes 30 minutes to bring back a refill. Now I understand they get busy, this happens to my friends and I, during several screenings
If youve been to another Alamo Drafthouse then this place will meet your (high) expectations. If you havent then this is a great theater for when you want a truly quiet and immersive movie experience. They show relevant clips related to the movie during the pre-show. The trailers are limited and also in the same genre as the movie youre about to watch. All while serving you delicious food that you order on a small sheet of paper and put in the order holder at your seat. All the Alamo Drafthouse layouts are slightly different, and my minor complaints about this one are that the table is a little bit too far away from you while you eat (but the drink-holder location is great), and also there is no lower elevation for the servers when they take orders and deliver food, so you will briefly see them blocking the screen slightly. These are very minor complaints as the service is so excellent that any distraction is greatly minimized.
Awesome new location, I used to be a regular at their old location on mason until they moved down to LaCenterra. I have to say one of the best moves Alamo drafthouse could have done here in Houston. They new location is great, the lobby when you enter has a better appearance to it, along with the bar and outdoor seating that has been added on this location. the food is amazing and a bit bigger compared to their old location. Also another thing that is great is they have a bigger selection of draft beers now with 40 beers on tap. Would recommend this place to anyone who is looking to enjoy a great movie.
Love going to the movies at Alamo! The seating is comfortable and spacious and love being able to order food and drinks while watching the movie. The food is all pretty good and the drinks and cocktails are excellent. Love that when I do order their bottomless popcorn that you can get clarified butter on it! My favorite place to go to the movies!
Great place for a date night. Many restaurants around the area. Alamo even serves their own food. Prices are reasonable. Alamo has a style that you come to love. By the way the seats are amazing. Reclining leather chairs. This is actually one of the better Alamo Drafthouse Ive been to.
When you can get quality food in a comfortable theatre and they bring it to you that HAS to be 5 stars. Watched Ford vs Ferrari and it was great! The sound quality really helped the experience.
I loved the design of the theater and it’s location and La Cantera, but this was my first experience with food being served during the movie showing. We ordered food- I just ordered some water (and I never got it but I was caught up in the movie that I let it go)Food is pretttyyyy pricey and during the whole movie people kept bringing food, which was a big distraction for me.Overall loved the movie theater and the comfortable chairs.
This is my to-go movie theater even though it takes me over a 30 minute drive from my house. The food is always amazing! Come early to watch some one of a kind videos in theme with the movie you’re going to watch so coming early is always a must. This is a great place for dates but also an amazing place to bring friends and family. They also always come here before ever choosing another movie theater. Can’t wait to go for the IT chapter 2 showing with my family!
I LOVE coming here so much! I love the $5 Tuesday movie tickets. The food is decent. The service truly makes it worthwhile to keep coming back. They are attentive and the food/drinks come out very quickly.
The best iteration of an Alamo Draft House I have been to. Fun bar attached. Food is about what youd expect for theatre food, and I mean that in a good way. Light-years better than SMG. Same quirky feel of the old location. No better way to see a movie, including iPic.
Other than this being in a nice area, the food is subpar and the service is terrible. Both times I went, the waiter forgot about us. They also still use the old school method of standing a small sheet of paper to order. Studio movie grill has much better food, better seats, and have a call button at each seat instead of a sheet of paper.
Always add 20 minutes on your my travel time to find a good parking spot. Driving around there is treacherous. The events here are worth it and living miles from where the Vintage Park location its hard to find the right event to make it worth the trip.
Awesome theater. I really appreciate that they enforce their no phones and no talking rule. You really get your moneys worth here!
Awesome example of modern cinema. Food and drinks were good, and the seats were comfortable. I went to see Nosferatu with a live band, and that was whole new experience for me. The surrounding shops and restaurants are great for walking about before or after the movie.
We have been to the Alamo a lot and have enjoyed and had great service until today. Our server did not get our tab to us until the movie had about a minute left. I thought he had left it and I just didn’t notice because he was coming down our isle a lot and the people next to us had already gotten theirs. I took out my phone before he got there and lit the screen of my phone to see if it was on the table. It is so dark on the top of table that you can’t see without a little light. He then walked up at that time and proceeded to tell me to turn off my phone and stop talking on it. I absolutely wasn’t talking to anyone just trying to see if my tab was on the table. I do refuse to turn my phone completely off in the theater because I have elderly parents that i have to be available for if needed, but do put on silent so no way will it bother anyone. Then when leaving several people were standing there saying they never got their tab to close out. The theater was not full so I don’t know why they were having such a hard time. I do like that they have the policy of being quite and cell phones but come on.....when a person is using the light to see the tab.....keep your mouth shut. Worry more about the people that bring food in and rattle the the wrappers during the show more.
Got some premier tickets to see Klaus. The staff was super, before, during and after the movies. Thank you for the popcorn and drinks as well. As a family we had a great time. Will definitely make some time to visit again soon enough.
Im a huge fan of the draft house. As a lover of going to the movies and experiencing film at a theater in general, the draft house is a perfect place for that. The amount of respect and reverence they have for film is obvious from the moment you walk in. From the Easter eggs in the carpet and in the posters on the walls, to the creatively named foods and beverages, draft house shows you how much they care. The quality of the picture and sound is always excellent. The theaters are clean. The seats dont creak. The quality of their food is more hits than misses. The taco trio is absolutely delicious and the cookie trio comes out hot and delicious and chewy. The perfectly salty popcorn comes out in a massive bowl built for sharing. My only complaint is that at their older location the sodas came in huge cups to compliment the popcorn bowl, but those cups have been greatly downsized to what is essentially a medium size. Yes there are free refills, but it takes a little bit to get your refill. So you have to ask for one essentially when youre halfway through your cup so that you have a new one by the time youre done. The servers are excellent about staying out of the way of the screen. They bring the check at the appropriate time right in a lull in the film about 30 minutes from the end. Alamo has this down to a science. I highly recommend getting to the movies about a half hour in advance. Each movie has a tailored and curated 30-minute pre-show for each specific film that highlights actors and themes of the film. Definitely worth getting there early for. My only real complaint about this location is that its a pain in the butt to get to if youre coming anywhere south on 99. The traffic on that long stretch between West Park tollway and the draft house is brutal almost anytime of the day at this point. I just saw a movie on a Saturday afternoon and it was almost stop and go for a little bit. A. Saturday. Afternoon. So if youre in a reasonable distance to this place I definitely recommend going. they dont allow texting. They dont allow talking. Its the perfect movie going experience.
I enjoyed every movie Ive seen at Alamo. The food and service was excellent on every visit. I suggest a cereal party movie if you see a movie with kids.
The atmosphere is good and i wished all movie theatres had the quiet zone that they enforce. The previews and the little clips they present before the movie is good. The ordering is pretty good, not hovering but effective in taking orders without being disrupting. The staff even helped me find our seats. Overall, you should at least try it once.
Great place to watch movies. Comfortable seating. Only negative is the service feom the wait staff has went downhill lately.
Very nice movie theaters. Good food and drink selection. The restrooms were not very clean unfortunately.
Excellent location although the sign is a bit hidden. Convenient small lot in front but also garage parking directly attached behind the theater. The food was great, especially the crispness and freshness of the chips. Excellent service in the start however one of our appetizers didnt come out until we inquired (almost halfway through the movie) and after our main courses were done. The staff were very helpful holding onto our commemorative glasses through the movie. I would recommend this theater and visit here again.
Great food! Excellent service. Would give an extra half star. Only issue is the setup of the tables and seats.
The movies are the standard movies that are available every where. The prices are a little less than the standard theater, especially on Tuesdays. The food prices high (as expected). The food service is very good, the parking is available in the building next to it. However, the chairs are recliner, which is supposedly very comfortable, they are not comfortable at all. I had to get up and move around during a movie. Most likely, I won’t be going back.
Beautiful theater and good service. Disappointed that during several movies now I have been able to hear the movie next door. Distracting.
Love the theater.. Comfortable seats plenty of room.. Great location. Only 4 stars because service is not very good. Very hard to get your drink refilled. Tonight I didnt ever get the second drink order.
First time I came here to watch a movie. Parking space was limited but the theaters are spacious. I enjoy watching a movie and I cant wait to come back here for another movie release.
By far one of the best dine-in cinemas I have ever been to. GREAT staff, clean areas, fun atmosphere. Go to a movie party night, they are amazing and FUN!
Pros - Great movie theatre and great service. Ive always like Alamo Drafthouse and weve been going to other locations for years. This place is beautiful and kept immaculate. We had the Royal with Cheese Burger, Korean Tacos and Chicken Tenders. The tacos and burger were great. The tenders, not so much see below. They had a great selection of beers and the seats were very comfortable.Cons - The chicken tenders were mostly bread, dry and tasteless, Id steer clear of those. We also went opening weekend for one of the movies with a promo giveaway card, but we kept getting different responses from the staff when we asked about it. So if the movie has a promotion and thats something you really want, you may have to work a bit harder to get whatever it is. We just gave up asking after the third person.Overall, we liked place and we will be coming back. Id like to give it four and half stars, so I rounded up.
First time visiting and definitely wont be our last. We had an almost perfect experience that was only marred by food. First the price is incredibly reasonably and the theater is clean and well kept. The seating is very comfortable and relaxing as the movie goes on. The table is set high and away so you cant lay back and eat without risk of spills. The staff here was fast and friendly. They also didnt interrupt the viewing experience with loud voices or walking in front of the screen. Now comes one of the only unpleasant parts of our experience. The BBQ & Smoked Bacon Burger was terrible. The taste was not barbecue at all but an unpleasant, sour taste. The burger itself was well cooked but I would never order it again. The Carnivore pizza though was incredible. Thin crust and perfectly cooked with a subtle spice. A small pizza that fills you up. The popcorn was also fresh and crunchy and perfect with the clarified butter. Overall a fantastic experience and well deserving of repeated trips.
Good food and beer, but a little pricey. Also, the seats are nice, but have had better. Overall, still way better than your standard theater.
Favorite Theater to go. The food is really good. I like to go when they have classics or studio ghibli movies. Great service and experience.
Great atmosphere, good food, and good drink selection. If it wasnt so out of the way for me I would watch all my movies here.
Date night was very well spent here - movie theater was clean, well kept, small but comfortable, and food was delicious.I actually enjoy their way of taking food orders in the theater - you write down your order on a slip of paper and hold it upright at your table and a server will come by and pick it up. This reduces interaction during the movie and also ensures that they get your order right.Husband and I ordered their bottomless soda, mozzarella sticks, and hot chicken wings. I was VERY tempted to order more, but their food items are very pricey. I believe 3 chocolate chip cookies were $6.50! Our bill came out to $24 (excluding tip) but I cant really complain.. Id expect most movie theaters to overcharge you on their food items lolThe servers were polite - they came just before the movie previews and answered any questions we had. They were very punctual and whenever we had any requests - big or small - they came and took care of it immediately. This theater is a bit similar to Studio Movie Grill, but Id say Alamo is much better. There is some lighting underneath the table but nothing too distracting and the food quality is so much better.Although the theater is small, the picture and sound quality was pretty good. The recliner seats are a HUGE plus and made the movie very enjoyable.Great area - located in LaCenterra so after the movie, we were able to walk around and enjoy the local restaurants and shopping. We will definitely be back!
Always have enjoyed the Alamo Drafthouse cinema. My only complaint is trying to get in and out of the chairs. Must have been built to seat 120 pound kids not your average adults.
Best seats and the lounge is awesome.
Loved everything about my experience except the table layout. I liked the table layouts at the old Mason rd location a lot better. If you are heavyset its got to be hard to squeeze in and out of the seats without knocking stuff off the little tables they gave each seat. Staff was great at the location. Will be back and hope this location sticks around!
Nice people good place
Great place to watch a movie and eat some tasty food. Good quality video and sound, as well as great customer service. I will be back.
Alamo Drafthouse is the best theater in the Houston area. From great food, fun events and special screenings, and heavy enforcement of their no talking and no texting rule, Drafthouse never disappoints.
The Alamo Drafthouse is a perfect combination of many things. The prices are reasonable (for the most part) for movies, drinks, and food. The seating is very comfortable, although it might be a little harder for smaller children to see over the table. The food is delicious and the prices are what could be expected for this type of venue. The staff was very accommodating, professional and not at all intrusive while checking on you during the movie. The theater itself was very clean and well organized so it was easy to arrive, grab your tickets, and go to your respective theater. I will be going back and I would definitely recommend it to anyone.
Went to see a cat video festival here and it was an absolute blast. The theater is very comfortable and well maintained. The food and service is also great. For movie buffs, youll love the pattern of the lobby carpet.
My wife thought the tickets were at 8pm, but were really for 5pm. The staff modified our tickets since there was still seating, and we were able to still watch the movie. Most theaters would have told us to come back another day.
As a movie buff watching a film here is one of the best experiences you can get.
Went there for a Fifth Element themed movie party. The host was great, the props were fun and of course the movie was good. Seats are so comfortable, even for a big person like myself. The food was decent; better than I expect in a theater. Love the rules banning cell phones! Everybody was on their best behavior.
Never a complaint when I’ve gone here to see a movie. Enjoyable experience each time.
At this moment easily the beast theater for seeing movies in Houston. They dont let people talk during the movie or they kick them out, just raise a card. Slightly annoying to see waiters constantly in aisles but it its much better than having phones out. Good food and beer as well.
The servers were politely rude once my friend & I sat. I felt like I was back n elementary school w/server after server walking around saying put your phone away. It was on a mon, wasnt packed by any means. Plus the small lighting provided attached to the sitting was very faint. Doesnt really support those who may wear glasses, contacts or elderly etc. This behavior kinda ruined my show & experience. Second time felt this way at this location. Probably wont return even though I love the establishment.
I have never been to a better movie theater in my life. The whole staff is attentive and kind and that made the experience all the more reason to come back. I was fortunate enough to have worked here and at the Mason Park location and the whole team is passionate about what they do and it really shows. The management team is phenomenal and I can’t wait to come back to visit!Regards,Patricia Pepperman
Always worth the long drive from Houston. One of the best movie watching experiences in town.
When we arrived we were told the projector for our movie went out, so we had to see a different movie that wasnt very good and we had to sit in the handicapped seats that dont recline very much. We ordered the fish meal and got tiny pieces of fish. Halfway through the movie one of the workers turned the theater lights on. I placed an order card up for a milkshake and it took the server 30 minutes to come get my card and by the time I got my shake the movie was almost over. The service and food here has gone way down in quality. We usually spend around $100 between tickets, food and drinks and its just not worth it anymore.
All I can say is wow! Having popcorn, drinks and meal brought to my seat during a movie? It was GREAT!!!
Fantastic as always. I dont know if this is true or not, but I felt the sound here was one of the best. I find bigger main stream theaters to actually have worse sound systems or acoustics. Here at Alamo it was great. Seats are a bit tight to get in but its cool.
Great location! Since Alamo moved to LaCenterra, it has been very convenient to find a place to have lunch before the movie or dinner after the movie. Parking is no problem since there is a parking complex right next to the theater. I would recommend Alamo Drafthouse at LaCenterra for your movie experience. Their chairs are sooo comfortable, it even reclines and you can order food to be deliver so you dont have to leave your seat to miss anything. This is very important if youre watching any Avengers movies. Go, go and have fun.
Always worth a trip to Alamo. Show up early for Alamo specific pre show entertainment. Food, drinks, and service are always great here.
The best movie experience you can get. I will forever wait for the fabled opening of the Sugar Land location.
Great atmosphere and good service. One of the only theaters i frequent.
The place is super elegant high end. The bartender was very professional and very cool. the margaritas were super awesome. The food was delicious. It was a 5 start experience. I recommend this location.
This looks awesome! I went to see Willy Wonka in real life on my birthday.
