I love The Uptown! Ive seen everyone from The Killers to Babymetal to The Decemberists to The Flaming Lips. Gorgeous old building with beautiful facades and Frescos. Great lighting, great sound system, great location. Two bars located at either end of the venue. Multiple entrances into the auditorium with both built in seating and standing room for General Admission areas. Parking can be a pain during a sell out, but as of Sept 2019 adjacent lot to the north is being renovated and will hopefully solve that problem.

I’ve been to a couple of concerts at the Uptown, and I like the venue for the most part. The sound system is hit and miss, so I never know what to expect. I’ve done GA standing, and seating in the balcony and the back of the building on the first level. I don’t have a preference! — I noticed a heavy police presence at a rap concert I attended in January 2017, and I didn’t really like that.

I love this place for concerts. Its so much more intimate than normal shows. Love the old feel. They also sell good beer, which is a major plus. Couple of drawbacks are the parking situation (there is none) and that they will oversell a show and you could end up in a hallway. If at all possible, get there early for a great spot on the floor and dont give it up. Itll be worth it.

I have been to Uptown plenty of times for some bigger name concerts, but yesterday was my first time at their small Encore venue next door! It was very intimate, but just what you want for seeing smaller bands. The bar was super accessible so you didn’t miss the music and the prices were very reasonable. It reminded me a lot of what recordBar is like! Would definitely go again!

Loved the concert I attended, but too crowded for my liking. It was a sold out show so bound to happen, but wish there was more space and seating.. if I could do it again I would get seats a bit back from stage. Also, prepare to pay for drinks if you choose to buy at the concert. Lastly, staff was really helpful and friendly though!

Saw NF on “The Search” tour there recently. I love Uptown, the vibe is great. I’ve never had a problem with staff and security is always efficient when shuffling people into the venue. The venue has some floor seating and balcony seating as well but it is mostly general admission and everyone can stand up and move around in the main parts. It’s decorated very uniquely and they always put on a great show.

We saw Wynonna Judd and Tanya Tucker and the show was great. It felt close and personal. The sound was top drawer. And both living legends did not disappoint. The Uptown Theater was well staffed. Friendly service. And plenty of parking. The garage was under some construction, but parking was easy, free, and accessible. I would definitely return to see another show at the Uptown Theater.

Very cool venue! Bar in back is very chic with a broad drink selection. Set up well as far as traffic and parking even during large concerts. Inside of the venue is easy to navigate. There is seating in the back of general admission and an elevated seating option i believe. General admission floor slanted towards stage, and there are awesome acoustics. Also close to some other really cool places in town.

Getting out of the venue wasnt as easy as getting in- the funnel of people was hard to navigate. But, I enjoyed Uptown! It was my first time there and my first time seeing Bastille. The hubby and I have been to Uptown Theater twice now since moving back to the KC metro area in June 2019. This gem of a retro theater is a wonderful asset to the community! Our first visit was for a Logan Mize/Jill Martin concert. Logan and Jill are from areas near where I grew up so we had to support the hometown kids! Uptown Theater was a great venue for this type of concert. Tickets for this event were general admission only so you were able to choose to sit or stand throughout the concert. Obviously to be right up front nearest the stage one had to stand the entire time or risk losing their spot. Our second visit to Uptown Theater was to attend “Thundergong 2019”, our first time at this charity event. What a fantastic evening!! Tickets for THIS event were a choice between assigned seats or GA. We chose assigned seats but by the end of the evening had moved to stand in the GA area....even got fairly close to the stage at one point. So about Uptown Theater specifically.....I do not profess to be an expert in regards to this venue. It has obviously been around multiple decades given its architectural style and the visible “wear-and-tear”. While the wear-and-tear certainly adds to the charm, I caution the owners against allowing it to continue to deteriorate too much. I wouldn’t want to see a complete overhaul nor change to the design, perhaps just a freshening up however. ::insert polite, pleading look here::Both times the staff were friendly, the second time the female bartender who served us at the beginning of the evening was particularly kind and patient with my indecisive self.Oh, and a better explanation on their website of the parking situation and suggestions would be VERY MUCH appreciated!!!! Not rating the artist, but the venue:1. Absolutely amazing place with fast security and speedy check in.2. A/c seemed either not working or just turned off because it was one of the hottest venues ever been to. At one point they had to throw water bottles into the croud.3. Water/bathrooms were closed off after concert, everyone was pushed out of those areas which is expected but not being allowed to get a small sip of water after a hot 4 hours of jamming, standing and sweating seems unreasonable

This was my first time going to Comedy City so I didnt know what to expect. Its located in the same building as The Uptown Theater. Up a few flight of stairs and its tucked away in a cozy suite with tables and chairs and a bar. I didnt see seating up at the bar, but the server comes to your table before the show to get you started on food and drinks. The menu is limited to snacks such as popcorn, hot dogs and chips. As far as beverages, they have soda, bottled beer, wine and mixed drinks. The server was attentive throughout the show and soda refills are free. The popcorn is freshly popped and served in a large portion. Definitely count on sharing! Since the space is smaller than I would think for a place to hold a performance, the stage is close to the audience but it makes it fun and easy for the performers to engage the audience for participation. The improv performance was done well by people who love what they do, and it shows! Their personalities drew the crowd in and made you feel as though they were old friends who came to visit and make you laugh. Its an all ages show which makes it a nice family activity but they do have performances late at night for 18 and older on certain Saturdays of the month if you wish to do that with your friends. My son and I had a fun time and will definitely go back again. Thank you Comedy City!

The venue is beautiful and elegant. A couple seats fell a part near me (not the big of a deal, just a bolt needed to be tightened) and I got in a verbal altercation with 4 people who were drunk and telling racist jokes during the musicians acoustic sets, after a few other people asked them to stop laughing during the sets, but other than that, the venue was amazing. Also, if youre the 4 drunk people who were joking about how your sisters Mexican boyfriend isnt allowed to use your bathroom, and then threatened to punch me in the face after I asked you to not talk over the musician we paid to see, please contact me with your information so I can update this. I am positive everyone would find it as hilarious as you did during the middle of a quiet set.

The concert was excellent but the theater needs work. The arm of my seat was taped in and been taped so long didnt even stay on anymore with the tape. While has potential to be a beautiful theater it needs some love from the owner for sure. Also not sure if venue or band but sat right behind sound board (off to side so could still see stage fine) was all lit up and right as band was to come on stage board went dark which also means band played in dark for most of opening song. Was not planned as they mentioned after song that show must go on even with no lights. Before I would visit again would want to check if seats repaired or replaced, if not would take cost into consideration.

Shame that I have to do this. Been to many shows here and usually the experience is pretty good. I normally would not slam a place for a mediocre visit however between the mediocre experience at Griz and the bartender automatically adding a $2 tip that I did not authorize when purchasing six waters, I feel it is my duty to report this experience. I purchased a VIP ticket for Griz. The VIP area was in the front right corner behind the speakers which made the sound from the VIP area terrible. I spent about a total of 20 minutes in the VIP area because of the sound and also the view was terrible. I tried to see the show from other areas but it was a sold-out show and the body heat was stifling. I do understand that this was a somewhat last minute decision to move the venue from Crossroads in order to keep from rescheduling another show due to rain, (did not rain btw) but this is one of my very favorite artist and to walk away feeling the way I felt made it a poor experience for me. Had I been drinking alcohol all night long I may not have noticed the additional $2 charge on my card that I did not authorize. I always tip my bartenders, every single trip to the bar. It was only $2 but the principal.... I had already tipped in cash. This experience will make me reconsider how important the next artist is to me before I go again.
