We had our wedding at the Madrid last weekend and I cannot say enough good things about this venue! Aside from the fact that it is absolutely beautiful with a lot of the original features from 1925, the staff is just incredible. Missy came to our initial meeting well prepared and able to answer all of our questions. We decided to book the Madrid because it was obvious that she was good at her job and really cared about helping us have a special day. Past that, Missy constantly went above and beyond in her role of “day-of coordinator.” She was always happy to answer my endless questions and changes, she helped us put together a wedding day timeline that went flawlessly, and she made sure that we were well taken care of the day of. On top of everything that I’m certain Missy does for all couples, she made sure to help us space everything out so that our guests could social distance as much as possible. We asked our guests to wear masks so it was also very nice to learn that the Madrid staff was not only compliant, but had already adopted masks as a policy anyways. On our wedding day, I even got to meet the owners of the Madrid. They were there to help set up and were also extremely gracious with any requests that we had. The Madrid does have slightly higher prices than other venues in the area, but they’ve earned it. Every bit you spend will be well worth it. With all of the services that are included, they are much more competitive that it may seem at first glance. I couldn’t have imagined our wedding going as perfectly if we had done it anywhere else.
Trying to plan and then re-plan a wedding during a global pandemic is not an easy task as many of you might know. The Madrid Theatre was the perfect place to celebrate with a wedding reception. We had to move our initial date, and therefore got to know Missy and her staff quite well. She was always quick to respond and very helpful during the Coronavirus outbreak. The night of the reception she was like the energizer bunny running around and helping wherever she could. The space is large and very clean. Added pluses included two separate spaces, a stage, two bars, sanitized restrooms, a personalized marquis, and a well secured and safe environment. I highly recommend the Madrid as a fabulous event space in Kansas City.
Madrid Theatre was absolutely PERFECT! My whole wedding reception was a dream come true. Madrid was very easy to work with, especially during the pandemic and having to reschedule. We highly recommend
When trying to decide on our wedding venue, my fiance and I were blown away by the interior at the Madrid. You can really tell that there is history there, from the intricate ceiling designs to the fountain when you first enter the lobby. It was also wonderful that we could have our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception all in one location. Missy, the Madrids event planner, made sure that everything ran smoothly and I didnt have a single concern the day of. I cannot recommend a venue more!
Beautiful! Attended a wedding and reception there. Great venue and service.
My review is complex. Id like to give 5 stars to the stage crew and the band that I saw, heck Id give seeing them a 10, but the venue is while very pretty, it is in need of repairs and updating. I would love to host any mild event in this venue, but I would not recommend a metal show here until some of the ceilings issues are at the very least resealed. I loves coming here, the stage was a little high for my 5 tall self, but it was very manageable. This is my second time here and Id definitely go back, but I also suggest some renovations be in the very near future. The group I saw this time was Tennis. 10/10 would go to their show again.
Stunning venue! Thanks to Missy and Lindsay and the rest of the staff for being so accommodating. Ive DJd here a few times and every time I come back theyve done an upgrade. FANTASTIC JBL Vertec series house system. I used my RCF to DJ but I know theyve got the sound covered in there if you need it. Everything was clean and the staff was busy all night accommodating the guests. Great job team!
The Madrid Theatre was our wedding Venue and we couldnt be happier with the quality, service, and professionalism given to us! Missy was our wedding coordinator for the day and helped us up until the day and even after as we wrapped everything up! The space was perfect for our large guest list where we occupied both main floor and the upstairs! It has such a beautiful space were decor was very minimal on our end! We highly recommend this space for any future weddings!
We had my nieces quinceniera here. It was beautiful and the staff was great! Highly recommend it.
Great venue! I wish the parking was a little easier, but not a huge deal. We opted for tickets on the balcony and the little cocktails tables up there were a great way to enjoy the concert with a unique view.
We ADORE the Madrid. The staff is great at what they do and are amazing folks to work with. Its a perfect spot for a wedding! You cant beat the theater look, the history, the amazing stage and the marquee out front with your names on it.
Great concert with nice seating on the balcony. Standing room only close to the stage. They had a bartender and drinks available for purchase. The Cory Wong Band was awesome!
A great concert tonight, Eric Johnson! The acoustics were great and the show was awesome tyvm, I will come back
Nice place. Great music
Great venue for an intimate concert. I love going here
Have done our Barts Electric company Christmas party at the Madrid Theater for the past 3 years. They are fantastic to work with, have a beautiful and historic venue, and treated us just right. Enjoyed working with Missy and they treated us fantastic.
Great venue. Had a wedding reception there and it couldnt have been better. Highly recommended.
I love this venue. Its the perfect most intimate theater in Kansas City. Great sight lines, excellent acoustics, super friendly staff. They even have more parking than they used to. I have seen like 50 shows here and it always amazing. I think this place mainly does wedding receptions and private events and I bet its perfect for that as well.
Lovely venue for a wedding. A relative was being married there. Thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere and beauty if the decor.
Space Jesus was a blast fun venue
The Madrid and everyone involved were amazing. Our wedding was beautiful and well managed. We had our own team or friends/family helping but Missy, the event coordinator, took care of everything we didnt think of from the moment we booked with them, until the moment the night was over. If we needed something the day of, she had it. If we didnt think of something, Missy did. Her and her staff were wonderful. The owners of the place also apply to all of the above statements. We had upwards of 215 guests and The Madrid took care of all of them in the most beautiful venue we couldve hoped for. Weve heard from many of our guests that our wedding was the most beautiful and fun wedding they had been to and The Madrid was a huge reason for that. Thank you so so much!
Gorgeous theatre. Made a beautiful venue for wedding reception.
This was a beautifully restored little theater! Easy to find and easy to access FREE parking! The inside was gorgeous and it was an intimate venue to see one of my favorite musicians Pete Yorn! The bathrooms were immaculately clean too. I dont drink any more but the bar was well stocked and the staff very helpful. I hope to see more concerts here in the future!
This place has really good shows here, just not very often.
Ive been to two concerts here and one wedding. This venue is gorgeous. The sound is this place is phenomenal. If you can afford the balcony seats, do it. It enhances the experience. The bar is reasonibly priced, and the drinks are great.I will be returning to the Madrid for shows, often.
I experienced the Madrid Theatre for the first time last night. My wife and I saw Cory Wong in concert. A day before the event, I emailed the staff with some questions and got prompt replies. I was concerned about parking. I was indormed that with smaller events, there is plenty of parking. For larger events, parking can get tight. If I was going to attend a big event, I would park somewhere safe and Uber in. I was able to find many spaces in one of the designated parking lots across the street. I also asked about bringing a camera in. Cameras with removable lenses are not allowed, so I had to leave my camera at home. The venue is very nice and well kept. For this event, the lower level was for general admission and there were no chairs. I purchased tickets for seating and we were located on the balcony. We had a perfect view and lots of room. I dont think there are any bad seats in the house. The upper level bartender was great. She made good drinks and was friendly. The drinks are a little pricey in my opinion, but not a big deal because we dont drink very much. The upper level mens restroom was clean and even smelled good!Although Cory Wong was wonderful, I felt like the venue had a lot of echo and maybe some sound dampening would have helped. My only real gripe was with the security company the venue uses. Upon arrival, we had to empty our pockets and be scanned with metal detectors and they looked in my wifes purse. They noticed that I had a package of M&Ms in my coat pocket and they made me throw it away. They said no food or drink is the rule. I understand that, but are M&Ms really a problem? The venue doesnt sell food, so I was a little upset about that. Its nice to have security, but this seems like overkill to me. We attend many music events in Kansas City, and have never had to go through this. I dont blame the security staff, they were professional and they were just doing their job.The overall experience was great, especially after I got over the M&M issue! I would highly recommend this venue for small concerts and will return if any other bands that I want to see play there.
This is a great small venue for live music. I understand it is mostly used for wedding receptions.I went to a concert and loved it
So happy we picked Madrid Theatre for our wedding reception. This place is stunning. They have a grand staircase with a fountain in their entryway that is beautiful. Madrid Theatres rental packages are a great value and our guests had a great time at our reception!
Beautiful place to see a show! Please bring Cory Wong back!!
Nice building for your events, parking is leaving.
Our wedding reception was a dream come true. We couldnt have been happier with the venue and the customer service. The day was stress free and the whole reception ran smoothly. Highly recommend Madrid Theatre for a wedding reception!
When looking for a wedding venue we knew we were looking for a venue with character. Madrid Theatre has it all...romantic, charming and historic. All our guests had such a great time at our reception. Just wished the evening could have lasted longer.
We cannot thank enough the Madrid and specifically Missy for the exceptional job they did. We definitely couldve not picked a better place. It was nice to have a venue that offers an all-inclusive. Reducing the number of vendors was key. The venue itself is beautiful and everyone still talking about how pretty it was. Missy and crew did a phenomenal job making our life easy before and the day of. VERY happy with this place. Congratulations to the Madrid for the amazing job done.
Picking Madrid as our reception venue was pretty easy. The theatre is beautiful and Missy the wedding coordinator is wonderful! She was easy to communicate with and did a wonderful job helping us plan the perfect wedding reception for our day. Guests loved the venue and of course the open bar! Would not have changed anything about our day! Thank you Madrid!
BEAUTIFUL on the inside. Terrible acoustics though. Live music sounds horrible here.
It was a great venue for a concert. Had a awesome atmosphere.
Good place to see Quiet Superstars like Gary Numan
Great wedding venue! From the beginning to the end every detail and moment was exactly as we had envisioned. Missy was so wonderful and helpful throughout our planning process and we are forever grateful for a perfect wedding reception and a perfect day!
I had my wedding reception at Madrid Theatre in October and it was amazing! The venue was beautiful and had more than enough room for the 250 guests that attended. Missy (event coordinator) was so fun to work with and made the whole process so easy. Even guests at my reception made comments about how well organized and on top of everything Missy was. She contacted every vendor for us and made sure everything was delivered on time and set up prior to our event. I cannot name one thing that I would have changed about the entire night. I would and will recommend the Madrid to anyone who is looking to have their wedding ceremony and/or reception in Kansas City (any type of event for that matter!).
Cool place
Looking good, Madrid! Nice sound! GA good... upgrade for really swank balcony seats (tables and an incredible view of stage)! Staff are phenomenal!! Polite and want you to have a good experience!
Very beautiful place for a wedding/reception. Staff were all friendly and professional. There is very limited parking in their parking lot.
Very intimate concert venue. Was great for edm. Security moved at a snails pace though. But I do not reflect that on the venue directly.
Loved Missy and the Madrid Theatre! The venue is unique which everyone loved and Missy was great! We planned our wedding remotely and she was very accommodating and helpful, responding to our emails in a timely manner and setting up times that worked for both us. We did an Indian wedding there and it worked very well!
Just drove 3 hours to come to a James TW concert only to find out once the concert has started that he wasn’t coming and he had been replaced... would’ve been nice to know before driving all this way and spending all the money.
The Madrid was nice for our work rally. I wish theyd hire me to do their interior design work. I wish the antique ceiling could be repaired properly. Knowing the history, its original decor is so poorly understated and badly needs repair. It could be stunning again. Actually, I would do the work for barely nothing just for the love of the architecture.
Super cool spot. Saw the Claypool Lennon Delerium and Ill go back if another solid show pops up.
The Madrid was a beautiful event space and all of our guests seemed impressed and enjoyed the space immensely! Missy was good to work with and they took care of a lot of the little details like serving cake and bussing tables. All in all, it was a really positive experience!
Great venue and cool owners.
Beautiful wedding venue with bars on both floors
Attended a concert last night and my 19 year old son was charged $2 at door for being a minor. I explained our entire family did not consume alcohol and would probably drink water. Were still charged and our tickets were over $200. Employee explained thats how bartenders make their money. I wish Icould charge someone who didnt order my services. They call it a minor charge, but I thought it was major. Now we are being penalized for making healthy choices. Why not charge the drunk chick who is dancing upfront and bumping into people? I wont be in this venue anytime soon. Proud my 19 year old son wasnt carrying a fake ID on him to drink. NEVER HEARD OF SUCH A RIDICULOUS IDEA.
Having our receptions at The Madrid Theatre was absolutely perfect. We looked at several venues, but knew this was the one when we walked in! The venue includes it all; tables, chairs, lights, center pieces and the best part, Missy!Missy and her team made our planning and evening even better. From planning to the day of Missy was on top of it all. We felt like royalty at our reception, we were basically waited on and anything we needed was there! We could not recommend The Madrid more!
Wonderful venue. Very comfortable, great sound and the staff was friendly. Id definitely see another show there!
Our experience at the Madrid Theatre was absolutely phenomenal. The venue itself is so tasteful that you cannot believe your eyes. We knew this was the venue for us the moment we walked in. The fact that it includes drinks, tables, chairs, decorations, other miscellaneous items is a massive bonus. It leaves you more time to focus on what is important.A huge bonus is that it comes with Missy! She is basically your wedding planner and helps you along the way. Missy corresponded with the florists, the caterer, the cake person, the band, etc. She does it all! I never felt stressed because she was always throwing in and helping. The big day comes and she is available to open up the venue and let you drop off supplies. I went by multiple times to leave stuff for the wedding so she could set it up. Just amazing. The venue was stunning for our reception and the drinks were flowing. Everything was just right. The lighting was beautiful and the decor was fantastic. Wedding planning is a lot of work but the reception was so awesome it made it worth it. YOU WANT YOUR WEDDING AT THE MADRID. You even get a cool marquee for your big day. You basically get to have your own concert on your wedding day. HOW AWESOME IS THAT.The price is fantastic and there are multiple options for every budget. You can do just beer and wine or you can ball out and go top shelf. Missy is so helpful at narrowing down the contract and getting to the final dollars. She is really responsive and helpful. Other venues nickel and dime you. At the Madrid, it is in one and done!
Only been there once, but I absolutely love the venue! I wish we had more shows here!
Incredible venue, the security is friendly and thorough. really one of the best places to see a show in Kansas City. Almost all areas of the general admission seem intimate with the artist.
Fun night - Band of Angels gala at the Madrid theater
We could not have asked for a more beautiful venue than The Madrid Theatre. It was the very first place we looked -- and we knew the moment we walked in, that this was it! From the early stages of planning, up to the very last detail, Missy was incredible. We had our ceremony and reception here, and the flow between the ceremony, to the cocktail hour and flip for the reception was seamless! We utilized the stage with a great band, used the grand staircase for family photos, and the guests never had a wait for a drink at the beautiful Spanish bars. All of our guests said they wanted to all get married again, and use this event space! Missy and the staff were just the absolute best to work with! I highly recommend this venue, and Missy to anyone wanting that beautiful, perfect wedding day.
Cool event space. Like the upper deck seating
Great concert venue for up close and personal experience.
Great atmosphere! The reserved tables upstairs were nice but they let some GA ppl up there and I couldnt see the stage. Also it was hard to see anything the way the tables were stacked behind each other. Next time Ill buy right at the front. Sound was better downstairs too.
Awesome small venue great place to see a show.
Attended a wedding at the venue. Great space with room for tables on the main level and in the balcony. Bar on main and balcony as well. Minimal decorations were used, but it still looked great because the venue is that beautiful. Ive never attended a concert or other event there, but would like to. Great wedding venue. Not sure if the venue catered or not. Didnt love that aspect.
Saw The Record Company on 9/25/18 Great Show. Will add this venue to check for live shows. We had a hi-top table in the balcony and it was incredible.
Well, we are still smiling and hearing compliments from so many on our son and daughter in laws wedding reception at Madrid. It is every parents dream to give their children the wedding celebration of their dreams... Our dream came true this past weekend and it is largely because of the Madrid venue, Missy and staff. We began our planning months ago with Missy and her coordination, professional and detailed organization was phenomenal. She is so very calming, attentive, conscientious and experienced. The wedding reception celebration success was largely due to her!!!More thank yous go out to the Madrid owners and staff – who were all working their tails off throughout the whole day making sure that everything was perfect. The attention to direction and detail was so appreciated. The day would not have been so perfect without the Madrid. With a tear in my eye, a smile on my face and a lump in my throat - thank you for everything that you did to make the wedding so amazing and memorable for all of us.
Bathroom was clean, sound system was pretty good, it can hold fancy and trashy venues, the bar was over priced, pleanty of room to dance and run around. The security was good, parking was okay, buying tickets on Ticketmaster is awful and overpriced. I had a decent time
I was there for a fundraiser. The facilities were nice. It was a little dated in some areas and some of the flooring was interesting, but I think those may be updated soon. The layout is pretty good.
Beautiful venue. Hosts great medium sized shows.
Nice little place to go see a concert up close. Only holds around 500. Saw concert there and was 5 rows back from stage. You might as well been on the stage. Highly recommend. But get your seats at least 4 or 5 rows back, or youll have neck pains looking up. Lol
Beautiful, spacious space. Wonderful place for any event!! Definitely recommend having events here
Small venue in historic building.
Theatre was ok. Have to pay for water even when not drinking. Parking was terrible but I understand for the area there arent many places.
Absolutely NICE PLACE TO HAVE A GREAT TIME! 02/21/2019- KIDS WENT! TO SEE SPACE JESUS!
Its seen better days. Been here for many events over the years, nothing ever changes. Needs updated severely. Oh, and take down the Christmas icicle lights.
My prom was here in 2017 and I LOVED IT!!
We first visited the Madrid Theatre soon after our engagement. We booked our reception the first time we visited! We used the balcony level for a cocktail reception before everyone went downstairs to the main level for dinner and dancing. Our wedding day was absolutely perfect! Madrid Theatre is the best!
Came here from out of town for a concert with friends of mine. We reserved cabaret seats because we wanted a balcony view and thought it would be nice to be able to sit during the concert. We made it though security fast. Everyone was really courteous. I was worried that people were going to be in our seats. But there was security walking around checking tickets. The view from the seats were just perfect. I as worried that the seats would be small and uncomfortable but they were large and well cushioned. The sound of that place was amazing. I wish we had a venue like this where I live!
So much fun at Cuco!
Nice place Ill be back!
I want allowed to take in a purse, but there was no sign stating that and it wasnt announced until 5 minutes before the door opened. Had to run back to car to return purse. I paid extra to get a reserved seat. These seats were so far from the edge of the balcony that you couldnt see the stage. It was definitely not what was represented when I bought the tickets. I was really disappointed with the seats. Also, I paid $11 for hot beer. Bar guy said it was because the lines were still warm. Well then, run some cold beer through before selling one.The whole thing seemed like an unorganized cluster.
We were there for a concert. The venue was beautiful and the concert sounded great but the staff would not do anything about the obnoxious, loud noise coming from the back of the theater. People were talking and laughing so loud throughout the entire concert that someone in the audience literally yelled “will you shut the hell up?!?” in between songs. Concert goers were shushing people and even the singer on the stage shushed them but they continued to make a ton of noise. The staff did nothing to control it. Disappointing experience that could have been amazing.
I was skeptical walking in to the place. The parking is non existent, but KC has a systemic parking issue. That is the only bad thing I can say bad about this venue. The acoustics are great. There is a balcony if you want to spend a few extra dollars. The staff is quick and friendly. I look forward to the next opportunity to see a show here.
Wonderful wedding venue, great staff.
Great place to see a show
Great venue for live music
The place is breathtaking! Kind and knowledgeable staff, and I was just a bystander.
Great venue. Very clean and well kept! I would give them five stars, but for some reason they wouldnt let anyone under 21 purchase a water bottle.
Really awesome place! Great space for a concert, good sound and sight lines. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. I would highly recommend for any type of concert and it would be amazing for a wedding!
We went to a folk music show here, where the average age of the concert goer was 45+ and they didnt provide chairs. Then they hired a man to tell people not to sit on the floor by the wall. I watched one guy in clearly bad health leaning against walls to rest his legs and looking pained. This is after having to park a mile away and wait in line for forever while they wanded everyone, because, you know, those folk music fans and their guns.
A classic venue for a party or wedding reception
Great venue for concerts or events. Amazing history too...as it was a former movie house built by Howard Hughes
Great venue for an intimate show.
Lovely wedding reception venue!
Good accoustics, decent venue just a bit smaller than the uptown.
Excellent venue! Weddings, parties, anything. And bongo jams are a specialty. Saw The Cramps tear it up there in May 2003.
Excellent venue, beats the overcrowded over hyped bigger venues in the city
Came here to see Taking Back Sunday. Nice small venue, no matter where you are youre close to the act. Great bar, upper level seating is where its at!
Handed tickets to see Galactic Friday night. Great music from a New Orleans band I never saw. N.O. My second favorite city.
