Nice venue for a concert. Well stocked bar. Clean restrooms. Check-in was easy. Helpful staff. Only complaint was the seating. Very uncomfortable after 150 minutes. But I understand the seating for this venue. No seating for some events, so its folding chairs.

Large venue space, the bass gets overpowering the closer to the stage you get. They are pretty lax when it comes to things like crowd surfing and throwing inflatable Alligators. A performer(Kitten) even climbed into the rafters and dropped down. Paramedics are also very friendly, and staff will do their best to help with any issues you have(ie. Broken glasses).

I thought it was a great venue for Blue October tonight. The sound was great all night. People were lined up at the main bar in one long line for one bartender, even though there was another one. After I skipped the line and went over there, I let others know to do the same. Bartenders were friendly, bathroom was clean, overall I enjoyed The Truman. I cant wait to come back and check out whatever is upstairs... Or get closer to the front

Today was my first time at The Truman and it is now one of my favorites and it was easy to find and the staff was very friendly. I also noticed the place was very clean including the restrooms! Also security looked on point and professional the whole time, even when the drunks got crazy. Id also like to add that I really like the no smoking indoors rule. It definitely made our experience more enjoyable.

Just saw Periphery and Veil of Maya tonight 2 OCT. Everyone from the staff, to the security to the crowd were absolutely awesome. Minor sound issue in the A list loft but the upstairs bartender and the crew bent over backwards to get it fixed and did an amazing job. Extremely clean venue, very well done by everyone, couldnt have been more happy!

Did you guys know you can rent this place out for a wedding or party? The price is reasonable. This venue is so beautiful and spacious and it was our first time visiting the Truman. My girl and I had a blast checking out the bars inside, seeing the green rooms and also the mezzanine. We explore some more and theres plenty of room for a dance floor and to have your tables for your guests, especially for a wedding party. They have a nice huge stage where you can have a band and also room for the bridge and groom party. I really enjoy this place and they have plenty of bathrooms so you dont have to worry about a line that much. Only con I see is probably parking. It can be a challenge but theres plenty of side parking around the area. Also, this place have like live concerts. I cant wait to check out their concert and review it next time.

Very clean and organized venue. The bartenders were very nice and were very quick during a rush. The staff was very nice and knowledgeable regarding the event and venue. Limited parking so plan ahead and prepare to walk, but The Truman does accommodate as much as possible for this. I was very impressed and will happily attend more concerts here.

This is one of my favorite concert venues in KC. They have a giant fan to keep it cool, easy to reach bars, super clean and huge bathrooms and I have never felt super overwhelmed or uncomfortable. Plus the bands are always great! I love when one of my favorite bands comes to The Truman!

The sound is pretty solid for being an old tire shop converted to a concert venue. The lighting leaves a bit to be desired but if you love shows with a lot of red/orange lighting this is the spot for you. The venue staff and security are always friendly and helpful - even going so far to turn a blind eye to crowd surfers and moshing despite plenty of signage stating both are not allowed.

Great venue to see and hear your favorite bands. Not too small, not too big. No elaborate decor or fake nostalgia. The bars are functional rather than fancy. Top quality sound and you are never far from the stage. Did I mention the sound is great? Thats my #1 criteria for a live music venue and The Truman has nailed it!

This is on of my favorite local concert venues. They have clean bathrooms, plenty of bars, great service, a coat check for cold days, sells earplugs for $1 for those of us trying to save whats left of our hearing. Ive never been to a show here where the temperature was unbearable. They always keep it warm enough in the winter and cool enough in the summer. I am actually more inclined to see a band I was on the fence to see if their show is here because the venue is so welcome and comfortable.

Big open concert venue thats clean! Flat concrete floor, long side balcony, moderately high platform for performers that makes them relatively easy to see if theyre standing and/or youre not behind tall people. Not really any seats, with the exception of a handful in the balcony and at the front bar. There are bars at on both sides as well as at the front, and one of them has a cold case if you want to grab a sandwich. Drinks are pricy. If you dont mind not seeing the performer, the music is definitely loud enough to still hear at the front entry area. Restrooms are big and clean. No re-entry upon admission. Be sure to check the list of items not permitted, as youll be checked before entering. Theres a little will-call window just as you enter. Staff have been nice, although sometimes theres confusion/miscommunication about how to handle VIP-types of tickets. This venue has attracted some solid performers and its definitely worth checking out.

For a new venue i expected more. Its very small inside, Is pretty shabby for being brand new they could have remodeled alot better. Its in a very gheto location, and the bartenders seem inexperienced and very light with the alcohols especially for 12$ for a mixed drink. I ordered a double and couldnt even taste the liquor.. i do have to say the only reason i gave them three stars is because the sound quality is pretty amazing, but for the price of everything and how small the venue is, and the lack of service for the price, i probably wont be attending anymore shows here.

This venue is awesome! I was at a sold out show and the giant fans overhead kept the place nice and cool. Although the property was at capacity it didnt feel like we were in there like sardines. Great sound, decent sightlines which are the most critical parts of a venue.2 gripes:1.) The VIP area has very bright lights that arent on a dimmer, and stay on the whole show. So it feels kinda like youre in an Applebees instead of a concert upstairs.2.) They shut down the bathrooms immediately after the show ended. So you have to choose between enjoying the curtain call, or not peeing your pants on your ride/walk home.

This is my new favorite venue for a concert. It isn’t so large that you get lost and unable to see the entertainer that you paid to see, but not so small that you feel crammed in as the sake of the venue’s paycheck. The wife and I saw Sir Sly and Joywave here a few weeks ago. The venue was very nice and let the early people form the line inside because it was cold out. The amenities were nice. We only bought water from the bar, but the prices seemed fair. It was pretty intimate and had a nice atmosphere in my opinion. The only real negative I can point out is the sound system. It wasnt nearly as clean or loud as most venues we attend. The bass hit pretty hard, but the vocals were very muddy. To the point you couldnt make out the lyrics. If they upgraded the sound system this would be a truly awesome venue. Parking was easy. The staff was very friendly. If you get there early enough there is free parking on the street just a half a block down.

Bartenders lie and bouncers are rude. Venue is fine, but don’t spend any money at the front bar, I was ripped off after the show... I am from out of town and attended a show, having a great experience until I went to the front bar on my way out. I ordered a very expensive round of over priced Tank 7s for my entire crew after validating with the the bartender that we would be able to finish them. This is my typical post show strategy to make a plan with the crew and avoid standing in the freezing cold in sweat soaked light clothing. Only to have the bouncer come through 3 minutes later and demand we throw away our drinks and leave. I tried to reason with them but they didn’t care. Don’t get any drinks here after a show... go somewhere else.
