Great set of trails for trail walkers, very cool nature throughout the trail. There was a stop at the Nazareth College grave yard. Cool seeing the many people ofnfaith that have served and memorials made there. Trails are narrow and there are pretty significant hills in places. Also a worthy note is there are no public restrooms so plan accordingly if you bring little ones. Very worth the trip however.
The Sisters of St. Joseph donated this land many years ago. My family and dogs have walked this area hundreds of times over the years and it never gets old. The amount of different types of birds you will see is amazing. The best part is that it is minutes from Gull Rd (city) but yet it feels you are in the country. Plus my daughter loves to play in the creek.
Very nice area which includes marshland, lowland prairie, White Pine and Oak forest trails. Now the down side. They need to put maps at least at the entrance. The trails are marked with colored diamonds but there is no explanation as to where they go or how far. The paths arent long tho so backtracking wont wear you out.
Great place to walk! Kind of hard to find the entrance if you’ve never been there, the turn in will come up quick so you have to be looking for it. Lots of paths to walk on and a cool look out point
I grew up walking here with my family and our dog. Back then it wasnt an official nature preserve, but just a cool trail behind my elementary school. Im so happy this is now an official nature trail people can enjoy!
Great place for a nature walk. Has nice benches and a scenic lookout near the entry, making it good for people with limited mobility.
I absolutely love it! Its beautiful and the perfect mixture of sun and shade for the hot days
This is a gem hidden in plain sight. If youre not looking for it, one can drive right by and not even know its there. Bow in the Clouds is a free nature preserve behind what used to be the historic Nazareth College (which now is no longer). With the trail cutting through streams, forests, wetlands, and even a boardwalk - Bow in the Clouds is an unmissable opportunity to see wildlife minutes from downtown Kalamazoo. Me and the fam saw a herd of deer, ducks, Eastern Bluebirds, and even a Northern Bobwhite quail. This place is great for birding and trailing, or just to get some peace and serenity.
Its awesome that the preserve is here and its very pretty, but the boardwalks are almost completely over grown right now and its really hard to tell if you are stepping on the boardwalk or about to step into the marsh. Id say its a bit dangerous to traverse right now because of that. Took pictures of some of the pretty parts of the walk. Didnt think to take pictures of the boardwalk.
Super nice nature trails. Improvements since the last time I was here.
Surprisingly wonderful hike with ups and downs, woods and marshes, wildflowers and ferns. Lots of vegetation and reasonably well marked paths especially if you check the website for a map. Only a few miles from home. Wow!
Peaceful nature outlook with active wildlife to be seen.
Beautiful area! Great for hiking, dogs, and families! But not so good for running. I tripped multiple times lol and even fell.
So beautiful!! The trail is definitely a medium to hard level, wild flowers everywhere! A gorgeous stream with a bridge over it, roots exposed in many places on the path. If youre bringing a little one, Id use a carrier, the path is too narrow and tricky in many places for a stroller. It gets muddy in wet weather, real muddy, and its still perfect and beautiful even then. Definitely bring bug spray. Im not sure who maintains this preserve, but they do an awesome job.
Great hidden gem! Doesnt look like much from the parking lot, but trails go through a beautifully diverse and maintained wetland. Great trail for young kids too!
Nice walking trails. Good loops to walk with the children. There are some trails that go from Marsh level up to Nazareth spiritual center via steep worn trail stairs. They are marked closed due to erosion at the top but not from the bottom.
Nice easy walk in the woods and over wetlands.
This is a restful, quiet place for a walk or for daydreaming. It’s usually very secluded and serene.
Really great park tucked away right off one of the busier roads in town. Definitely will visit again.
Bow in the Clouds nature preserve os a nice little set of trails that are open to the public. The ecosystem is diverse with a small stream, low wooded interior and high walls on the backside that butts up to The Sisters of Nazareth.
Wow! This property is gorgeous.
Beautiful and quick for evening hikes after work!
Only a few trails, but the small walk is still very scenic with boardwalks.
Beautiful little hidden gem. Lived around here for years and never knew this was here! Would be helpful to have periodic trail markers as it could be easy to get turned around if you are not familiar with the trails. Be prepared if you take the swamp route during mosquito season!
Cool area, lots of walking paths!
We love to bring our dogs here it is so beautiful all year long.
What a lovely walk through nature. Pathways could be better marked, but still a little bit of everything to see along some preserved and restored wetlands.
A wonderful shorter trail system just minutes from downtown. An eastside treasured get away. You can see an overall view of the marshland from the newly built overlook. This is easily accessible from the trail head. But the trails vary from wooded, to marshland. Wildlife varies, but birds can always be seen/ heard, especially in the marshlands. So if you need a quick escape, this is a really pretty hike. Trails are well maintained. Enjoy! *Update*Trail has been fairly over grown as of late(7-16-19)*
Well marked trails, lots of options for walks
Beautiful, typically quiet place.
Beautiful natural area.
Nice place..Great walk.
Its a great nature preserve, but Id be careful when taking children and especially dogs there, lots of ticks! Our dog ended up with at least 10 ticks that we noticed before they buried their heads and then 1-2 that had buried after we were home and did a more thorough search. Overall great place!
Nice place. Took about an hour to walk blue and white trails. Parts of the boardwalk are a little squishy. Didnt see a lot of wildlife, but couldve been the time of day. Heard a lot of birds.
Amazing walk through the woods. Birds, butterflies, dragon flies. Beautiful marshland with all types of exotic looking wetland foliage and birds. A new favorite!
The Southwest Michigan Land Conservancy has done considerable work here. The trail is a hidden gem for us. This trail, while not long, has many twists and turns and seems longer while walking. Significant work has been done on clearing invasive species growth which opens up even more viewing vistas. Highly recommended!! Thanks SWMLC
Amazing trails, never fails to take my breath away!
Great private walking areas. Usually very well maintained.
Small preserve. Nice creek going through it though. I went in spring but I suspect in summer it would be thick with mosquitoes as it goes through marshes
Peaceful place
Beautiful gem near downtown Kalamazoo. Highly recommend! Great trails through the area and dog friendly! ️
Great for a quick hike. Moderate hills.
Amazing walking trails and dock paths
A great place to hike in Kalamazoo
Very peaceful area for walking.
Really great place for hiking and exploring. Some of the trails are a little overgrown and narrow but that adds to the adventure! There is a great bog area with a few board walk trails snaking across that adds some variety to your walk. Its a lovely place to walk.
Not a bad place, trails are just too short for my liking.
I like this because it is natural and well preserved nature.
Beautiful and extensive trails! Im excited to see how the SW Land Conservancy will develop this property.
A nice little nature preserve, with a lot of nature and beautiful scenery.
A wonderful nature preserve with great location and beautiful views. Trails are clean and well defined. Best place for a picnic or walking the dog. On leash please!
Beautiful quiet place to get out in nature! A sign indicating which trail leads to the stream for example would be helpful. We did family photos and an individual shoot here. Nice setting for those.
Its a little walking park. Shaped in a figure eight style. Small but lovely.
We went with our 18 month old son. We loved the many paths to walk on and crossing the small streams. I cant wait to visit later in the spring when the trees arent bare. Some of the trails were a bit weathered and didnt look defined but that could have been due to the season.
The most beautiful place in n Kalamazoo. Wetlands forests and fields it has it all.
Nice little place. Trails are not long at all though.
Hidden gem
Recently discovered this geocache. Its a magnificent nature preserve open to the public located behind the rehabilitation center. Long narrow walk ways and some hiking through woods. I would recommend closed towed shoes and bug spray. But, the trails are well kept and the locations are breathtaking.
In my opinion its one of the best.
Great hidden little trail. Once you get in you do not hear the traffic. Good place to start hiking, or just taking a stroll.
Soo pretty
Great place peaceful walk through nature lots of smells for my dog
Very pretty! Please go here and check it out!
Board walk is amazing. So many fluffy green sedges and joepye weed
Brings me back to real nature.
Hiking trails straight out of heaven!
Very beautiful. cant wait to go back and take more pictures
It was a nice little nature hike that the kids could play on a natural play ground at the end of
Sparsely used, soothing, natural paths through woods and marsh. I wouldnt hate it if it was a bit bigger, like Al sabo.
Very nice little trail for families and pets! Thanks SWMLC!!
Great trails with beautiful scenery
Nice short time in the woods. Great to be close to nature.
The Preserve is a lovely respite from the city. Well maintained and full of interesting sights, its the perfect place to hang out with nature.
A pretty trail, a bit overgrown, but full of natural beauty
Found someones camp while hiking... Dont go alone.
Any place youre allowed to take your dog these days is a good place
Nice spot for quiet contemplation.
Good food and a friendly staff makes this a perfect spot for lunch or breakfast.
Very naturific! Dont go after rain, very muddy..otherwise very rustic and more like hiking.
Definitely coming back to explore more
Its an enjoyable light hike. Deer, owls, rabbit, hawks all just a few of the animals that Ive either spotted the sing of or saw personally on my hikes.
I am a steward of Bow in the Clouds, and when i am not doing trail maintenance, i love sitting and listening to the birdsong and the wind in the trees....
It was a great time
Beautiful walking paths
Lots of accessible trails. Boardwalks through beautiful wetlands.
Beautiful hike not far from civilization.
Beautiful trails and great place to take senior pictures!
I love all the trails it has and it also has a natural wetland.
Beautiful grounds a little country in the city.
Beautiful place, nice trails, hidden
Very nice little persevere tucked in the city. Its all swap with appropriate wildlife.
