Such a beautiful beach!! Hubby and I find this beach to be our favorite one so far in Hawaii. The waves are flat, calm, turquoise blue water and white sand.. felt like I was in heaven here. Parking wasnt difficult for us. Maybe because we went around 9:30am, but its definitely a great beach for non-surfers and little kids.
Our favorite Beach Park! There are running and biking trails for road or commuter bikes, there are always a lot of wind surfers and kite surfers out, a buoyed off area for water play and swimming, and an island to break the waves making it perfect for small children! Parking does fill up quickly so you have to get there early if you want a spot, but you can usually find a nearby spot if you are willing to walk a little bit.
Gorgeous, plenty of picnic spots. Bathrooms are a bit dirty as expected with public parks. Very very windy on certain days- which is great for parasailing. Otherwise a great spot (:
The most clean ocean in the main island. But, it is hard to find the parking. I recommend to visit early in the morning.
It is a good family friendly beach. The main parking lot near the canal fills up fast. A lot of beachgoers launch their kayaks, paddle boards, and one-man canoes from this area. As a result, the beach area immediately around the canal can be a little busy and congested. Keep an eye on your children when moving through the parking lot.Although the water is usually pretty calm, there are lifeguard towers on the beach. There is a tower just to the north of the canal. The tower is not always occupied, so if having a lifeguard nearby is your thing, be sure someone is actually in the stand. The soft sand stretches pretty far into the water. The water is clear and clean, but not a whole lot of fish or coral near shore. The canal is often opened up before big rains. Keep in mind that when the canal opens, brackish water amd fish swim from the canal to the ocean. There is the potential for big ocean fish to be attracted to the canal mouth. The beach is also a good place to walk or jog. There are showers near the canal parking lot. There are also trash cans located throughout the beach park, so be sure to clean up your trash.
Great beach but usually a bit crowded. If you go to this beach your pretty close to lanikai so go check it out. There are three parking lots to access this beach if you can find parking in the first two there is kinda a secret lot that is accessed by taking a right at the market near by. Buzz’s is right across the street for a good meal or a drink!
Great Beach to go to. The water is calm and clean and is also shady parts where you can sit down and enjoy the afternoon. Past showers and bathrooms close by so good to take a dip in the water and take a shower before you go home.
This is one of the best beaches in Hawaii. It’s a great place for kids because the waves break relatively gently. The only downside is it can be really difficult to find parking, so it’s best to get there a little bit early to find easy parking. But the sand is amazing and you’ll really enjoy your time here. It’s also a great place to go paddle boarding. 10/10 would go here.
Beautiful sand. Calm blue water. Life guards on duty.
Best place on Oahu so far. Waves are safe for all levels and fewer people on beaches also. Plenty of area options for activities, views and food. Several bathroom and wash off areas that are relatively well kept. There is a very calm area where the river comes to the ocean. So calming. Paddle board and kayak rentals right here. Good tip to bring a blanket and umbrella. Youll find yourself wanting to stay a while.
My favorite beach in Oahu, love that is dog friendly even if I dont have a dog. Nice shade during the day also and some water sports to rent around.
The beach area wasnt terribly crowded and the beach area was clean and pleasant. The water was warm. There was also a convenient bathroom and shower area near parking.
Known as one of the most beautiful beaches on the island, Kailua definitely lives up to its reputation. Long, white sand beach with turquoise blue, warm water and vistas in every direction you look. This beach is a favorite among kite surfers (picture included), but the wind is never overwhelming so dont let that deter you. If youre looking for the quintessential beach of paradise, dont miss out on Kailua.
A wonderful public beach in Kailua. It is a large beach so although there were many groups there, there was enough space for everyone. There is also a canal that separates the beach so there is a safe space to paddle around if youre not into waves. The sand is beautiful. Decent parking as well. Well worth a visit if youre on the northern windward side of Oahu.
This is always a wonderful Beach okay it is beautiful with lots of space and lifeguards. The Parks and rec people keep it very clean as well as the people who come. The only downside is theres very limited parking spots so if you do plan on coming make sure you carpool or come very early. There are paddle board and surfboard rentals nearby so you dont have to drag it there yourself.
Just another one of those fabulous Hawaiian beaches we were fortunate to have our daughter and son-in-law brings us to while we visited them a summer ago. Gorgeous white sandy beaches, aqua green water with soft lazy waves. Bring drinks to state hydrated, towels and suntan lotion as well as munchies.
If you want to swim in paradise this is the spot. It felt like a dream. Beautiful beaches, perfect water, and the views are stunning
This beach and hike is amazing. The views from each stopping point on the hike are breathtaking. This is a very easy hike to do, just be sure to have shoes with a very good grip, because its a little slippery when it rains. This is definitely a hike to do, then come down and go lay out on the beautiful beaches of Kailua Park or rent a kayak and go out to one of the other islands.
Sand is soft and fine but awesome. May be a little rough when I was there but our little man loved it. We went after 4pm, still light out but shady.
This beach is a beautiful, clean, family friendly place to visit. I highly recommend it!
Place was the best out of Oahu. beach is super clean and water is clear! Long stretch of beach. See lots of dogs playing in this beach. i think they enjoy it alot. parking can be a little hard in the weekends.
Calm waves, beautiful hills leading up to the beach ️.Good for paddle boarding, kayaking, swimming with kids, walking or running on the beach, just sitting and watching the water, ECT.Bathrooms, showers, changing areas, picnic tables are just by the packing lots.
There is a reason this has been ranked the #1 beach in America several different years. The views are exsquisite, the sand is perfect and white, not too crowded if you know when to go. (Off-season, evenings) I will say this is a better beach if you live here, the parking situation is not great. Be patient and get a good spot. Wait for the sunset and you wont be disappointed.
This is by far one of my familys favorite beauty. Its pretty calm, so our 5-year old can get in the water and enjoy it as well. Its always so beautiful. If you get there early enough you can get a good parking spot as well as a good spot on the beach. Its great for snorkeling, kayaking, sunbathing, swimming, etc. When the sun comes up, it gets strong quickly. I always get there by 8, that way its pretty empty for awhile, because it does get crowded quickly.
Absolutely beautiful! The water was crystal clear and the overall view was amazing. We spent 6 hours here the weather was 81 degrees but it didnt feel that hot. We visited in January so the place was not busy. I have so many pictures on my phone I hope I attached the right ones if not I apologize in advance.
Took a sunrise yoga class at this beach. one word: unreal. this place is like a dream! I loved the view and sand was so soft. def recommend talking a walk here and if you get a chance, the sunrise yoga class
I really like this beach. There is ample parking and amenities on site. The sand is very fine and soft. Its very easy to get comfortable and spend the whole day here. If you dont want to picnic directly on the beach there are tables and benches in the park.
Very subtle beach.... Off the path, and it would be difficult to find if not on a map. Theres a great path, small walk - maybe 1/3 mile to a pillbox on the point. Its a small hike, but well worth it. Breathtaking views once on the shore. Very shady in the morning.
White sand, nice temperature, light waves. Nice place go kayaking!! An awesome beach with less visitors. Highly Recommend:)!
This is easily one of my favorite beaches! Soft sand, near zero rocks in the shallow water, showers and restrooms nearby, and great views.
Beach is good but highly popular therefore extremely crowded. I typically dont go here for that reason.
Very beautiful park! Great to spend the day or an hour or two. Parking was hard to find but the views were unbeatable. The family went snorkeling and saw some fish and a turtle. Be wary of the rocky cliff.
Softest Sand on the island, big beautiful white beaches and lots of room to spread out.
Great alternative to Waikiki beach (better in my opinion). Parking can be challenging to find but the beach is well worth it. The sand here is finer and the shades of blue are way more than other beaches I have been.
As one of Oahus better big beaches, Kailua offers plenty of soft sand, wide open space, way fewer crowds, and a good park to go with it. We used it late in the day as the sun went down. So quiet. So peaceful.
Mine and my wifes favorite beach park if you can find parking its a great locals beach.
It was packed with other tourist. Hard to find parking. Not a place to be if you want a quiet peaceful place. But the waters fun to be in even in December and January!
The Kailua Beach Park is close to the Lanikai monument which has wheel chair access up to the Lanikai Point Monument lookout.
Kailua Beach Park is my alternate location to Lanikai beach. I’ve never had parking problems at Kailua Beach Park. Nice fine sand. Beach has a gentle slope to it with water gradually getting deeper. You have to be careful of trenches being carved out parallel to the shore typically a foot or less deep but if you step in a depression unexpectedly it can cause a fall. Park is nice with shade trees and grass.
This place is great. Bathroom and shower on site. Like everywhere on the island, parking can be tough but its not too bad if youre here before noon. Id recommend looking at the wind forecast before you come as a strong trade wind day can be annoying.
The view in every direction is beautiful. The sand is soft, and trees provide some shade right on the beach. They have a fresh water rinse off station. Changing area and restrooms, they need a good cleaning. Sad to say there are sections with plastic bits confetted in with natural bits of nature. The parking lot is small, get there early.
One of my favorite places on the island. Beautiful beach, fantastic views. Restrooms, showers and picnic tables available. Parking gets right.
This beach was very relaxing and seem to be slower than most beaches when it comes to the amount of tourist and beach goers. That could’ve been due to the time of year and or time of day that we visited, Which was a few times the only complaint that I had was the parking was hard to get in and out of because of the busy small road, you’ll understand when you try to pull out. I still think that this beach was worth visiting and I would suggest bringing beach chair to take a nap under one of the trees on the edge of the beach. Such a beautiful place!
One of the BEST beach in the world! Great place when you have kids: the water is calm and the sand is soft. Parking is convenient.
Absolutely beautiful with clear waters. My favorite
Stopped here to eat breakfast and watch the waves. Beautiful scenery with ridges in most directions
Love this beach, the sand is like sugar and the waves are perfect for the kids.
Perfect place for a family. Great for an easy beach day, easy on the feet (little reef in the water) and beautiful drive options. Definitely coming back.
Nice park, white fine grain sand, shallow water. Looooong beach, getting more wavy towards Kaneohe, calmer, protected towards Lanikai.Good for windsurfing, and surf break spot, short paddle out.
Super fun beach. Wide open, lots of room.
I think here is the most beautiful beach in Oahu. Very soft white sand and water is crystal clear. Great place for swimming with kids, but I don’t recommend for snorkeling and surfing because water is calm and there’s few fishes.
One of the best beaches in Oahu. Not super crowded. Beautiful.
This is one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever been to. Honestly I dont know what more to expect from a beach.I love that is has a calm vibe, not too overcrowded like some other hyped up beaches such as Waikiki in Honolulu. This was my favorite beach on Oahu (I dont surf).
Beautiful beach, recommend paddling out to flat island and the mokaluas
Beautiful park. Nice sandy beach. Restrooms and showers.
Awesome, stand of trees near the water provide shade and hammock space. BEAUTIFUL CLEAR water! Parking space is free, but limited.
Perfect beach for the whole family. Showers and bathrooms. Beautiful whitesand beaches, silky sand in water. Grass and sand areas. The view is priceless. Grab food from nearby Foodland for the whole family before you get there.
Our home beach, Kailua Beach Park is one of the most beautiful beaches in Hawaii. Get there early for awesome Sunrise. Rental Kayaks are very popular and easy. Very safe beach as outer reef knocks down waves providing calm waters at the beach.
Calm water, sandy beach head, beautiful views. Enough said. Parking could be hard to find if theres a lot of people there, but otherwise, great beach.
The beach at Kailua has percect sand. White, super fine, along with turquoise waters that seem almost surreal. It was more crowded than other beaches that I visited in other areas of Oahu, such as the north shore, but definitely less crowded than beaches in Honolulu. Definitely a good place to spend a few hours :)
One of the most beautiful beaches I have ever been to in my entire life. The water is so blue its just amazing. There are bathrooms and a changing area there but they are bot the cleanest. It is worth a visit if you are in Oahu
It is a great beach park with washroom, outdoor shower facilities and parking (very limited though). It is a very busy beach for lots of activities for families! The water is not as clear as Lanikai beach just about 10 minutes away but still a good place to hang out.
Disclaimer - This is a review of just the southeast most portion of Kailua Beach Park.I visited here on 24 January 2019 with a friend and snorkeled and took lots of pictures. We parked on the most southeast portion of this beach near Lanakai Point and while the snorkeling could have been better I still got some decent videos of underwater sea life. The water was a bit murky during my visit there. I will put in a link to my YouTube channel for those videos soon. It will also lead to many hours of other snorkeling adventures during my visit to Oahu. This part of the Beach park has convenient bathrooms/showering facilities near the parking lot as well as plenty of shade for those hot days (which wasnt when we were there). These were some beautiful sandy beaches with blue water to appease the soul. Theres also a boat ramp and parking for vehicles with trailers which makes it quite convenient for those with water vessels. With Popoia Island (Bird Sanctuary) about 1300 ft due northeast, you could SUP or paddle over on a longboard and catch a few waves on the breaks on the east side of the island. There were breaks on the west side but didnt see surfers over there. I would imagine its possible to swim over to the island as well if youre in decent swimming/cardiovascular shape. All in all, this was a great place to visit but make sure you come early if youre driving there as the parking lots fill up rather quickly! Park there for the whole day and pack food. This is a great beach to just chill and watch the scenery and theres plenty of scenery! :D
Clean beach with nice picnic areas and a beautiful ocean view.
Beautiful and cozy! A bit breezy.
One of my favorite beaches, it has it all. I surf kite board sup or dive here. I spend more time at this beach than any other on the island. Close to market if you want to grab a snack, has bathrooms showers. Parking is always a challenge on the weekend in this area so be forewarned. On holidays this place is packed. Once I get here Im usually here the whole day and dont leave until the sun has gone down. Busy beach with lots of tourists but with good vibes and excellent qualities for water activities this is my home away from home. ALOHA!
Nice clean beach with clear water. Great for snorkeling but not many big waves so might not be the best for surfing/belly boarding.
Beautiful and the water was very warm. Loved it!
I have traveled all over the world. This is the best beach I’ve ever been to. Tropical fish you can snorkel to off shore. An uninhabited island you can kayak to and explore. Perfect in every way!
The IT spot for kitesurfing adventurers and plenty of shade from the sun. The wind comes ashore here so prepare yourself for a head out the window experience as a consistent breeze hits all day. Take the 671 but from Kailua Town to save a mile walk. Local restaurant and shop nearby for lunch.
Nice and clean beach with some shady spots. We were lucky to find a parking spot but could be a time consuming game to do the same at the peak hours. Washrooms are available but I couldnt rate it since I never visited. Dog friendly beach so you can bring your four legged friend with you.
Huge beach with white sand. Tons of parking. Steakhouse across the street. Bathrooms and changing areas.
Going Early to get Parking will help you get a spot..l heard theres no parking allow on side of road during the weekends due to emergency vehicles. beautiful beach and theres a part for your young kids.. theres a life guard as well...Enjoy !!!!!
Absolutely beautiful beach! Lots of little manowar jelly fish in the ocean today but was able to see them and steer clear, though we did see one fellow beach goer get stung today! The sand is velvety soft, water is beautiful but a bit cloudy because of the super soft sand so not a great place to snorkel, shallow anyway.
Went to Kailua Beach Park last week. More crowded than Kalama Beach Park was on the same day. Kailua Beach Park is very dog friendly, regardless of the signs. It is lifeguard protected for those that worry about those kinds of things. Nice little concrete walking trail to take the dogs on as well. Kalama does not have that. Kailua also has some nice park benches too that you can sit back, watch the ocean and enjoy the breeze. Also has a much bigger parking lot.
Absolutely amazing beach. The same is fine and the water is multiple shades of blue. Go during low tide to enjoy a large sandy beach front and plenty of shallow water to play in.There is a little bit of shade to the right on the entrance for those of you who do not want to bake in the sun.Parking: youll be very lucky if you can snag a spot. Id recommend walking or catching an Uber.
One of the most beautiful beaches we have visited. We walked the entire beach of the softest and smoothest sand ever. The water was clear and the surf was great for playing in. There are bathrooms and showers, lots of parking and shady areas for picnics if needed. It was a little windy and rough so we didnt rent a kayak from the beach rental place, but would love to come back and do that. This is one of our new favourite places to visit on Oahu.
Perfect for a Family Day at the Beach. The waters are calm enough for small children. Looks to be pet friendly. Plus, there are also several different water activities available for those needed a little extra physical activity. There are outdoor showers, public restrooms, and what I believe to be a snack bar/ food stand. You can also find several places to eat down the road on your way back out of the area.
Grab a coffee and walk home, great way to start the day, great food
Love this place. Its F... Ing Hawaii
Kailua beach is very family friendly and a great place to walk dogs! I come to this beach by myself all the time! The only issue is parking. Come early (around 9) or late (after 4) to find good parking
Dramatically beautiful backdrop. Lots of space for picnics and other beach and park activities. Parking can be challenging.
Gorgeous beach. A must visit spot when on Oahu.
It was Very Crowded but for Saturday that was not unusual. Parking was an all together different story. There were no parking spaces anywhere even past the Kailua point. The beach was Very clean, no trash or debris at all. There were some places on the beach that were available where we could lay out and relax. The weather was amazing and the water was warm. Everyone at the beach treated each other with Aloha. Overall a good day. Tips: spf 70 works great...apply every two hours... Get there early for a good place to park and beach area. The restrooms are well used but maintained and the outside showers work.Mahalo and Aloha
This beach is beautiful! The scenery is breathtaking! We went for a few hours and had a great time. It is a good ways away from downtown Honolulu so you need a car to get there but there are plenty of other beaches you can stop at along the way if its taking too long. They have a shower and bathroom on location which is helpful with small kids and all the sand they seem to harbor. The water is clear and theyre nice views of the mountains. Theres a bird man that calls pigeons to him which is cool and the people are super friendly. I would recommend this beach especially if you have small children.
Kailua Beach Park is still a wonderful place to go and hangout with friends and family or even people watch. This time we went kind of late, but there were still plenty of people there and watching dads play with their kids and outrigger canoe teams sprint at the end of their practice was really refreshing. The last time I was here I think there was some construction or something, but now it looks amazing and just like when I was small kid. It really is a great place for smaller kids as the surf is usually not too big and people are not surfing or boogie boarding.
My favorite beach on the East coast, it is great to watch the sunrise also. The sand is white and soft, and waters are so green and clear. I love snorkeling there as well as kayaking or paddle boarding. I also love to bring my family to barbecue on the beach. It is very pretty, and also popular among tourists. People drive from Waikiki to spend the day here. The beach and ocean waters are nicer here. Just check the weather before heading here. It rains often on this side of the island, and it can get windy too.
I fell in love with this beach! Clear, warm, blue water and soft sandy beach. Animal & children friendly. Im from California and must confess I have NEVER enjoyed our beaches. I have never went further than ankle high. But Hawaii, Kailua Beach, I had a blast!! We were in Kailua visiting family for 10 days and I cant wait to go back!!!!! Highly recommend this beach, this town, in Oahu. Wasnt over over crowded and locals were very friendly.
Great beach! White sands and great for kids!
Kayaking to flat island was great. Didnt tax us too hard but gave a workout. The island was perfect for pictures, several rock pools on backside that were mesmerizing, with the waves coming through little cave openings.
Very nice park with showers and bathrooms. Lots of parking as well. It was just a bit windy but still amazing!
Cool spot to picnic and chill. Beautiful views.
