One of the most unique state parks in Rhode Island, Beavertail is all about the rocky shoreline. Pretty small compared to the other state parks, there’s not much in terms of open space besides a small field near the lighthouse and the areas that are used as parking. But with all the nooks and crevices on the shoreline, there is still plenty to explore here. The lighthouse is one of the oldest in the country, and eventually the will be open for tours again. Plus, Conanicut Island is a really cool, rural area uncommon in RI, so the drive out here is nice even if it is a bit out of the way. Highly recommend to tourists and locals alike!

Beautiful little gem in Rhode Island. Its fun to hop around on the rocks and relax by the water. I see a lot of people fishing here too. You can also catch a pretty scenic sunset.

Go there!! Explore the grounds. Beavertail at sunset is simply incredible. Night photographers catch the milkyway behind the lighthouse. Drone photographers, get shots like this one. This place is perfect for a picnic, or date. You can bring the kids, the whole family or go solo and connect with the ocean breeze to clear your mind.

Best place around with regards to scenic beauty. There is so much to do you can stay all day! My family loves all of this place. There is ocean and rocks and woodsy areas to explore. The lighthouse is a gem too. Take the kids. They will love it and your wife will find it romantic. Find the rock with a whole in it and take a picture while the sun is setting and you will get wifey bonus points. Keep up the good work DEM. This park is a gem.

One of the classic scenic places in Rhode Island. Soon relative to rocks moving, the light houses current location and much of the Island could be swallowed by the waves. So theres a chance you can witness or even be part of a geological event. Keep your fingers crossed.

This is a phenomenal place to pop up a camp chair or throw down a blanket and watch the sunset. You probably wont be the only one here though, as its a very popular spot, for that very reason. Its a big loop drive with a couple of large, primative areas that can accommodate quite a lot of cars. There isnt much here besides the lighthouse, a nice expanse of lawn grass, a paved walking path, and the rocky shoreline. Many of rocks on the shore are broad, flat, and angled perfectly for lounging if you throw down a neat-sheet. Not much here to entertain little kids, but a wonderful place to bring a friend or significant other... maybe a kite, a picnic, and a camera.

It was without a doubt, one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited. One side is rocky and the other side is a beach. There were a lot of people but getting in and out was not bad and it was easy to find a parking spot, in the middle of July. It is an amazing place. We found it by accident and I am so glad we did. I can not recommend it enough!

It is absolutely beautiful here! Great area to go on an adventure. Great hiking spot. Some areas you have to walk through are a bit muddy so wear appropriate shoes if it rained. Semi tall grass so watch out for ticks. There are dogs off leash so be prepared. Ones i ran into were extremely friendly. Besides that, it is just a relaxing peaceful atmosphere. Definitely will be back soon

Im a fan of all the Rhode Island state parks, but during the summer Beavertail was our favorite place to catch some sun. Theres plenty of parking available, and the portable toilet facilities are actually well maintained. There are plenty of access points to go and walk out on the rocks, or just hang out on the lawn areas. Even during the winter its been a nice peaceful walk.

Breathtaking views.... Beautiful area and an outdoor lovers dream. Plenty of areas to hike and rocks / cliffs to go down and explore. Just drive in and youll get panoramic views at the point. Anyone can get a chair out and enjoy (elderly, handicapped, etc). Many tide pools at low tide if you climb down the rocks. We will definitely be back.

A must if you are visiting the area. We’re from California, the ocean is a different scenery here. It’s nice to walk around but there isn’t really much to do. Great for people who love the ocean! The lighthouse/museum is a pretty important landmark here, and I think they might give tours, but I dont know for sure. Great place to come to fish, you can just pick a giant rock and throw a line in the water. Plenty of grass, water, and wildlife around. One of my favorite places to just hang out and get some sun, or maybe even have a picnic. If you do come here, PLEASE TAKE WHATEVER TRASH YOU HAVE WITH YOU AND DISPOSE OF IT. Please, keep our oceans and parks clean. Thank you.

Beavertail is our go to place when we need an ocean fix.....and we live an hour away. We like this so much better than the overcrowded beach scene. Just love this park. Although it can seem pretty crowded when it comes to parking, there is lots of room to climb on the rocks or just sit and enjoy the views so it never seems crowded at all.Afterward we always stop at Chopmist Charlies in Jamestown for some great seafood!
