We spent four hours here and it flew by! They had to remind us the museum was closing, we could have easily spent four more hours seeing everything they have to offer! Great fun!
Super clean, works are constantly disinfecting everything. Great information, interactive games, clips of movies, stand up, music videos etc. Not limited to one era or style or form of media. Create your own meme, cartoon, you can perform your own stand-up or bit behind the green screens. Better to go in a group in my opinion since some activities require 2-3 people
A must see what a great place to visit. The staff is great and the precautions they take are fantastic. Now for the place itself it is a gold mine of comedic memorabilia. Great interactive things to do and see. Make sure to take the flight up to the blue floor. There is so much to do if you need to reload the brain take the river walk in the back.
This place is amazing. From the first moment you walk in until you wind up in the gift store and want to take everything home with you... this place is A+.
This is an awesome museum. We loved the customizable and interactive exhibits. The museum is fantastic! We thought 3 hours would be plenty of time but we were wrong. Next time well plan for 5 hours.
First time visiting and such an amazing place. Awesome interactive exhibits and was exciting to learn the history of comedy. Several procedures in place in regards to covid and I felt very safe
So much fun! Had a great time and am so impressed with how they creatively kept the interactive aspect of the center going even during the pandemic. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Really looking forward to a second visit!
Awesome experience. Very interactive. Definitely worth your time. You can easily spend 3 hours here and not get bored.
They did a great job social distancing and keeping the public safe. If you like comedy the place is fantastic.
It was a good time ..and many things to do ..and the safety was geart . Job well done
This might actually be one of the best museums Ive ever been to! The National Comedy Center has an incredibly large collection of archival documents, footage, videos, and soundbites - most of it all hilarous. They really make it possible to explore the history and art of comedy. Because the museum is only a few years old, most of the exhibits place a real focus on interactivity. This allows visitors to go at their own pace and really explore who or what interests them. The craft of early stand-up comics and the rise of late night tv was especially fascinating for me. Since I found that there was too much to be seen in a single visit, I will look forward to revisiting this gem in downtown Jamestown.
Had a great time, well worth the visit! Lots of laughs of course...
Tremendous museum. Spent 3.5 hours, couldve spent more.
What a great experience. Wonderful interactive fun
SO cool here. The content is well curated, but then they took it further and found a way to make it interactive and customized to your own sense of humor preferences. You could easily spend a whole day here and still have more to see - so get the annual pass and come back a second time!
Loved this place! Super interactive. Throughout the museum, you are constantly rating features by scanning a bracelet you wear and upvoting things you like. At the end of the day, youre given a variety of photos from your visit and an evaluation on your sense of humor. Theres conveniently a bar available to add to the fun. For my first visit, I spent over three hours checking the place out. Ill be back (Arnold voice).
Lovely time ...and that apple cider and rum was awesome!
Fun place to see. A lot to see and do
State of the art interactive exhibits and lots of memorabilia make the National Comedy Center a must see if you are in the area or looking for a unique destination. Plan on spending three hours or more to see it all. You can also get a combination pass to see the Lucy/Desi museum. Lucys grave, statue, and childhood home (latter not open to public) can also be visited.
Very safe. Helpful and friendly staff. Good value. Wonderful museum.
Loved it! Convenient location - walking distance is within a block or 2 of Double Tree & La Quinta hotels. Also, 1 block from the Lucy Desi Museum. Dual admission ticket for both museums, same day, is $30 per adult ( $25 just for the NCC ) and you need to reserve ahead online ( for social distancing - you pick a time to show up ). Very clean ( they take all precautions for Covid 19 ). You must wear a mask & youll get a hand cover, along with a pointer pen ( for interactive displays ). Pics, video, games, costumes, scripts, cartoons, comic books, timelines, etc. of all your comedy favorites, formats, and history. The Blue Room, for adults only, is downstairs ( take the elevator by the Bob Hope USO video screen ). Theres a snack & drink bar, and then a gift shop, before the exit. Its a lot of fun & a great way to spend the day in Jamestown.
The museum was an awesome experience, and the new covid guidelines were adhered to. It was a fantastic experience, would definitely recommend!
Unbelievable gem of a find. Came for Lucille ball museum which is fantastic on its own but they have tickets to this place and it is unbelievable. State of art tech to help you interact with the comedy. Decades of comedy history and you know that big money was donated by this genre. The blue room is a must. Dont skip it, at all. Im very happy that we stumbled on this gem.
The messages that are taken to keep everyone safe is amazing!!! I havent had this much fun in a really long time.
Was more than we expected, spent 3 hours there and could have stayed longer. Was a lot to do and made us laugh alot
Absolutely Fantastic!!! Covid is the perfect time to see Museums. They limit the number of people at a time so its basically empty for you. Gloves and Germx are EVERYWHERE!!! The staff wore mask and it was strictly enforced for patrons to use it as well. And they had MASK FREE sections so you can take pictires but it was roped off sprayed clean, truly going above and beyond to keep everyone safe. The worst part was we had so much fun we ran out of time to see everything .....I guess that means I have to come back...
Such an awesome time here. Glad we decided to check it out, you can spend quite a few hours in here checking out all the neat interactive activities all while laughing the day away. We thought it was great they served booze nice little addition while you walk around and enjoy what this place has to offer.
Tons of fun, for the whole family and your safety is covered with laugh safe implemented at all three building social distancing no actual touching hand sanitizer threw out buildings and of course wear your masks
Highly recommended! I could spend the entire day here checking out all the interactive displays & activities.
So much to look at!! Love the interactive design!!
So much wonderful comedy you need a full day or more. Very clever visitor experience. You pay your admission and a wrist band with an RFID chip is strapped onto your wrist . At a computerized kiosk in the lobby you select your comedic preferences of different types of humor by selecting pictures of comics, TV shows, and movies. This is associated with your wrist band. So when you enter a small movie theater you scan your wrist band. Other visitors do likewise. Before the video starts the a search of the visitors comedic style preferences to see which are common among all attendees and which is most popular and then selects a video that will match the audience comedic style. Amazing. So many artifacts including all of George Carlins collection and so more. If you want to longer at each exhibit and soak in the comedic cultural experience of a lifetime, then 1 day maybe not enough time. An overnight stay is needed to take in Lucy museum not to far away from the National Comedy Museum.
Lots of variety, interesting history, interactive, customized to your sense of humor
Part of our great visit to the United States. The Center offers an interactive display of comedy at its finest .Even had a comedy show that almost comes across as real but was presented through hologram technology. After the show we wandered around with a beer and played our way through the interactive displays. If you want you can even put on your own karaoke show. Staff was over the top friendly . Spend the day and have a comedy blast.
Aaaaamazing interactive exhibits! You can learn about every aspect of comedy, relive some of the art forms greatest moments and even get into the show yourself thanks to the Magic of green screen technology and the comedy karaoke room. You can go for hours and not get bored.... So much fun!
Excellent Museum, interactive displays - video and audio with helpful staff always nearby to help you figure out how the displays work. We spent 4.5 hours there and couldve easily stayed for 6 hours! It has many displays on comedy- stand-up, social issues, culture, TV & movies, cartoons and animation, politics, late night, comedy writing, current events, media, USO and even comedy in healthcare. Blue room covers Carlins 7 dirty words and all the comics in that genre. You can create a profile of your favorite comedians, TV shows and movies which tailor the interactive displays to your favorites. It didnt shy away from controversial topics with Bill Cosby, Kathy Griffin and other comics in the news recently. I would definitely recommend a stop at this museum- youre sure to smile and laugh your way through it.
Better than we expected. We started with the Lucy museums, which tell the stories of I Love Lucy and of Lucy and Desi. Then a short walk to the National Comedy Center, which was even better than we expected. The experience is tailored to visitors based on a questionnaire visitors fill out at kiosks before entering. Make sure you take the time to completely answer the questions. You can check into exhibits with your wrist band, and the experience is then tailored to your answers. A lot of laughs and some interesting information. Well worth the drive to Jamestown!
Saw Lewis Black talk about his history in comedy. Great and personal talk with good insight and advice. If you are into comedy, come early as there is plenty to keep you busy for the entire day in the museum.
Always a fantastic experience. Everyone should visit this incredible attraction.
Excellent exibits, most are interactive and personalized based on taste and preferences. You can even do karoke type set in front of people or a 2 min free style set.
Had an amazing time at the comedy center with my fiance for my birthday very fun interactive exhibits, that you just swipe your wristband on and it remembers you through the whole exhibit. Would recommend this for a fun-filled day with the family.
THIS PLACE IS AMAZING!!! Fall-to- your-knees laughing, bar inside, virtual customized experience to your individual comedic taste. Brilliant! Just Go!
Wow... Needed to spend more time there... Very clean.... Awesome interactive exhibits...!!
This is a very nice museum. Has a lot of information and is interactive. It takes a lot more time than you think. So plan on at least 3 to 6 hours. It is a new and modern museum. There is employees to help you all through the museum if you need it. It is a must on your plans if you go to Jamestown.
Well worth the visit. Very enjoyable. The hands-on techy stuff is way cool.
Fantastic experience. Friendly staff, tons of interactive exhibits. We spent 5 hours and could have spent another 2-3 hours. I definitely recommend planning a full day here. Main floor is family-friendly; basement contains the Blue Room. Next time well start in the Blue Room and make our way back to the regular exhibits.
Very state of the art interactive museum experience.
A nice place to go.
Great place to visit. You can easily spend all day here! It was well worth the money. We combined with the Lucy Desi museum and saved on admission. The comedy profile is a really cool concept to scan your wristband and receive information, pictures and videos from your visit via email when you scan out.The exhibits with comedian outfits props from movies were neat to see. They have a holagram theater so it is like being in a comedy club. We learned how to make cartoons and how to use sound effects as well as history of objects from comedy and Drew connections between comedians. We also enjoyed hearing comedy in song and viewing old TV shows based on our comedy profiles. The blue room is quite bold and for those not easily offended, but it was great for me and full of laughs and eye rolls.
Amazing. The technology in this is unparalleled.Guests are issued an RFID bracelet that tailors many exhibits to the taste and prefrenes of the guest.2-4 hours. Worth every cent. Honestly, worth a second visit.
Very cool place and inventive ways of dealing with covid
We had fun enjoying all the different options and information to view about some amazing people.
What a great place! Lots of interactive things to do. Some authentic memorabilia, and all the comedians you could think of. Need some Dave Chappelle though, that was kinda weird. Plan on spending at least a couple hours. You wont be board. So much to see and do. And its just around the block from the Lucille Ball museum. This is 200× better than the Rock and Roll HOF. Stay in NY.
It was super fun! They have a customized experience for everyone, interactive activities mixed in with regular exhibits and videos, and a nice balance of history and just humor. Staff is very helpful and cheerful.
An incredible experience! A truly world class museum in the most unexpected of places. From the wandering waitress refilling your reusable beer mug, to the holographic theater, I was consistently delighted at every turn.
Always so much to see...and laugh at! Pictures at the entrance a great idea, and a nice memento of the visit. Food and drink area is also terrific, with great service, and the gift shop always has such fun stuff. Thank you!
Went to the soft opening. This is a Mind Blowing experience! Cant wait to go back when everything is finished! Could have spent a couple hours just digitally sifting through George Carlins handwritten notes...wow. The comic strip art on display is amazing. The (approx) 100 ft video wall that constitutes the Comedy Continuum could engage you for another few hours. I really liked the Grab a Prop tables and wish I had more time to explore that... Like I said, cant wait to go back. This place is going to be A MAJOR DRAW to the Jamestown area when its up and running and the word gets around the country...
The history was very entertaining.
The interactivity of this museum is phenomenal. It is not just looking at exhibits, its learning about a wide array of performers and, in the process, learning about yourself and what really makes you laugh. They opened with a beautiful tribute to the late, great George Carlin and expanded from there. This museum is top notch and I highly recommend it to anyone from any place.
Super fun! Lots to explore. We were there for 2 hours. Could have spent a couple more. Great place to go by yourself since there are interactive areas everywhere. I love how they give you your profile based on what comedians, movies and tv shows appeal to you.
The state of the art interactive exhibits were fantastic. I was not expecting that kind of technology here. It made the experience exponentially more fun
Give enough tim, can spend all day
Truly an amazing experience! Smithsonian level exhibits that allow you to dig as deep into your favorite comedian or type of comedy as you desire. This is a must see in Chautauqua county!
Awesome museum! Very interactive and fun. A unique perspective behind the curtain of the lives and careers of some well-known comedians.
What an amazing venue for lovers of comedy!!A group of us spent New Years Eve at the National Comedy Center. It was the best New Years Eve ever, side splitting laughter all night, I laughed so much that my checks hurt the next day.
What a great way to spend the day! So much fun, very interactive, so much to see! Will definitely be back and will encourage others as well.
Interesting place with lots of props and history of comedy. Many interactive screen displays, personalized with fancy wristbands so you can see stuff you like.
The National Comedy Center is set up in an old railroad station. We actually went in to look at the architecture, we were pleasantly surprised. A lot of cool items and comedy oriented merchandise. This museum is established in Lucille Balls home town.
Totally awesome...diverse...and interactive at every turn. We give it six stars. Thank you to the staff who added so much.. We plan to take our family back. Thank you...thank you...thank you!
Very well done something for everyone
Half of the interactive displays didnt work, way overhyped for what it is. I wouldnt go again.
Lots of interactive exhibits and displays. Definitely not worth the admission price for the size of the museum. Admission price should be about $10 cheaper. Nice place to visit if youre in the area or live nearby.
Such a great place. The exhibits are well organized and the technology used to show the material is so well done. High light has to be the Blue Room. Dont miss it if youre in the area
This is a great place to visit no matter your age. They have something for everyone. Plan on spending some time perusing and laughing. The layout is spacious and there seems to be a friendly staff member waiting around every corner to help. We will be going back.
This place is incredible! I need to go back because I didnt have time to do all the wonderful interactive experiences. The web site says to allow 2-1/2 to 3 hours but I needed more time. I highly recommend a visit!
We enjoyed the center very much. Twelve guests from out of town all agreed, great place. If you are a fan plan on spending the day.
First time there, was pretty interesting very interactive
Terrible experience... there is no live comedy here it’s only a bunch of televisions everywhere.... and some band singing hallelujah. Paid $40 thinking the “national comedy club” would have live comedy or at least look like the pictures on their website. Nope. Should have stayed home and watched YouTube if I wanted to watch tv, and it wouldn’t have cost $40.
Fantastic museum. LOL funny and lots of ingenious technical interactive content.
The building was over air-conditioned. We were freezing and just wanted to get out to warm up. You cannot enjoy or lough when youre physically uncomfortable.Too many exhibits are screen-based, showing video snippets. You better follow and enjoy virtually all of comedians work online, including full length performances. Look them up on YouTube, Netflix, etc., and enjoy!
This place was wonderful! Completely satisfied our need for information, history, & laughs about comedy - never thought we would find such a remarkable museum in a rather out of the way place like Jamestown, NY - we only allowed 3 hours b/c we thought it would be a place that we would put in our been there, done that list BUT we could have spent a whole day - so many interactive exhibits - most of all we wanted to come home & stream all the comedies that we love & those we were just introduced to today- worth the price!
Very entertaining. Interacctive.
Loved this museum! Block out a lot of time to spend here, there is so much to see. Everything is interactive and catered to your humor and taste. Dont forget the blue room downstairs with all the curse words you could ever want
I promise lots of smiles and laughter! This place is worth the trip from anywhere. It caters to all humor types and will even give you a breakdown to what makes you giggle. Dont miss this gem! And Jerrys puffy shirt!
Fantastic and interactive exhibits that really hit you in the funny bone. I loved the scanning bracelets that tailor the comedy to your sense of humor. Extremely well done. I will be coming back. It is especially great that there is a discount for Chautauqua County residents.
Nice interactive museum on the history of comedy
I was pleasantly surprised how entertaining the “interaction” was. I wish I had two more hours to spend there. We were only there 2.5 hrs. Staff is friendly and helpful. And I really enjoyed all the different “activities” to do. It wasn’t just read and look like a museum, yet there were certain places you could sit, rest and watch. The souvenir “email” they sent out was only a 2/5 for me. Wasn’t sure what to expect with that but maybe it would have had more to it if I had stayed longer. Loved the 3 “jokes” with you name on it that were printed for me when we left. That was cute. I also enjoyed the drawing area. I don’t know how to draw at all but now I want to learn more. Haha.
Great place to visit. Must be somewhat computer savy. So much to see. We spent a few hours. Could have spent longer but got hungry. They sell premade fast food there but nothing special
Great interactive exhibits and will organized well.
OK, I have to say that this was a pleasant surprise! Plan to spend half a day. It is personalized to each person, based on a questionnaire you fill out upon entering and you sign in to each exhibit with your own wristband. This customized your experience.
Funny Place. Good times. Lots of history
Wow! What a great place to come and visit! Will plan to bring many out of town friends to check it out. I liked that we went to see the center on a slow day, because we could spend more time investigating everything. Great gift shop, even a small bar selling beer or wine in sippy cups. We loved it so.. much we wanted to be supporters and joined as members. A must see in Western NY. Great for older kids, too..ages12 13 and up. Ate at a restaurant across the street for dinner, and that was good too.
No handicap friendly parking. There is a designated parking lot with signs all over it but every time Ive gone its been full of cars. None of which have the handicap stickers.
This is a great attraction for locals and visitors alike! I was impressed with how the experience appealed to a wide variety of interests - there was something for everyone. No one in my group was particularly interested in comedy but we still spent 2 hours there and could have spent longer. Ive read some complaints about parking but there are plenty of spots, including a free parking garage and metered street parking.
